Chapter Twenty Six: Russian Madness
Alex and Tamsin popped the top on two beers as they made their way out to two chairs on the front porch of their cottage in Valhalla that overlooked the mountains and hills in the glorious afterlife.
"If someone would have told me a few hundred years ago that we would be back in Valhalla, drinking beers and waiting on two women, who are complete jackasses we are stupidly in love with, to return from the Dawning of an Ember you wielded powers to just to go talk shit to Odin… I would have probably slaughtered them on the spot" Tamsin said with a light chuckle.
"For real though, like how the hell did we end up here in this situation?" Alex said as she laughed.
"We fell in love, well, I fell in love and then you showed up and spit some game at moms and now I'm married to a courages ass hat who's gorgeous and carrying my kid, and you're dating a wild Russian firecracker. Look who we're with Alex, we both knew those two would find some huge trouble sooner or later" Tamsin said as she looked at the sun setting over the hills.
"True. I mean I knew Kenzi would find some sort of crazy ass fae trouble, but to go in to her Dawning hella early and drag the preggers Succubus with her… Girlfriend has set a damn record for finding a mess" Alex said as she kicked her feet up on the porch rail.
"She's definitely a mess," Tamsin said with a laugh, "But she's strong. She'll kick ass in the Dawning and then I get my hot wife back"
"They're gonna come back to us, right?" Alex asked as she looked over to her sister.
"Yeah they will…" Tamsin said as she took a long drink from her beer. "She's got Bo with her… And it's not in Bo's nature to fail… Kenzi's either."
Alex smiled and clanked her bottle against her sisters as she tipped it back and drank.
"So what craziness do you think those two have encountered in the hour they've been gone?" Alex said as she grinned.
"God, I don't even want to think about the shit those two have managed to get themselves in so far…" Tamsin said as she started to chuckle.
"Care to introduce me Kenz?" Bo whispered as she moved closer to her best friend.
"Not really… This is bad news bears Bo Bo…" Kenzi whispered back as she tightened her grip on Bo's hand.
"What's wrong Kenzi? Not in the mood to catch up with an old friend?" Kenny said with a sly grin.
"What? Me? Of course I would love to catch up but you know how the parentals are. Gots to run home and check on the fam" Kenzi said with a nervous chuckle.
"Oh I bet… Don't you want to stay and party some? I remember all those nights your parents kicked you out and you needed a place to crash you'd come over… Ah the memories" The man said as he and his friends all started to walk closer, still fiddling with their knives, eyeing the two women.
"Yeah, I remember…" Kenzi said in a low voice as she looked away and down at the ground.
"Kenz… What's wrong…" Bo said as she noticed her best friend obviously dealing with the memories this Kenny guy was bringing back.
"Nothing. We need to get out of here and to my old house…" Kenzi said as she looked to Bo.
Bo simply nodded and gave a reassuring smirk.
"Who's your friend Kenzi?" one of the other men asked as he started undressing the Succubus with his eyes.
"Back off Cam…" Kenzi said as her eyes snapped back up and she moved in front of Bo protectively.
"No freakin way! You're a fucking homo?!" Kenny yelled as he and the other men started laughing.
"Look Ken, I'm not trying to start shit. I need to get home. So I'm telling you to back off, and take your band of horribly dressed wanna be mafia groupies with you" Kenzi snarled as she gave a threatening stare.
"Oh I'm sorry, clearly you forgot how things work around the streets darling. You don't get to talk to me like that and you sure as hell don't get to disgrace your family name by becoming a carpet muncher. You know what happens to fags around this area" Kenny said as he continued walking closer with his knife outstretched. "Ready to pay the price?"
"You know what Kenny, I've had enough of your macho bullshit and damn well enough of everyone around here hating on the gay way. I'm warning you. Back the hell up and I won't hurt you" Kenzi said as she felt the anger rising in her.
"Like you could baby" Kenny said as he glanced around at his friends.
"There's 4 of us and 2 of you.. I'm liking our odds" said one of the pale men from the corner.
"Even think about touching us and I promise you'll regret it" Bo said as she took a fighting stance beside her best friend.
"I always did like them feisty" Cam said as he lunged forward towards Kenzi.
"Then you'll love me" Bo said as she threw her foot up, kicking the man backwards.
