Chapter 9

Since she was staring out the window of the small bed and breakfast, drinking her daily cup of coffee, she didn't notice when he came out of their bedroom. He startled her when he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"You scared me," she whispered as she shrugged away from his embraced. She walked to the kitchen nook and leaned against the counter waiting for him to say something.

"Will you marry me?"

Tara choked on her morning coffee. Looking up, she stared deeply into his eyes, a small smile forming on his face.

He had just woken up and he had bed hair. His eyes still had the sleepy look to them as he eagerly waited for her response.

Tara placed the mug down on the counter. Bracing herself for the fight, Tara squared her shoulders.

"I don't think that's a good idea, Joshua."

The small smile faltered rather quickly. She noticed the dark shadows creeping behind those dark eyes of his.

"Tar-Tar," he walked towards her, his body covered only by the briefs he put on shortly before walking into the kitchen. "You and I are soul mates…"

Tara flinched. He took the mug out of her hands and placed it on top of the counter.

"Baby," he gently grabbed her hands, "you and I belong together. That's why I had our wedding invitations made for this upcoming fall. Think about it, we could get married in a small park in the city. Imagine the beautiful fall leaves and all those fall colors." He brought her hands to his lips. "You in a beautiful white dress…or maybe eggshell white…" He started rambling and Tara zoned out, choosing to focus on his dark eyes instead of what he was saying. Something about his eyes, frighten her. They were pitless and dark...unfocused on reality.

He placed a hard kiss on her mouth, startling her from her inner musings.

She placed her hand on his chest, pulling him away from her, but that just made him grabbed her even harder, leaving bruises on her pale hips. He tried to shove his tongue down her throat but Tara kept her mouth clamp shut.

He pulled away from her.

"You are mine..."he whispered as he placed lingering kisses down her collarbone, biting her in certain parts of her neck.

Tara tried to squirm away from his grasp but he held tightly. Understanding that he was beyond any reasoning, Tara tried to placate him...

"Josh," she tried to make eye contact with him, "I am still sore from last night..." She plead with her eyes and he backed away from her, only slightly but enough for Tara to move away from him. She tried to put as much distance as she could between them as she grabbed her mug and sat on one of the cushioned sofas of the small living room.

"How about November, right before the holidays?"

He sat across from her.

Tara took a sip of her coffee to muster the courage that she needed. Placing the mug on the coffee table, Tara looked into the eyes of her tormentor. "Joshua, there will be no wedding in November. In fact, there won't be any wedding, ever..." She took a deep breath and clasped her hands together. "This was fun, Joshua, but I think that this relationship has run its course. Lately, you have been clingy and..." Her words were cut off by the sting on her cheek.

Everything started going in overdrive as her brain started processing what had just happened.

Joshua stood over her, his hand raise as he delivered another blow...and another one... And another one.

...

"Will you marry me?," she murmured against his chest as they laid in the dark, their nude bodies covered by the cheap sheets of the motel in Tahoe.

Jax glanced down in surprise as Wendy looked up at him with big, expectant eyes, a hint of fear shadowing her brown orbs.

"Wendy...," he sat up, forcing her to retreat away from his body. Running his hands thru his hair, Jax closed his eyes momentarily. He had Wendy had been together for a little over a year. Even though in his eyes, they weren't exactly exclusive, Wendy was his constant companion when he needed a female body to release certain stresses that constantly plagued his life. He still had crow-eaters that slept with him but he was tired of the endless faces.

She also sat up, using the sheets to cover her bare breasts, "Look Jax, I know what you are going to say but I love you. I love you so much. And I know I am an ex-junkie but you make me feel safe. When I am with you, I feel like everything is right, like I don't have to use..." She grabbed his face with her hands, forcing him to look into her eyes. "I love you, Jax, and all I want to do is take care of you. I want to be a good Old Lady for you."

Jax looked into her eyes and felt her sincerity. Simultaneously, he felt an overwhelming feeling of loneliness spread thru his body.

Nodding his head, Jax looked away from Wendy.

"Let's get married," he said to the ex-junkie as his heart started sinking in his chest.

...

It seemed like there were a million stars in the sky shining down on them. The moon was the only source of light not that they were really paying attention to the heavens.

She was laying on top of him, her naked body still infused with his. Tara shivered slightly as Jax ran his hands down her bare back.

"I love you, you know."

He felt the vibration of her giggle on his chest. Looking up at him, Tara gave him one of her rare smiles. "Not more than I love you." She kissed his nose as she moved away from his body to the spot next to him in the blanket. He automatically wrapped his arm around her and pulled her closer to his body.

For minutes, they both laid naked in their mellow as a gentle summer breeze blew warm air from the desert. They both quietly marveled at the beautiful of the heavens both content with each other's company.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?," she whispered.

He placed a small kiss on top of her head. "Not more beautiful than you...I love you Tara."

She turned to look at him. "I love you too, so much baby. Never forget how much I love you Jackson. I love the man that you are and the man who you are becoming. I love you."

Jax felt his heart swell. Sitting up he pulled Tara to his lap until she was straddling him. Kissing her passionately, Jax pressed her body to his as much as he could.

After a few minutes of kissing, he pulled away from her.

"Tara, marry me please..."

Her eyes started watering as she gently kissed his lips.

"We are only seventeen, silly."

He lay kisses along her jaw... "Not for long... We could down to Nevada or Tahoe...just you and I, babe. "

His lips met hers over and over again until he felt like he had to make her his again. Shifty them around until he laid on top of her, Jax broke away from her lips. He felt her juices on the tip of his dick but had couldn't go in until he heard her say those words.

He looked deeply into her eyes as he waited for an answer.

"Yes, Jax... I'll marry you."

Jax kissed her gently as he entered thru heavens gates.
