Author's Note: Okay, so it's been a while but I whipped something up for you all. This is a time jump I guess and not really relevant to the most recent previous chapter. Some Grey's Anatomy characters make an appearance in NYC which is weird now that I think about it considering they live in seattle, but Oh Well, that's why it's called AU. This is a longer chapter, but basically fluff and a filler. Regardless of that, I hope everyone likes it, review!

CHAPTER SIXTEEN
QUINN POV
Quinn and Rachel have been together for 8 glorious month and they both could not be happier.
Rachel was in show season so that meant that the Broadway star spent even less time with her daughter. On the plus side, that did give Quinn and Magnolia time to bond and love each other even more.
Quinn was watching over the kids and keeping a special eye on her girlfriend's daughter who had just turned four the previous week. Quinn noticed today that Lia was not playing as much as she usually does and the sweet little girl had a forced smile on her face, like she was in pain.
"Lia, sweetie, could you come over here for a second," Quinn asked from her desk.
Lia got up from playing dolls and tried her hardest to get up to Quinn's desk as fast as possible, despite all her pain. "Yes Ms. Bray?"
"Are you feeling okay?" Quinn asked, pulling Lia closer and holding her hands.
Magnolia instantly started sniffling and some sort of dam broke and the little girl was now full on sobbing, "my tummy hurts so bad!"
"Oh my God, Lia. How long has your stomach been hurting this bad?"
"I c-can kinda read the digi clock and when I woke up it said 2 last night," Lia forced out through her tears.
"Okay, okay just calm down baby girl." Quinn felt Lia's forehead and the little girl was burning up. Quinn had an idea of what it might be but there was one last indicator she needed to check for. "Where exactly does it hurt?"
Lia point down to the side of her abdomen and Quinn's eyes went wide.
"Oh my gosh it's probably your appendix." Quinn reached for Lia and picked her up and ran to the doorway, shouting for Mercedes.
Mercedes instantly came from out of her and Marley's classroom after hearing Quinn's urgency. "What's going on?"
"I have to take Lia to the emergency room. I think she has appendicitis and I need you to watch my class for me, okay?"
"Sure thing, Q. Hurry!" Mercedes said passing Quinn and going in to the classroom full of confused little children.
"Thanks!" Quinn ran out of her classroom and made her way out the building like a track star to her car and strapped Lia into her car seat.
"Quiinnn, it hurrrrts," Lia cried from the backseat.
"I know baby girl, I know, but we will be at the hospital in just a second, okay?"
After speeding down the busy streets of New York Quinn finally made it to the hospital. The doctors in the ER saw how frantic Quinn was and tended to them immediately.
A tall black man with a black and white beard helped them out and introduced himself as he came over.
"Hello sweetheart, I'm Doctor Webber, what seems to be bothering you today?"
"This is Magnolia Berry. She answers to Lia."
Lia being shy stood up on the patient bed and wrapped her arms around Quinn's neck and buried her face, hiding away from the stranger.
"Hi, I'm Quinn Fabray, I'm Lia's teacher and—well I'm not sure what I am exactly anyways, I think Lia has appendicitis. Her fever is through the roof and she's complaining of severe stomach pains and hasn't stopped crying."
"Okay Ms. Fabray, I'll see what I can do." Dr. Webber turned to his colleague, "Get me a portable ultra sound right away."
The resident quickly came back with the Ultra-Sound machine and Dr. Webber slightly widened his eyes, "Ms. Fabray, her appendix is close to rupturing, we need to get her to the OR, now! I suggest you call her parents and I'll have someone come out to update them as soon as I can. The condition of her appendix is critical," Dr. Webber turned to no one in particular, "Page Dr. Robbins, now!"
Doctors started rushing around and grabbed a gurney to move Lia on to.
Magnolia started frantically looking around, terrified out of her mind. "Quinn! Quinn! Don't let them take me! Please Quinn, come with me!"
Quinn was trying to chase after the gurney, wheeling Magnolia away to surgery, "Lia! Sweetheart!" Quinn kept chasing but after the doctors wheeled Lia through some double doors, a nurse stopped her.
"I'm sorry ma'am, but only family members are allowed beyond this point." The woman said as nicely as possible.
"Are you kidding me? I am family. I need to be with Lia!"
"I'm sorry, but unless you are her mother I can't let you go. I truly am sorry. Now can I call her mother for you?"
"No—just—please, I am as much her mother as her actual mother is, please. I'm her mother's girlfriend, but she's basically my own, please."
"I am so, so sorry. It's protocol. I really wish I could help."
"You can help me by telling me where the operation waiting room is."
"Of course, follow me this way," Quinn reluctantly followed the woman, wanting to cry because Magnolia was scared and all alone right now.
