Chapter Twenty Four: Kenzi and Bo's Ultimate Decision
"Kenzi! Bo! You CANNOT be serious!" Alex yelled in frustration as she turned to face her girlfriend.
"Babe would you-" Kenzi started before Tamsin cut her off yelling.
"Bo I am so not okay with this! You're freaking pregnant! WE ARE HAVING A BABY! You go into Kenzi's Dawning and if she fails YOU BOTH DIE!" the Valkyrie screamed as she felt her emotions getting the best of her.
"Tamsin, I know but Kenzi and-" Bo started before Alex cut her off in her outrage.
"You can't do this to us Kenz! We… You and I.. I CAN'T LOSE YOU! This is such bullshit! There has to be another damn way!" Alex said frantically as she felt herself spiraling into an uncontrollable emotional breakdown and her eyes flashed red as her breathing became rapid.
"Alex calm down!" Kenzi said as she tried to step towards her girlfriend but stopped when she saw Alex flip a chair and turn to look at Tamsin with rage and pleading in her eyes.
"Tamsin can we just talk about-" Bo said but yet again was cut off by an outraged Valkyrie.
"We can just go fucking kill the bastard now! I'm not about to lose my wife, unborn child AND moms to Odin! NO! Bo this is suicide! I will NOT let Odin have this fucking control over me again!" Tamsin said as she felt her inner Valkyrie screaming to be unleashed. Tamsin's eyes were now pitch black and she turned throwing a glass beside her into the wall, shocking everyone with her outburst.
Trick and Acacia looked at one another, then to the sisters who seemed to be out of control. Bo and Kenzi glanced at each other, no words were needed, they knew they needed to do this to keep their dysfunctional and crazy family safe. There was no other way, if there was then they would have known about it by now. Together Bo and Kenzi knew that they were most powerful, damn near unstoppable, all they had to do was convince their beloved blondes to let them go, but it was impossible to get a word in with both Tamsin and Alex so upset.
Something was happening with the sisters, the thoughts and emotions of Kenzi and Bo going in to the Dawning early was causing a break down that neither could handle, but why? What was happening to make this so uncontrollable?
"ENOUGH!" Freya yelled, silencing the entire room, "We are all going to talk about this like ADULTS! Do you understand? Tamsin, Alex… COME HERE! NOW!"
Alex glanced at Tamsin, who was looking at her sister, both were panting and had their fists clenched tightly. Both blonde's had their eyes morphed to their fae form and ready to kill anyone and everyone who dared to put their girls in danger.
"I SAID NOW!" Freya said in a booming deep voice that caused Acacia and Trick to both jump back and towards Bo and Kenzi. The Blood King and Elder Valkyrie each grabbed the arm of Kenzi and Bo and were now holding them back. All four of them scared from the power in the tone Freya used with the two blonde's.
Alex and Tamsin both cringed and closed their eyes as they walked over to the goddess before them. As they approached, Freya grabbed them both by the throat and brought them up to her where both of their feet were no longer on the ground and the two were struggling against the tight grip of the Queen.
"Should we intervene?" Bo whispered to Trick and Acacia as both she and Kenzi began to move forward seeing their lovers in the hands of a goddess who could easily kill them with the bat of an eyelash.
"No…" Trick said as he tightened his grip on Bo's arm in an attempt to reassure her.
"She's not going to kill them is she?" Kenzi whispered as she kept her gaze on her girlfriend.
"No, not unless they continue to piss her off. Freya loves those two morons more than life. Think of this as her way of showing tough love to calm their asses down…" Acacia whispered as she patted Kenzi's shoulder.
"Valkyrie's have a unique way of showing tough love don't they?" Bo said in a low tone as she watched the encounter before her unfold.
Freya's voice was terrifying and stern as she spoke to the two women in her grasp, "You two are like daughters to me! I have never felt such anger radiating off individuals before nor have I ever felt so disrespected! You WILL calm down and you WILL behave or so help me I will strip you both of your powers until this is all over and then you won't be worth a damn to anyone! Together you two have enough power to destroy the entire continent! Now when I release you, you are BOTH going to calm down and listen to what Kenzi and Bo have to say and we will go from there and devise a plan! Do you understand me Alexcia and Thamosia?"
Alex and Tamsin both flinched from the venom in Freya's words and both the blonde's nodded as they looked to the goddess. Freya nodded and slowly put the two down on to the ground as she loosened her grip on the sisters. Alex reached up and grabbed her neck as she stumbled backwards and flopped onto the chair at the other side of the room.
