THE PHANTOM'S REALM
CHAPTER SIXTEEN: THE BATTLE OF PHANTOM CITY
"How did they get out of your sight, Reaper?" Frostbite asked as he held both halfas with one hand each, still unconscious.
"Phantom and Plasmius started fighting pretty spontaneously, I got lost trying to keep track of Danielle and the civilians in the area. Didn't know where they were until I got your call." Death informed the ice yeti.
"Yes, Plasmius came out of nowhere when Lady Danielle, Ember and I were wandering the city grounds. Sir Phantom arrived almost immediately after, before any of us had a chance to do much." Dora vouched for Death's statement.
Frostbite glared at the unconscious halfa in his right hand. He half-wished that Plasmius was awake just so he could knock him out again himself!
"Yeah, it wasn't even two full seconds after Phantom saw Plasmius with Danielle, Ember and Dora before he was gone. Sure enough, explosions followed. Lots and lots of explosions." Death agreed.
Frostbite sighed. He supposed as long as the Great One was unharmed for now, everything was okay. Suddenly Death winced, as if something was hurting his head.
"Hurry, they're starting to wake up." Death urged. Frostbite and Dora looked at him suspiciously.
"How do you know that?" Dora demanded, looking at the robed specter, who chuckled nervously.
"Well, see, I sorta-um- how do I say this? I'm the one that knocked them out." Death said suddenly. He saw Dora and Frostbite's shocked and almost angered faces and hurried to explain further. "I mean I forced their minds activities down, like I do on the job sometimes, but nowhere near that extent. I guess I still overdid it though. I didn't mean for them to change back either."
Frostbite still looked a tad angry, probably for Death 'assaulting' the Great One, but cooled off noticeably when Danny's eyes twitched. Frostbite settled for a sigh.
"I suppose it's also my doing. I'm the one who told you to get the Great One and Plasmius to stop fighting one another." Frostbite said solemnly. He glared forcefully at Vlad as his foot twitched.
"Reaper, what do we do? They're waking up." Dora asked, turning back to Death. Who looked utterly helpless.
Death was hunched over, both hands on his head as he concentrated full force on keeping the halfas down. Dora gasped and used her Phantom Phones that she just remembered she had.
"Ember, Lady Danielle, Skulker, Technus, get down to the meeting room as fast as you can!" Dora ordered them, but offered no further explanation as to why before she disconnected her call.
"Princess, what do you think we should do? We can't let them wake up and resume fighting but we have nowhere to place-" Frostbite said, cutting off with another hard glare at Vlad, whose fingers were twitching.
"I- I don't know, Sir Frostbite." Dora uttered, completely lost.
It was never her who had to make these kinds of decisions, even in her own kingdom. They hardly ever fought while she was in power and when they did they never locked anybody away. And she certainly didn't make such decisions here. Even though she was sure Sir Phantom wouldn't mind it, she knew it was him and his family to make such decisions regarding their enemies.
Before Dora could answer Frostbite further, Death let out a cry that was sure to have scared the humans even on the floor above just as Danny and Vlad's transformation rings reappeared.
"They-they're regaining- control. I can't- keep them down- longer." Death wheezed out, squeezing his eyes shut.
The transformation rings seemed to be stationary, merely hovering mid-torso on both hybrids, until it became obvious that Danny and Vlad were determined to wake up and the rings began to slowly inch apart, despite Death's best efforts to close the gap again.
"Why are they fighting so much all of the sudden? Just before they looked fine!" Dora questioned again as Frostbite racked his brain for ideas. Death wheezed out another answer.
"Realized- wasn't really- unconscious. Knew it was- forced." Death told her.
'So Sir Phantom and Plasmius realized that they weren't unconscious and had been forced into a state of slumber, and are now trying to escape?' Dora thought to herself, before sighing. 'Just another day in Phantom City I guess.'
Then two figures materialized between Dora and Death, revealing themselves to be Ember and Danielle, who were both confused for a moment before they say Danny and Vlad trying to transform back into their ghost halves.
