Chapter Four:
I sat back and reviewed what just happened. The night before, I snuck out, was almost raped by a guy who was scared off by the mark on my eye which is actually a demon's mark, and now I found out that the guy that saved me was the demon I was contracted to by my grandfather.
Oh, and I'm the dead princess that everyone will be mourning soon.
Holding my head, I stared at the ground. "This is WAY too much information to think about. I'm the princess? And my grandfather contracted me to you?"
"Yes. I understand it's a lot to take in, however, you are old enough to know your fate." Sebastian said.
"My fate?"
"Yes. Being contracted to a demon means that you are my next meal," he grinned, and I looked up, gasping as I saw his eyes flash pink and slit like a cat's.
"Meal? You mean that I will be eaten?" I asked.
"Indeed. And although ii have already fulfilled your grandfather's wish, I will grant you your own desire. Anything you want most, I will give."
I thought it over. "What do you mean 'what I want most'?"
"Just that. Henry fell in love with the princess, your grandmother. He summoned me to help him. I won't go into detail, but when he and Princess Maria wed, they had your father, the king. That's when I told him that I had helped him achieve his goal, and it was time to repay his debt..."
Flashback...
"Henry Phantomhive, it is time for you to repay your debt to me." The demon spoke to the new king of the land.
"Please Sebastian, not right now," Henry pleaded. "I've got so much to live for now. I married the love of my live, and now I have a son. Please don't take me from them now!"
"Phantomhive, you are going against our contract. You have wed your bride, and now you have a heir. By the rules of the contract, I am allowed to take your soul right here and now."
"Please, I'll do anything!"
Sebastian appeared to be thinking. "There is only one way you will be able to live. In exchange for your soul, you will promise me the soul of one of your future children."
"No!" Henry protested. "Not my son!"
"Very well then, perhaps one of your future grandchildren?"
Henry thought about this deal. He would never meet his grandchildren, so there would be no heartbreak for him if the child was to suddenly die. "I accept. The firstborn of my son's children will be yours."
Sebastian grinned as his eyes flashed pink. "Henry Phantomhive, I hereby cut this contract, in exchange for your son's firstborn child. Do you accept this?"
Henry kept his eyes downcast. "Yes."
"Then I shall leave your presence from now on." Sebastian said. He turned briskly and left the castle.
'Foolish humans' he thought as he walked out.
"So my grandfather sacrificed me, just so he could live?" I asked quietly. Sebastian nodded.
"He was a foolish coward who could never face his own fate. That's why before Vincent could marry Rachael, he killed himself so he would never become attached to you." he explained. "So what is your greatest desire?"
"I don't know," I admitted sadly.
"I will give you a few hours to think it over. As I've said before, I am not a patient man." Sebastian quickly left before I could say more. I sat on the edge of my bed, motionless, and staring at the book of mystical creatures. Before I knew it, I was sobbing into my hands.
I couldn't shake the overwhelming sense of dread and hopelessness. In less than twenty-four hours, my life had completely turned upside down. I was the dead princess, my soul was to be consumed by a demon, and my parents gave me to my nurse instead of taking care of m.
Talk about the best birthday ever...
After crying for a while, I took my pillow and sat on the window seat, staring up at the fluffy white clouds. My eyes darted towards the castle in the distance. My heart fell as i remembered that my parents didn't want me. It wasn't even my fault, and I have to suffer for it. It's not fair!
Tears began to stream down my face, and i let my sorrows go. Burying my head into the soft feathery pillow, i sobbed silently.
I must've fallen asleep, because it was getting dark when i came up from the pillow. I heard footsteps in the kitchen and a heavenly smell filled my nose. It must be mom making my birthday cake. Oh wait-she's not my mom. She's my nurse. I considered going in there and confronting her, but then i remembered that she was the one who took care of me. I don't know if she was forced to, or if she willingly put up with me. Either way, i owe her big time for sticking with me, regardless of my parent's disowning me. Was I even considered a princess anymore? Did they even think about me or my well-being? Did they replace me with another child?
Tears pricked at my eyes, but I wiped them away furiously. There was no use crying. I had to think of something I wanted, my greatest desire that will make dying not such a bad thing.
After all, it wasn't my choice, and Sebastian did give me a choice. But what did i want?
"Ciel?" Mey-Rin called.
"Yes mom?" i answered. I think it's best that she doesn't know that i know the truth. If she wants to tell me, then she will, and that's when I'll tell her about Sebastian.
Maybe then, she'll have an idea of what i could desire.
Yes, Hello dear readers! I have chosen to continue to update this fanfic, officially putting off hiatus! *does happy Snoopy dance*
I am excited to continue, however, I have lost the track on which I was heading on. So for now, the chapters will most likely be short like this one. But no worries! As soon as I figure out a stable path, I willl lengthen the chapters, okay? Besides, summer has just begun! I have almost several months before I start high school!
Anyway, I hope you guys can forgive me for putting the story on hold! I love you guys! X3
