Disclaimer: Never mind, never. Can you leave a soul to mourn in peace?

Warnings: grammar errors, genderbending, crack-pairing and where the hell are the puns?
1, rumours
"Did you hear that Izuki is dating that creepy guy from Rakuzan?" Koganei delivered the dread news, which results in their current situation, eating ramen and Hyuuga's looking at Izuki with accusing eyes.
"He isn't that creepy." The girl in rumour is saying, "Besides, he's in Tokyo University, not Rakuzan."
Hyuuga doesn't hear anything more. He looks straight at Izuki - his bloody best friend (he's reconsidering it at the moment), trying to keep a calm face and asks:
"So, did I hear that right?"
She rolls her eyes skywards: "It has nothing to do with you guys."
"You're wrong." Hyuuga replies, facade vanishes. "You're too good for him. Any girl is, especially you. What if he hurts you?"
"Love means hurting."
"Don't say that word!"
"Which one? Love or hurting?"
"Both."
"I appreciate your compliment, Hyuuga." Izuki sighs into her ramen. "But I'm having a date with Chihiro in half an hour. So, excuse me."
Hyuuga stares at her back as she stands up from her chair.
"Who're you and what have you done to Izuki?" The Izuki he knows would never say something as dumb as 'Love means hurting'!
She shots him that look and walks away.
Fine, he's going to chaperone her date, that's it.
2, unresponsive.
There's like the first time they met in the court he has no life in him. But that time, she still saw some tiniest bit of light in his grey eyes. Not like this.
That time, he had his eyes open.
That time, he was moving and acting and responsive - not cold and marbled and solid as a block of ice.
A heart monitor beeps bleakly in the shadows of the room, its beat hard, few and far-between. A chasm of time opens between each sound.
Izuki's learnt to get used to that sound, because it's the only light she can see. She leans down and rubs a callouse hand. She murmurs in her soft voice, makes fun and laughs to herself, about what's happening, asking (begging) him to wake up.
Still, Mayuzumi doesn't respond.
3, pie
"Izuki-san". Unbelievable.
"Yes, Mayuzumi-san?" Puzzled.
"What're you doing?"
Mayuzumi watches Izuki from across the table as she carefully cuts a circle out of the very center of a pie and carefully put the perfect circle on her plate. Great, just when he thinks he's known all the weird about her, she comes up with something stranger.
"Getting a piece of pie." Izuki replies and looks at him as if he's going insane for not knowing what obvious she's doing.
"Why do you have to cut it like that?"
"Because the crust is the best part of the pie."
"You should have just eaten that."
She looks horrified at that suggestion.
"No. You have to start from the inside and work your way out. Save the best for last. Really, you have so many things to learn, Mayuzumi-san."
It would become a lie if he said he wasn't offended.
"Izuki-san, pie is pie. You just have to put it in your mouth and eat."
"And I thought you're the best guy I've met to date."
Like her pouting will work on him.
"Just eat the pie and finish your lunch."
"Please? Please? Please?"
"..."
"Mayuzumi-san!"
"Make it quick."
