CHAPTER EIGHT
Quinn woke up with the cutest little girl on top of her in her face.
"Morn, Quinnie," Lia whispered with a quiet giggle.
"Good morning Lia, may I help you?" Quinn laughed.
"I'm hungry. Can you please make me some breakfast?"
"Of course. What do you say we make your mommy some breakfast in bed?"
"Okay!"
"Shhhh," Quinn put a finger up to her own mouth.
Lia nodded apologetically and mirrored Quinn's movement.
"Let's go little one," Quinn grabbed Lia's hand and led her out of the bedroom.
A sleepy Rachel walked into the kitchen with a yawn, and a huge smile graced her features when she saw the sight before her.
Quinn was in an oversized T-shirt flipping a pancake and shaking her hips, while Lia in her pink piggy pajama pants was sitting on a stool covering the finished pancakes in cut up strawberry pieces and singing her heart out.
Quinn froze when she saw the tiny woman walking into the kitchen, "you know, not being in bed kind of defeats the purpose of breakfast in bed."
"Yeah mommy, so get back in bed!" Lia chastised.
Rachel just laughed and walked over to her daughter and gave her a good morning kiss. "Good morning sweetheart." Rachel then walked over to the blonde and gave her a chaste kiss on the lips, "Good morning babe."
"So I guess we'll all have to eat breakfast in bed all together," Quinn shrugged with a cheeky smile.
"Oh no, you are not getting crumbs in my bed!" Rachel shouted.
Quinn POV; Three hours later…
Quinn figured she'd spent enough time with the Berry girls so she made her way home and had Mercedes over for lunch.
"So you enjoy your afternoon, night, and morning with your girlfriend?" Mercedes asked.
"Cedes, it was amazing. I love being with them, and this morning… It all felt so natural, like we were a family living together."
"Mhm," Mercedes was focused on her cellphone and had her eyebrows scrunched together.
"What's the latest New York gossip now?" Quinn asked with a laugh.
"Um, Quinn I think you should see this…" Mercedes said skeptically.
"Okay…" Quinn grabbed her best friend's phone, and her heart immediately dropped at the headline and photo.
"Broadway actress Rachel Berry seen out on a lunch date with her new beau Sam Evans two days prior to today's date"
Quinn scrolled down to continue reading the article.
"The beautiful couple gave our photographers many silly faces and lots of laughs to work with. Evans and Berry are working on their latest Broadway production as one another's love interest. The chemistry between the two is clearly undeniable. Hands down our favorite couple, we definitely ship Samchel!"
Quinn thought back to two days earlier, the same day that Rachel ignored her calls and never called her back.
"Q? Q, tell me what you're thinking."
"I-I—Just give me a sec, okay?" Quinn took a deep breath and read over the article again and again.
"Quinn, maybe it's just gossip, you know how these websites exaggerate. Maybe they're out as friends," Mercedes reasoned.
"Yeah, but it's around the time Rachel has her lunch break, which is the same time I called her, which is the same time she ignored my call." Quinn said dejectedly.
"I think you should talk to Rachel before you start freaking out."
"I c-can't believe she's cheating on me," Quinn put her head in her hands.
"Quinn, snap out of it, okay? Rachel obviously loves you." Mercedes pulled Quinn's hands away from her face.
"I—" Quinn was cut off by the sound of her phone ringing. She saw Rachel's name flash across the screen and immediately hit ignore.
"Quinn, you could've talked to her about it!"
"I don't think I'm ready to hear what she has to say…"
Two Days Later; Rachel's POV…
Quinn has clearly been avoiding Rachel for the past two days, and Rachel has no idea why. Maybe, Quinn felt they had spent too much time together. Rachel was brought out of her thoughts when one of her best friends called her attention.
"Yeah Kurt?"
"Come here for a second… I think you should see this." Kurt said sounding concerned.
Rachel got up from the couch and walked into Kurt's at home office.
Rachel was brought face to face with the article that Quinn previously read.
"Oh my God! How long has this been up?" Rachel asked reading the entire article.
"Um, two days exactly."
"Oh goodness! This is why Quinn has been avoiding me. She probably saw the article, I'm sure Mercedes showed it to her. She's almost as much of a gossip as you are."
"You should call Quinn and assure her it's just a rumor," Kurt suggested.
"I would if Quinn would actually answer my phone calls!"
"I guess you have to talk to her in person."
"Yeah, but when? I can't talk to her at the preschool in front of adolescent children."
"Just go to her house this evening and San and I will watch Lia."
"You sure?"
"Of course."
