Dancing with the man that had asked me to dance was much easier than I thought it would be and true to my word his toes did take a few hits. We'd just started the last of several dances when the alarm Alice had set on my phone went off. I pulled away from the man rather quickly.

"Did I do something wrong?" He asked.

"No but I have to go. I shouldn't be here now." I said running from him as quickly as possible. I could not believe that time had gotten away from me so quickly.

When I got to the curb in front of the hotel and hailed a cab. I jumped in as fast as I could when it pulled up. I didn't calm down a single bit until I got into my room at the Dunn house. I was happy to get the dress off and in to some much more comfortable clothes.

CINDERELLA and THE DUKE OF WARWICKSHIRE!

The Duke appeared at the Golden Summer Ball held just two days ago. Several attendees say that the Duke seemed disinterested in the event and paid little to no attention to anything around him (including most if not all of the single women).

However as the clock inched closer to midnight two of the attendees said that the Duke's attitude improved but neither of them could say if this improve meant was due to alcohol consumption or not.

Most of the other attendees that we have spoken to said that his attitude changed with the appearance of a mysterious brown haired beauty. They said our Cinderella walked over to the bar where the Duke had been standing for some time and got herself a drink. After a few short minutes the Duke walked up and spoke to her.

Not a single attendee could tell us what was said but several suspect it was for a dance as the Duke led Cinderella out on to the dance floor a few minutes later. They shared several dances until Cinderella rushed off just before midnight. My only question: what was the glass slipper? A shoe? A phone? A MP3 player?

EPOV

I put the paper down after reading it for the third time in as many hours. I really liked the girl and wished that she hadn't run away. But something (and I hoped it wasn't me) had spooked her into running off.

"Why don't you just clip the article and save it like a stalker you are becoming." My cousin James said walking into my study.

"I would have to know her name and where she lived to become a stalker and I know nothing about her except her hair, eye and skin color." I replied. "Now tell me what in the hell you want."

"You know what I want." James said.

"And you know I won't give it to you." I said. "You got yourself into that mess with the girl and I think you should be the one to get yourself out of it."

"You are going to regret this." James said. "I am an heir too. I deserve half of that money and you should give it to me."

"You already pissed away your trust fund on gold digging women and gambling. All of the money and the dang title belongs to me." I snapped. "Now get the hell out of my house."

I got up from behind my desk and followed James out of the house. I stood with my arms cross and watching as he drove off the property and let the security team know that he was to be detained until police could take custody if he showed up again. I returned to my study only when the head of security told me he was gone.

I walked to the small bar I had set up and poured myself a glass of whiskey and sat down by the fire. I drank down half of the glass and set it down. I pulled the broken charm from 'Cinderella's' bracelet out of my pocket. It had been the girls and it was now mine and would be until I could give it back to her.
