(Hallao again! X3 I updated on time this time! Atleast, I think I did. So, Jayfeather spills the beans and they make a trip that does not please the clan. ^^)
Squirrelflight sighed. Its been two weeks and her kits were already restless, forget being clumsy. Flamekit had tried to walk, mewling when she fell on her side or bottom. Her brothers Gingerkit and Sunkit were the same way. She heard Bramblestar's voice ring out through the camp. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join under the Highledge for a clan meeting." So he was doing it today huh? Interesting. She quietly called for her kits as she walked out of the nursery, laying down in front of it. The three kits stumbled over to her before they settled down by her stomach and started to suckle. Squirrelflight sighed. Being a mother was tiring.
~ooo~
Bramblestar looked over his clan, eyes shining in approval. "Today, after a wait long overdue, two apprentices will become warriors." Berrynose and Poppyfrost licked both Molepaw and Cherrypaw's heads, both apprentices hissing in annoyance. Poppyfrost then nudged her daughter towards Bramblestar, pride shining in her eyes. Cherrypaw stood before Bramblestar, limbs trembling eagerly.
"I, Bramblestar, leader of Thunderclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. She has trained hard to under stand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Cherrypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do," Cherrypaw squeaked, eyes glittering as her fur itched in excitement.
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name: Cherrypaw, from this moment on you will be known as Cherrytail. StarClan honors your patience and your loyalty and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan."
Molepaw stepped towards Bramblestar then, tail high as he stared at his clan leader. Bramblestar regarded Molepaw for a moment, tail flicking in thought. He then nodded his head to his self, eyes flickering.
"I, Bramblestar, leader of Thunderclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. He has trained hard to under stand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Molepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do," Molepaw mewed, head held high and eyes gleaming with determination.
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name: Molepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Molepelt. StarClan honors your patience and your courage and we welcome you as a full warrior of Thunderclan."
Both siblings stood by each other, chests puffed out in pride as their clans chanted their names. Berrynose and Poppyfrost were the loudest, both showing how proud they were. Foxleap and Briarlight also watched with proud faces at the cats they trained.
Bramblestar touched his nose to the top of the newly made warrior's heads. "You know the rules. Tonight you sit vigil for the clan. You must not go to sleep." Both of them nodded, furs bristling eagerly.
Jayfeather padded towards Bramblestar, eyes shining in worry. "Bramblestar, a word?" Bramblestar frowned and nodded, turning to padded towards his den. Jayfeather followed after wishing Cherrytail and Molepelt congratulations. Leafpool soon followed him.
Once all of them were inside Jayfeather hurriedly told his news. "They will be here soon."
Bramblestar's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
"I mean they will be here soon, sooner than possible. We need to hurry and let the clans know so that everything will be fine. If not then Cherry will attack every cat she sees!"
"Who is Cherry? Jayfeather why will she attack everyone?" Bramblestar's pelt was standing, his tail twitching. These cats were going to attack his clan?
"Cherry is going to be very injured, I've seen it in my vision. She won't be able to defend herself of help with the clans and she will be in a panic. We have to be prepared. If not we will die before the really war actually starts!"
Leafpool stood, eyes shining and claws tearing the den floor. "Well then we have to do something about it. We can't do it on our own, because it won't be enough. We have to call for help."
Bramblestar nodded. "We need another clan's help. But who?"
"Well that depends on who our enemy is. Do you know who we are fighting against Jayfeather?" Jayfeather frowned.
"Wild cats obviously. They are fast and powerful. A full fledge attack from them will be fatal. We will have to rely on tricks, cunning and speed."
"Windclan," Leafpool said automatically. Jayfeather fixed her a cold glare. "Why Windclan?" Leafpool looked away from Jayfeather's glare, shifting from paw to paw.
"They are the quickest of us all, and I have a pretty good tactic we can use against these cats."
Jayfeather narrowed his eyes. Why was she so quick to call on Windclan? Bramblestar nodded his head. "Oh course, though its no doubt they will want something in return for this help. How soon will they be here Jayfeather?"
"In a quarter moon."
Both cats stumbled. "So soon?" Bramblestar asked, ears flattening in dismay. Jayfeather nodded.
Leafpool raised her head. "Bramblestar, allow me to come along with you when you go to Windclan."
"No, you aren't really in their good graces. I'm taking Lionblaze with me."
"He isn't in their good graces either."
"Yes, but he also intimidates them. Barely anyone can still match him in a fight, just in case they decide to attack us."
"Yes, but taking a warrior like him with you makes it seem like a threat."
Bramblestar narrowed his eyes. "I guess it does, but its best to be cautious."
"At least take a medicine cat. Softens the thought of an attack. Take Jayfeather if you choose."
Bramblestar stared down at his paws. He didn't want to risk an attack, but then again he didn't was to go unprotected. Nor did he want to provoke the cats accidentally in their own territory. "Alright, you can come, but only because I don't think Jayfeather is fit enough to travel."
"Are you serious? I'm very much fit to travel!"
"He is, which is why he are now released from bed rest."
Jayfeather growled. What was she playing at? Bramblestar padded out of his den. Leafpool glanced at Jayfeather and sighed. "Or, you can take me and Jayfeather and leave Lionblaze."
"I already told you that-"
"He needs to come for protection yes, but I am not a medicine cat anymore, I am a warrior. I'm pretty sure that after my little skirmish with their three warriors shows them what I am capable of. It also lessens the threat and there is the fact that only Jayfeather really knows about these attackers."
