*ANGELLIC VOICE* I DON'T OWN ANNNYYYTTTTHHHIIINNNNGGGGG *FLOATS INTO CLOUDS* *DISAPPEARS*

I tell Principal Snow exactly what happened. "Well, I just got to school and I sat down then Johanna's little sister, Lauren, was walking by and Glimmer tripped her and she fell. Madge and I ran over to help. But Johanna was really mad. You see, Lauren has always been bullied really bad. Johanna is super over-protective of her, you know?"

Principal Snow finishes whatever he was writing. "Is that all, Miss. Everdeen?" His voice is so weird. It's like a slithering snake, all whispery and hoarse. Like every sentence is his dying, last words.

I think for a moment. "Yeah,"

"Well, then. You may return to class. I will ask for you over the intercom if you are needed for further questioning." He says. I nod and stand up. My hand is on the door handle when he says, "Would you please ask Madge to come in?"

"Of course, sir." I say and get out in the quickest manner possible. Everyone who was part of the 'fight' is seated on the bench outside Principal Snow's office.

"Madge, your up." I say as I walk past. Johanna is sitting at the end between Lauren and Clove. She gives me a hopeful look and I give her the thumbs up. "I warmed him up for you."

Johanna snort/laughs and gives me the thumbs up back. "Sure, whatever..." She mutters.

I head back to class.

Prim gets huckleberry ice cream and I get the same old vanilla for our walk home. We have to pick up Lindley and the day-care is two blocks from BaskinRobbins. Even though it's December ice-cream is still really good. I know soon Prim will want to go to the bakery for something warm like hot-chocolate or some sort of pastry.

We dump our half-eaten ice-creams into the trash so that Lindley won't ask for one. Mom worries that they might have traces of nuts, which Lindley is allergic too. It's dumb, but I listen to my mom and don't get ice-cream for Lindley or make her sad by walking into the day-care with some.

The day-care is like all the other stores on this street except it has a large sign that says 'Anaheim Day-Care and Preschool.' Prim used to go to preschool here because Rue's Mom, Mrs. Jameson, is the owner and Mom and Mrs. Jameson have been friends since college.

We pick Lindley up everyday and Mom drops her off. I open the glass door and go inside, pulling Prim along.

"Hey, girls!" Mrs. Jameson says, smiling. When she smiles it's hard not to smile back.

"Hi, we're here for Lindley." I say.

"Alright, she's back here. Quiet, now. It's nap-time." Mrs. Jameson leads us down the purple hallway filled with childish-drawings. Mrs. Jameson always dresses like she going to go down the cat-walk and today she's wearing a light blue maxi-dress with long sleeves and white ballet-flats.

I almost can't find Lindley in the sea of sleeping children and blankets. But I spot her blonde hair almost buried in her pink blanket.

Mrs. Jameson steps over the kids and leans over and shakes Lindley awake. "Honey, Katniss and Prim are here. Time to go home." Mrs. Jameson gets a stack of colorful paper covered in scribbles and puts it inside Lindley's backpack.

I take the pink backpack and wave good-bye to Mrs. Jameson and we continue are walk, this time with Lindley. She skips ahead of us, talking loudly about some kids in her class. "One kid, yeah, he had Oreos in his lunch, and he didn't want to eat 'em! So he gave me his Oreos,"

"That's great." I say, really not listening.

As soon as we get home, I know something is wrong. Mom's home and tells us, "Get your bag packed."

"Mom, what's wrong?" I ask.

"Meredith is back in the hospital, it's not good."

I feel something inside me snap. This has happened so many times. At first everyone is all, 'She's better, yah!' Then a few months later, 'Oh no, she's back in the hospital.' It's like a rollercoaster. She's better, she's better, she's better, she's better, she's in the hospital.

I'm about to ask Mom what exactly is going on but all she says is, "I'll tell you more later, just get your bag packed and stay by the elevator with everyone's luggage while I get the soonest tickets for an airplane to Sacramento."

I pack my bag in lightening speed and flash down the hall to the elevator. Mom comes by with Prim's, Lindley's and herself's bag and leaves them with me.

"I'll be back." Mom says and goes back to the apartment.

Now with nothing to do, I have the sudden urge to cry. Not just about Meredith. But everything. About the family-members I've never met. About Dad. Before I know it, I'm crying. I'm not a pretty crier. Most girls cry with a few tears and shaking shoulders, but me? I make weird hiccupping noises and my eyes get all red.

I'm so rolled up in pity for myself I don't notice Peeta coming around the hall corner. He jumps when he sees me. "Hey, are you okay?"

I quickly wipe the tears away and straighten up. "Yeah, I'm fine." But my voice cracks at the end, giving away the total opposite.

"What's wrong?" He asks and walks a little closer.

I look him dead in the eye. "Why do you care?"

He shrugs. "Because."

"That's not an answer." I say.

Then he kisses me.
