The dance was in full swing, everyone enjoying themselves as Glenn sat at the side, watching as the four girls he had danced with dance with each other. Hell even Jaune had plucked up some courage and asked Ruby to dance, the red and black haired girl blushing as she and Jaune danced.
And who know Jaune could dance!
Shaking his head, Glenn relaxed into his seat, his eyes wondering the dance floor, only just catching the sight of something brown and pink.
She wouldn't be here, there's no way.
A pair of Heterochromia eyes locked with his own, the blonde repressing an annoyed sigh as she slowly pulled himself out of his chair. Slipping through the dancers, Glenn failed the stop Ruby glancing towards the entrance her eyes catching a figure leaping form roof top to roof top.
As she left to see what was going on, Glenn arrived at the balcony of the dance hall, his eyes staring at the girl that had almost killed him not to long ago. Instead of her normal outfit, the girl was dressed in a simple white frilly dress, did she steal it from Weiss?
In her hands was her parasail, resting loosely in her grip as she smiled at the blonde demon. "Do I even want to know why you are here?" he asked, preparing to summon his Katana as the girl cocked her head to the side.
Lifting her free hand, Glenn prepared to dodge, only to see her holding a scroll with a message on the screen. "Are you going to just stand there while a young woman is willing to dance with you?" it read as Glenn blinked in confusion.
"You're fucking with me" he mumbled as the girl flicked the screen to the next message. "Maybe later" it read as she gave him a seductive smirk to add to the effect. "And why shouldn't I just attack, you did try and kill me and my friends last time we met" Glenn questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Even criminals need some time off, so what are you going to do?" the scroll read as Glenn rubbed his forehead. "At this point I don't give a shit" he said, presenting his hand to the pink and brown haired girl.
Neo smiled excepting his hand as she gently pulled her forward, the music form the ball room just reaching them as the two danced under the moon light. "What has you so interested in me?" Glenn asked, twirling the girl away, Neo spinning gracefully in her high heels as she smiled at the blonde.
"Your different" her scroll replied as Glenn cocked his head to the side, flicking his wrist as Neo spun back into his arms, the two of them twisting as Glenn lead her towards the middle of the balcony. "How so?" he questioned the girl in his arms.
"You're not like everyone else, so care free, so unburdened, your eyes show me everything, the heart ache, the pain, the sorrow, those girls you sang to wont understand, but I do" Neo replied through her scroll.
"You don't know the first thing about me?" Glenn replied as Neo smiled up at him. "I know more than you think, your spirit told me everything I could even need to know" she said as Glenn's eyes widened.
"Why did Thanatos give you one of my jewels" he asked bluntly, twirling the girl in his arms, lifting her off her feet as Neo twisted through the air, landing in a bow as she smiled at him. "Lets not talk about that, lets enjoy ourselves" she said, stepping back into his grasp as Glenn narrowed his eyes at her.
At the communication tower within Beacon, Ruby walked out of the elevator, glancing at the two knocked out soldiers as she unfolded crescent rose. "Hello, anyone in here?" she asked, looking for anything out of the ordinary.
Behind one of the desks, the masked Cinder crouched, looking for her chance to surprise the rose girl, his cloths glowing with embers as she prepared to attack. As Ruby stepped closer to the table, Cinder moved, leaping into the air as a bow of crystal formed in her grip, her free hand pulling the string as an arrow formed.
Ruby stared up in surprise, only just sweeping crescent rose upwards to block the arrow that exploded against her scythe blade. Another arrow followed as the masked girl landed, her bow separating into two blades as she lunged towards the stunned rose girl.
Regaining her wits, Ruby levelled her scythe towards the charging girl, a sniper round firing off as Cinder crossed her blades to block the attack. As the two met, Ruby swept her scythe down, attempting to cut at the masked girl's legs, only to miss as Cinder leaped over her.
Dismissing her blades, Cinder retrieved a single silver dust crystal, dropping it behind the red head as she landed on the far side of the room. Ruby only had time to turn towards Cinder, her eyes widening as the dust crystal exploded, blinding the young girl as Cinder made her escape out the window.
As Ruby tried to figure out what happened, Cinder landed on one of the lower buildings around the tower, smirking as he glanced at the packet of data she had retrieved from the communication tower.
Her smile faded as he moved to grab her dress, hoping to catch the end of the dance, and maybe the attention of that blonde. But as she moved, she was stopped as she felt a familiar pulse from the dragon jewel in her pocket.
"Hello again girl" the hollow voice spoke as Cinder slowly turned to face the horrific horned mask of her benefactor. "Thanatos" she spoke simply, staring warily at the demon before her. "I see you've had an interesting night" the demon replied, walking forward as Cinder tensed slightly.
She did not like working for this thing...but she had to in order to further her plans.
"I have, but what does that have to do you with coming to visit?" Cinder questioned lowly. "I'm always around human...and I just happened to see my king with another girl, he certainly knows how to pick them" Thanatos said with a vicious smirk.
