"You have got to be kidding?" Weiss whispered as she and the rest of her team stood staring at the hunter they would be shadowing for their mission into mountain glenn. "It has to be a dream" Glenn mumble beside her, rubbing his eyes as if to try and make it go away.

"Why hello girls...whose ready to fight for their lives" Oobleck said cheerily as the girls just stared at him...and Glenn stood crouched in the corner with a rain cloud over his head. "I'm not a girl" he mumbled, his finger tracing shapes in the ground in depression.

"What's wrong with her?" Oobleck asked as Yang repressed a snicker. "I'm sure she'll be fine" she said, as Ruby giggled beside her. "He really does need a hair cut" Weiss pointed out as the golden locks of their male team mate was getting quiet long.

It wouldn't be to long until he matched Yang for everything...beside anatomy.

"Professor Oobleck" Weiss said, only to be ignored as Oobleck stared explaining the mission.

"Now, we won't need any of this bags girls, mainly because we will not be setting up a base of operation rather we will be travelling several miles of hazardous wasteland and making camp at any suitable location throughout the mission" he explained in a voice almost too fast to catch.

"I've packed all essentials myself, and readied the airship for our departure, and..." he paused to turned to Weiss. "Its doctor Oobleck, I did earn the DHP for that title" he finished as Glenn cocked his head to the side, idly soaking Blake with his wet hair form the miniature rain cloud he had somehow summoned before in depression.

"Don't they both require DHP's?" he mumbled as the cat girl glared at him. "Now, according to my schedule, we are three minutes behind so let's go!" he said, vanishing in a burst of speed and appearing at the entrance to the bullhead.

"Alright then looks like we're going to save the world with...Dr Oobleck" Ruby said nervously. "Okay, when you say it out loud it sounds worse" she mumbled. "Save the world" a voice spoke up as the five turned to see team JPNR walking up to them.

"You're going on world saving adventures without us, I'm so sad, and a little hungry, but the last one isn't my fault, Ren" Nora said as the pink and black haired male looked away from her. "Sounds like fun, where you going?" Jaune asked.

"Just outside the kingdom" Ruby replied as Nora cheered. "Really, so are we" she said as Pyrrha smiled. "Ren and Nora wanted to shadow a sheriff of a nearby village" she explained. "We set out tomorrow" Ren said further.

"Then you can party with us tonight" another voice spoke up as the nine turned to see Neptune and Sun standing there. "We're shadowing a crime detective, all under cover stuff, we get badges" he explained as Jaune ohh-ed in awe.

"We would go to the city with you guys, but we don't want stuff exploding again" Sun replied as he stared at team RWBY. "That happened one time!" Glenn said as he looked away from the monkey boy.

"Twice, at the same bar on the same night" Sun countered as the blonde glared at him. "What bar?" Yang asked as Glenn stiffened. "Oh you know, just a bar" he replied as the girl narrowed her eyes at him, along with Pyrrha, Blake and Weiss.

"I will get you for this" he mumbled, glaring at Sun. "Not my problem" he replied with a shrug. "That's what you get for not telling anyone you secrets to girls" Neptune added as Glenn sweat dropped at the blue haired teen.

"You're still going on about that" he mumbled. "I will not rest until your secrets have been uncovered!" he yelled as Sun sighed at his best friends words. "Four minutes ladies!" Oobleck yelled out before anyone else could speak.

"I'm not a girl!" Glenn yelled back as Neptune glared at him. "It is the female clothes, I knew it!" he yelled as he ran back towards the dorms. "Where's he going?" Blake asked as Sun shrugged. "If my guess is right, to order a skirt and matching top" he sighed as the others just stared at him oddly.

"Hay, you already have a cross dresser right here, stop looking at me like that" he defended as the other continued to stare at the monkey boy. "Well, wish us luck" Ruby said as the other gave her a smile.

"I didn't take you for much of a fighter" Yang said as the six of them travelled within the bullhead. "I guess I do venture myself more as a intellectual, but I assure you, I've had my fair share of tussles" Oobleck replied as Ruby scratched her head in confusion.

"Like the mushroom?" she asked. "Those are truffles" Blake replied simply. "Like the sprout?" Ruby asked, even more confused. "Those are Brussels" Yang supplied as Glenn shook his head. Ruby can be too cute for her own good some times.

"Beside, given my expertise in the field of history as well as my dabbling in the archaeological surveys, our dear headmaster found it effective to assign me to this assignment" Oobleck explained as Weiss raised an eyebrow at him.

