Chapter 39
Following the headmaster out of the great hall and to his office was silent. Neither spoke until, Dumbledore was seated behind his desk, "Where were you?" he, curiously asked him.
"I was staying with friends out of town" lied, Harry clenching and unclenching his hands nervously as he sat down opposite Dumbledore who looked at him through his half moon glasses frowning.
"Miss Granger also said you were staying with friends, but didn't know when you were due back"
"I lost track of the days that flew by from having too much fun", Harry replied hands gripping both sides of the chair hoping that his abilities wouldn't show up with him being so nervous. 'He can never know the truth' Harry thought when his head became sore with all the worrying. "Oh my head", he gasped putting a hand to it and he could feel sweat forming on it.
He couldn't tell if it was his scar burning or just a headache as it was on the same side of his scar. "I have to go" he rasped with his mouth gone suddenly dry.
Standing up, he rushed from the office and down the spiral stairs with Dumbledore unable to stop him, left him gazing after him confused.
Finally, Harry was in the corridor and leaned his forehead onto the stonewall letting the cool wall touch his sweating head. Gasping for breath, he needed to let off some steam, so turned and ran blindly through the corridors unsure where his feet were taking him.
Stopping suddenly, he realized he was facing another stonewall and saw he was out side the room of requirement and sighed in relief.
No one had been out and about as it was still lunchtime and he entered the room with many fireplaces and a big spacious room with only a test dummy and a mirror in sight.
So, he stood in the middle of the room and pushed his arms out to the side and screamed in frustration at the same time. As he did so he could feel the heat leaving his hands and they blew up the doorway, scattering the pieces of wood everywhere including some stone from each side of the door.
As the wood and rock mingled falling in pieces to the floor and smoke clearing, he saw a huge hole where the door used to be and gasped at the damage his powers had caused. 'How am I going to explain this to Dumbledore' he thought as he rushed over to the hole in the wall, climbing over the rubble, Harry looked about the corridor and darted away before people would come looking to see what had caused the big bang.
Running back to the common room, Harry's legs felt like jelly and collapsed in shock before he could reach the couch and sat on his weak shaking legs sobbing, hoping no one had witnessed his powers.
Taking several deep breaths, Harry could feel himself calming down a little as he shakily stood up, swaying slightly, he made his way up the stairs to the boys dorm and lay down on his bed breathlessly.
He must have fallen asleep, as he felt someone shaking his shoulder gently waking him up. "Are you alright?" came Hermione's concerned voice.
Opening his eyes, he saw Hermione leaning over him and he said "he was fine, I must have fell asleep"
"Someone blew a hole in the wall to the room of requirement" She said softly, "was it you?" she asked concerned for her friend.
"No I have been asleep", Harry lied sitting up bleary eyed.
Sighing, he stood up and relieved his legs were back to normal. Following her out of the dorm, he saw the place packed with students and spotted his parents sitting with the others at the couch. Ron was playing chess with Malfoy who was loosing. He waved them over and saw his parents turning to look at them as they came down the stairs.
He had a bad feeling that his parents knew exactly whom he was and where holding back from which he was grateful, as he couldn't be bothered explaining anything to them at that precise moment.
He was also worried that his abilities would show up in front of everyone and tried to clear his head of any thoughts and was pondering about his parents.
Sitting down close to Ron and Malfoy, Harry kept a distance from his parents and settled down for the evening hoping the night would be all right when he felt his senses tingle.