"You still haven't told me who this king of yours is" Cinder said, her flaming eyes narrowing asd Thanatos chuckled. "Oh, you know him, I'm sure he already has your attention...but I shall be off, remember the plan" Thanatos finished, vanishing in a burst of static, leaving behind sparks of golden lightning.
Cinder could only stare at the sparks, her mind racing with theories as she had remembered Neo, the girl Roman brought in using them...and that blonde form the arena using them as well. A smile slowly crossed her face as she grabbed her slime black dress, plans forming in her mind...all involving that blonde.
Glen arrived back at the main dance floor, Neo having left for her own reason, but not before handing him her number...strange girl that one is. Shaking his head, Glenn slipped through the dancers, hoping to find Yang or Blake for a final dance.
But instead he found himself being excepted into someone's arms, his eyes blinking in confusion as he looked down to see a black haired young women with flame like eyes smirking up at him. "I didn't even ask for a dance, how forward of you" the young women said with a smirk, her eyes dancing in amusement as Glenn blushed lightly.
"Since we're already here, how about we continue" Glen offered as Cinder smiled. "I would like that, but what is the name of my partner for tonight?" she asked, smiling as the blonde thought over what her words could have implied...and forcing more blood to his cheeks as a response.
"Call me Glenn, and who might you be?" Glenn asked in returned, both of them moving around the dance floor as Cinder wrapped her arms around his neck. "I might tell you, but that depends on how well you dance" Cinder replied teasingly as the two drew closer.
Off to the side, Mercury raised an eyebrow as he watched Cinder dancing with the blonde cross dresser. "What you staring at?" Emerald asked as she glanced at the silver haired boy. "I think Cinder has a fetish for cross dressers" he replied as he gestured to the two on the dance floor.
"Huh, she's going to kill you if she hears you said that" Emerald pointed out as Mercury shrugged. "Meh, it's true though" he replied with a smirk.
On the dance floor, Glenn scowled lightly, feeling like someone was insulting him...and his fashion sense.
Sword clashed against Katana, the white blade twisting to redirect the gold and red sword. Pyrrha followed through with the fall, turning on her right foot as she tried to kick the feet out from under her opponent.
Only for the Katana to pull back, the flat side of the blade catching her armoured shin as she was flipped onto her back. Before the red head could leap to her feet, the cold steal of the white blade rested on her neck, preventing her from moving as a pair of tainted blue eyes stared down at her.
"How many is that?" Glenn asked, retracted his blade as he presented his hand to Pyrrha. "Eight" she mumbled, excepting his hand as she was pulled to her feet. "And what have you learnt?" he asked, stabbing his blade into the ground as he watched her sheath her weapons.
"That your to fast for you own good" Pyrrha said with a smile as Glenn shook his head. "No, you rely too much on your tricks, I know that's how you fight but against me, tricks present openings, her semblance is useless, so what do you need to do?" he questioned as Pyrrha sighed.
"I don't know what you want me to do Glenn, this is my fighting style, its worked for me so far" Pyrrha argued as Glen sighed softly. "I know that, and its a good style, but not everyone can be beat by it, so what you need to do is stop thinking" he explained as Pyrrha stared at him oddly.
"Stop...thinking?" she asked as Glenn smiled. "Yes no thoughts, no plans, no foresight of the outcome of the fight, live in the moment, follow your instinct, that's what I'm trying to teach you, you think so far ahead that if one thing changes it throws you off, so just stop thinking and fight like your meant to" Glenn instructed as he ripped his blade out of the roof.
"But..." Pyrrha was cut off as she leaped backwards, the tip of Glenn's Katana almost cleaving her throat open as she stared at him in surprise. "No talking fight" he said his eyes glowing in a sadistic glint as Pyrrha unsheathed her own weapons, preparing herself.
But it wasn't enough.
"How can you... fight like that" Pyrrha panted, her face red and she panted, her body limp as Glenn carried her back towards the dorms. "You would be surprised, I fight without thinking about it, I think it has something to do with being part demon, but I never thought about it" Glenn replied with a shrug.
"You're not tired...your...a monster" Pyrrha panted out as Glenn chuckled. "I could do this all day, I have stamina in spades" Glenn boasted with a laugh. Unknown to him, Pyrrha was blushing up a storm at his words, her mind racing at what he could use all of that stamina for.
Glenn raised an eyebrow as he heard Pyrrha giggling to herself; did she go crazy form being exhausted? Ah, he'll figure it out later. "Hay Jaune, here's your team mate!" Glenn called out as he approached the rooms.
Jaune poked his head out the door, blinking in confusion as he saw Glenn carrying Pyrrha over his shoulder. The Spartan girl strangely giggling to herself for some reason. "Okay...what did you do?" he asked as Glenn shrugged.
"Oh Glenn" Pyrrha giggled softly as she was handed to Jaune. "I find you live longer if you don't question shit like this" Glenn advised as he turned to enter his own room. Leaving Jaune and a giggling Pyrrha behind.
"So what did Ozpin want?" Yang's voice was the first thing Glenn heard as he stepped into the room. "He wanted to know about what happened during the dance, along with that Ironwood guy" Ruby replied as Glenn closed the door.