"What does history have to do with this?" she asked. "What a preposterous question you silly girl, why history is the very back bone of our society, and the liver" Oobleck explained as Glenn looked between the two.

"That was a lot of big words" he mumbled to himself. "And probably the kidneys if I were to wager" Oobleck added in thought. "And that means?" Glenn asked as the man started mumbling about the anatomy of history.

How strange?

"The south east area outside of vale is home to large forests and deep caves, but it is also home to the location of one of the kingdoms greatest failures" he said as Ruby perked up. "Mountain Glen" she supplied as the man nodded.

"That's right, it was an expansion of vale, but it became over run by Grimm" Yang said, trailing off as Glenn narrowed his eyes slightly, wondering why a expansion could be over run, wouldn't they have defences set up before hand?

"Correct, and now it stands abandoned as a dark reminder" Oobleck finished. "Or a hideout" Blake muttered as the man shook his head. "Not likely, in recent times a new Grimm was reported to have taken up residence in the Glen, if anyone was hiding out, they would need to be careful just like we will be" Oobleck explained.

"What kind of Grimm?" Glenn asked. "Not any we have ever seen before my girl, the glimpse the cameras got over head show it to look like a Barroth in shape, but it was different, we'll just have to stay clear if it" Oobleck explained as Glenn glared at him.

"I'm not a girl" he snapped as the man titled his head slightly. "You're wearing a skirt" he pointed out as Glenn huffed. "Shut up" he mumbled as Yang gave him a one armed hug, smiling teasing at the annoyed blonde.

Landing on the ground, everyone leaped out into the abandoned city, looking for any sign of grim in the area. "Alright girls, you maybe students but your first mission as a huntress has begun, from this point forward you must do what I say, do you understand" Oobleck questioned, noting noticing he spilt coffee on himself.

"Ruby, I thought I said to leave all bags back at the academy" he added as Ruby laughed nervously. "Yeah, but you didn't say we had to listen to you yet, so I didn't" she replied as Weiss sighed in annoyance.

"She's not wrong" Oobleck mumbled as the white clad girl huffed. "Very well Ruby, leave you bag here, we can pick it up on the way back" he said. "But, I...ugh..." Ruby tried to reply, only to be cut off by Oobleck.

"Young lady, what could be so important in that bag that would make you break my..." Oobleck paused as Zewi took this moment to poke its head out of the bag, happily sticking its tongue out at the professor.

Silence fell as Oobleck eyed Ruby and Zewi, the girl looking uncomfortable as the man took a sip of his canteen. "Get back in the bag" Ruby whispered as Zewi continued to look around as the other four looked at her oddly.

"We're here, to search an abandoned city full of hostility and danger, and you brought...a dog" Oobleck said with a small frown. Ruby tried to think of something as the professor continued to stare at her.

"Genius!" he suddenly barked snatching Zewi from the bag as everyone just looked at the odd ball of the man in confusion. "Canines are historically known for the heightened sense of sound and smell, making them perfect companions for hunters" he said, spinning Zewi around as the dog looked unbothered by the man.

"I'm a genius" Ruby said as the girls looked at her. Both Weiss and Yang face palmed at her words while Blake turned to Oobleck, and Glenn was still mumbling about being called a girl.

You think he would get over it by now.

"So, what are you orders?" Blake asked as the man stopped spinning Zewi. "The main reason for Grim to appear in any area is negative emotion, this city is teaming with the remounts of pain, loss, sorrow, anger, as well as if any group taking up resident would have the same, so we'll track the grim towards them" Oobleck explained.

"So, we're just going to follow any random Grim" Glenn asked as the man nodded. "Yes, like that one" he said, pointing towards the single Beowulf walking out on to the road. "From here on in, we'll track the grim, if it leads us to its pack, the pack will lead us to what we desire" he added as the others watched the stray Beowulf carefully.

"But, it may be days, weeks, moths, lone Grimm have been known to stay isolated from the pack for, and theirs the whole pack" he said, cutting himself off as numerous Beowulf's walked into the street. "Well, let's have some fun" Glenn said as both he and Yang unfolded their gauntlets.

The team of five split up, each taking a different set of Beowulf's as Oobleck observed, his secondary task form Ozpin was to watch the team, and more importantly keep an eye on Glenn...encase that new Grimm was connected to him like the humanoid one was.

Glenn rolled to the left, avoiding a ivory claw as he twisted to his feet, his right fist slamming into the side of the Beowulf's head, a frost shell exploding and taking its head off its shoulders. With a grin, the blonde leaned to the left, a claw cleaving through the air beside his head as he reached up to grab the extended limb, harshly pulling it forward as his left leg kicked back to throw the beats off balance.