Tamsin rubbed her neck and cracked her neck as she leaned against the post in the middle of the Dal. Neither sister had said a word since released from Freya's grip, but the rage and colors in their eyes had faded and they were now back to their emerald shine.
"Right… Well… Now that we've taken care of the damn hot heads… Should we talk about the freakin' issue at hand?" Acacia said cautiously as she moved away from Kenzi and looked around the room.
"Yes, we should. Bo, Kenzi… Would you two like to speak about this decision you've made?" Trick said as he sighed and crossed his arms.
"Yeah but you bitches all need to listen to what I have to say? Got it… And I mean listen to ALL of what I need to say and then we can cat fight and all that shit" Kenzi said as she stepped into the middle of the room.
Everyone seemed to look at the small Russian and nod, except for Alex. The blonde Ember refused to make eye contact with her girlfriend.
"Go ahead moms…" Tamsin said quietly as she looked to Kenzi.
"Alright… I know this is probably insane sounding, I mean I'm kinda sorta freaking the fuck out about it but Freya's right… Acacia is right. If we are going to protect baby ass kicker we need to be on top of our game and until I complete my Dawning we don't have that and we all know it. You all have made sacrifices for me. Tamsin look at everything you have done for me and for Bo…. Alex, you can be as pissed as me as you want but you went off and freaking died for me, without telling me shit by the way… This is right. I can feel it in my heart. This is what I have to do. I feel like I CAN do this, and I need you all to support me, not bitch and scream and tell me what I can or cannot do. I want to enter my Dawning early. I am gonna go all up in that shit and kick its fae ass and come out a badass Ember hot mama and we are gonna go tear up shit in Valhalla and knock this Odin poser off his damn high horse and protect our little soon to be snot nosed brat. I'm going to do this…" Kenzi said as she looked around the room.
Bo looked at Tamsin, who glanced up at her with her green eyes beaming through unshed tears. The Valkyrie sighed and gave a reluctant nod to the Succubus. Bo gave a regretful and heartbreaking half smile as she walked over beside her best friend and took Kenzi's hand.
"WE are going to do this Kenz. If you're going in, I'm going with you…" Bo said as she smiled.
Kenzi looked up at Bo, tightened her grip on the Succubus's finger and grinned.
"Normally I would say hells to the no Bo Bo but honestly I just have this feeling that I need you there with me" Kenzi said as she leaned in, hugging Bo tightly.
"The odds of success are greater with Bo by your side" Trick said with a sad voice as he tried to be understanding.
"You're seriously okay with this?" Alex asked as she looked to the Blood King.
"I'm with Kenzi. I have a feeling in my gut this is the right choice for all of us. She can do this, and with Bo by her side I have nothing but confidence in them" Trick said as he smiled to his granddaughter. Bo simply nodded and returned the smile.
"Alright so it's agreed? We are sending baby fae and my daughter-in-law into the Dawning early?" Acacia said as she looked to the two in the middle.
Kenzi and Bo both nodded as they looked to Freya.
"It shall be done then. Give me a moment to prepare. Say your farewells. When I send Kenzi and Bo into the Dawning, Alex and Tamsin… I want the two of you to go to Valhalla and hide out in your old house in the meadow. Lay low and wait. I'll make sure that when Kenzi and Bo complete the Dawning they be sent directly to Valhalla. With Bo being bonded to a Valkyrie as well as carrying the child of our powerful warrior, then it allows for her to pass between the realms freely and be granted passage to Valhalla. When the four of you are reunited then I'll arrange for a sanctioned meeting with Odin where you can buy some time. You'll all be protected by the laws of the Valkyrie's and you'll be able to speak with him to devise a plan to protect your child and give you time to figure out your next move. Understand?" Freya asked as she looked around.
"Go to Valhalla with Alex. Hide out. Wait to see if my wife, kid and moms survive. Go talk to Odin and try to see what he's up to. Attempt to talk sense into him. If we can't then start plotting a way to fucking kill him. Got it…" Tamsin said in a defeated tone.
"Okay, so what do we do to prepare for this shindig?!" Kenzi asked as she clapped her hands together, trying to ease the tension in the room.
"Shindig? Seriously? This isn't a fucking game Kenzi… I… You know what, forget it…" Alex said as she got up and stormed out of the Dal.
Kenzi closed her eyes and sighed, "Damnit…" Kenzi whispered as she fought back tears.
