27. Chapter 27

SEKIREI HEART OF DARKNESS CHAPTER 27

ESCAPE PART THREE.

I KNOW I SAID THIS WOULD BE THE FINAL PART BUT AFTER YOU READ IM SURE YOU'LL UNDERSTAND WHY I HAD TO END IT HERE INSTEAD OF EXTENDING THE CHAPTER, BUT I PROMISE THE FINAL PART TO "ESCAPE" IS COMING NEXT CHAPTER. ENJOY AND PLEASE REVIEW.

AKITSU AND SHIINA.

Within the first few minutes of the plan, Akitsu and Shiina were ambushed and trapped by Mikogamis sekirei. It only took Akitsu a second to realize the whole thing was a setup, Mikogami was now the head of the discipline squad and his sekirei were the enforcers, Akitsu and Shiina were now trapped inside an old abandoned apartment building with hordes of MBI special forces commandos and a few of Mikogamis sekirei, namely numbers 79, 19, and 39...Natsu, Ikki, and Mitsuki.

"Well that went well, what do we do now Akitsu?" Shiina asked with concern.

"We do the only thing we can do...we FIGHT" Akitsu said with resolve as she froze the edges of a door so the commandos outside couldn't get in.

"How?" Shiina put his arms out in a show of desperation, the little sekirei not used to being in such a situation.

"Ill take the sekirei, you take the soldiers" Akitsu says coldly as she faces Shiina, instilling confidence in the young boy by showing him no fear.

"Alright...or i could just destroy the whole building"

Akitsu eyed the small sekirei with surprise, the building was abandoned anyway...and it would give them plenty of time to escape. "Would you be able to do that Shiina?" Akitsu asks with an air of hope taking on her usually cold voice.

"Yes...i-i mean ive never used my powers to that extent...but i could probably do it..." Shiina says with a shaky voice, struggling to keep his cool.

"Well either you do or we die" Akitsu reminds Shiina, the boy sweat drops at Akitsus blunt reminder of their desperate situation.

BANG!

Akitsu and Shiina take combat stances, they could hear the MBI commandos breaching rooms looking for them, Akitsu pressed her ear to the door and signaled for Shiina to be silent. Akitsu could hear the soldiers kicking doors in, they would then throw grenades into the room and after they went off they would storm in with full force. Akitsu smiled to herself, she now knew how to get her and her young charge out of here alive...

"a-akitsu...whats going on" Shiina whispered, he crouch walked to Akitsus position by the door.

"Commandos are breaching rooms looking for us, there just one floor under us and working there way up, we have 5 minutes tops"

"great...so what do we do?" Shiina asks again.

"I told you, were going to FIGHT or were going to DIE" Akitsu says matter of factly.

"i-i know...i-i mean whats the plan"

"Ill take on both the sekirei and the humans, ill buy you enough time for you to charge up your powers enough to level this whole building, im going to keep the fighting in doors, when your ready ill get us back to the roof and we'll escape."

"o-ok" Shiinas hands were shaking, Akitsu looked back to see Shiina getting his powers ready. The ice sekirei stared in wonder for a second at Shiinas powers manifesting, a green glow formed around his hands and instantly the old chairs and tables in the room began to fall apart and decay.

"So that's why they call you the Death Sekirei..." Akitsu said quietly as she stared in wonder at Shiinas powers.

"Yes...my powers revolve around death and decay" Shiina responds with a trailing voice, not looking at Akitsu but rather being fully focused on bringing his power to full strength.

Akitsu refocused and prepared her defenses, she would leave Shiina in this room while she fought down the stairs of the old apartment building. Akitsu HAD to keep the fighting inside, in close quarters combat the soldiers could only send a few men at her because of the tight space, but outside they could over power her with numbers. The sekirei as well needed to be kept inside the building, Akitsu was a VERY powerful sekirei but fighting THREE experienced sekirei AND a platoon of MBI commandos would be pushing it even for her.

Akitsu moved Shiina into a more secure part of the room and prepared her weapons. The ice sekirei formed two swords plus several ice knives and even ARMOR. The most powerful asset Akitsu had was her ice armor, even Yume had a VERY difficult time cracking it. Akitsu NEEDED the armor more than ever, even with her advanced speed and strength fighting in close quarters meant the enemy would be shooting at her from only a few feet away...Aktisu was fast...but she wasn't faster than a bullet.

Akitsu sucked a big breathe in and blew out. Cold icey wind came from her mouth and encircled her body, the ice wind wrapped around her form and began to harden. Shiina looked out from his cover to see the wind begin to harden and take shape into the armor, the silver haired boy stared in awe at the scene before him...he had never seen anything like this...hell, NOBODY had ever seen anything like this. After about a minute or two the armor was completely formed, Every inch of Akitsus body was now covered in a nearly impenetrable armor.

The armor itself had a very sleek look, it wasn't bulky or heavy, it was actually really light weight and easy to move in. Designed to be the perfect combination of speed and strength, large and small spikes stuck out from the soldiers, head, hips, and back. A row of long spines protruded from Akitsus back, like the sail of a dragon, all the major vulnerable points like the head and heart were protected with thick layers of ice while the parts used for fighting like the fists and legs were more lightly built for speed.