"I love you," Rachel grabbed Kurt's face and gave him a big kiss on his cheeks.
"I know," Kurt said with cheeky smile.
Rachel stood knocking outside of Quinn's door and still no answer from the blonde.
"Quinn, please open up, I know you're in there. Just let me explain!" Rachel said exasperated.
Quinn opened the door with a sullen look on her face, "Yes?"
"Oh thank God!" Rachel grabbed Quinn into her arms. "Could I come in, we really need to talk."
"U-Uh yeah, sure," Quinn stepped out of the way to give Rachel room to enter. "Just, uh, sit wherever."
Rachel noticed how nervous Quinn sounded and she was concerned by that alone. "Quinn, please tell me what's going on with you. You've been avoiding me for the past two days."
"N-Nothing is going on," Quinn said nonchalantly.
"You and I both know that is a huge lie. Just talk to me, Quinn. Is this about the rumors about Sam and me?"
Quinn suddenly found the floor very interesting at the mention of the blonde boy's name.
"Quinn… Quinn, look at me," Rachel grabbed Quinn's face in between her hands, "why do you have so much doubt in our relationship… In me? Sam and I are just friends, nothing more, nothing less."
"Rachel, you are the most fascinating, beautiful, talented, spectacular woman I've ever met in my entire life; other people are going to see that too. I have no doubts in you or about you at all, but I can't say the same for others. Besides, I don't only have to be weary of other women, but men too. It's a scary thing, Rach." Quinn rambled.
"Quinn, you have to trust me when I say that I love you, no one else."
"I know that, Rachel, I really do, but that was the same day you ignored me all day. You even ignored my call while you were out with that guy."
"Quinn, I've already explained to you I fell asleep that night. And as for your call while I was out for lunch, I felt it would be extremely rude to have a conversation with you while I was out with a friend. I apologize for not calling you back, but I do have a daughter." Rachel sighed, getting frustrated with having to constantly explain herself.
"You could've texted me and told me you were out with a friend, not leaving me to think the worst." Quinn ranted.
"I shouldn't have to do that, Quinn! You should know because I tell you every second of every day how much you mean to me!"
Quinn sighed in defeat; "I can't do this right now." Quinn said getting up from the couch.
"So that's it? Was my alibi not good enough?"
"Rachel, I'm tired, okay? Can we do this another time?" Quinn said stoically while stopping where she was.
"It's funny, you have all these doubts about me, yet you're the one running away from our issues and not wanting to fight for what we have," Rachel said with a bitter laugh.
"What is there to fight for, Rachel, huh? We've been together for, what? Two months."
Rachel stood staring at Quinn with her mouth open; she couldn't believe Quinn said that.
"Wait, hold on, that was way out of line. I didn't mea—"
"No Quinn, you're right. Maybe we shouldn't be together since it's not a real relationship… I think—I think we should just be friends for now, we should take a break." Rachel said sadly and defeated.
"Rachel, please, I didn't mean it, okay? I was angry and feeling vulnerable. Don't end this because I'm an insecure dumbass." Quinn begged.
"Goodnight Quinn, and I mean it, we can be friends until we sort everything out. I'll see you around," Rachel goes towards the door.
"Y-You—Are you doing this so you can be with Sam without feeling guilty?"
"Unbelievable! You are constantly proving to me why we aren't a good idea. This has nothing to do with Sam, it's about you not trusting me and not taking our relationship seriously. Everything is all sunshine and happiness until one thing seems a little shady you dart for the nearest exit. Learn how to stay and not run when things get hard, Quinn. I do love you, okay? We just need to cool things down for a while. Maybe we took things a little too fast."
"Yeah, maybe we did," Quinn sadly agreed, thinking about what Rachel said.
"Thank you for understanding Quinn. I'll call you, I promise." Rachel said with a hand on Quinn's cheek.
Quinn reached her hand up to grasp Rachel's, "I love you." Quinn leaned in and kissed Rachel.
Rachel didn't want to pull away, but she didn't want to lead Quinn on, "I love you too, Quinn" Rachel said breaking the kiss.
"I'm going to work on this, okay?"
Rachel silently nodded her head and exited Quinn's home.
The moment the door shut, Quinn fell to the floor in tears. On the opposite side of the door where Rachel stood, the tiny diva was fighting tears of her own.
A/N2: OKay I know, that was tough, maybe not realistic, I don't know. Just know, they're not going to get back together for a few more chapter, we need to build up the trust and what not so bear with me, thanks! :) Again, don't hate me too much. REVIEW :)