As it fell on its back, Glenn drove his free hand into its chest, caving in it as the ribs on the beast crushed its own organs. Straightening up, Glenn moved to take on the next few Grimm, only to pause as the dying beats behind him gripped his leg.

"he calls" it whispered gruffly as the blonde stared at it with wide eyes. "Wha..." before he could think a well made him look up to see another Beowulf looming over him, its claw already moving to rip into his side.

Only for its limbs to freeze up as a black Katana pierced its neck, Blake tearing the beats throat out as she stared at Glenn worryingly. "What happened?" she asked as Glenn shook his head. "Nothing" he replied, turning to kill the next Grimm.

Only to pause as Blake grabbed his hand, the look in her eye making him pause. "I'll tell you later" he whispered, pulling away from her as Blake nodded, narrowing her eyes at the Grimm corpse behind her.

She would find out what's going on, that was for sure.

Two hours past and the last Grimm fell, his arm and most of its chest being sliced off by Ruby's scythe as the girl backed up, panting lightly from the constant fighting and use of her semblance. "You did well girls, we'll go make camp in one of the buildings" Oobleck said, sipping his coffee as Yang looked annoyed at him.

"I thought we would be shadowing a hunter, shouldn't that mean we see you fight?" she asked as the man fixed his glasses before glancing at her. "Yes, but this is your mission, I'm here to evaluate your skills, and help when needed, you five did fine, now ladies, let's go, there are a few more packs around, and we should clear them out before making camp" he said as Yang growled at him.

Glenn placed a hand on her shoulder, making her pause as he brought her into his arms. "Relax, we have this" he whispered as the girl calmed down slightly, still annoyed by the lack of action form the professor.

"Tell me Yang, what made you want to become a huntress?" Oobleck asked sitting with Zewi as the brawler looked back at the green haired man. "Huh?" she questioned. "Well, to fight monster and save..." he was cut off as Oobleck interrupted her.

"No, that is what you do, I want to know why you do it" he said as Yang looked at him oddly. "The honest reason, I'm a frill seeker, I want to travel the world and get wrapped up in as many adventures as I can, and if I save some people along the way, all the better" Yang explained to the man.

"I see" Oobleck mused as he walked away, leaving the girl to take care of the next few Grimm coming their way. "Miss Schnee, what about you, someone born into fame and fortune, you certainly don't need the extra work, so why choose this over a desk job in atlas" he asked.

"As you've said, I'm a Schnee, I have honour and a legacy to uphold, when I found out I could fight, my choice was already made, it was my duty" Weiss explained as Oobleck looked thoughtful. "Interesting" he mused.

"What about you Blake, you seem to carry yourself with a sense of purpose" he asked, looking towards the girl as she shot down a small flock of baby nethermor. "There's to much wrong in this world to just sit around and d nothing about it, inequality and corruption, someone has to stop it" he explained evenly.

"Very well, how?" he asked as Blake looked uncertain. "I...ugh" she couldn't think of an answer as Oobleck hummed, walking away to leave the girl to think. Looking up the man spotted Glenn standing on one of the metal pillars that used to be a building, a Beowulf in his hands as his clawed fingers dug into its throat.

"And what of you Glenn, your different form the others, what made you choose this line of work?" he asked as Glenn glanced down at him, a flick of his wrist crushing the Grimm's throat as it died choking on its own blood.

"Humanity needs protection, if I can help, why not" he said with a shrug as Oobleck narrowed his eyes behind his glasses. "There's more to it than that, I believe"Yeah, Thanatos" the blonde whispered as Oobleck raised an eyebrow.

"He's my problem, no one else can do it, just me" he said as the man nodded. "And what of your teammates, surely you can rely on them" he countered as Glenn looked towards the setting sun in thought.

"Not for this fight" he finished, jumping off the pillar as Blake took care of the last few Grimm around them. "I see, well then, girls, go set up camp in that building over there, your leader and I will be making one last round before we return" Oobleck said as he threw his bag towards Yang.

"And make sure nothing is nearby" he added, walking away with Ruby following him.

As the four moved to set up camp, a pair of large glowing blue eyes looked down upon them, hidden within the destroyed buildings, ivory white claws curling around the metal beams as its gaze locked onto a certain blonde demon.

"...Child" it whispered softly, turning away to sleep for the night. It would show itself soon, the child would need all the help he could get in the coming days.
