So sorry about the long update again, but things were crazy at work again. Hope you all enjoy!
Patrick let out a sigh as he walked into the entrance of Quake. There wasn't any good prospects for a job out there. He was hoping that people wouldn't mind even just part time with a flexible schedule or even an on call position and he was politely declined everywhere he looked. The youngest Halliwell hoped that Prue and Piper had a better night then he was having. Soon as he walked into Quake; he realized that the place was slammed. He couldn't believe it; and he saw his poor sister Piper yelling out orders to the servers. "Excuse me," Pat grunted as a server blindly slammed against his shoulder. "Piper!" he called out. The middle Halliwell glanced around the restaurant until her eyes landed on her brother.
Soon as he was close enough, he saw how stressed out poor Piper was. "I'm gonna kill him," she growled.
"Who?" Pat asked.
"Chef Moore," she seethed, "He of the phony accents, hires me then quits to open a new place,"
"I don't see the customers complaining," Pat said.
"Well I'm a chef, not a restaurant manager. I have no clue what the hell I'm doing," she seethed. "And more great news is that I'm down a bartender!"
Before Patrick could offer to help his sister out, a friend from college approached Piper, "Hey Piper, congrats on the gig!" she exclaimed.
"Thanks," Piper said bitterly, and then lightened up when she saw the tattoo on her friend's hand. "Cool tattoo...thought it was bad to get it on the vein,"
Brittney beamed, "That's why I got it at Tahiti," she said. "I saw that my server was busy, but here is what I owe plus a tip! Gotta jet out of here,"
"Say hi to Max for me," Piper said to her friend, feeling a pang of jealousy. That was her a few months ago before she found out that her fiance was a Warlock after her and her family for being witches. She snapped herself out of her reverie as one of the waitresses was asking where a plate of food went. "Table 9," she pointed.
Pat's eyes followed where his sister was pointing and his eyes glazed over at one of the guys near the table. His ears started to ring, and like a punch to the gut a premonition hit him. He saw the guy that he had glanced at approaching his sister and buying her a drink. "Pat!" he felt his shoulder get slapped, and he was jarred out of his vision.
"Just had a premonition," he said, a grin appearing on his face.
"Seriously?" Piper groused as she pulled him aside. "I thought we weren't going to use our you know whats,"
"Maybe you and Prue agreed to do that," Patrick shot back, "it's not like I can control it," he glanced back at him, "besides you and Prue got the better ones," Before Piper could retort once more, he teased, "That guy over there is going to try and buy you-,"
"I don't want to know," Piper exclaimed, rubbing her aching temples. "What I want is to cook not run this place," she muttered. The youngest Halliwell followed his sister. "Unless you want to bart-,"
"I can do that," he said, hoping to smooth over things with his sister. She raised an eyebrow at him. "What?" he questioned.
"Last time you were a bartender, you and Roger got into a fist fight," she said with a small chuckle.
Pat rolled his eyes, "Do you see Roger here?" he questioned.
"Fine," she sighed, as she reached over the bar for an apron. The clairvoyant Halliwell resisted the urge to roll his eyes, but grabbed it from his sister. It felt good to be working, even if it was just making drinks for people.
Piper was glad as well; it kept her mind off becoming a witch. Instead, it brought up memories of Grams, and she always wanted Piper to get out of the bank she was working at while she was alive. After Prue pretty much helped raise them, and Piper couldn't bear to ask her to stay with her and help pay the bills. She thought the eldest Halliwell sacrificed enough to help Grams.
"Piper, why aren't you a chef?" Grams asked, as she saw her granddaughter helping her cook. Piper let out a deep sigh.
"Because the bank affords the health insurance," the middle Halliwell reasoned.
"Piper," Grams exasperated, "you should be doing something you love. You were meant for this,"
Piper was shaken out of her reverie as a customer accidentally brushed past her. "Sorry," she called over her shoulder. She grumbled to herself as she headed towards the back to help the understaffed servers.
Hours later, Prue was cursing at herself. She glanced at the sleeping male next to her. It was unlike her to have sex on the first date; she liked to build a relationship first. Going out with him last night was like we never stopped dating, she mused to herself. Her steely blue eyes turned towards the alarm clock; she remembered that Andy said something about getting up early. Carefully as she could, she eased herself out of the bed to not disturb him. She redressed herself, and grabbed ahold of her slinky heels. She padded softly towards the door, and barely smothered a gasp, as his alarm began to blare.
Acting purely on instinct, she squinted her eyes activating her power. Her fear must have made her telekinesis stronger, because the offending machinery shot like a bullet out of the window. She made a bee line for the door, and got out of the apartment. After Prue felt like she got far enough away, she slipped her shoes back on, and headed towards her car to get back to the manor.
She hoped by the time she was back home that her sisters wouldn't question her about not coming home last night. It made her think about what Andy was warning her about. Women all over the city were being abducted. It was a scary before she learned that she was actually a witch, and that her and her siblings powers attracted all kinds of supernatural evil because they were destined to be the Charmed Ones.
As soon as she hit the manor, she pushed those kind of thoughts out of her mind. She got out of the car, and unlocked the door. She eased it open gently, and closed it behind her softly. She headed upstairs and went to the bathroom to start getting ready for her day.
Piper woke up shortly after Prue came home, and walked down to the kitchen. Coffee wasn't made yet, and that was rare. Even with the eldest Halliwell out of work, she was still usually the first one up to start the day. She then remembered that Prue had a date with Andy after spending a few days avoiding his date. She snickered to herself and wondered what happened.