"Go after her dumbass…" Acacia said softly as she walked up and put a hand on Kenzi's shoulder. "She's scared, upset, and she needs you. Hell you need to talk to her before you fucking go in to this thing. Go… She's just worried baby fae. Tell her ass you'll be fine. We all know you're going to pass…" The elder Valkyrie said as she smiled.
"Thanks Acacia…" Kenzi said as she smiled and walked out of the Dal to find her girlfriend.
"Tamsin, can I talk to you?" Bo asked as she walked over to her wife.
"Sure…" Tamsin said in a saddened tone.
The Succubus grabbed the Valkyrie's hand and lead her to the lounge of the Dal.
"They're going to be okay right?" Acacia asked as she crossed her arms and sighed.
"Who? Alex and Kenzi? Or Bo and Tamsin?" Trick asked as he frowned and looked towards Acacia.
"All of them…" Acacia said softly as she gave a worried look to the smaller man.
"They'll be great" Freya said from the corner of the room as she glanced up from the book she was reading, giving Trick and Acacia a reassuring smile.
"I hope you're right old friend" Acacia said as she looked towards the lounge, her heart slowly breaking as she saw the pain written on Tamsin's face, and knowing Alex was outside an emotional wreck.
"They can do this. We must believe it… Our family needs us now more than ever…" Trick said as he put a hand on Acacia's shoulder, which the elder quickly grabbed and held tightly.
"Tamsin I… I don't know what to say…" Bo said as she sat on the couch.
Tamsin was standing against the opposite wall with her arms crossed, clearly unhappy.
"Nothing you can say. I know you. This is something you've got to do… But that doesn't make it any easier to accept Bo. This isn't just me potentially losing you. It's me losing you and our kid. This sucks… So bad…" Tamsin said as her voice cracked.
Bo felt her heart breaking as she could feel the pain from the woman she loved. Bo spoke softly, "Tamsin. I can do this. Kenzi can do this. She needs me there beside her. That girl has gone through hell and back and not once has she ever left my side, I can't abandon her. If you or Alex go in with her it won't be the same and we both know that. I can't explain it but I have this feeling that this is right, this is what I'm suppose to do… It's like it's my-"
"Destiny… I know Bo…" Tamsin said as she looked up, her eyes finally locking with the brown eyes of the Succubus.
Bo got up off the couch and walked over to Tamsin, who opened her arms, pulling Bo in for a tight hug as she kissed the top of the Succubus's head.
"We can do this Tamsin…" Bo whispered as she gripped Tamsin's back tightly.
"I know you can babe, I know… It just doesn't get any easier letting you go… I know I have to through, but damn if it doesn't hurt like hell…" Tamsin said as the burning tears finally fell from her eyes.
Bo couldn't help but begin to cry into the tight embrace of her Valkyrie.
"We are going to make it, we always do. Kenzi and I are going to pass her Dawning, meet you in Valhalla and we are going to protect our family… Just promise me you'll still love me…" Bo said as she cried into her hug with the blonde.
Tamsin pulled back and cupped Bo's face tenderly as she looked into the tear filled eyes of the Succubus. Both women now crying as the tears streamed down their faces.
Tamsin spoke sweetly as she maintained eye contact with her wife, "I will love you for eternity Bo, and not a moment less. I'll always love you. I know this is something you have to do, it doesn't mean I like it, but it damn sure doesn't mean I don't love you. You are everything to me. Don't you ever doubt that… Just come back to me Bo… God please come back to me…"
Bo cried as she leaned in, clashing her lips against Tamsin's in a tender kiss.
"Always Tamsin, always…" Bo whispered as she pulled back just enough to speak these words.
Kenzi walked outside of the Dal looking left and right in search of her girlfriend.
The Russian heard a loud bang from the corner alley of the Dal, and then saw smoke arising from the side of the building with flames flying out and a trash can flying across the street ablaze.
"Well, at least I know where she's at…" Kenzi whispered as she took a deep breath, knowing she was about to face a very pissed off girlfriend.
Kenzi rounded the corner of the Dal to see Alex punch a dumpster with her hands on fire.
With her hands still on the now bent and somewhat melted dumpster, Alex was panting but spoke softly, "This isn't fair…"
"Tell me about it pyro. I got a late invite to the Dawning show and now I'm bumping that shit up to VIP" Kenzi said with a nervous chuckle.
Alex looked over her shoulder with a glare.
"Right… No jokes. Sorry…" Kenzi said as she threw her hands up in a surrendering motion.
"Do you have any idea what you're about to face?" Alex asked as she turned around to face her girlfriend.