Akitsu looked back to shiina, the ice helmet peeled back to reveal her face. "If anything happens to me i want you to destroy this building and everyone in it, then i want you to run as FAST as you can to Master Sora..." Akitsu says firmly, leaving no room for argument.

Shiina nods at Akitsus orders. "Say it"

"If anything happens to you im too destroy this building and go straight to Sora-sama as fast as i can" Shiina repeats Akitsus orders.

"Good boy" Akitsu turns to go confront the enemy, she turns again and Shiina looks up, "Oh and...i love you Shiina, your my family, ill fight as hard as i can for you"

"Same here sister, now go and show those assholes what your bonds with Sora are capable of"

Akitsu SMILED and the armor reformed around her face. Shiina had to do a double take...Akitsu SMILED...Shiina giggled to himself, 'Akitsu smiling, what has this world come too" Shiina thought to himself.

Akitsu moved her right leg back and raised her fists, she heard the commandos come up the stairs to the floor they were on, the commandos stopped in front of her door and she could hear them getting ready to storm the room.

Akitsu shot forward as fast and hard as she could, breaking right through the door and sending three commandos over the edge of the railing and to their deaths. The other commandos backed away and raised their weapons.

"TAKE HER DOWN TAKE HER DOWN FIRE!" The squad leader yelled, at least six assault rifles opened up on Akitsu at point blank range, the bullets bouncing harmlessly off the ice armor and being sent back to their shooters. Akitsu waited until the soldiers emptied their weapons, then two large ice blades extended from the forearms on the ice armor. Akitsu swung around and stabbed the squad leader with both blades, forcing them through his chest and lifting him up to throw him at the other soldiers...

Akitsu rushed forward with blinding speed and killed the other soldiers while they were reloading. A second squad could be heard coming up the stairs, half the squad went up and the other half stayed at the bottom of the stairs to cover. Akitsu turned the stairs into slick ice, causing the soldiers to all slide down into their comrades.

While the commandos were dazed and trying to regroup Akitsu jumped down and began slicing them apart. A few soldiers opened fire but were quickly cut down, the last one pulled his combat knife and tried to stab Akitsu in the head...the knife broke on impact...Akitsu laughed at the face the soldier made when his knife broke and then decapitated him.

The rest of the Commandos were waiting in the apartment lobby, at least 20-30 men with their weapons all trained on the stair case Akitsu was coming down.

THUMP

THUMP

THUMP

The heavy footsteps of Akitsus armor thudded against the old wood of the building. Blood from the dead soldiers came down the stairs ahead of Akitsu, all the soldiers hearts skipped a beat when they saw the blood, their hands gripping their weapons tightly and sweat freely rolling down their faces.

"Easy men, shes just one sekirei and we have her out in the open, remember short controlled bursts to the head and heart" Sekirei number 19, ikki, ordered her men.

Akitsu finally came down the stairs and presented herself to her opponents. In front of her were at least a platoon of MBI commandos and three experienced sekirei. Akitsu had one arm behind her back, in that arm she formed a bundle of frost arrows, at least 40 arrows that she could fire like a machine gun. IN the other arm she formed a double blades ice sword and began spinning it around lazily, scrapping the sharp ice against the ground to intimidate the soldiers.

"FIRE!" Ikki shouted with one arm pointed towards Akitsu.

Akitsu jumped into the air the second the soldiers started firing, most of them couldn't track her movements so they continued firing at the wall, a few began shooting at her in the air. The ice sekirei used her ability's to stick to the ceiling, she fired her arrow launcher down at the soldiers and sekirei, the rapid fire attachment spewing frost arrows down like a hail storm.

Ikki dove behind a stone pillar, at least ten soldiers were killed in the initial barrage but once they knew where Akitsu was they began hammering the ceiling with heavy machine gun fire.

"haha FOOLS!" Akitsu jumped put of the way and ran back up the stairs. "What is she talking about?" Ikki said to herself before she noticed...the soldiers had shot the ceiling out...

"EVERYONE TAKE COVER!" Ikki yelled as the ceiling in the main lobby came down on top of them. With this building being so old and run down all that heavy weapons fire easily destroyed the support for that section of the roof.

Large wood and concrete chunks fell down into the lobby, most of the commandos got out of the way but the injured or the slow only got crushed underneath the rubble of debris. "FUCK! well what are you waiting for? get up there and KILL that bitch!" Ikki yelled in frustration. The commandos regrouped and sent the rest of their men up the stairs...

Natsu and Mitsuki joined their comrade in the lobby, "You know there all going to die right?" Natsu said casually.

"Yes, in the chaos we will strike and finish her, come on..." Ikki and her partners went up the stairs behind the commandos.

Akitsu jumped back up to the top floor of the old building to check up on Shiina. Akitsu navigated the halls until she came to the room, she went inside to find Shiina with a massive ball of green light, most of the room had been completely stripped away due to the rotting effect that much energy had.

