Unbreak My Heart

Chapter16

Thank you for hanging around – here's another one, enjoy your reading!

Jethro's house…

Jethro walked down his stairs of the basement, but suddenly stopped at the sight of Jenny standing in front of him. She was standing next to his boat with only her long silky white robe on. "Jen?" he asked concerned. This situation had torn her apart, she was more afraid than ever.

"Tell me the good news…" She whispered. When he didn't answer her right away she asked him again. "Tell me the goddamn news Jethro!" She raised her voice and demanded an answer out of him that instant. She turned to face him, her voice trembling with desire, her eyes red from tears; it was heartbreaking to see her like that, standing there.

She stepped closer and closer to him. This time her face a little bit more serious than earlier. "Tell me you've got him locked up…" She whispered once again, her serious face couldn't longer get a hold. Tears were falling down her cheek once again. Jethro looked at her with sadness in his expression and Jenny knew that He was still out there somewhere.

Jethro took her by her shoulders and stroke her face, helped her swiped the tears away making her cry even more. "We'll get him Jen…" He reassured her, but she shook her head irritated.

"It's been days Jethro!" She screamed out and pulled out of his embrace. She went back to her previous position by the boat with her face away from his. The silence fell upon them once again. A silence filled with torture. Suddenly Jenny turned around again and said the most unforgettable words he could even imagine. Those were the words he'd never forget.

"I'm pregnant" She finally said. Those words, it struck him like lightning.

He stood there, stunned of what he' just been told. The words were playing like scenarios in his head; 'I'm pregnant'. He didn't know what to do. There was going to be a child in his life once again. How was he supposed to handle this? And he was absolutely certain that the baby was his. No–Kelly, what about Kelly? Thoughts of Shannon and Kelly floated around his mind. Flashbacks of Shannon telling him that she was pregnant with their first child was all he was seeing. But no–this time it was not Shannon. It was Jenny–it was Jenny whom he got pregnant and was telling him about it. Did he want this? He didn't expect any of this at all. All he could think about was how much he wanted his girls back in his arms.

Jenny watched him carefully, waiting for him to say a single goddamn word. Instead he just stood there, frozen, like the freaking statue of liberty! Deep down she knew what he was thinking–what exactly he was thinking and what he deeply wanted.

She left him standing alone in his own basement floor, unaware that she was already gone. His reaction broke her. Once again she was broken. She had enough. She had too much on her plate at this time. A killer who wanted her dead and it wasn't just her now, she needs to protect herself. She promised herself that it was not going to be like the last time. She was willing to fight for her family.

Jethro, no one had seen him for a while. One minute he was standing in the squad room, working on finding the bastard. And the next he was gone. He was gone for so long no one knew anything. McGee tried to triangulate his location but his phone was still in his drawer.

Everyone near to them needed to be protected. None of them knew how much damage Patrick could do or will do. Jackson Gibbs was dragged out of his store form Pennsylvania, without his will. He constantly insisted on staying back home but no argument could've been done by the FBI, they were good at negotiating.

Gibbs–they were still trying to find Gibbs. Jenny needed him; she will need him more than ever.

"Hell of a life you've got here son" He heard a voice behind him. But he didn't turn around to see who it was, because he already knew who that voice belonged to.

Jackson Gibbs walked towards his son closer and closer through the graves.

Jethro was standing alone in the cemetery, as he always was whenever he did come to them. He was standing in front of their graves and has been standing there for hours now. For the first time in a long time, he was lost. He didn't know how to find his way back home again. And for the first time in a long time, he doubted his feelings; he doubted where he'd belonged.

"It's been a long time" Jackson Gibbs told his son. "Long time since I've been here–maybe too long" Jethro didn't move, not even a single sound was made out of him. He was just standing there, silently, his eyes locked on their names.

Looking at their graves made everything easier and maybe even better. Time used to stand still every second his eyes met their names.

"Does she know where you are Leroy?" Jackson asked smoothly. But he also knew the answer to his own question. If he would've gone to see Shannon and Kelly, then no one would've known anything.

Jackson was still standing behind him, but had his full view, also on their graves. His eyes searching for their names and he found them. Jackson took a look around. It was cold outside. The Fall had fallen over Washington DC. Colorful leafs lying on the ground. It was beautiful in DC this time of year, but for them 'beautiful' was not on their mind. The atmosphere wasn't the same.

