As soon as I heard the gun shots in the air I spun around and looked for where they were coming from. I figured it was coming from the man that was busy running from the ballroom with several security officers running after him.
Since the security had the suspect handled I turned my attention to the small crowed if people in the middle of the dance floor. I walked over to see if they needed help and to offer mine if help was needed.
"Is everything alright?" I asked. "I saw security running after the man I suspect has the gun. Was anyone else hit?"
"Oh no we are all okay. I don't think that mad man hit anyone. Edward only hit his head when that young man pushed him to the ground." Esme Cullen said pointing to Jasper Whitlock. "I hate thinking about what would have happened if he hadn't done so."
"It was nothing ma'am." Jasper said. "I'm just sorry that I made him hit his head. I guess I pushed him a bit harder than I thought."
"He most likely has a concussion. We need to get him medical attention."
"Can we move him?" Esme asked.
"It wouldn't be wise but with all these people... Just tell me where to move him." I said.
"There is a small dressing room usually used by brides would that work?"
"Yes. Now have the police been called?"
"Yes. Several people have called to report the shooting. They should be arriving any moment now." Esme said.
Jasper and two other gentlemen helped me move Edward Cullen to the dressing room his mother Esme pointed us to. We lay Edward down on a couch inside the room just as Edward had started to stir awake. Once he did Esme made him stay where he was with the help of his cousin Alice.
"Alice go get a cool rag and some ice." Esme said.
"Can someone tell me what in the hell happened?" Edward asked.
"Someone tried to shoot you but Jasper here pushed you down before any of the shots could hit you." Esme told him.
Edward tried to sit up but was again pushed back on to the couch by his mother. He still continued to resist.
"Edward you need to remain still." I told him. "You hit the back of your head pretty hard and your continuing to move could agitate it and make it worse."
"Sorry but this couch is not the most comfortable to be laying on. Have the police been called?" He replied.
"Yes they have dear. Several of the guest called when they heard the shots and saw you fall. I'm sure a fair few of them think that you were shot." Esme said. "I thank god you weren't."
"Excuse me the paramedics are here for Mr. Cullen." A woman in uniform said. "The police however would like to speak to everyone else before you leave unless you need medical attention that is."
"Thank you and send in the paramedics for Mr. Cullen." I said. "We will speak after he has been taken care of."
An hour or so later Edward Cullen was getting his much needed treatment. Meanwhile the others (including his mother and father) were being questioned by the police but that didn't take long.

Shots Fired at charity Ball, the Duke of Warwickshire Injured.
Written by: Anita Van Burin Photograph by: Kat James
Last night at the annual Christmas Charity Ball held by the Duke of Warwickshire (Edward Cullen) himself. The night had gone off as planned without a single problem until a masked gunman snuck into the event through an unguarded and unlocked door and fires several shots in the young duke's direction.
Several whiteness say the Duke fell to the ground just after the shots were fired. He was taken for medical treatment at a nearby hospital shortly following the arrival of police. As of publication time no update on the Duke's condition has been given. The leaves us and just about everybody else praying and hoping for the Duke's speedy recovery. To those that want to help solve this crime a tip line has been set up for that very reason. Call xxx-xxx-xxxx to leave anything you may know about the crime.
Duke's Attacker Caught!
Written by: Silvia Von Dean Photograph by: Jane Meyer
The Duke of Warwickshire who was injured two nights ago on the twenty-first can rest well tonight knowing that the man that shot at him is in police custody. That man still remains unidentified as the police investigation continues.
Details of the man's arrest have not been disclosed to the press at this time. The police will only say that he is in custody and being questioned.
There is still no word from the Duke of Warwickshire or his camp on how he is doing or why they think this happened.
This reporter can't blame them even though inquiring minds want to know. But when all is said and done at the end this case is far from over and will surely be talked about for months if not years to come. And let's hope this is the only dark spot on the Duke's Christmas holiday.

"Edward put those away already. Guest will be arriving soon." My mother said. "Besides you will only make yourself depressed reading those bloody papers."
"Who is all going to be here tonight?" I asked.
"Only myself, your father, Alice, Jasper the young man that saved you and Mr Swan and his lovely daughter." She said. "Are you okay with that or is it too many?"
"That number is fine but if you add anymore it will be too much to handle." I said. "What is the time?"
"It is just after six pm. You can take a pain pill if you need to."
"No I am okay, just a little tired."
"Eat at least one plate of food and then you can leave the table and go to bed."
"Can't I just eat in my room.?" I asked. "I could rest and relax more that way."
My mother just rolled her eyes and said that I would be eating dinner with my guest like the gentlemen she raised me to be and not hold up in my room like a monk. I gave up after my mother's guilt trip.
"Edward everyone is here if you would like to join us."
I left my room (reluctantly) a few moments later knowing that my mother was rather persistent that I join them and very unlikely to give up.
"Edward it's great to see you doing so well." Mr. Swan said.
"Thank you Mr. Swan. I am much better now that I'm home."
"Now let's eat." My mother said leading us into the dining room.
Dinner was good and so was desert but the moment I knew I could get away without my mother scolding me for leaving my guest I ran to my office.
I had to look into something for my aunt about her divorce which she still hasn't told my parents about. She refused to tell them but I have no clue why.