"What's going on?" Ember asked worriedly to Dora while Dani was busy glancing over at Death, who looked like he was in serious pain.
"Sir Phantom and Plasmius were forced unconscious by Reaper. But now they realized it wasn't a natural slumber and are attempting to wake up, which is bad, so Reaper is trying to keep them down. It's not working though." Dora explained hurriedly.
"Is that why they're stuck with their rings?" Danielle asked curiously, pointing at the two. The two's rings were still there, except further apart than the last time Dora looked.
"Yes, they're attempting to change back but Death can't let them. We don't have a place to hold Plasmius while he's still- well-" Dora started, motioning to the eldest halfa.
Ember face-palmed.
"Leave it to Baby-Pop to go and try to catch your number one enemy without a plan on what to do when you got him." She criticized the Phantom-teen, whose arm twitched straight out, as if going for a punch.
By now the rings were at both halfas shoulders and knees, giving them their ghost forms torsos but human feet and heads. Death was still trying to force the rings back together but by now it seemed pretty futile to even try. It wasn't helping any and it was only hurting Death.
"Why can't you just let Danny wake up so he'll deal with Vlad?" Ember asked, looking at her guitar as if the solution would come from there. Death sputtered an answer.
"Activated together- ends together." He replied, barely even glancing in the rocker's direction.
At that moment Skulker and Technus came into the room, Technus announcing something that nobody caught, because that was the final straw for Death's mind.
The scythe-wielding councilmen let out a cry of anguish as he collapsed onto the floor, unconscious himself, as what everybody had been dreading happening happened.
Vlad's transformation rings quickly ran the little remainder of his body they had left, only his shoes and hair to go, and the newly transformed ghost hovered in place, grinning evilly at Danny.
Danny's transformation rings, too, spared no time in finishing their job and covered Danny's shoes and the top of his raven hair with their bright light. Now completely transformed, Phantom glared at Plasmius.
It was as if they hadn't even left the portal room, really. It seemed they hadn't even noticed the other members of the room and Frostbite was only a few steps from being between them again. He didn't even know what happened. It was as if the transformation rings forced him out of the way!
"Plasmius." Danny acknowledged.
"Phantom." Vlad acknowledged back.
That was all that was said before all hell broke loose.
LINEBREAK
"Everybody calm down!" Sam yelled, but her efforts were in vain.
The few remaining 'outsiders' in the 'Zone were still freaking out over what they just saw. Dash, Paulina and Star were yelling loudly at one another, Lancer was spouting out book titles a mile-a-minute and Maddie was hyperventilating while Jack tried to calm her down.
"It's okay, it's okay!" Tucker shouted after Sam did.
"It's no big deal!" Valerie followed the pattern.
It did little to calm the nerves of the group, however, who were definitely not calm nor thought of this as no big deal.
Dash, Paulina and Star were completely focused on Danny's transformation.
Dash liked to think he was used to weird, living in Amity Park and all that. He was used to ghost attacks and used to evil threatening the town and used to a ghost protecting the town and he even went as far as having said ghost as his role-model/hero to look up to. But no way in a million years did he think that the kid he'd been wailing on every day for two years and the guy he'd been praising everyday for two years were the same person.
Paulina was so confused. Fenton liked her. But she liked Phantom. But Phantom didn't like her, or so it seemed. But Fenton was Phantom and Phantom was Fenton. So, who liked her? Did neither of them like her? Did both of the like her? Who did she like now anyway? Sure Phantom was great, but Phantom was Fenton. And it'd be easier to legally marry Fenton. Hmm decisions, decisions.
Star couldn't make proper words anymore. How did that even happen? Did Fenton and Phantom just… merge one day? Or were they always together? But then why would Phantom only have appeared a few years ago? Unless they've been sharing a body, maybe. But then who was it that she went to school with all these years, then? Both of them? But then that meant they were both saving the town, which couldn't be right. Fenton wasn't a hero. Fenton was Fenton. Non-heroic, plain ordinary, wimpy Fenton. Right?