Bramblestar sighed. "Fine. You and Jayfeather can come with me. I'll notify Lionblaze and Squirrelflight." He turned and trotted off to the nursery.
Jayfeather hissed at Leafpool as their leader disappeared behind the nursery brambles. "What are you planning?"
"The protection of our clan," she answered calmly as she trotted towards the entrance. She sat and waited for Bramblestar, and when he appeared they both left.
~ooo~
Bramblestar was walking ahead of thehen Jayfeather spoke to Leafpool again. "What are you planning Leafpool," he whispered.
Leafpool sighed. "I already told you."
"And you also lied. Tell me the truth."
Leafpool frowned as she glanced sideways towards Jayfeather. "It wasn't completely a lie."
Jayfeather tensed when she looked away. "Its because of Crowfeather isn't it." Leafpool flattened her ears. Jayfeather snarled at her, not even noticing Bramblestar stopping to look back at him. "Still a Windclan lover aren't you? Pathetic!" He then turned and trotted pass Bramblestar, tail lashing angrily.
Leafpool shook her head as she walked on, Bramblestar by her side. "Don't worry about it. Its not because of that. I have something to ask him."
"And what is that," Bramblestar asked. Leafpool shook her head.
"That is between me and him."
Bramblestar looked her over with calculation eyes, but soon gave up with a shrug. If it was a private matter then he wouldn't make a fuss, though hopefully it didn't involve anything treacherous.
~ooo~
The trio returned to share the news with the clan, Bramblestar finally telling them what was really going on. Leafpool sighed as she watched the clan in chaos. "Why should we believe these other ancestors? How do we know they aren't helping their clans to take us over huh?!" Leafpool snapped at the Thornclaw, though she could understand him. How did they know if it was help? It could be a trap, and the dreams they were dreaming could all be fake.
"None of this is fake."
"Just because you have dreams doesn't mean they are real Jayfeather!"
"No Whitewing, I mean I actually interact with these cats."
"What do you mean Jayfeather," Brambleclaw asked.
Jayfeather's looked around at the clan, choosing his words carefully. "I mean that when I sleep I walk with the cats in real, though only the youngest can see me. We talk like any other cat does to each other and I am tasked with the duty to spot their danger before it actually gets to them. I'm keeping these cats alive."
"And you didn't tell me this? Why?"
Leafpool was surprised as well. When did this happen? "I didn't tell because Silverclaw told me not to." The confusion he felt from the other cats made him twitch in irritation. "Silverclaw was a strong and feared warrior of her clan. She knows the ways of her clan because she was the deadliest of all of them before her death."
Bramblestar nodded his head slowly. "I see. You keep doing that."
"This really us real, isn't it," Poppyfrost mewed, terror in her eyes. "Its another war...one that will destroy us for sure."
"Yes, but as long as we help these cats and keep them alive we will live in turn, which brings it all up to my plan." All of them turned towards Leafpool, who was sitting next to Bramblestar calmly. Her eyes were determined and focused, staring at all of them. A flash of hesitation was briefly seen before disappearing. "There cats chasing after out foreign allies, cats that will surely kill them because of their large sizes. When they get here we are going to fight them. If these cats are not dealt with, our last hope will die, and we will as well." The cats murmured and gave wary looks. Icecloud 's tail curled around her legs.
"But we don't know anything about these cats. How are we suppose to fight them?"
"These cats are fast, cunning, strong and quite large. We need combined strength and speed alone to get rid of them."
Jayfeather's statement caused the clan to murmur even more. Cloudtail nosed at Brightheart's scruff before padding over to cousin. "Ok, the clan is quite strong, but we need to train more on speed. I don't doubt for a second that our clan is slow, but it doesn't hurt to be extra cautious."
"We don't have apprentices at the moment. What are we going to do? Squirrelflight's kits won't suddenly grow over night!"
"We don't need apprentices, and you can train yes, for a whole week."
"A week?! That's too short! We need at least two!"
"Well we don't have that time, so there is no going around it." Bramblestar fixed them a hard stare, then took a deep breath, as if to steel his self for the effects of what he was going to say next. "So instead we have gone over to Windclan to ask for their help."
Protestant yowls filled the camp immediately, furs bristled and eyes glazed in anger. "Windclan?! You asked Windclan?! Why?!"
"Because unlike us they can chase rabbits, we can't. They were the obvious choice," Leafpool mewed blankly.
"Or maybe they wasn't. We could've trained enough using that one week. Still a Windclan lover, Leafpool?"
Leafpool froze, her eyes locked on Thornclaw. The sneer plastered on his face made Leafpool bristle. She was not a Windclan lover! The whispers and wary glances said other wise though. At the edge of her sight she could see Jayfeather tense, wary eyes casted in her direction. Great. "Unless of course you wanted us to go to Shadowclan. They would have gladly helped us in exchange for some of our land, or Riverclan, who really aren't that fast. They're best at swimming."
"Leafpool does have a point. Windclan are the fastest cats," Lionblaze muttered.
Sandstorm trotted over to Leafpool and nuzzled her daughter, purring softly. "Well then, if you say so then it is done. We will work with Windclan if we have to. Our future rests on the lives of those cats." There were displeased murmurs, some snorts and some glares, but the clan finally agreed. Thornclaw was still throwing Leafpool wary glare, as was Toadstep. Leafpool chose to ignore them in favor for her mother's approval. Let them make their assumptions, she didn't care. Her talk with Crowfeather still rung clearly into her mind. In exactly a half moon it will happen, providing the clans agree, mostly Bramblestar. Bramblestar has to agree. Why wouldn't he, right?