Piper let out a yawn as she got the coffee ready, and then decided to start breakfast, back in her element. She smiled as she grabbed eggs, and started. The cordless phone went off, and Piper reached over the counter and grabbed it, before clicking it on and tucking it under her ear. "Hello?"
"Oh hey Piper," Andy's voice appeared on the other line. Piper almost detected a sad tone to his voice. "Is Prue around?"
"No, she's in the shower at the moment," she replied.
"Ah," he said. "Well...will you just let her know that I called?"
"Of course," Piper said.
"Thanks, bye Piper," he said. She glanced at the phone after he hung up and shrugged her shoulders. After putting the phone down, she grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. She started to crack the eggs into a bowl, when she started to pay attention to what happened to be on. It was a documentary on witches and the church.
That brought up something that she had been subconsciously been thinking since becoming a witch. The Book of Shadows was telling them that they were good witches, but who knows? That could have been full of lies. What if her and her siblings had actually become evil beings?
Prue finally got brave enough to come down the stairs, "Morning," she said, as she made her way to the coffee pot.
"Morning," Piper said distractedly.
Prue glanced at the screen, "What are you watching?" it looked like an image of a woman being set aflame.
"Nothing," Piper said, immediately turning off the TV, "Just a show,"
Connecting the dots, Prue smirked at her, "About witches? Are you afraid of being burnt at the stake?"
"Yeah right," Piper scoffed. Desperate to change the subject, she said, "By the way, Andy called," Prue stopped her snickering and glanced at her sister as she took a sip of her coffee.
"When?" she questioned, hoping that Andy didn't unintentionally reveal anything.
"While you were showering," Piper said, glad that she got the upper hand, "Bad date?" she inquired.
"No...actually was a great date," Prue admitted. "You know dinner, movie...sex," it just came out, and Piper looked at her in shock.
"Prue on your first date? You sleaze," she teased.
"It wasn't our first date Piper!" Prue insisted.
"Nuh uh. High school so doesn't count," Piper countered, "That was last decade, spill it sister," When Prue didn't respond, the middle sister started to feel guilty. "That bad?" she asked gently. Prue sighed, and headed towards the living room with her coffee.
"It was actually that good," she admitted. "I just thought we were going to take things slow this time. Shouldn't of happened this fast," At that moment, a bleary eyed Patrick came down the stairs with a yawn.
"What shouldn't of happened?" he questioned.
"Prue sleeping with Andy," Piper said.
"Wow," Pat said with a smirk. "Bout time you got back out there," he said to his sister with a smile.
"Thanks Piper," Prue groused, shooting a glare at her.
"Wait what?" Pat said, as he made his way to the last step. "Family meeting," he said, a little stung. "You were going to tell her but not me?"
Prue attempted to deflect, "Speaking of last night, what time did you roll in?"
"Nope you can't change the subject," he said. "I for once made a good amount of tips helping Piper at Quake-,"
"I dunno, I saw you flirting with a girl after your shift," Piper interjected.
"And nothing happened with that girl!" he said. He hadn't had much luck with ladies since coming home. It's not like he could bring girls home, and being only semi-employed and still mooching off of his sisters. "Besides, maybe you should tear a page out of Prue's book. That Alec guy seemed into you,"
Piper's face heated up. Prue turned to Prue, "Who's Alec?"
"No one-," Piper started.
"Not according to my premonition," Pat teased. "You would have enjoyed yourself if you just listened-,"
"Hold on premonition?" Prue challenged. It was bad enough that she had used her power once since vanquishing Jeremy, but Pat was off using his too? "You used your power?"
Pat clammed up and looked at Piper, "Don't look at me, I'm not in the middle of this,"
"You were born in the middle," Prue said. "Pat used his power?" she questioned, getting nervous. She didn't remember much from what Pat had said when he first activated their powers, but the one thing that had stood out was that using their powers would attract all kinds of evil.
"It's not like I can control it!" he growled.
"Our powers aren't toys Pat," Piper solemnly said, hating that their conversation had gone from playful to serious.
"I thought we agreed not to use our powers," Prue said, setting a glare at Pat.
"No you and Piper agreed!" he said, running his hands through his bed head hair. "Laying down the law. I didn't agree to those terms,"
"Our powers can attract more Warlocks," Prue said with a defeated sigh.
"According to the book, they are coming anyways!" Pat said, trying to keel his temper over.
"And that's not the only thing that we have to worry about," Prue sighed, finally letting go of the irritation she was feeling. "Andy said girls were being kidnapped all over town,"
"You and Andy were talking about kidnappings on your date?" Pat quipped, "No wonder you jumped back in with him,"
Prue couldn't help but lightly smacking Pat on the arm with a smile, "No! I was just saying that the supernatural evil isn't the only evil we have to worry about," she finished her coffee, "But now is not the time to keep discussing this. Have a job interview to get to," she said. "Be nice to have steady paycheck again," she said, as she grabbed her purse, jacket, and keys before heading out the door.
Pat shot Piper a look, "Thanks for throwing me under the bus like that," he groused.
"Hey you keep getting sarcastic like that, and I won't fix you breakfast," she laughed. Pat shook his head and followed her back into the kitchen.
I hope that this chapter is ok! Took me forever to churn it out, but I think I'm finally getting into the swing of things again :)
