Bells,

It's your dad here. I know you and your mom don't have the best relationship but some girls get mad when their dads find someone else to spend their life with. I have met someone that I want to try a relationship with and want to know what your opinion on it is.

Love dad

I had finished my dad's email and promptly started to laugh as hard as I could and a little too loudly also. He wanted my permission to date. He was a grown man who had his wife left him (alone with their young daughter) for a washed up baseball star with no money, he didn't need to ask me. Now if my mom had died I would feel a whole lot different and most likely wouldn't like him dating anyone. But since my mom is alive and living well in Florida and ignoring any calls my dad and I make to her. I couldn't be any happier than I was in the moment of reading that Email. My dad was finally moving on from the heart break my mother caused all those years ago.

"Miss Bella are you alright?" The maid asked.

"I'm just fine, I was reading an email from my dad and could not help but laugh at it." I replied.

"What did he say that caused you to laugh so much?"

"I guess he thought that he needed to ask me if I thought it was okay for him to date. He's a grown man and my dad he doesn't have to ask me."

"Some dads are like that. But they are few and far between. The others just want to jump the bones of the next woman they see." The maid then gasped and stop talking. "I'm sorry the words just slipped out of me."

"That was nothing. I've heard steamer stories in the girls' locker room after gym."

"It wouldn't surprise me. Will you need anything more from me tonight?"

"No I will be fine." I replied. "Thanks for asking."

Once the maid was gone I thought about my dad a little more before finally sending my message to him.

Dad,

I am your daughter not your mother. You can go on a date without asking me but thanks for asking anyway. Go on that date and have fun and most of all BE HAPPY!

Bells.

I made sure that the Email had gone through before I shut down my computer and got ready for bed. I could not help but think about the type of woman that would actually have my dad emailing me for permission or approval to date them. Something tells me that she has to be one hell of a woman to have him worrying about what I thought when it should be the other way around especially with me being so far from home and an ocean between us. It was those thoughts that lulled me to sleep once I climbed into bed.
