(Hallao my kitties~ *dodges claws* Ok I'm sorry I've been neglecting you all for a bit. I blame school ^^" and the fact that I'm still working on my Beast Of Beasts story on Fictionpress. Aaaaand been getting new ideas for other stories. So, there's that. ^_^" Anyway, Skyclan finally has pity on Whitethunder and thinks he should get one last chance. Enjoy~)
Whispers surrounded the area, misty eyes looked at one another as they discussed a serious topic. One she cat snarled at them all, her silver claws gleaming as she unsheathed them. "You will NOT help him! I forbid it!"
"And why shouldn't we, Silverclaw? He obviously regrets his mistakes."
Silverclaw narrowed her eyes, turning away from the other she cat in favor of pacing. Besides, it was better to pace and hold in your anger than taking it out on fallen clan cats. She didn't want to go to the Place Of No Stars after all. A cream colored she cat padded over to her, green eyes shining with sympathy. "I know you don't like it Silverclaw, but Dapplefur has a point, and she is the law when it comes to mates. Your son has already cursed him with a name that will never leave him and Skyclan has already punished him. He is sorrowful and repentant. Isn't that enough?" Silverclaw thought over what her friend said, but just could come to terms with it. She shook her head, turning away from the female as she did.
"I can't, Snowlight. He didn't follow them before-"
"And that is not completely his fault. Yes he should've heard her out but any tom would jump to conclusions after seeing their mate crossing over a board with another cat from the clans, sibling or not."
"But he didn't see her, Bloodclaw did!" Silverclaw snapped as she rounded on the female. Snowlight sighed and shook her head. Dapplefur padded over to the females then, golden eyes gleaming with wisdom. "So, since Whitethunder doesn't deserve another chance, that means you dont either."
"What?" Silverclaw mewed in surprise. Dapplefur narrowed her eyes as an eerie silence fell over them.
All the Skyclan cats watched, Snowlight moving back to disappear in the crowd. Four other figures appeared, eyes stuck on Silverclaw. Out of the four, a cream collored she cat padded closer to Silverclaw, blue eyes narrowing dangerously. "Dapplefur has a point."
Silverclaw fought not to cower under her founder's gaze and to keep her voice strong. She failed, however, to hide the slight tremble. "What are you talking about?"
"You know what we talk about, Silverclaw. Your little thing with Sun's warrior," Moon mewed, eyes gleaming in amusement. Soon though, they darkened. "If your own teammate doesnt deserve a second chance, then neither does you. He is needed to complete this prophecy."
"If you do not let this happen, all of the clans will perish," Dark finished sagely. Sand and Sun nodded their heads in agreement.
Silverclaw lowered her own. Say yes and the clans will live, but her daughter will suffer from her kit murdering mate. Say no and her daughter will be possibly safe from another broken heart, but the clans, even her, will die. Silverclaw looked back at Dapplefur, eyes dark with anger. "Fine, give the kit killer another chance. But you listen to me Dapplefur. If he hurts her again I wont hesitate to kill him, even if it means going to the Place Of No Stars." And with that Silverclaw turned and trotted away, hackles raised. Moon purred in amusement.
"I love my warriors. They have grown so defensive and blood thirsty."
"Be glad you aren't 'there' for your treachery," Dark growled. Moon glared at her.
"It isn't just my fault. I may have started it, but you were idiots to follow."
"Be calm my friends," Sun muttered, placing his tail on Moon's flank. The she cat looked away, muttering angrily. "We have to stop our clans from killing themselves. Killing each other now won't help them." Sun turned to the other Sklyclan cats, both his and his three friends' warriors. "We leave the rest to you. Make wise decisions. We will not be able to help you, being that we will be in different skies." The fallen warriors yowled their agreement and their goodbyes. With that the four founders left, disapearing in a cloud of stars. Dapplefur looked down though the clouds, then closed her eyes as she blew into the earth below.
"Autumnspot..."
~ooo~
Autumnspot snarled at Whitethunder when the white tom tried to make his way over to him. He then ran ahead of the group. Mudfur shook her head and Longclaw gave a dry chuckle. "Well well, he's still mad. After a half moon too. You've really done it Whitethunder." She looked sideways, sides still quivering nervously. A prophecy, the clans being in danger, a war that would wipe them all out, and Cherryblossom was apart of it? That's was too much.
Mudfur rested her tail on the rusty cat's shoulder. "Be at peace kit. You are a warrior, not a mouse." Longclaw shot a glare at Mudfur, making the brown Sandclan warrior go into laughing hysterics. Autumnspot groaned loudly ahead of them.
"You made her laugh AGAIN?!"
"It wasn't my fault this time," Longclaw mewed helplessly. "You know she laughs at EVERYTHING!" Autumnspot grumbled something up ahead, but kept it to his self.