"Are you planning on going back there son?" It seems like Jackson only talked to thin air. Questions were asked for his son, but no answers back. "You have a killer to catch–and people to protect"

Jethro sighed, for the first time in a long time, he sighed, and he made a sound. Jackson felt relieved. "I know Dad" And finally words came out of his lips, but his face still held the same position.

"Then why the hell are you standing here for!" His father growled at him. The elder Gibbs finally got closer and closer to his son. He put his hand on his son's shoulder. "You need to make a decision son" He said, looking between his son and his already buried family.

"How can I choose between my family and someone else?" Jethro sighs bitterly.

"It's your family too Leroy!" Jackson growled.

"That's not a choice Leroy" His father explained. "Jenny is already family. The choice is whether you want her to be part of you or not?" Jackson answered softly. "It's not a choice between the dead and the living, it's about whether you want her in your life or not Leroy and you know that"

There was no doubt that Jethro missed them. Shannon and Kelly were always there. Jethro knew he's father was right. He needed to make a decision. And it was going to be a choice that he'll live with for the rest of his life. No–no he couldn't make it. He was always afraid of someone replacing his girls. He's long for them since the day they died. And the thought of a life with another woman, who wasn't them, was terrified. Shannon was the love of his life and no one could ever replace that. But Jenny–Jenny, he was in love with her, he loves her. The thought of losing her, it made his heart trembling. But could he make it? Could he possibly make that decision and live with it? And even if he could, was it already too late. Jenny hated him for what he's done. Thoughts were everywhere on his mind.

Back at the Navy Yard…

Hectic days and many hours had it been since the news on the fugitive. It had been some drug lord working together with a dangerous arms dealer, which made sure Patrick was out. With him being out, nothing is certain anymore. Jenny wasn't as safe as they hoped. Everything was about to get into normal and this happens…nothing is what it seems to be.

The team's working their asses off to find the fugitive with the help from the FBI and other sister agencies. Apparently Patrick has a lot of connections with the most wanted arms dealer on every agencies most wanted list. Everything was about to burst out in the open.

Jethro was sitting silently on his desk, furious that none of them have any idea of Patrick's whereabouts. He felt like being trap between life and death. This case was about to get dirty. Yet again he relived what happened when he took revenge on his family's death. Nothing could get Patrick down. Jethro was thinking irrationally. 'Maybe this was the only way' was he's only thought of the situation. They have been on the first step for days now, and nothing was helping, he was always a few steps ahead.

"Boss…" Tony said carefully.

Jethro was standing silently in front of the screen flicking through image after image of Him.

"We found his burn phone, just outside the Director's townhouse" Tony informed his boss. "McGee and Abby are trying to get the call log of it now"

Tony stepped even closer to Jethro, carefully. "Jethro" He said. "Jenny needs you" He said smoothly. Jethro turned around and looked at him carefully. He studied his senior field agent's face thoroughly. He knew Jenny needed him more than anyone else. It felt like he left her. He had left the woman he loved–the woman he got pregnant.

"Who's with her?" Words finally came through his lips.

"Ziva, along with some of Fornell's guys"

Within seconds, Jethro left the squad room. "You call me DiNozzo!" He hollers at back Tony.

"On it boss!"

Abby's lab…

"McGee come on! We have to catch this guy!" Abby said hysterically.

"Abby I know that, it's just–I mean this is smart. He knows better than us"

"Don't let Gibbs hear you say that probie" Tony said as he walked towards them. "Got anything on that phone?"

"Not yet, but we found something else" McGee explained. "We traced the last call to this morning at 0745"

"Where was his location at the time?" Tony asked. He waited for the answer, but none of them spoke up.

"McGee!" He called for him. "His location"

McGee looked at Abby concerned and started typing the keyboard. "His last location at the time" McGee gestured for Tony to look at the screen. His eyes popped up quickly.

"Damn…" Tony mutters.

"Tony that means he never left! He was always here; anywhere the Director goes He goes!" Abby said. "How are we going to catch this guy?"

"We need to tell Gibbs" All three looked at each other rather concerned, and they all knew how badly Gibbs was these past few days.