"No, I don't. But it would be a hell of a lot easier to face if my girlfriend wasn't being such an ass and was actually supporting me" Kenzi said as she crossed her arms.
"It's not that easy Kenzi…" Alex said through gritted teeth.
"Actually it is Alex. YOU DIED! You went off and literally got yourself killed! WITHOUT SAYING SHIT ABOUT IT! At least I'm giving you a damn good heads up! I don't get it! You get to go off doing all this suicidal 'save the world and play hero' bullshit and I get to be the damsel in distress! I'm not weak Alex! YOU made me fae! YOU gave me powers and now it's my chance to prove to everyone that I can handle this life! Why can't you be supportive? Why can't you be okay with this? Why can't you see that I am capable of taking care of myself? Why can't you-" Kenzi's angered rant was cut off by Alex walking towards her, grabbing her and pulling her in to one of the most heated kisses the Russian had ever experienced. A kiss that screamed love, passion, and desire.
Alex pulled away, but keeping her grip on Kenzi's cheeks so that she was looking at the baby fae.
"Because I'm freaking terrified to lose you dammit! Don't you get it?! I love you Kenzi! I love you so much the thought of losing you AGAIN is killing me right now! Yes, I was an ass and went and got myself killed TO SAVE YOU, not to watch you march in to your Dawning early! I CAN'T EVEN BE THERE! I would kill to protect you and be beside you but I know I can't go and it's tearing me apart! I know you can do this, trust me! If I had any doubt in my mind you WEREN'T strong enough I would have never willed you my powers! But dammit Kenzi I am in love for the first time in my life, head over heels, my heart has chosen you, I want YOU forever kinda love and I JUST got that back and for the first time ever I am freaking PETRIFIED and I don't know how to handle it so excuse me for being a bit of a jackass when the woman I want to marry is parading to her Dawning and all I get to do is sit back and watch and wait!" Alex yelled as she gripped Kenzi tighter.
Kenzi was speechless. She had never heard Alex say such words and the emotion pouring from the blonde was so raw, so real.
"Alex…" Kenzi whispered as she put her hands on the blonde's hips, holding her close.
"I know… I'm having a bit of a freak out…" Alex said as she rolled her eyes.
Kenzi couldn't help but chuckle at her girlfriend.
"It's okay to be scared right now. It's okay to freak out. I mean hello, don't you think I had a minor Kenzi frenzy fit when your dumbass was reborn and threw a damn fireball at my head as a 7 year old?" Kenzi said as both she and Alex chuckled.
"I don't want to lose you Kenzi. I just… It sucks knowing I have to sit back and do nothing while you go through this with Bo. Which I mean I kinda love her too, and the unborn brat" Alex said as she sighed.
"Believe in me… I can do this and you know it" Kenzi said softly.
"I do believe in you, more than anyone in this world or any realm. I know you can do this, but it doesn't make letting you go any easier. It doesn't make the thought of not being beside you any less painful. I died and thought I lost you, I spent time away from you and even though I didn't have my memories, not being beside you really made me feel like a piece of me was gone… I need you Kenzi. I need you alive, and I need you here. I just… I don't know, I've never felt this way about anyone, and I don't want to let it go. I know you can do this, I just wish I could be there with you. But I guess since I went and got myself killed you are allowed one freebie at a death mission" Alex said as she and Kenzi both smiled and lightly giggled.
After the giggles died down the two sat there looking lovingly into each others eyes.
"Babe… Do you really want to spend the rest of your life with me?" Kenzi asked as she leaned forward, pressing her forehead against Alex's.
"I mean, maybe…" Alex said as she grinned.
"I mean ya kinda said you did sooooo…." Kenzi said in a taunting but cute manner.
"So yeah, I love you and I want to be with you forever" Alex said as she rolled her eyes.
"Did the big bad pyro just say she ACTUALLY wants to settle down? I think that's a first" Kenzi said as she pecked Alex's lips.
"There's a first time for everything…" Alex said softly as she closed her eyes and brushed her nose against Kenzi's.
"Mmmm, so are ya gonna put a ring on it?" Kenzi said as she smiled.
"Well, I guess you're just gonna have to kick ass in your Dawning to find out" Alex said as she leaned in, kissing Kenzi one last time before they headed inside.
As Kenzi and Alex walked into the Dal holding hands, they saw Bo and Tamsin leaning against the bar, hugging one another tightly while Trick and Acacia stood beside Freya.
"It's time…" Freya said softly as she motioned for Bo and Kenzi to walk to her.