Whitethunder listened to everything with a dull mind. Kittosatsujin played through his mind over and over again, flashbacks of Cherryblossom's betrayed look on her face repeatedly occupying his mind. She was trying to help the clans and he didn't want to listen. "You chose power and the clan over her, your mate!" Autumnspot's words crushed at his heart. He had been too power hungry. Blinded by becoming rīdā. Wanting the clans approval, not hers. He hung his head and whimpered.
Mudfur stopped laughing and instantly padded over to the sulking deputy. "Be quiet you. What happened happened. You can't change it so tom up."
"But, it happened because of me. I killed my kits, turned away my mate. She undoubtedly hates me."
"Yea, maybe she does," Whitethunder whined pitifully, causing Mudfur to wince before she continued on. "But that doesn't mean you can't amend for your wrongs."
"And how can I fix that Mudfur? A queen cares more about her kits than her clan, and I killed two of them! My own blood! How in Skyclan's name am I suppose to fix that?!" Autumnspot glared back at them before snorting and looking ahead. The killer intent in his eyes made him shiver. 'He would've made a perfect Moonclan cat. Those death vibes are clearly inherited from Silverclaw.'
Mudfur smiled at him, making Whitethunder's insides flip nervously. What did the crazy she cat know? What was she thinking? And her eyes had that starry gaze in them again. "Right your wrongs." Riverheart's warning floated through his head, making him shiver. He couldn't even if he could. Cherryblossom was too far away and the track were getting dull. The thought of loosing the tracks all together made him cold inside. He had to find her!
They followed Autumnspot through some more wood and trees, crawled under more bushes and ran through marshy areas. All of a sudden the humid jungle opened up to a meadow. Lush grasses, tall pine trees and it was teeming with with wildlife and prey. Whitethunder's heart constricted. Cherryblossom loved meadows. He remembered sneaking over Sunclan borders with her just to play in them. "She did love meadows." Autumnspot's voice came out of nowhere, cold but sad. Whitethunder's ears dropped and he quickly moved away from Autumnspot. He could feel the murderous glare burning at his fur. Oh yea, definitely a gene from Silverclaw.
He walked along the edges of the woods, relishing in the at home feeling it brought. This definitely would have been a place Cherryblossom would rest. Whitethunder gazed longingly at the trees. If everything didn't happen the way it did, he would still have his mate and all three of his kits, still be with his clan and leading them through battle, still would've had that mange of a father doing his bidding. His three kits would grow up being great warriors and he would be rīdā, his son being deputy. It would've been perfect.
"Hey! We are resting for a while, don't wander too far," Longclaw's ordered. Whitethunder wanted to snap at her for ordering him around when it was he who was leading, but he waved it away with a flick of his bushy tail. He didn't deserve to lead. He mentally blocked out then part where Autumnspot wanted him to wander and get eaten by a fox. If he did run into a fox then it would be sporting grave wounds before it killed him. He'd make sure of that.
Whitethunder walked inside of the forest, relaxing when he was concealed within the trees. How homely this is, walking in these woods. He felt confident, as if he knew the territory inside and out, never minding that it was in a completely different location. He could definitely get use to this.
He passed by a bush and stopped to give it a big sniff. He yowled loudly and backed away, eyes wide. No way. He sniffed the bush again, more alert and eager. The sent was very very old, but the fur bits in it held on to just enough of it. Cherryblossom. She was here. Whitethunder gave another yowl, this one joyous. He went around to more trees and bushes, sniffing of any sign of his mate. He had found dusky blue and white clumps of fur here and there, but they mingled with Cherryblossom's scent also. His tail lashed happily. They had been following the right trail after all. 'Thank Skyclan for extra sharp senses,' Whitethunder thought.
He turned around at the sound of paw steps, greeted with two shocked she cats and a very annoyed tom. "What is wrong," Autumnspot growled, casting sharp green eyes around the area. Whitethunder shot past him, over to the bush he had first sniffed. "Over here over here!" Whitethunder switched from paw to paw as he said this, his excitement spilling from his fur, making his eyes shine happily. This made Autumnspot snarl.
"Are you a kit now?! Stop bouncing around!"
Whitethunder ran over to him with narrowed eyes and growled. "Go. Sniff. The bush," Whitethunder's voice was demanding for Autumspot to obey, which the stubborn tom didn't.
"Make me," Autumnspot snarled back, fur bristling. Whitethunder quickly grabbed Autumnspot by the scruff of his neck and dragged him towards the bush. Autumnspot squirmed and clawed, but couldn't get to him. Mudfur watched in amusement while Longclaw watched in shock. 'What is up with these two,' Longclaw thought.
