(Kix's POV)
Where is she? Actually, I don't really need to ask, I know where she is. With Slick.
"Sorry I took so long!" There she is, walking into the room. More like running. "I was meeting some of Slick's men."
"You know you can't always be with Slick all the time. After all, you are my assistant, not his." I didn't want to sound like I was saying she couldn't see him, but she still needed to understand this.
Sis nodded, looking a little upset, but I think she knew I was right when she started nodding. "I know. I'll make sure this doesn't happen again."
I nod back at her. "Good. Now, I'm going to teach you what to use to patch up a simple wound."
"Like a cut?" She asks, pointing to the side of her neck, where she had her scar. I almost forgot about her neck scar.
"Yeah..." This became a little awkward. I'm not sure if I should even talk about this, after what happened. "Look Sis, if you don't want-"
"Yo-you can teach me." She said. I could tell even she was uncertain about this when she stuttered. She continues. "If I'm going to be a medic, I'm going to have to learn everything I can about this. Both the good and bad." I wanted to tell her otherwise, but the kid is right. Despite how uncomfortable to topic must be for her, she's still willing to learn. I don't know if I should admire that or be concerned.
"Alright then. Grab a chair and sit." She nods and gets a chair and she sits down, but I saw her hesitate when she grabs the chair. I wanted to tell that she didn't have to know about this, but she did. This was the simplest topic I could think of and I don't think she's ready for anything else yet. "Alright there are few ways to treat cuts, it depends on how severe it looks."
"Okay." She nods. That's pretty much all she says as I explain all of this to her. I tell her how to clean a cut and how to patch it, I even tell that some cuts will require stitches and all she says is 'okay' or 'I understand'. But she I can tell she's paying attention, the expression on her face tells me she's focused on the subject, I can see it her eyes.
"You understand, right?" I ask her, just to be sure.
Sis nods. "Yes, you suggest I should clean around the wound so I can see where the cut is and how severe it is. Right?"
I nod. She a fast learner, hopefully she can do it when the time comes. "Right. But remember, sometimes you might have to-"
"Kix, may I have a word with you?" A man asked. I look at the entrance and General Kenobi was standing there.
"Yes Sir. Sis, wait here." Sis nods. But then she bit her lip, like she was getting nervous. I walk out and then the General and I began to walk a bit further away. "Is something wrong?"
"No." He says. "I wanted to check on you and her and see how her training is." Of course.
"I can assure you that her training is going fine, Sir." I tell him. I try to hide my annoyance, but I'm sure he could tell. I'm just sick of being asked this, because whenever they say they're checking on Sis' training, they really mean her behavior.
"I only want to make sure things are fine. After what happened-"
"What happened before isn't happening now." I didn't mean to sound disrespectful to my C.O., but I had to say this. "As I said before, her training is going well. She's a quick learner, she listens to me, and she hasn't caused any problems for me. No disrespect Sir, but you're not going to find any excuses to get rid of her. She is my assistant and she will remain my assistant. Now I must get back, she is waiting for me." Then I walked back, Kenobi doesn't say anything else or tries to stop me. When I arrived, Sis walks up to me and hugs me, I tense up a bit, surprised by the hug.
"Thanks." I heard her say.
"For what?" I ask her. She stops hugging me.
"Just...thanks." That's all she says. Then I grabbed her arm and I pull her into a hug. And instead of pushing me away or tensing up, I felt her relax as she hugs me back.