Driving he's car to Jenny's townhouse silently, Jethro was determinate to confront Jenny about everything – maybe not confront her, but sort things out with her. He wanted to make things right with her again. His decision was important. It involved two peoples of his life now and one of them was an unborn. He wanted to make everything okay again. He wanted what they once had. He put Jenny through hell, and he knew that very well. It was love he felt for and nothing else. This decision was not out of guilt or anything like that. His feelings were true. Shannon–she was always going to be there, there's always Shannon in his heart no matter what happens. He was lost for a long time since their deaths; his many paths were hidden from him. But through all that and towards this time–he had found that path again. Jenny was–is his savior.

He pulled the car up the drive way. Agents were everywhere around the house and along the street of Georgetown. Fornell walked up to him.

"Gibbs" Fornell greeted.

"Anything knew?"

"One of your agents called, apparently the bastards never left, he made a call, 'bout 200 yards from here" Fornell informed his friend.

"I know…" –was Jethro's only answer.

"Son of a bitch! How the hell did we missed that!?" Fornell cursed out. "We have every damn agency working on this case, we'll get him"

"I need to talk to her–"Jethro said and walked towards the house, opened the front door and met with Ziva at the top of the stairs.

"Gibbs" She greeted.

"Ziver" And she nodded. "Where is she?"

"In the master bedroom, she has not been eating Gibbs" She informed her boss with the important detail. "She also knew you were coming and said to not let you inside"

Jethro walked towards the door, brushing off her last sentence. He found her lying on her side of the bed, with only her back facing him. The light was on. She had her favorite lavender robe on, it revealed her legs quite enough, but he didn't think much about it – he was here for a purpose and one purpose only – the right purpose.

He walked towards her closer and closer, he could sense her tensing up. His steps were silent, but somehow he knew that she knew he would come.

Somehow Jenny always knew when Jethro was in the room. She felt his presence. The thought of him and what happened to them the last time they've talked to each other, it made her eyes filled with tears and they quickly fell down her cheek.

Silently and carefully he was now standing in front of her. He saw her lying on her side, starring at nothing but air. She didn't move when he stood there. He finally kneeled in front of her, surprising both himself and her, although she still didn't make a move, but the way her eyes changed directions gave away her feelings. He kneeled slowly but heavily in front of her as if he was defeated.

"I'm sorry Jen–"Was what he said to her. Sadness fell upon his expression. Jenny continued to stare at nothing, not even a single wince or look at him. The only thing moving were the tears falling down like little rivers on her cheek. She have longed for those words from him. She wanted him to say those words, not only say it but meant it as well. Finally having heard it from him, she couldn't answer him back. She felt betrayed. A betrayal from someone she loves. It was twice too much from someone she loved.

Tears didn't stop, she sighed, tired of everything. Having enough of the emotional situation, she got up roughly and exited the master bedroom–leaving Jethro on the floor, still kneeling with his head down. He wanted to kick himself for letting her go.

Ziva came in after seeing Jenny leaving. She saw her boss, still in the same position for minutes now. She'd never thought she would see Gibbs feel so–weak.

She stood still at the threshold. "I have spoken to Jenny, she told me about the call" She said carefully, but no reaction from him.

Suddenly he stood up slowly, like he was carrying a heavy burden behind his back.

"It was a threat, the call lasted only for a minute and we did a BOLO on his face and the missing car" She informed him carefully.

"What about my Dad?" He asked concerned.

"Two NCIS agents are placed outside your house"

Suddenly she took a step closer towards him. "I do not know what is going on between you and her. But…I can connect the dots" She said. "She paid a visit to the bathroom many times and stayed there for hours"

"She is expecting a child – yes, Gibbs?" He finally asked him her intentional question.

She saw him nodded slowly. Ziva took a deep breath and made a gesture that she understood.

He walked by past her with heavy feet, and down the stairs once again, without achieving his goal.

Down the hall he took a look back before opening the door, he saw a glimpse of Jenny in her study. She was just standing there. It had been too much for any of them to handle.

NCIS squad room…

The squad room was as hectic as ever with agents running around everywhere.

"Tony what do we have?" Jethro hollers for his team as he walked towards the bullpen.

Both Tony and Tim looked up, nervous about what they were about to say to him. "Local PD picked up a guy claiming to be an NCIS agent. They ran a facial recognition and turns out it was him boss" Gibbs' eyes popped up.

"Last seen; four blocks from the Director's house boss" It was McGee's turn to talk.

Jethro looked at the screen, a picture in form of a map. He could see Jen's house clearly.

"That means he's always in the neighborhood. I mean this guy's got every arms dealer and drug lord protecting his ass" Tony growled annoyingly.