Whitethunder dumped Autumnspot in front of the bush, pushing his nose onto it with his paw. "Now sniff!" Whitethunder ordered. Autumnspot squirmed and flailed, the exertion making him take deep breaths. He froze and sniffed again. Whitethunder let him go, running around in circles. "Do you smell her? Do you?"
"I do," Autumnspot purred, sniffing the bush more. His sister had been here, his lost sister. Autumnspot felt something cold flow through his body and he shivered. Star dust flowed through his vision and he suddenly felt really dizzy and temporarily blacked out, though the others didn't notice.
Longclaw growled. "Hey! You're a deputy, not a kit! Calm down!" Whitethunder growled. He really didn't like being referred to as a kit.
"We have to go."
"What? Now?! We just got here!"
"Yes Longclaw, now. We've got a scent on Cherryblossom. The scent is already stale, and if we don't act quick enough we will lose it."
Mudfur whined. "But my old bones can't take it!"
Both cats gave Mudfur incredulous looks. "Now you're old," they meowed simultaneously. Mudfur gave a sheepish grin.
Autumnspot staggered over to them, tail curled at the tip and eyes slightly glazed. He looked around slowly, as if seeing something happen. Mudfur padded over to him. "Autumnspot? What do you see?" Whitethunder frowned.
"What do you mean what does he see?"
Longclaw waved her tail in Autumnspot's face. "What's wrong with him?" Autumnspot turned into a full circle before his eyes cleared. He blinked rapidly and shook his head, staggering some more.
"I-uh..."
Whitethunder growled. "What?!"
Autumnspot looked at Whitethunder. He could've sworn he was at the bushes not too long ago. He frowned when he saw paw prints on the ground, something urging him to go. He looked at Whitethunder, then past him. Whispers tickled his ear, a light wind passing over him. A trail? More whispers came, tugging him into the direction of the paw prints. "Wow, when did it get windy?" Longclaw asked. Autumnspot didn't here her though, because his fur was tingling in excitement. His sister's trail! This was her trail! He took off running, tail lashing. "I see the trail! Its really faint, but I see it!"
"Trail of what," Whitethunder yowled as he followed the tom. Longclaw and Mudfur ran after them, furs prickling with excitement and confusion. Whitethunder growled in frustration. Why were Sunclan cats so fast? He spotted the orange tom standing on a hill, tail twitching.
"They went this way. I can see it!"
Whitethunder narrowed his eyes. What was he talking about? "You are delusional."
Autumnspot shook his head. "No I can actually see it! Skyclan has given me the Sight! I can see where their paws were on the ground! Cherryblossom was standing right where you are now!"
Whitethunder lifted his paws and peered at the ground. He couldn't see anything. Longclaw and Mudfur caught up, frowns on their faces. "Autumnspot says he can see their paw prints. He says Skyclan has given him the Sight." Mudfur's face lighted in understanding, while Longclaw's darkened in even more confusion.
"What are you talking about?!"
Whitethunder shrugged. "I don't know."
"We are doing right. Skyclan is giving us the abilities we need to find Cherryblossom, meaning that they are halfway to their destination. It also means that the way for us is dangerous," Mudfur mewed solemnly, looking around at them. "That means from now on we will have to be very careful and work together. This could cost us our lives if we don't." She shot Whitethunder and Autumnspot hard glares. Autumnspot looked away and Whitethunder shrugged. Both toms could tolerate each other for a while longer, maybe.
"Can you still tell where they went Autumnspot?"
The orange tom nodded. "If we run through the night and rest at morning then we can catch up to them by a full day."
"Well that settles it," Whitethunder mewed as he looked at the mountains far away. Longclaw squawked in disbelief. "The whole day and night?!" Whitethunder nodded. "We have to catch up to them and help."
"But we were ordered to retrieve, not help," Mudfur mewed slyly, eyes glinting.
Whitethunder growled. "Forget what our rīdā said. We have a new mission. We find and help Cherryblossom. Only then we will return her. The clans will thank us when they find out what was really going on." Autumnspot nodded along with Mudfur, though Longclaw still looked doubtful.
"I don't like this Whitethunder. We shouldn't disobey our rīdā."
Whitethunder snarled at her, yellow eyes gleaming dangerously. "If you don't like it then leave, and quickly. Cats who don't follow me are dead weight."
Longclaw narrowed her eyes and snorted. She wasn't stupid enough to listen to him though, and she did value her life. "Fine, I'll come."
Whitethunder nodded. "Good. We need to leave now." He turned to Autumnspot. "Lead the way." Autumnspot took off running down the hill, legs an orange blur. The others were quickly behind him, following his lead. Whitethunder's heart was thundering. He had a lead, Skyclan had finally answered his call. "m going to right my wrongs," he growled to his self. And he would. That was a promise he was bent on not breaking, a promise to his mate and his kits, both dead and alive.
