Working Hard

Cap was secretly a great carpenter. He love creating things out of a simple piece of wood. Seeing the beauty and possibilities in the most ordinary things. He was struggling to find a make up gift for Maria.

She was very depressed after her pa died and knowing the killers got away with it. She was even spiteful towards Wall Hatfield. Then on a turkey hunt that day he found the perfect piece of oak wood. Cap often saw Maria under the far tree on the land, Learning her letters for hours. He now planned on making her a long swing. The branches where thick and he could give her a long comfortable secret spot.

When everyone was sleeping at night he went to work. Having a task to do gave him time to clear his mind of all the drama happening. Life was getting harder for the Hatfield's brace of the the McCoy. He wasn't dumb he knew his Pa hard a hand in this feud. Both these family were guilty f something, but now things jut keep adding up on by ends.

Bill staton was a bad father by Maria missed none the less. She would lay in bed and remember the times they had joy together. On his sober day he would be nice to her. Talk to her told her stories of war and her mama. But best of all be would play her His fiddle. He made beautiful-. He would never use his small talent when he drank saying "God don't need to see his talent be swaddled in a bar. This is a gift and I will never spit on it" he got real bad when gram died. His saBor Sunday's stopped, so did the lessons he gave her.

The one things she was proud of was take. Away. One day he just sold the fiddle altogether. It broke her heart. To a McCoy none the the less. She cried for days over the lose. He got sick of hearing it and gave her a lashing she would never forget.

Cap went the extra mile and decided to get the bow he saw her eying at the General store. Then he went to his mama asking if she could put a basket of food together. She caught him working late one night in the swing. He told his mama how he felt bad about the jest they play on her birthday and wanted to make it up. Lacivy was proud of her son. William was learning how to be a true gentleman. Even with all this childish fighting going on. " Ma would you mind if I take for a few hours today?"She smiled knowingly "not at all, she does too much anyhow. I assume you know how to respect a girl when you don't got a chaperone?" "Yes ma'am, beside we'll just be at the far tree line"

Maria was late waking up. Sleep takes awhile to take hold of her now. The thought of not going home with her pa anymore hurt and was always running in her head. Hoping even time she woke it was a bad dream. Her old life wasn't great but it was all she really knew. Lavicy is more of a friend then mother towards her. Which she was grateful. She was a mother that rules with an iron Fist. She learned everything from her and Maria was blessed to be welcomed here.

The shawl she received on her birthday has became very useful these last few mornings. Autumn was here and Maria was happy to see the summer heat going.