"General Ironwood, I saw him at the dance, what did he want?" Weiss asked with interest. "He asked if I knew how the person that attack was, but I couldn't see her face because of the mask" Ruby explained as Glenn stopped in mid thought.
"Someone attacked during the dance, what happened?" he asked as the four girls glanced at him. "Someone tried to steal some data from the communication tower, I don't know if I stopped them though" Ruby explained.
"is was a risky move though" Weiss pointed out. "I think you handled it as well as you could Ruby, but now we just need to plan ahead" Blake interjected as Weiss shot her a glare. "Its fine sis, everything worked out okay" Yang said as he rested a hand on Ruby's shoulder.
"I hope it does" Ruby mumbled quietly. "Oh I know what could cheer you up" Yang added as she turned to grab the parcel on the desk. "What's that?" Ruby asked as Yang shrugged. "I don't know yet, dad sent it so we should open it together" the blonde brawler replied as she snapped the lid off the tube.
"Oh something from home!" Ruby squealed happily. What came out was a very big surprise for the five in the room. A small black and white corgi stood, seemingly uncaring that the fact it was shoved into a small tube.
With hundreds of cans of dog food.
"What the fuck" Glenn said as Yang shot him a glare for cursing. "Zewi!" Ruby yelled happily as Blake jumped behind Weiss. "He sent a dog!" Blake said in annoyance. "In the mail" Weiss added in disbelief.
"He does this all the time" Yang explained as Blake moved to hide on Ruby's bed. "Your father or your dog" she asked as Glenn smiled in amusement at the cat girls actions. "Are you telling me this filthy, smelly, stinking mutt, is going to live with us forever" Weiss said, cooing to the dog at the end as Glenn raised an eyebrow.
"Please keep it away form by belongings" lake said as Glenn glanced at her with a smile. "Oh come on he's cute" Glenn said as Blake glared at him. "Gees, is this glare at Glenn day" he mumbled. "How are we going to keep him here, we'll be gone for a week on our first assignments" Weiss questioned.
"Like this" Yang said as she dumped numerous cans of dog food on the ground, and a can opener. "See, now we need to go the main hall before Goodwitch gets annoyed at us" Yang said as she marched out of the room.
"How is a dog going to use a can opener" Glenn questioned as he followed her, Weiss following him as Blake leaped over the table and out the door before the dog could catch her. That only left Ruby to stand in the room, Zewi looking at her with a funny expression as she hummed to herself.
"Quite please" Glynda spoke into the mic as the five members of team ruby joined the rest of the first years in the main hall. "Professor Ozpin would like a few words with you before we begin" she said as the silver haired head master stepped forward.
"We stand together, united, mistral, Atlas, Vacuo, Vale, on this day nearly eighty years ago, the largest war in history came to an end, a war of ignorance and greed, a war much more of where borders fell and who traded with who, but the idea of individualism itself, we fought for countless reasons, one being the destruction of art and self expression, and as you are well aware, it was something many could not stand for" he said, the hall silently listening to the man's words.
"As a result, those opposed to this rule, started to name their children after the core aspect of art itself, colour, it was their way to demonstrate that not only did they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither would the generations to come, it's a trend that has held to this very day, we encourage individuality, expressionism and unity, through diversity" he said, as Glenn glanced at his team, one of the best example of those words.
"As I have said, together we stand together, united, but this bond cannot exist without effort, which is why while the rest of the world celebrates peace, huntsmen and huntresses work to uphold that peace, as first year students you will be tasked with shadowing a huntsmen on a mission, some may be taken out of the kingdom, other to work within the walls, but no matter which path you chose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best" Ozpin finished as he walked off stage.
"This is perfect, we just need a mission out of the kingdom" Ruby said. "Yep, we'll work with the hunter by day and give them the slip at night" Yang agreed. "Come on let's get the mission, a search and destroy should suffice" Weiss said as she moved towards the selection area.
But as Ruby entered the team name, the message that first year student could not chose this mission appeared. "Why would they list it if we couldn't pick it" Glenn questioned. "That might be because I wish to see who needed to go out of the kingdom...for any reason at all" a voice spoke up as the five turned to see an amused Ozpin staring at them.
"I do have a sneaking suspicion that you five would make your way there away way" he added as Ruby rubbed the back of her head. "What makes you say that?" she asked. "Oh I don't know, how about the fact you five know of this area, how you all ended up at the docks last semester, or how citizen reported seeing robots on the highway followed by explosions" Ozpin said as Ruby grimaced lightly.
"I doubt I will find the answer, so I have another idea, instead of waiting for you all to break the rules like Mr Skellington does every other night by leaving the campus" Ozpin said as Glenn looked away at the fact he was caught.
"Why don't we just bend them" he finished as the screen lit up with an excepted message for their team. "We won't let you down" Ruby promised. "Don't thank me, the things that await you outside the kingdom are not to be taken lightly, stay with your huntsmen and follow his instruction, he can have you sent back to beacon if your skills are not satisfying" Ozpin said as he turned to leave.
"Well, I guess we're going on an adventure" Glenn spoke as Ruby smiled at him.