"In this tact, we'll never catch this guy on time boss" McGee said and Tony glanced at him.

Jethro eyed the screen carefully, starring at the map with Patrick in his mind when suddenly his phone rang–unidentified caller. He starred at the block ID, glancing up at the both agents, gestured for them to their phones and picked up.

"Gibbs" He said roughly, knowing full well who that unidentified caller was.

"Special Agent Gibbs…" He said. "It's been a while may I say"

Jethro kept him going as McGee tried to track the call to his position.

"I was less than happy to know about Jennifer's condition" His voice sounded serious. "I won't say I blame you for this Agent Gibbs – Jennifer – she was always…around" He laughed.

"It won't be like the last time" Jethro growled and a laugh could be heard on the other side of the phone. Jethro greeted his teeth.

"And how would you stop me?" He challenged. "How do you know that I'm not with her right now?"

Those words made Gibbs a person, he never thought he was. It was like about Shannon and Kelly again. Those feelings came crawling back to him once again. But this time he knew about it. He knew what's going to happen–he didn't have a clue when it came to Shannon and Kelly, but this time he did and it made it all worse.

"And you can tell you Agents to stop tracking this call, it won't be necessary Gibbs" Patrick said, but yet wasn't quite surprise about this. It was quite predictable of him. Patrick was going to find him or Jenny anyway. Both knew that Patrick always had a few steps ahead of Jethro. "I am too, tired of this little cat and mouse game"

Jethro was skeptical about this. He quickly wrote something down on a piece of paper and handed it to Tony.

Tony read it and started his task from his boss. Tony was on the phone. No answer from Ziva's cell. Then he decided to dial Fornell's number…he waited a few signals, but still no answer. Then when he was about to give up, someone spoke up.

"DiNozzo…" Fornell answered quietly. "He's here…"

Tony's eyes widened. Jethro looked over at Tony and he starred at Jethro.

Jethro knew what it was. He hung up the phone with Patrick; took his gun and badge with him and rushed over to the elevator with Tony and Tim behind him, quickly.

Jenny's townhouse…

It was dark in the house when Gibbs and the team arrived.

"Gibbs, are you here?" He heard Ziva in the ear.

"Where's Jen?" He didn't waste any time. All guns were drawn.

Ziva didn't answer him back, that's when he knew he was not going to like what's coming. They all heard something upstairs and rushed towards it. They met with Ziva and Fornell at the top with a sudden rush. All of them looked at the same direction of Jenny's bedroom. Jethro kicked the door open, and nothing there. They hit the light to see it clearer, and still nothing – no sight of Jenny; they were starting to get a bit desperate.

A ringtone came out of nowhere. It was Jen's blackberry. Jethro picked it up roughly and answered it half-hearted, because he knew who it was on the other side of the line.

"Where is she?" He asked, starring at the air. He looked out of the window and waited for an answer.

Tony and the others stood there while Jethro was on the phone. They couldn't hear anything specific, but could connect the dots, but considering what Jethro said, and that way they could put the pieces together. They were negotiating. Gibbs wanted Jenny back, unharmed.

Jethro walked further into the bedroom. "You give her to me right now!" They heard Gibbs shout through the phone. "I wanna talk to her…" He said, suddenly with a calm voice, but it still sounded irritated.

"Jen?" Jethro asked, hoping she was willing to talk, hoping that Patrick would keep her from any harm.

The others didn't hear anything. It was quite–the silence was unbearable, it was suffering to not hear anything, or know anything. They turned their heads and starred at each other.

The team and Fornell straightened up when Jethro suddenly hung up the phone and turned around. "Boss?" Tony asked him. "What happened?"

"He wants a deal" Gibbs replied.

"What kinda deal?" Fornell broke in.

"There's a bomb, somewhere" Jethro slowly explained. "Either we have Jen and the bomb goes off…or…"

"Or he gives us the location of the bomb and the Director stays…" Tony starred at Jethro, shocked of everything that happened the last few days. "Boss – that's practically suicide either way!"

Confused, he walked out of the bedroom and down the stairs. He wanted Jenny; he wanted her and the baby safe and sound. No way was this going to happen again. His one chance of a family again was not going to get ripped away from him – not that easily. He starred at the little statue at the hallway, he studied it carefully – Patrick, if he didn't have Jenny, no one would. That's it! If He didn't have Jen, then no one would! The bomb, he figured it out.