Danny Fenton, Danny Phantom. Danny Phantom, Danny Fenton. Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton.
It was like a mantra repeating in their heads, as if refusing to let them forget it. Like it was telling them how stupid they were for not putting this together sooner. Like they should've known by know and how obvious it was. So it just kept repeating.
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom.
Lancer, however, was having more of a 'connect the dots' moment.
This explained so much of Danny Fenton's weird behavior. All those times in class he was passed out on his desk? He was awake at four a.m. fighting some evil ghost. All those missed homework assignments? He was out saving the town. All those cuts and bruises that seemed to appear, and disappear too, out of nowhere? He got them in a ghost fight! Lancer always knew those bruises were too frequent and too numerous to have come from a simply bully, like Dash. It even explains why Danny would seemingly disappear before a ghost fight! It wasn't out of fear; it was because he had to go stop it.
Lancer always knew there was something weird going on in Danny's life. He never doubted for a minute that the boy was just as smart as his sister. He'd heard from Danny's previous teachers he was always one of their best students, always asking questions and always interested. The teacher knew it wasn't just his class Danny started slipping in, either.
The other teachers had similar problems. Danny would fall asleep a lot, be late to class, not handing in homework, taking really long bathroom breaks and sometimes not even show up at all.
Hell, this even explained away some of Phantom's weird behavior. Such as how he knew Lancer's name along with the students, why Phantom and other ghosts were often sighted at the school or why Phantom seemed to always disappear into thin air a little too quick, even for a ghost.
And their own mayor, too! He was the very same ghost seen fighting Phantom on many occasions throughout the town. Mayor Masters was a ghost too, and he seemed nowhere near as friendly as Danny did in his ghost form.
Sure this cleared up a lot of questions, but it also added an abundance of other new questions.
How long had Mr. Masters been a ghost, and Danny for that matter? What caused them to become ghosts? Surely they hadn't always been that way, right? Did they still have control over their bodies in their ghost forms?
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom.
Maddie had so many questions going through her head at that moment.
How long had Danny been Phantom? Or had Phantom been Danny? She wasn't sure, but she wanted to be. And Vlad! She knew that he'd been creepy since she and Danny ran into him on their trip to the Florida- err, the Rockies, really since that was where they ended up, but not to this extent!
Phantom and Plasmius-. Danny and Vlad had been talking about significant others and true loves, and Vlad had named her birthday! That was a new kind of creepy! She hardly spoke to the man after the mountains incident, why was he so hung up on her?
Was it even Vlad obsessing? It might have been the ghost! She wasn't sure they were still Danny and Vlad right now. She wanted to believe they were, but everything she'd come to learn about ghosts' was-.
Proved wrong on this field trip, she realized suddenly.
They could still be Danny and Vlad. This didn't make them evil. She'd realized earlier that Phantom wasn't evil, why was she suddenly so anxious to prove it again? If Danny wasn't evil, Vlad shouldn't be either. Right?
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom.
"Nerpuslam Jalivknart!" Sam suddenly chanted, her eyes glowing light purple again.
The purple mist returned and swirled around over everyone's heads. Sure enough, everyone quieted down like magic. They all stared increduously at Sam, Tucker and Valerie who looked fed up with the mayhem.
"Easy people! Calm down! We know its a lot to take in but I'm sure if you give us your questions we'll be able to answer them!" Sam yelled at them. They nodded eventually.
Before Sam released them from their quiet, there was a 'pop' from somewhere and the familiar sounds of Ecto-rays being fired. The group of people all turned their attention to the air and were astounded.
Phantom and Plasmius were at it again, despite passing out minutes before.
Plasmius shot an Ecto-blast at Phantom, who erected a shield to block it. Plasmius predicted the move and moved in, right as the shield came down, and punched Phantom's gut with an Ecto-enfused fist. The older halfa continued by shooting another blast at close-range but Phantom leg-swept him, tripping him in mid-air.