"AH! Akitsu...thank the maker i thought you were dead, how are things looking out there? it sounded like one hell of a party" Shiina asked with concern, his little hands barely able to contain the massive energy he was wielding. Akitsus face armor peeled away to reveal her face.

"Ive done well so far, no major injuries but i don't know how much longer it'll stay that way, the rest of the commandos are coming up right now and i KNOW the three sekirei will be right behind them" Akitsus stated matter of factly, she sat down for a second to take a breather.

"Well perfect timing then because im all set and ready to go, just give me the word and ill turn this place to rubble" Shiina said with pride, pleased that he was able to accomplish his task.

"Good, ill kill the rest of the commandos and then you set off your explosion as soon as i come back up, remember what you have to do if i DON'T come back up"

"Yes sister, but that's not going to happen...i promise" Shiina gave his comrade a warm smile, Akitsu smiled back...she rather liked smiling...it was a new thing for her but she had to admit it was nice.

The sound of the remaining commandos coming up the steps made the two partners refocus and prepare for their last stand. The ice armor came back over Akitsus face and she prepared to launch out into the hallways again...

BOOM!

The entire front wall including the door blew up in a massive fireball, sending sharp debris everywhere and throwing Akitsu and Shiina back. The ice sekirei grabbed Shiina and covered him with her body to protect him from the explosion, her armor absorbing the majority of the deadly blast. Shiina peaked around his protector to see a commando on one knee in front of the wall with a smoking rocket launcher...the bastards used a damn RPG to knock the whole wall down.

The commandos lined up in a firing line and opened up on Akitsu and Shiina, the bullets impacted the back of Akitus armor, chipping away some of the rear spines that stuck out from the back. Shiina was protected from the fire by Akitsu, who was holding onto the boy for dear life to protect him. Shiina could hear a soldiers arming up with more powerful weapons..."Akitsus we have to mov-"

BOOM!

Another RPG was fired, this time it hit dead center on Akitsus back, cracking the armor. The soldiers then concentrated fire on the cracked spot to weaken the armor, Shiinas ears were ringing and his head HURT so much...he couldnt do this...he couldn't just sit here and let Akitsu die...she was gonna DIE protecting him...no...NO!

Shiina got loose of Akitsus hold, "SHIINA WAIT!" Akitsu yelled in panic. The young boy threw a massive wave of energy which completely decimated the remaining commandos, they disintegrated into NOTHING at Shiinas awesome power. Shiina then rushed forward and attacked the three sekirei, forcing them back.

"AKITSU GO, I GOT THIS!"

"NO! WE GO TOGETHER!"

Shiina pushed Akitsu out the window with a light burst from his powers, the attack shattered what was left of her armor but it got her out of harms way.

Akitsu extended her arm in one last attempt to grab Shiina but she was already falling out of the building. Shiina looked back smiled at his comrade, mouthing the words "i love you" and "im sorry"

Akitsus eyes widened when she realized what Shiina was doing...he was sacrificing himself. The three sekirei all attacked at once, each one going for a kill shot, Shiina just stood still and unleashed the massive ball of energy he had been saving up...Shiina thought of his Ashikabi one last time..."Sora-sama...please forgive me."

"WAIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU LITTLE BRAT!" Mitsuki yelled in fear.

"Goodbye Sora Indigo, i will see you on the other side...my love"

The entire building evaporated.

The last thing Akitsu saw before everything went white was Shiinas wings spreading and his eyes turning a bright green as he unleashed all his power in one massive wave. Akitsu slid down the side of a neighboring building and landed safely on a rooftop.

Akitsu got up and looked at where the building used to be.

Sekirei number 107, Shiina...was dead.

He sacrificed himself to save Akitsu and he went out with the thought of his beloved Ashikabi, not a bad death. Akitsu fell to her knees and began crying, the tears falling from her face freely and her sobs of pain echoing in the dark night. Finally Akitsu just let it out...

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I HATE THIS FUCKING CITY!" Akitsu roared in pain, the guilt of failing her comrade came crashing down on her like a tidal wave. "I should have ben the one to die, NOT LITTLE SHIINA, GODDAMMIT WHY! WHY! WHY!...why...i should have been the one, he deserved to live on, he deserved to be happy with Sora...he deserved to live NOT ME!" Akitsu yelled to no one in particular.

Then the thought struck her...if this whole thing was a setup...and the discipline squad knew they were coming...Sora was in danger!..."NO! i am NOT losing Sora, im sorry Shiina...im so sorry but i have to leave...our Ashikabi needs us...but don't worry...no one will forget you, i will carry your heroic tale to Sora and everyone else will KNOW what you did for me...thank you Shiina, my friend" Akitsu said into the night sky, aiming her words at the green cloud which occupied the space the old apartment building used to be in.

Akitsu re gained her composure and lept off into the night towards the sound of gunshots and fighting. Her icey tears continued to fall the entire way she went. Only one thought was one her mind...saving Master Sora.