Kenzi felt her eyes flash red as she dove forward tackling Kenny to the ground and putting one hand on his neck and held the other up in the air as red flames filled her palm.
The shock on everyone's face was clear as they looked at the blue eyed Succubus in a fighting stance in front of them with her dagger drawn, and the tiny Russian Ember pinning their leader to the ground with fire in her hand.
"I could kill you for all the shit you put me through. Then you grow a pair and try to mess with me and my bestie in a creepy dark ally with 3 of your little fake ass Russian thugs? No… The days of you having some effed up control over me are so done. I'm gonna let you go, and you and your friends here are going to run the hell away or so help me I will roast your nuts over a damn camp fire. Got it?" Kenzi said in a low and threatening tone as she brought her fiery palm closer to the man's face.
All Kenny could do was whimper and nod his head quickly as he looked up at Kenzi in sheer terror.
"Get out of here…" Kenzi said as she hopped off the man and stood to her feet beside Bo.
Kenny jumped off the ground and took off sprinting down the ally with the other three men as they frantically tried to get away from the two women.
"Well, that wasn't so bad" Kenzi said as she wiped off her jacket.
"Yeahhhh…" Bo said as she looked around. "Care to fill me in on who the hell they were?"
"I'll talk as we walk Succu-bitch. The quicker we figure out what the hell is going on the quicker we can scoot back to real life time and away from this place and all the bullshit home sweet home brings" Kenzi said as she grabbed Bo and started to quickly walk down the ally.
Bo followed Kenzi through a maze of dark streets, still confused by who she just encountered.
"So want the long story or the short version?" Kenzi finally said as they walked back down a main street.
"Short version since we seem to be on a time crunch" Bo said as she scanned the area for any danger.
"Pretty much when my mamma and step douche would kick me out and I needed a place that wasn't freezing and outside by the dumpsters I would go over to Kenny's place, which was like a drug party every night with free booze. I kinda, sorta, maybe did one too many drugs and made several bad life choices that lead to me in the sheets with that creep and he was kinda a 'I hate gays so let me lead my stupid ass friends out to beat the shit out of them' dude and yeah… I saw him do some horrible things. Even watched him kill a guy one time. Dude was outta control and on LSD all the time. But when I needed a place to crash he always said yes so… Yeah…" Kenzi said as she continued walking down the street.
"Wow… Kenzi… I.. That's horrible" Bo said sympathetically as she tightened her grip on Kenzi's hand.
"Yeah, I mean if you're wondering why I was a little freaked out by falling for Alex, that's part of it. But I mean growing up around here it was survival of the fittest baby and let me tell ya, I ain't big and threatening so I had to work the skills I learned and go with it to make it out. You saw a flash of what my mom was like in that test the janky witch threw us in. Shit got real and half the time it was bad, but I made it out and stumbled across your ass so I can't complain" Kenzi said as she glanced to Bo and smiled.
"You never cease to amaze me Kenz" Bo said with a smile.
"I try. Okay Boobalicious, welcome to mi casa… I apologize in advance for whatever the hell we are about to walk in to" Kenzi said as she gave a nervous laugh and smirk.
"I got you Kenz… Let's do this" Bo said as they walked up the stairs and to the door of a grey townhouse.
"Holy… Shittles…" Kenzi said as she opened the door and looked around.
"Uhm Kenz…?" Bo asked as her jaw dropped.
"So not how I remembered home… Where the fae are we?" Kenzi asked as she spun her body around, glancing at what used to be her home.
Alex and Tamsin were on the porch, each about half a case in to the beer.
"Man, is it just me or does this shit suck so much worse when you're stuck waiting around?" Alex said as she threw a dagger at the wooden target at the end of the porch.
"Dude this is horrible. Like this waiting around is a bitch. Remind me again why we let them go?" Tamsin pouted as she chucked her empty beer bottle at the rocks, giggling when it shattered.
"Because we love them…" Alex sighed as she lit a cigarette.
"And because even if we told them no they were still gonna go" Tamsin said as she cracked open another beer.
"That too" Alex said as she laughed.
"So we are suppose to be training and shit right?" Tamsin said as she laughed. "But instead we are drunk and smoking cigs on the porch…"
Alex couldn't help but chuckle as she took a puff of her cigarette. "Yeah, well we can fight train tomorrow or whenever the girls get back, in the mean time it's not like us fighting would be a good idea. God knows we would probably blow shit up and alert everyone in Valhalla that we're back"
"Dude at this point I don't even wanna do anything. I just wanna get Bo and go home" Tamsin said as she sipped on her beer.