Phantom kneed Plasmius' chest and sent him downward, but Plasmius wouldn't let himself gain momentum and twisted around to kick Phantom's out-stretched arm that was charging an Ecto-blast. Phantom's arm fired early and off-corse, hitting the ceiling instead, and the recoil forcing him downward.
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton.
Plasmius saw this and shot forward, hoping to get the upperhand again, but Phantom sommersaulted forward and out of the way before shooting an Ecto-beam at Plasmius' back. Plasmius again turned in mid-air, this time only to let Phantom's fist collide with his face. Plasmius recovered still and fired an Ecto-beam upwards, as he was slightly lower than his opponent in the air, and sent Phantom's back colliding with the ceiling above them.
Phantom saw Plasmius charging upward next and waved his arm out in front of him, sending an Ecto-shockwave that threw Plasmius back down. Phantom tried to fire another Ecto-beam but Plasmius beat him to it and fired his own first, leading to a collision between the green and pink Ecto-blasts.
Plasmius was winning since it was fired first but Phantom was holding it off just fine, although Plasmius' was closer to him than his was to Plasmius. Plasmius suddenly dropped the Ecto-blast attack and flew around Phantom's when it came to hit him and followed by sending his own Ecto-waves at Phantom, who tried hopelessly to block it with his arms.
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton.
Phantom pushed off the wall he'd just been slammed into and fired at Plasmius as the elder halfa charged him. Plasmius must not have seen it coming because he was hit square in the face and thrown at the opposite wall, only to phase through it at the last second.
Phantom glared at the opposing wall before taking off at it and flying through it also, following his enemies movements and leaving the humans in the room dumbstruck.
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton.
"Umm. Any questions?" Tucker asked finally. They all began trying to talk but couldn't, for Sam never released her spell. Thankfully.
Valerie sighed.
"If she lets you go will you all take turns and not yell anymore? We can only do this is you'll be civilized." She offered. The others silently nodded, and Sam reluctantly allowed them to speak again.
"How long has Fenton been Phantom?" Dash asked eagerly.
Fenton, Phantom.
"Ever since Phantom first showed up. Danny wasn't always Phantom, but Phantom was always Danny. Understand?" Tucker attempted to explain. Although confused, they nodded.
Phantom, Fenton.
It was Maddie who asked what was all on their minds.
"How did it happen? What happened to my baby?" Maddie nearly yelled. Sam scowled, but answered anyway.
Fenton, Phantom.
"Two years ago, when you build the portal. We told you Danny only got a shock from it but the truth is, he was inside of it when it turned on. That's when he got his powers." Sam informed them sadly. She didn't really like talking about it.
Phantom, Fenton.
"How could you make us be quiet like that? It was like, magic or something." Paulina asked Sam angrily, just realizing what happened. Sam's eyes narrowed.
"I'm a sorceress. No, I wasn't always one. It's just a side effect of staying in the Ghost Zone for so long. I'm not entirely sure how I do it but Danny and Danielle say it's my subconcious tapping into the quantum energy fields." Sam explained awkwardly. "Danny tells it better." Paulina wrinkled her nose.
"So you're a witch? I always had my suspicions." She japped at the Goth girl, who growled.
"I'm not a witch, I'm a sorceress. It's completely different." Sam insisted. Tucker put a hand on her shoulder to calm her. It did little at first but she let out a sigh after a few moments.
"It's fine. She doesn't know any better." Tucker told her. She huffed at first but nodded silently after, showing she understood.
"That other girl," Star started. "If she's Phantom's daughter, is she Fenton's daughter too?"
Tucker and Sam chuckled nervously, Valerie whistled innocently and Jack laughed loudly.
"We're gonna be the best grandparents, aren't we Mads?" Jack boomed to his wife.
First Maddie looked outraged, but then remembered her own admission that Phantom wasn't evil. Why was it different now that Danny was involved? Or was she just angry at herself that she didn't know until now and was taking it out on her son? Whatever it was, Maddie knew she had to calm down. She wanted to question the kids about Vlad too, but Danny was her first priority.