"Gibbs?" he heard voices coming down the stairs as he turned his head towards the direction.

"McGee! Can you triangulate the last call he made?" Jethro asked him.

"Uuuh course boss…" McGee replied and started working on his computer.

"Gibbs, wanna share with the rest of the class?" Fornell pushed.

"Trying to find the bomb and my family…" Jethro replied.

"How are you going to figure it out? You think Jenny knows where it is?" Ziva shrugged confusingly.

"The bomb is Jen" Jethro slowly informed them. The shock that hit them was beyond…everyone turned their heads towards him, looking at him with saddened eyes. "McGee – found something yet?"

"Umm just one sec boss – he didn't exactly made it hard for us to not trace this. It's like the guy wants us to find him…"

"Maybe…" They all stood beside McGee in the living room, looking down at the computer.

"He's in the restaurant de Paris boss!" McGee announced.

"Come on!" Jethro called and they were out of the door.

Driving through Georgetown, straight to the restaurant, fast and loud – Jethro didn't waste any time, because there was no time to waste. It was he's family. No one touches his family – not a second time.

"The SWAT team, bomb squad and FBI special unit are on their way right now – everyone's practically after this guy" Fornell informed his friend. Looking over at Jethro who was too busy driving 'through cars'.

"They can have him – after I finish with him"

Restaurant de Paris…

Jenny – she was sitting down on the chair decorated with white sheet and a big ribbon at the back of it. She was not tied up, nothing covered her mouth. She was sitting still, silently – haven't talked in a while since she got there. He made her do things she didn't want to. He kissed her, he bathed her, and he made her wear a white gown which looked awfully like her old wedding dress. But this one was smaller and tighter. But he took care of her; he took care of the baby – he treated the situation like the baby was his. And there was this vest she was going to wear in a minute. She studied it thoroughly. It was clear what it really was. He told her once before to get rid of Jethro. And if he couldn't have her, then Jethro wouldn't either.

"It's time…" He announced, helping her put on the vest. He zipped it up and studied her. "You look so damn beautiful" He said and kissed her forcefully – Jenny struggled.

"Why me?" Jenny asked him harshly.

"You know why" He said simply. Patrick looked out the window. "Aaah he's here – and with the rest of the U.S population" He stated sarcastically.

They parked the car carelessly and got out, headed towards the entrance of the restaurant. He saw a glimpse of Jenny – Jenny in a beautiful white dress. She had a vest on, tight around her stomach. "Fornell, where's the bomb squad?" Jethro asked harshly.

"Any minute" Fornell responded.

They drew out their guns and went into positions. Snipers placed around the block, FBI, CIA, NCIS, Homeland…everyone in the alphabet soup was here. There was no chance he was getting out of there alive. But yet again – they didn't know who was going down and who was coming out.

Seeing her sitting on that chair, silently and firmly – he couldn't breathe. Jethro had his gun on the side. His team placed out in the restaurant. He glanced over at Jenny. She met his eyes. He couldn't read. She just stared at him.

"She's beautiful isn't she?" Patrick interrupted his thoughts. His fingers played with her hair and got hooked at the end of her curls. Jenny didn't flinch. She was familiar with his touch.

Jethro's jaw tightened. His eyes set in vengeance. His family was right there, in front of him. "You okay Jen?" Jethro asked calmly. He wanted to reassure her, that it was them in the room and only them. She nodded slowly, gave him a smile and was set to get up and meet him, but Patrick pushed her down the chair.

"Sit still honey, and stay calm – no harms to the baby remember?" He instructed her and she did as she was told.

Jethro took a step closer but was stopped. "Not a single move Agent Gibbs, or Jenny goes" He threatened. Didn't know if he's bluffing or not, Jethro started to move backwards.

He looked around, found his team positioning themselves. They all nodded – it was all clear. He had the call to take him down. "It's your call boss" He heard DiNozzo's voice through his ears.

But – no, not yet. Jenny – not before Jen was safe and sound. Jethro slowly reached for his gun. His team was ready. They all slowly stepped forward Patrick and Jenny. Jethro almost did reach his gun. Patrick saw everything, he was very well aware of the situation. He had the intention of not coming back. But – Jenny was going with him. Patrick reached for his own gun. Jenny saw it and grabbed him by the arm.

"Jen stay down!" Jethro's voice echoed through the restaurant. Finally Patrick shoved her down on the ground and…

"Jethro!"