RACHEL POV
Rachel was rehearsing the second act of her performance, which was her absolute favorite because it was with her best friend, Santana. The two girls were laughing and enjoying themselves when the stage manager came and tapped Rachel on the shoulder.
"Sorry to interrupt, Ms. Berry, but you have 5 missed calls from a Quinn Fabray on your cellphone and she's on the theater line right now."
Rachel's heart stopped in her chest and she froze. "D-D-Did she say what's wrong? Where's the phone?" Rachel ran backstage and picked up her cellphone and instantly called Quinn back.
"Rachel?"
"Quinn, what's wrong?" Rachel could tell that Quinn was crying and already that was not a good sign.
"It's Lia, she was complaining that her stomach was hurting and she was burning up Rach, like seriously burning and so I took her to the ER and they confirmed she had appendicitis, but they said her condition was critical. Rachel, they wouldn't let me be with her and hold her hand. They said I'm not family and I couldn't be with her. I didn't want to leave her all alone. I'm so, so sorry. This is my fault. I should've noticed sooner. I'm sorry."
Rachel was processing everything Quinn told her. She can't believe her baby girl is in critical condition. Rachel was brought back o reality by the sound of Quinn's voice.
"Rachel?" Quinn was still hysterical.
"I'm here, baby. Just calm down, I'll be there in five minutes. Sit tight, everything will be okay." Rachel said, being strong for her girlfriend.
"Okay, I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to be sorry for I love you, be there soon, bye."
Rachel quickly grabbed her things and filled Santana in. Of course the Latina wasn't going to let Rachel go alone, or not check on Magnolia herself. They got in the town car and were off to the hospital, only a minute after the phone call ended.
QUINN POV
Quinn was sitting with her head in her hands, crying, because she wanted to be able to be with Lia until the last second. It just wasn't fair.
Quinn brought her head up when she heard Santana loudly demanding to know where her goddaughter was. Rachel calmly asked where her daughter was and they told her Magnolia was still in surgery. The nurse at the desk handed Rachel a few sheets of paperwork to fill out. The kind nurse who took Quinn to the waiting room physically closest to Lia walked up to Rachel and explained to her that her girlfriend was here and pointed in Quinn's direction. Rachel thanked the nurse and made her way to Quinn.
"Quinn!"
Quinn quickly stood up and met Rachel halfway to embrace her. Quinn was loudly sobbing while Rachel held her, rubbing her back, and telling her everything was going to be okay.
"I was so scared and so angry they wouldn't let me see her. I'm not family, Rach."
"Yes you are, Quinn." Rachel grabbed Quinn's face into her hands, "What if I make you one of her emergency contacts that way they have to let you in, okay?"
Quinn nodded her head and wrapped her arms back around Rachel. "I called Kurt too, he's going to be here as soon as he can.
"Okay, baby."
"I wish I could've known sooner, she was just trying to be so strong and ignore the pain."
"Ugh, her stubbornness obviously came from me. It's okay though, at least you got her here when you did."
Three doctors, one being Dr. Webber from earlier, another one with blonde hair, blue eyes and dimples, and the last with auburn-brown hair sticking out of her scrub cap walked out, "Family of Magnolia Berry?"
Santana, Rachel and Quinn ran over to the doctor.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Robbins, the pediatric surgeon on your daughter's case. Her surgery was a success, but do too the damage around the appendix we had to make a longer incision. No big deal, but that just means a bigger scar."
"So she's okay?"
"Yep, she's in recovery right now, and you're welcome to go see her now." The auburn haired doctor smiled. "Hi, I'm Lexie Grey, I was wondering if I could get your autograph later today, Ms. Berry, I'm a huge fan."
"Of course, anything for the doctor who helped save my baby girl. Come by Magnolia's room later tonight and I'll have it for you," Rachel said with a beaming smile.
"Great! I'll show you to her room."
When they entered Magnolia's room she was sound asleep, but she looked so different hooked up to all those machines and whatnot.
Rachel went to her bedside and grabbed her daughter's tiny little hand and kissed it. Rachel put the hand on her own face and started to cry, happy that Lia was okay.
"M-Mommy? Why are you crying?" A quiet voice strained out.
"Oh my Gosh, Thank God you're okay."
"Sanny?"
"I'm here baby girl." Santana walked to Lia's other side and kissed the girl on her forehead, "Don't you ever scare me like that again."
"I sorry Sanny."
Quinn slowly got closer to Lia's bed, "Hey baby, how you feeling?"
"Why did you leave me?"
Quinn burst into tears and went to the end of Lia's bed and touched her legs, "I am so sorry. You know I would've been with you if I could, th-they wouldn't let me."
"Why not?"
"Because I'm not your mommy or related to you by blood."
"That's not fair."
"I know, but I'm here now, okay?"
"Okay. I love you, Quinn and thanks for bringing me to the doctor."
"Anything for you," Quinn leaned forward and gave the little girl a hug and a kiss.
