(Sis' POV)
A turncoat? A traitor? Who would want to betray us? Why would they want to betray us? Why do they think it's one of Slick's men? Rex and Cody confront Jester first. He was pretty nervous. He was stuttering, and he was holding his hands together, seemed like a tight grip.
"I-I don't know. I was doing the things...I always do after mission." He finally said.
"Things like what?"
"I'm sorry Sir. I'm just a little nervous." He sighs." You're my C.O."
"The way I figure, you tell the truth, you've got nothing to be nervous about." Rex said. True, I began to get a little suspicious, but Jester doesn't seem capable of keeping a secret like that, based on how nervous he was being. Although I don't exactly know him well, so I don't get to say anything.
"Jester IS telling the truth." Sketch immediately said "Cleans his weapon after every mission. First thing, every time. He's kind of obsessed that way."
"Is that right? You were cleaning your weapon?" Cody asks.
"Yes Sir!" Jester says, more confident than before. I look at Slick, he looked over to me and motioned that I should leave. But I shook my head no, I was staying, I had a right to know as much as they did.
When I returned my focus on Rex and Cody, they were talking to Punch and Sketch. "We got to the Mess at the same time." Sketch stated, I assume for both His and Punch's alibi. "Got our grub and sat together."
"Anyone else in the Mess able to confirm what you two are saying?" Rex asks, suspicious.
"Lots of guys there ask any of them." Sketch said, starting to sound nervous and scratched his arm.
"Oh, we will." Rex said. I wanted to confirm what they said was true, but I was there a lot later, so my word wouldn't really do anything.
"Captain, give me just a moment with them." Slick asked. I couldn't tell, but I think he was getting a little nervous too. But then again, I would too if one of MY own men was a traitor, I guess.
"No, it's okay Serge, I got nothing to hide." Gus said, rather confidently, despite this situation. "I was in the infirmary. Got banged up pretty good by one of those clankers." He says presenting his bandaged arm.
"He was." I say. "Kix and I were taking care of his wound. You can ask Kix, if you want to." Gus nods toward me, as well as Rex and Cody. Then finally, they both go to Chopper, who had been sitting quietly on one of the beds.
"So, Chopper, old boy. What's your alibi?"
"I was in the Mess Hall." He said. He sounded like he didn't really care what was going on.
"No you weren't!" Sketch suddenly shouted. When everyone, including me, faced him, it looked like he was regretting saying that. "I-I mean..you..."
"If you know something, Kid, you should speak up." Cody said. What did Sketch know?
"Chopper came in...a lot later...after everyone else." He said, sounding a bit nervous. I was expecting Chopper to defend himself, and maybe even yell at Sketch. But he remains quiet, avoiding everyone's eyes.
"Where were you before you went to the Mess?"
"No where." He said, rather calmly, a little too calm to me. "Walking around."
"Son, you know we're gonna need a better answer than that."
Chopper sighs. "I was hiding. In the south exit. Didn't want anyone see me string these together." Then he presents pieces of metal on a string. I looked at the metal and I realized those were droid fingers. "I just wanted something back." He says. "I guess I felt like...like they owed me." I could sense the anger in his voice, despite how calm he tried to sound. I ended up staring at him, I couldn't help it, I was just so...curious why he did that. Not shocked, not disgusted or angry, but curious. He caught me staring at him and he sat up on bed, looking away from everyone else. I realize I've been staring intensely at him that when I see lips moving, I can't hear what anyone is saying.
"I put up with the attitude because you had skill." I finally hear Slick say. "But if you can break these rules, you're whole character's in question here."
"No-Wait! Hang on! I'm not spy!" Chopper shouted, I could sense the anger and shock. That's I began to drown everyone's voices again. I began to feel a little bad for Chopper.
"Don't you think we're all overreacting a bit?" I didn't think of saying that, but I just said it. Everyone was silent and looked at me. I felt my face grow warm and I felt a little sick in my stomach, but I continue, I couldn't freeze up now. "Think about. If he really was a spy, why would he collect droid fingers? I mean, I understand that I don't know Chopper as long as any of you, but I know that I know no one with more anger and hatred towards the separatists than Chopper." To my surprise, some of the men were agreeing with me, not all, but some. I look at Chopper, and he looks at me, then he quickly looks back at Slick. I look over to Slick and looks at me surprised. I couldn't blame him, I was surprised that I was willing to defend Chopper, in spite of everything that happened between us. Rex and Cody still looked rather doubtful, so I say, "We should, at least, give a him a fair investigation."
"Sis is right." Then he puts a hand on Chopper's shoulder. "You don't have to say anything till the Jedi come back to talk to you."
Chopper pushes Slick's hand away. "Maybe YOU should talk, Sir, tell them where you were!" I almost regretted defending him. He can't talk to Slick like that! "I was at the south exit, remember? I saw you sir, I saw YOU."
"Chopper, I have been patient-"
"Everyone else turned left, to the barracks and the mess." Chopper added. "You turned right. To the command center. What were you doing, sir?" What does he mean? Is he implying-? No, Slick's our brother, he wouldn't do this! He's the most loyal man who ever lived!
"Obviously, the kid feels cornered." Slick finally said. But when he spoke, he seemed to get a little nervous.
"Sergeant," Cody speaks. "What do you mean 'till the Jedi come back? how did you know the Jedi were gone?" Then all of the men bean to surround Slick.
"I really wish you hadn't noticed that, Sir." Then he punches Cody in the face and elbows Chopper in the face, jumps over the bed and pushes me hard to the ground and runs away.
"It's Slick? Slick's the traitor?!" Someone shouted. I tried to get up, but my arms and legs suddenly felt weak. One of the men grabbed my shoulders and helped me on my feet, I didn't see who. I didn't care who. How could Slick betray us? How could he betray me?! He's my brother! He was my brother and I cared about him! I push the man's hands off my shoulders and I run after Cody and Rex. I had to find Slick. I wasn't going to let him hurt me and get away with it.