"SO question…" Alex said as she opened another beer.
"Shoot hot shot" Tamsin said as she streched her arms.
"If the kid is a Valkyrie, are you ever going to bring them here to train?" Alex asked as she took a gulp of her drink.
"I don't know, I never really thought about it. I mean sure growing up here when we did sucked some, but it also taught us to survive. To fight. But I don't want my kid to be thrown into anything. If they wanna be a Valkyrie, they can be a Valkyrie. But if the baby is a mix of Bo and I, I want them to be able to choose who they are in this world. I think that's what happened with both Bo and I… We had everyone else telling us who to be, what to be… It changed us somewhere into people we weren't happy with. I don't want to do that to my kid. I want them to feel okay with being whatever they are" Tamsin said as she looked up at the night sky and all the stars that beamed.
"What do you think mom and dad would say about you having a kid? About Bo?" Alex asked as she glanced over to her sister.
"Who knows… I mean I'd like to think they'd be proud of me, of both you and I but from what Acacia said, it's not like we knew who are parents really were. I mean clearly our dad was all into total domination and power but from what Acacia said, our mom seemed pretty… I don't know.. Honorable… She seemed to just fall for the bad guy but in the end she still did what was right. It sucks ya know? Not knowing them…" Tamsin said as she glanced towards Alex.
"Yeah… It does…" Alex sighed.
"It just sucks because I want to know more, I want to remember more about them. Even if dad was a dick, I want to know about him, about mom. But no one will tell us anything about them. Hell I feel like the story we got from Acacia was a blast from the past that sucked for her to talk about, I'm scared to ask her more" Tamsin said as she chuckled.
"Dude she would so kill us" Alex said as she laughed.
"Maybe I can help you two" Freya said as she walked from the darkness into the dull light on the front porch.
"Aren't you suppose to be out like ruling the fallen warriors and getting a foot massage?" Tamsin said with a smirk as Freya smiled and rolled her eyes. As the goddess approached she ruffled Tamsin's hair and leaned down placing a kiss on her forehead.
"Yes, but I put that on hold to make sure you two hadn't drank your way to oblivion yet" Freya said as she sat down in-between the two sisters.
"Not yet" Alex said with a grin.
"I know this is hard on you two, and I'm sorry about how I treated you two at the bar, but you were getting out of control, I had never seen either of you like that…" Freya said as she looked between the two.
"Yeah… I don't know what happened" Tamsin said as she look down at the bottle in her hands.
"Me either… Sorry about the minor melt down Freya. You know we love you" Alex said as she leaned her head on the goddess.
"You two mean a great deal to me. Granted you drive me crazy, but you still both mean so much to me. I just want what is best for you and to have you both protected" Freya said as she put her arm around both girls and pulled them in.
"We know, we love you too" Tamsin said as she smiled and rested her head on Freya's shoulder.
The three sat there for a moment before Freya stood up breaking the tender embraces.
"I must return back, but I did bring something for you two to look through while you wait for Kenzi and Bo to return. I think it'll give you some of the answers you are in search of" Freya said as she motioned to a trunk at the bottom of her staircase. "I'll see you girls when your lovers return" and with that the goddess was gone.
"What is this?" Alex asked as she looked to the trunk.
"No clue, let's take this shit inside and find out though" Tamsin said as she grabbed one side of the trunk, motioning for Alex to grab the other as they carried the trunk inside.
"Whatever it is, it's heavy as hell" Alex grunted as they carried the trunk through the door way and dropped it on the ground.
"Remember Kenz… The Dawning puts shit in your head… Just go with it. If you need me I'll be right here, but this is your game, you gotta figure all this out" Bo said as she started to walk forward.
"Yeah talk about putting shit in someone's head. This isn't how home was for me at all…" Kenzi said as she starred at the inside of the home they were in.
"Oh Kenzi dear you made it home in time for dinner!" A woman said as she walked through the door way in a gorgeous gold gown and jewelry.
"Mom?" Kenzi said jaw dropped.
"Why of course darling, who else would I be? Oh I see you've brought a guest! Hello, I'm Tasha" the woman said as she leaned forward kissing Bo's cheek.
