Update: July 6 2016

It only took two weeks since Mrs. Boscastle told me in a not so threatening way that I should stay as far away from Edward (Ted as I called him) as I possibly could. And to my surprise I stayed away from him. I spent my time doing homework for my classes and spending time with jasper or writing home to dad.

Going to the Golden Summer Ball tonight was the furthest thing from my mind. I was not planning on going at all. I don't dance all that well so going to a place where dancing was the main activity would not be a good idea. I also did not want to deal with Tanya and her mother making snide comments about me all night while they plotted on getting Tanya and Edward together.

I had been finishing up one of my class assignments when Mrs. Dunn walked into the room. She was dress like she always was a prim and proper lady that looked like she had a stick stuck up where the sun doesn't shine.

"Isabella I need you to go help Tanya get ready. Her normal dresser called in sick today."

"Why me Mrs. Dunn?" I asked.

Mrs. Dunn didn't answer and just pointed to the hall way.

I waited outside Tanya's door for ten minutes. I knocked twice before she even said anything. I knocked again and finally she threw the door open. There was no way that I could help her. Tanya was dressed from head to toe in a black fitted dress that looked like it would better fit a toddler than a grown woman like Tanya.

"What do you want? I was busy." She snapped.

"Sorry but your mom told me to come and help you get ready." I told her.

"Well I am doing just fine. So go away. I need my quiet time before I have to deal with my sister."

"You have a sister?"

"Yes and we do not get along. After all she was from my father's first marriage."

"Does she live with her mother?"

"No. Her mother is dead and Charlotte either stays in her dorm or over with that filthy boyfriend of hers." She said. "Now get the hell out of my room."

Tanya did not have to tell me twice after all she slammed the door in my face. I walked as fast as I could away from her room before she changed her mind.

It was almost time for me to call my dad. I couldn't wait to see how his latest date with Sue went. If he said anything because he's tight lipped about that kind of thing. But I can't blame him with the way my mother left him (and me) when I was just barely three years old.

It was just after seven (I knew this because the Dunn family left for the Ball) when my Skype program said I had a call. I clicked on the icon and a window opened up. But it wasn't my dad that appeared the screen.

"Who are you and where is my dad?" I asked.

"Your dad is okay but one of the officers got injured during a traffic stop. Your dad stopped by the hospital on his way home to see how he was doing." They said. "I am Sue his girlfriend."

"Oh. Uh… thanks for telling me. Who got hurt?" I asked.

"I don't think I can tell you that." Sue said.

"That doesn't surprise me. Can you tell my dad to call me at this time tomorrow if he can?"

"Sure that would be no problem."

"Thanks tell my Dad that I love him and to be careful out on the streets."

Sue was a good woman for my dad. She was a much better fit for my dad than my mom ever was. I could not wait to meet her face to face. I log off of my computer and picked up one of the novels I had been reading recently. It was by a new author that brought a comedy aspect to crime novels a bit like Janet Evanovich with the Stephanie Plumb novels. (I am totally team ranger).