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton.
"Yes Jack, we sure will." She said. Yes, she thought, she could do this.
"Uncle Tuck, Aunt Sam! Are you guys okay?" Danielle's voice cried as she popped into view in front of them before taking them into a hug.
"Dani, easy. We're fine." Tucker assured her.
"Is this about Danny and Vlad fighting?" Sam asked. Danielle nodded.
"They're fighting completely different this time. Like nothing else is there." Danielle told them. Ember, Kitty and Johnny phased through the floor next, next to Valerie.
"It's just natural, kid. Your pops and Vlad know this fight is gonna decide the fate of the city. If your pops were to lose here, Plasmius could easily take over the city if he wanted to. But if Plasmius lost, he'd have no choice but to leave." Johnny explained easily.
Danielle switched from hugging Tucker and Sam to Ember, who tried to comfort the little Phantom.
"Why is that?" Maddie questioned. She couldn't help it, it sounded like a culture thing.
"That's just how it is. Danny's the King and Phantom City is his lair, so Vlad fighting Danny here is seen as a fight for the kingship over the Ghost Zone. It's just like when Danny fought Pariah Dark in his castle, that's why Danny got the crown; because he defeated Pariah in his own lair. The loser is never able to challenge for the crown again." Kitty explained. "And it includes the lair, like most other official duels."
"That sounds official." Dash muttered.
"Do all 'duels' result in the loser giving up their lair?" Star asked, worried about Phantom losing.
"All duels involving the king in his own lair put the lair at risk. If Danny wasn't fighting in Phantom City, it wouldn't be a problem. For other ghosts, its not usually a problem unless stated before the duel begins." Kitty replied easily.
Next everyone in the portal room was shaken a shockwave traveling through the palace from outside. It threw everyone down to the ground the second it struck, leaving lots of complaints.
"Dani, are you okay?" Ember asked, yanking the poor girl off the ground as she began to look her over. Danielle rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." Danielle replied, shrugging off Ember's fussing over here. Kitty giggled.
"Wow, look like you're a regular step-mom, Em." Kitty quipped. Ember blushed but didn't reply.
"Tuck, better get to the control room." Sam said, standing up. Tucker nodded as Johnny helped him stand up by the elbow.
"Let's go, nerd, hustle!" Johnny pushed as the two phased through the wall.
The others stood up shakenly, confused as to where Johnny and Tucker went.
"What's the control room?" Dash asked, holding his head as he stood up.
"Where we can see what's going on while Danny fights without being there." Sam told them.
Their faces lit up.
"No, you can't see it."
They dimmed.
"Why not? Now that we know everything, we should, like, get to see everything we couldn't before." Paulina argued. Sam growled again.
"Don't say you know everything that goes on, because you don't. You don't know the half of what goes on just because you know who Danny is." She said strongly.
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton. Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton.
There was a tense silence in the air, Sam and Kitty in a glaring match with the A-List and Ember glaring subtly at Maddie, who was giving her the evil-eye. Finally, Lancer broke the silence.
"Ms. Manson, I am under the impression that there are sub-kingdoms of sorts in this 'Ghost Zone', yes?" He asked. Sam nodded, a little suprised.
"Yeah. How'd you know that?" Sam replied, unsure. Lancer smiled.
"You didn't think I'd come out of that museum without learning anything, did you?" He told her knowingly. "I just asked because that means Daniel's title, and presumably everyone elses, are wrong."
Fenton, Phantom. Phantom, Fenton.
Sam looked pretty confused, along with Kitty and Ember.
"What makes you say that?" Ember asked.
"Well I assume that the sub-kingdoms are just that, subs, and are all ruled by Daniel, right?" Lancer asked. They nodded. "Then a more appropriate term for him would be 'High King', just as Danielle should be called 'Grand Princess' to show that they are above the other Kings and Princesses in the Ghost Zone."
