(Kix's POV)

"Hold still, this might sting a bit." I tell Sis, as I put some ointment on her knuckles. She only nods, not looking at me, she just stares at her hands. She makes a hissing noise and closes her eyes as I put the ointment on her knuckles, but she doesn't pull away. But when I finish, she pulls her hands away from me and she opens her eyes. She walks over to a bed and sits down, placing her hands on her lap and stares a them.

"I still need to put bandages on your hands." I sit down next to her. But the moment I try to grab her hands, she pushes my hands away and scoots away from me. But then she falls off the bed. I rush to her. "Sis, are you-"

"I'm fine." She says quietly, then she quickly gets on her feet, the she makes a hissing noise and cringes a bit. I looked at her hands, she must have hit them when she feel. I reach out to her hands but she pulls her hands close to her. "Don't touch me."

I sigh. "Please, I'm trying to help you."

"I don't need anyone's help." She snaps at me. She looks at her hands again, then she crosses her arms, but at least she was careful not to hurt her hands. "I'm not weak."

'I'm not weak'? Where did that come from? "I never said you were."

She scoffs and rolls her eyes. "You were implying it."

"How?"

She grabs her arms in a tight grip and gives a small growl. "All that 'want to help me' bullshit means that you don't think I can handle myself. Just because I was born wrong doesn't make me weak, Slick!" Then she tenses up. Then she turns away from me.

Did she just call me Slick? "What did you just say?"

She doesn't look at me, but she says, "I-I said just because I was born wrong doesn't make me w-weak, Kix." Then she remains silent

I know that's not what she said. She said Slick. I figured she was still angry at him. When I caught her punching the wall, she was shouting 'traitor' over and over.

"He said that?" I ask her. She doesn't say anything. "Slick said you were weak?" I try to keep the surprise out of my voice. I knew Slick and her were rather close, so I never thought he would say something like that to her, even if he was traitor, he seemed to actually care about her.

"No." She finally says, her voice seemed to shake. "He...he didn't say that. Directly." Then I saw her shake a bit, then I heard her sniffle a bit. When I see her wipe her eyes, I realized she was crying.

I walk up to her. "What exactly did he say?" She doesn't say anything, she just continues to shake and wipe her eyes, but I reach over her shoulder and grab her hand. "Don't. You'll get the ointment in your eyes." The moment my hand touched her hand, she stops shaking and just looks at my hand for a moment. Then she turns around and faces me, her eyes were wet from tears, and there were still tears streaming down her face.

Then she pulls away again. "It doesn't matter."

"Yes it does." I say to her. "I'm really sorry for what Slick did-"

"You shouldn't." She says, but her voice shaking. "You did nothing." Then she tries to walk away, but I grab her shoulders, and she pushes me away. "Stop touching me."

"Stop avoiding me." I say.

"Why does it matter?" She snaps at me. "It's not like you'll always be around. And it's not like it's good to be close to anyone here."

I was mildly shocked at what she said, but I don't show it. "What does that mean?"

She looks at me, glaring at me. "Don't you get?! We were born to be soldiers, and many of us will go, either by death or treachery! If I get close to any of you, I'm only allowing myself to get hurt more! If I start caring about anyone, I'll only give myself more pain than I already have!" Then she begins to sob. She falls onto her knees on the floor, hands on the floor and just staring down as she cries.

I think I fully understand now. "Do you really believe that?" I get on my knees in front of her. "I understand that you're still angry about what Slick has done, and it's true that we were born to be soldiers. But you shouldn't let that stop you from caring about others, and instead of avoiding the issue, you should really talk to someone."

"I have no one." She mumbles, when her crying mellows down.

I gently grab her hands, careful not to hurt her. "You have me." I say as comforting as I could be. "You can talk to me about anything, Sis. I promise I will listen and I will never try hurt you." She finally looks up at me, staring into my eyes, and I stare into hers. She then leans her head into my chest and begins to cry some more. When she finally stops, she looks up at me, then her hands. I give her a small smile. "I'll wrap your hands in bandages." Then we both get up and she sits on the bed while I get the bandages. As I wrap her hands, she doesn't say anything, but she doesn't pull away or tense up. When I finished, she slowly moves her hands from mine.

"Thank you." She says to me with a small smile. I smile back at her. Then she says, rather shyly "I..I love you Kix. I'm happy that you're my brother."

I smile to her. "I love you to, Sis. I'm happy that your my sister."
