Opening my eyes I was surprised when I found Jason watching over me, when I didn't feel Alison in my arm I began to panic and searching the room for her.
"She's at school," Jason whispered quietly. I was confused looking out the nearest window and saw it was very bright outside.
"Oh," I say still waking up.
"One of her teachers had some test and hers couldn't be pushed back, I'm guessing she didn't tell you," I shook my head and slowly sat up from my miniature bed.
"The only way I made her go was if I stayed here all day and watched over you, Noel picked her up and I've been here reading the whole day, watching you."
"Thanks," I said not really knowing what else to say.
"Don't worry about it, I've done it many times before."
"What are you talking about?"
"When we went to Matt's parties you were always a lightweight and I didn't trust those guys around you, so even in my drunken state I watched over you and made sure no one hurt you."
"I never knew that," I say extremely surprised.
"I always felt guilty for taking you to those parties and getting you into that situation."
"What situation?"
"You can't tell me you forget," Jason said surprised.
"Oh, that one. It wasn't your fault and we agreed to never bring it up again."
"I'm sorry, after what Matt said yesterday it's just been weighing on my mind.
"Matt's an idiot, just like you are. We were escaped that world, why on earth would you go back?"
"Do you remember how bad I got after Alison disappearance?"
"Yeah, you used to say you felt numb."
"I began to feel that numbness again, I just thought I could feel again if I did that stuff again."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"We were sort of fighting or back on good terms, you had Ali."
"But still, I used to be that person you'd turn to when those urge came."
"Yeah."
"So what does Matt want from you?"
"I just owe him money for the drugs he supplied me with the other week."
"How much?" I asked worried.
Jason said without blinking "Seven hundred with fifty dollars interested for taking so long."
"Dammit Jason, how'd you blow that much drugs?"
"I didn't, I had half and flushed the other half after your fight," Jason's answer surprised me.
"What are you going to do?"
"I've sold all of my comics from when I was growing up, they are rare but I've only got half."
Sighing as I shake my head, I say "Here," pulling my wallet out of my pocket I hand over at least two hundred and thirty dollars.
"Wow Emily, where did you get this money and why are you crying this much on you?"
"My Dad sends me money every month and I just got paid a couple of days ago, I can't exactly go to the bank in my condition."
I asked before he can say anything "How much more do you need?"
"Another hundred and fifty," Jason said while doing the equation in his head.
"You don't have anything else worth selling?"
"I guess I could sell some of my suits back to the store, it won't be much but I have a lot suits."
"Well get on it before Matt becomes impatient."
"Right, I'll do it once Alison gets back."
"Good, what happened last time can't happen again," I say looking him dead in the eye.
"I know Emily," Jason said calmly.
"Let what happen again last time?" Our eyes widen as we turned to see Alison standing there.
"Ali, when did you get home?" Jason asked freaked out.
"Never mind that, just answer my question," Alison said.
I say "Jason, I've got this you just go do what needs to be done."
"Are you sure?"
"Just go before I change my mind," I say and Jason nods his head before heading upstairs.
Alison asked as she sat down next to me "What's going on Emily? And don't lie to me."
"I wasn't even thinking of doing it," I say we hear Jason race downstairs and out the door with all his suits.
I asked "Do you remember me telling you about Jason and giving me the alcohol back then?"
"Yes."
"Well that wasn't it, that guy Matt is a very shady character. That night he came over here, him and Jason were smoking weed up in Jason room."
"How do you know that?" Alison asked worried.
"After your disappearance I was messed up and Jason saw the alcohol wasn't working anymore, so he invited me to this party on the shady side of town. I agreed to go and that's when I met Matt, I don't remember how Jason knew him but that night the three of us smoked a joint together."
"That can be dangerous," I heard the concern in Alison voice.
"I know but we were so messed up. One time while high Jason was an idiot and stole from Matt, he stole at least three kilos worth of weed; which is a lot of money to steal. Jason had smoked it all before Matt figured out who did it, he gave Jason two choice. Jason could either pay him all back or I had to, umm…go out with him before having sex with him," I say the last bit very slow knowing how much this would affect Alison.
Alison asked "What did Jason do?" I could see the tears waiting to fall from Alison eyes, I knew she was thinking about what happened to her and I hated making her relive it.
Taking a deep breath I say "Jason scrapped everything he had together and he just had enough to pay Matt back for the weed stole, but."
"But what?" Alison asked confused.
"But that wasn't enough for Matt, he didn't want the money and it had never been about the money."
"He wanted to have sex with you, didn't he?"
"Yes."
"Did you?" Alison asked not judgemental at all.
"At first I wasn't going too, I told him there was no way in hell I would have sex with him. He didn't like that answer and started stalking me, he even got these guys to beat me up. I couldn't take it anymore, I didn't think there was any way out."
"Em, whatever happened it wasn't your fault and I love you so much," Alison reached out and placed her hand in mine.
"I remember coming here, I sat Jason down in his room and I told him what I was going to do. He told me I couldn't, he told me that you would never forgive me if I did what I was planning. I didn't listen to him, I told him I couldn't keep walking around without a purpose because my purpose in life was gone."
Before I could continue Alison breathed out "Oh my god, Emily you didn't?"
"When I left I felt this peacefulness come over me, it was like I had made the right decision it was so powerful. So the next day at school, I was ghost I didn't say one word and I think I was wanting to reach out and just tell me my new purpose in life but no one did. After school that day, I calmly walked up to the hill with a thick piece of rope. The groundskeeper found me up there; he pulled me down and called the paramedics. They say I was out for at least two minutes before the paramedics revived me. I spent the next 72 hours on suicide watch; my Mum kept crying and on the last day Jason and Matt showed up. The three of us talked and it was decided we'd never contact Matt ever again and he was the same."
Alison asked still in shock "Why did Jason get back in contact with him again?"
"I think Jason felt guilty for everything that went down while you were gone, he doesn't realise that I could've said no but I didn't. Like I've said, I was a complete mess and so was Jason."
"He needs to stop feeling guilty."
"He won't, in his mind what happened was all his fault and if I hadn't of been around when you called then who knows what would've happened."
"That's a scary thought."
"I know, that's why I try not to think about it."
I quickly say "Look only my parents, Jason, Matt, the groundskeeper, the doctors that day and my counsellor back then know what I did, no one else knows and if they do they haven't said anything."
"I won't tell anyone."
"I don't mind if you do, I just don't want the girls to know they feel guilty enough. I don't want them blaming themselves for something I chose to do."
Alison said "You almost sound like you've forgiven them."
I smiled and replied with "Looks like I have, I won't forget obvious but I guess I can forgive them."
"That's really great Emily and thank-you for telling me, I know it was hard for you."
"It was but now you know everything, everything that happened while you were away."
"That's good, maybe we can both finally move on from it all," Alison said in hope.
"We'll see, now tell me about this test. How did it go?" I asked curious and really wanting to change the subject.
"It was hard, which means you have some study to do." I couldn't help but groan after Alison said I had to do some study, studying was the last thing I wanted to do.
"Don't worry, I'll help you," Alison spoke before pecking my lips.
I then found myself asking "How did I get so lucky to have you in my life?"
"I don't know babe but luck is running both ways here," Alison smiled across at me and I felt my heart melting.