"What about me and Tucker? I'm a Grand Duchess and Tucker's a Grand Duke, what would we be?" Sam asked. Lancer hummed in thought for a moment before he came to his conclusion.
"I assume that means all the other Dukes and Duchesses in the Ghost Zone are carrying the title of 'grand'?" Sam nodded. "Then you two should be addressed as 'Alpha Grand Duke' and 'Alpha Grand Duchess'."
Sam nodded in understanding.
"Thanks Mr. Lancer, I'll tell Jazz soon and she can officially change the names." Sam said. Maddie looked at Sam like she was nuts.
"Why would Jazz be able to do that?" She asked, very confused. Kitty answered again.
"Because she's Danny's Royal Advisor, a.k.a. the person who keeps his ass out of trouble and deals with most of the official documents in addition to being a Princess- er, Grand Princess now I guess." Kitty told them.
There was another silence upon the group and Sam went to break it by asking Valerie a question, but was astounded to see that Valerie, along with Ember and Danielle, were gone.
"Where'd they go?" Sam asked, confused.
"More importantly how'd they get away with leaving us here?" Kitty grumbled next.
LINEBREAK
"Come on kid, chin up. Don't worry about your old man, he can take care of himself just fine." Ember tried to comfort Danielle.
It wasn't doing much good, since Ember was just as scared for Danny's safety as Dani was, despite knowing perfectly well Danny would be fine. Hopefully.
It had come out of nowhere, really. One minute Dani was fine and the next she was asking Ember if she thought her father was okay, if he'd come back or they'd have to leave Phantom City.
"Don't think about it right now, Dani. Think about something else." Valerie, who had wanted to get out of the portal room, advised.
"Like what." Dani mumbled. Valerie thought for a minute before she got a sly smile on her face.
"Tell me about Melody and Vanellope. Is Melody a half-mermaid, or is that just how all mermaids look?" Valerie told her. The girls face brightened up instantly.
"Actually, she prefers the term "mer-human" but yeah, she's half-human and half-mermaid. But they're my best friends in the world! In all the worlds! It's been forever since we all hung out together but their coming to stay with me for a whole month soon!" Dani yelled, getting excited at the mere thought.
"Wow a whole month? When? Next month?" Valerie asked, smiling. Dani pouted.
"I wish it was next month. I have to wait two whole months until July for them to come! I already asked Clockwork if he could speed through May and June for me, but all he told me was 'that would be cheating'. Stupid stopwatch." Dani ranted, muttering the last part to herself.
Valerie and Ember chuckled a little at the girls enthusiasm. Ember ruffled Dani's hair with a smirk.
"May will be over before you know it, kid. Don't worry about it." She encouraged. Dani smiled weakly.
"Yeah, I guess so." She said, before brightening up. "Until then I guess we'll have to settle for watching daddy beat the Ectoplasm out of Plasmius." Dani said before flying through the ceiling.
Ember sighed, grabbed Valerie's wrist and followed the girl.
LINEBREAK
"Tucker, how's it looking over there?" Jazz asked from her desk.
"The same as it looks over there, Jazz." Tucker replied, standing over the table.
The table Tucker was standing at was no ordinary table. It was the Ectowave-sonar that they used to see what was going on during any of Danny's fights from the Control Room right there in Phantom City. It displayed little holographic images of the live events that were happening outside from a microchip on Danny's suit.
They also had chips on Danielle and Sam's Chaos 2.0 armor but neither were active in the fight at the moment so they weren't switched on.
On Jazz's computer screen was an layout map of Phantom City seen from above with dots and lines all over, but three things currently stood out. The first was the large 'DP' insignia, which wasn't moving since it was representing the Palace on the map.
The other two were dots, which were moving. One was green, that was Danny, and the other was red, that was Vlad, and they were both constantly colliding and moving around the city. Although they were moving further from the castle, so that was good.
"It looks like they're pretty evenly matched." Tucker commented, watching Danny and Vlad duel with Ectoplasmic ghost rays. Jazz nodded.