"Hi… I'm Bo…" Bo said in a leery tone as she glanced over to Kenzi, who just shrugged.
"You're the Bo our daughter has spoken so much of! Oh well it's a pleasure to meet you! I've heard such lovely things! Welcome! Please take your jacket off!" The woman said as she helped Bo out of the jacket. The Succubus and Ember were both beyond confused at why the usually verbally abusive mother of Kenzi was now a sweet and charming lady welcoming them both with open arms into a home that was spotless and shiny.
"Honey, is that McKenzi?" A man said as he entered the room.
"DAD?!" Kenzi yelled as she raced towards the man and threw her arms around him.
"Sweetie is everything okay? You just saw me a few hours ago" The man said with a light laugh as he picked Kenzi up and swung her around in a circle.
"A few hours ago?! Dad no! You died but you.. Your here? I just… I missed you" Kenzi said as she cried and clung to the man for dear life.
"Died? Kenzi have you been drinking?" The man said with a laugh as he kissed the top of her head.
"Why don't you two come join us for dinner, the new maid has prepared a divine feast for our big night" Kenzi's mother said sweetly.
"Big night?" Bo asked as she looked to Kenzi.
"Didn't Kenzi tell you?" Kenzi's father asked as he looked down at his daughter.
"Tell her what?" Kenzi asked as she raised an eyebrow.
"Oh honey stop playing, you didn't tell Bo about your engagement? She is your maid of honor!" Kenzi's mother said as she laughed.
"WHAT?!" Kenzi and Bo both said at the same time.
"Yes dear! Your fiancé is here and waiting! Silly girl we planned tonight as a celebration!" Kenzi's father said as he beamed with pride.
"And who in the name of all that is holy am I marrying?!" Kenzi yelled as she put her hands on her hips.
"Forgot me already did you?" Alex said as she entered the room in a black dress with her hair down in an elegant fashion.
"Alex?!" Bo said as her jaw dropped.
"There she is! Our future daughter-in-law!" Kenzi's mom said as she raced forward hugging Alex tightly.
"I… But you… We… Mom… Gay… Ohhhh" Kenzi said as she pointed around the room, feeling as though she was about to pass out.
"Kenz…" Bo said as she rushed to Kenzi's side.
"Bo Bo please tell me this is the Dawning and that this totally awesomeness of a perfect night is a dream and that somewhere a monster is going to bust out because I can so not handle life right now" Kenzi said as she looked at Bo.
"This is definitely the Dawning but what the hell is going on. I mean in mine I had something similar with Dyson and I married but it was all the Dawning trying to pull me in so I could devolve. I guess this is just something similar…" Bo said as she looked to her bestie.
"So what the hell do we do? Stab someone? Make a pipe bomb?" Kenzi asked frantically.
"I don't know! I'm not a Dawning expert! I had to kill Dyson to get out of mine!" Bo said in a panic. "I guess we go with it and see if we can figure out a clue or something! I don't know!"
"Ughhhh why couldn't it just be monsters, I was so ready for monster ass kicking but this shit?!" Kenzi growled as she turned and looked to Alex and her family. "But… I mean maybe it's not so bad…" Kenzi said in a low voice as Alex gave a sexy smirk and bit her lip.
"Focus Kenz! We are looking for clues to what the hell the Dawning wants us to do! Not to have a hot sex show in the sheets!" Bo said as she pinched Kenzi's arm.
"OW! I know! I'm totally focused! I just.. I mean if I'm gonna be stuck playing along with this at least my lady is looking sexified right now!" Kenzi said as looked Alex up and down.
"Focus! The Dawning is going to try to suck in you so you fail!" Bo whispered back.
"I mean I am! But hey, that's also why I have you here right? To make sure I don't get sucked in and come out a freaky under-fae with like a wang and fangs" Kenzi said as she elbowed Bo in the side.
"That might be harder than I thought?" Bo said as her eyes were now glued to the entry way to the dining room.
"WHAT?! Why you are supposed to- Woah…" Kenzi said as she felt Bo turn her body around so she was looking at what had caught the Succubus's attention.
"Sir, madam… Your dinner is ready. I've set the table for 5" the maid said as she entered the room and smiled sweetly, dressed in a sexy black and white cliche 'french maid' outfit with her hair down with curls flowing.
"TAMSIN?!" Bo and Kenzi yelled simultaneously.
