Chapter 14
Sometime through the night, Harry awoke with a start feeling nauseous. Trying to let it pass he felt really bad and threw up at the side of his bed a couple of times.
About to call for help he felt the bile rise up in his throat and was sick again. To get Poppy's attention he knocked over his glass that was sitting on the cabinet and it smashed to pieces on the floor. This brought Poppy out dressed in her night gown and pyjamas she said "Oh my…its time you went to hospital. I better fetch Dumbledore" before going back into her office.
I have sent an owl to Dumbledore's quarters to come immediately and we will decide on the best course of action to take she said as he was sick again.
"Oh dear you poor thing. It's better out than in I am afraid. Let's get you dressed"
With difficulty they managed to put on jeans and a t-shirt through him being sick a lot while waiting for Dumbledore to arrive.
For what seemed like ages to Harry Dumbledore finally arrived as the sound of hurrying feet they looked up to see his worried frown.
'What's the problem?" he asked.
"I am afraid Harry needs to go to hospital for examination"
"Why"
"Well as you can see, he has been awful sick and is it alright if I tell him" she asked Harry.
Nodding, Harry felt nervous about him knowing.
"We found a lump that needs to be removed because it has been sore and making Harry unwell"
"Why wasn't I informed straight away?" Dumbledore asked looking pointedly at Harry.
"Patient confidentiality I am afraid. Harry didn't want the others to know"
"I see. It is not really safe to leave the castle grounds but I am willing to take Harry to hospital myself just now by apparating. Don't tell anyone where we are going, just let them know we are not in the castle" said Dumbledore coming beside Harry placing a hand on Harry's shoulder and Harry felt an uncomfortable feeling of apparating and they both disappeared with a pop from the hospital wing straight to the hospitals waiting room.
When they arrived there was two other old people waiting to be seen. "Take a seat Harry, I will be back in a moment and best not wander"
"I don't feel up to it sir" replied Harry sitting down on a hard uncomfortable seat.
It seemed like ages Dumbledore was gone but he came back with a man in his late forty's with short brown hair and brown friendly eyes. "Hello I am Doctor David Armstrong, I understand you have a lump that is making you sick?"
Nodding, Harry looked from one to the other unsure what to do.
"Well in that case we better find you a private room where you can rest for a couple of hours and then we can book you into surgery for an operation to remove the lump once you have been thoroughly examined of course and we will give you something for the sickness. Please follow me?"
Following the Doctor and Dumbledore he led them to a room at the end of the corridor. It contained a single hospital bed and a bedside cabinet with a cupboard to put things in. Harry didn't have anything with him so he just stood there waiting looking out of the window he saw where more windows facing each other.
"It's pretty late so I will let you get settled and I will be back with tablets to get rid of the sickness and pain if you are in any" he said before vacating the room.
Once the door closed, Harry went over to the bed and sat down on the tightly folded bedsheets and looked at Dumbledore.
"Lie down, Harry. I will stay with you while you rest" he said sitting down in the arm chair sitting in the corner of the room.
"Sorry about this sir"
"Not to worry these things happen. Though with you it's a very serious matter with Voldemort trying to kill you every chance he gets. It is best the less people know you are here the better"
"Yes sir"
Unable to sleep, Harry was glad he had not been sick again though he still felt really bad which was why he tossed and turned until the nice Doctor arrived with some tablets in a cup. "Hello again I have brought you some medicine that will settle you down and hopefully will take away the sickness until we examine you in the morning and then take you into surgery" he said handing Harry the small cup.
"There take these and you will feel better and drink this water to wash them down" he said handing Harry a glass of water.
Once Harry drank the water to wash them down he lay back down on the bed and sighed thoughtfully waiting for the tablets to work.
"What time will you examine Harry?" Dumbledore asked the Doctor.
"I would say seven o'clock on the dot. That is the best we can manage on such short notice"
"Aright" replied Dumbledore.
"Well I will leave you to get some rest" said the Doctor before leaving again.
Lying back down, Harry was unable to settle so he tossed and turned for a long time and within half an hour he felt the tablets working which was a relief to him. Glancing at the clock on the wall it was four thirty two in the morning and Dumbledore was asleep in the chair. Sighing, Harry turned on his side to try and get some sleep.
Meanwhile the next morning after a hearty breakfast, Sirius, Ron, Hermione and Ginny made their way to the hospital wing to see Harry.
When they got there all of the beds where empty, "where's Harry?" Sirius asked concerned.
"He's not here" replied Poppy who was cleaning the bed awaiting on Harry's return.
"Where has he gone?" asked Ron.
"Don't worry he is with Dumbledore at the hospital. They left last night as Harry was very sick during the night so we had no choice but to take him to hospital"
"What, why wasn't I told last night?" asked Sirius angry at not being told.
"The less people who knew where he was the better" Dumbledore said.
"I am going there now" replied Sirius heading out of the hospital wing and out to the front of the castle where he could apparate along with the others. "Hold on to me" he told them. They then disappeared with a pop.
Once the uncomfortable feeling of apparition vanished Ron, Hermione and Ginny found themselves in the hospitals waiting room where it was busy with sick people.
"I wonder what to do?" Sirius asked no one in particular. He was about to go to the reception desk when he spotted Dumbledore walking down the corridor.
"Dumbledore!" he called hurrying over. The others following.
Turning around Dumbledore was surprised to see them hurrying towards him "What are you doing here?"
"I heard about Harry, where is he?"
"He is in surgery"
"What" gasped Sirius "What for?"
"I will let him explain it to you when he is awake" replied Dumbledore. "I only found out as Poppy had to ask my permission to take him here"
"Why didn't he tell me?"
"He said he didn't want you to worry about him"
"That's my job I am supposed to worry"
"Well we will let Harry explain when he wakes up. It shouldn't be long. Follow me and I will take you to his room" replied Dumbledore turned around heading back down the corridor.
Once in the room they waited patiently and an hour later the door opened and they pushed a hospital bed in with Harry lying on it asleep.
"Oh hello. He's not awake yet" said the nurse skinny with blonde hair escaping her hat. "I would give him half an hour and he should be fully awake"
"Thank you" replied Dumbledore standing at the bottom of the bed when they wheeled it into place.
"The operation was a success. They managed to remove it and the stitches will dissolve in a few days. We will leave you to it"
Nodding in approval Dumbledore called "Harry?"
Groggily, Harry opened his eyes to see a blurry vision of Dumbledore and then fell asleep again.
"He is too out of it" said Dumbledore.
"We can wait" said Sirius.
"Why did he need an operation?" Ron asked concerned to see his best friend in a state.
"I may as well tell you. He found a lump and it was making him ill so it had to be removed" replied Dumbledore.
"Bloody hell…why didn't he tell us?"
"I guess he didn't want us to worry I suppose. He will be like this for a couple of hours or so, I suggest we get some supplies in for him when he wakes up replied Dumbledore heading out of the room.
A couple of hours passed and they were loaded with food and books for Harry from diagone ally and back at the hospital. Heading to Harry's room they opened the door expecting to see him wide awake when Sirius noticed the bed was empty with no sign of Harry anywhere.