"This could go on for a while."
LINEBREAK
Danny was thrown into yet another building, but he recovered fast enough to phase through the wall behind him before Vlad punched him again. Then Danny's fist, lit up with Ecto-energy came from the wall and hit Vlad in the chest.
Vlad didn't go as far as Danny hoped and grabbed his wrist, yanking him through the wall with such force Danny barely had time to turn intangible to avoid that pain. But it did little to free himself from Vlad's grasp as the older hybrid used his other hand to punch Danny with another Ecto-punch, like Danny had just done to him.
Danny growled and Ecto-kicked Vlad away from him before shooting another Ecto-beam at his enemy, who reflected it away with a simple shield. Danny didn't let up, however, and shot forward at Vlad, ready to punch the older hybrid into next week.
But Vlad teleported away at the last minute, reappeared behind him to drive his boot into the younger hybrid's head and sent him spirling downwards. Danny wouldn't let it end as he send some of his cryokinetic blast at Vlad, who had a hard time trying to dodge.
Despite his best efforts, Vlad was hit with a good deal of Danny's attacks even at the teen fell from the sky. Danny had managed to steady himself before he collided with the ground and was now floating again, glaring at Vlad.
Danny shot another of his ice attacks at Vlad from both hands. Vlad tried to counter it with his own Ectoplasmic blast but the blast was to close to the older halfa, who was send back by the force of the collision.
It was then that Danny noticed Danielle, Ember and Valerie were watchig from a rooftop. His eyes widened, before they narrowed. He blasted another shot in the direction Vlad fell in before he rocketed over to them.
They all seemed happy about his presence.
"What are you guys doing here? It is way to dangerous for any of you." Danny said, staring pointedly at all three girls.
"Danny, we can help." Valerie insisted. Danny shook his head.
"No, you can't. It's against the rules of a battle for the crown, it has to be a one-on-one fight, no third parties allowed. If you help Vlad could win on a technicality." Danny tod them, desperate to get them to leave.
"I see someone's been listening to their big sister when she goes over the rules." Vlad taunted as he floated up, powering an attack in his hand. Danny glared.
"Hen na hito desu nee." Danielle muttered, accidentally slipping into Japanese.
"Danielle, you did it again." Ember said, nudging the girl.
Dani chuckled embarrassed. Valerie looked between Ember and Danny, confused, until Ember answered the unasked question.
"Dani can speak tweleve languages. It came from traveling around the world to so many diffrent contries." Ember told her. Vlad 'tsked'.
"Very impressive, Danielle. Speaking twelve languages is no easy feat. Tell me, how do you do it with the mind of a small child?" Vlad taunted once again.
"I do NOT have the mind of a small child!" Dani denied. Vlad smiled evilly.
"Are you sure about that? Ask your 'father' or even Ms. McLain about that-" Vlad started, but was cut off by Danny sending twin Ecto-blasts at his chest.
"Get back inside. I'll handle him." Danny said determinedly.
He watched them sink through the roof of the building they were on before he turned back to Vlad, only to have the older hybrid's gloved hand collide with the side of Danny's head.
Danny glared. Vlad glared back.
The Battle of Phantom City was nearly decided.
Aaaand scene! Well? How was it?
Sorry I haven't updated in a while guys but school is hard. This is a major year for me and I have to stay on top of things and not only that, it's a lot harder than my previous years of school so please be patient with me, I don't intend to drop this story or anymore of my stories.
So, to recap we have some Danny vs. Vlad action, seeing the Ectowave-sonar in action for the first time (granted it was briefly), we learn that Dani is expecting company in July and Vlad poking at Dani's mental age.
Which means next will be the result of "The Battle of Phantom City", Danny telling the class the whole story behind his and Vlad's antagonistic relationship and Danielle's origins are explained to Maddie.
Again, so sorry about the slow updates but I'm sure you guys know how it feels to have schoolwork to do and not want to do it, right?
Anyway, until next time! As always remember to review!
