((I couldn't keep this chapter away from you guys too long, I had to post it today! XD It was really bugging me if I didn't, so here ya go!))

Last time…

"Berrynose," she says with a snarl, "and a large pale gray tom with dark grey flecks and dark blue eyes." Jayfeather had to pause and think. "Jayfeather, isn't Berrynose suppose to be dead?" Sakura questions with a hint of a small.

Jayfeather growled. "Yes he is, but I can't believe it." He stepped closer. "Ashfur, why are you in the Dark Forest?"

;:;

Ashfur let out a maniacal laugh. Jayfeather shivers violently at it, it sounds insane. "What do you mean why am I in the dark forest?" He asks in a mockingly polite voice.

"I mean the last time I saw you, you was in Starclan," Jayfeather growls. "Why are you in the Dark Forest and how?"

"Oh, I guess I should tell you," he says with an exasperated sigh. "As you know, your mange of a sister killed me," he growls, "and I was sent to Starclan because I didn't do anything horrible during my life. Well I never actually got to rest with the fact that she did what she did. So I wanted her dead, and Hawkfrost offered to do the job if I helped them persuade a few cats over to their side. Needless to say it was done and Hawkfrost kept his promise, even though he died in the process."

"Starclan didn't find out about my taboo until today actually," he says with a chuckle, "but by then I had already switched over to the dark side." A grin spread across his face, a grin that Jayfeather would be glad he was blind for.

"But Hollyleaf is dead, aren't you sated?"

"Oh no, because as soon as she died another problem reared its head..."

Berrynose snarled. "Squirrelflight," he spat.

Ashfur agreed with him. "Yes. Dear, precious, Squirrelflight. I never did get over the fact that she chose Tigerstar's offspring over me."

Jayfeather could hear the loathing and scorn in the dead tom's voice and felt a pang of pity.

Ashfur sighed again and shook his head lightly. "I still love her, I do, and I actually can't stop loving her. It's the fact that she has actual kits with the murderer's son that makes me hate her. She's a traitor to her own clan!"

"And Leafpool is right along with her," Berrynose hisses. The two cats behind them yowl in agreement.

Sakura breaths softly, though the dumbfounded expression on her face found way to her voice. "When I heard the stories I never believed it to be true..."

"Stupid kit," the dappled she cat snaps.

"Are there more of you?" Jayfeather asks.

Ashfur snorts and growls. "I feel no need to lie, yes there is. A large group of lost stragglers lurk around with the thirst for revenge, but other than that it is just us four."

"So you are leading this?"

"Yes, I want to get Squirrelflight, I want to make get regret her decision of picking Brambleclaw over me." Ashfur growls. A sickly sweet voice prepares Jayfeather for an attack. "And what better way to hurt a queen than her kit, even if it's not hers."

Jayfeather ducked just in time to dodge the claws behind his head. He heard Sakura screech in panic and pounced on her. "Stay under me!" He ordered. Sakura positioned herself so that she was crouching under him.

The only bit of light she could see was the small crack ahead of them, and that wasn't enough. She saw enough to call out the positions from where the cats would attack, but Jayfeather looked to be handling that all on his own. How he could do that she had no idea. One of the cats, the tabby tom, yowled and fell. Jayfeather had kicked him with his hind leg, his claws catching the tom's throat. He disappeared into nothing.

Sakura smelled blood, Jayfeather's blood. She brushed her head against his belly and frowned. He was bleeding a lot but still fighting. 'Like a Moonclan cat,' she thought. Then she scowled. 'Here you are, the offspring of two feared Moonclan warriors, and yet you lay cowering under a medicine cat?' Sakura growled, she had to help.

She closed her eyes and listened around her. Jayfeather growled in pain above her as Ashfur slashed him across his shoulder. Sakura lashed out, catching someone with her claws. By the voice of it, she hit Berrynose. She lashed out with her hind leg, catching the dappled she-cat's paws and tripping her over. She hissed as she jogged her arm, lashing out again to rip fur off of Ashfur's leg. A strangled yowl sounded and Sakura felt Jayfeather disappear over her. A crack was heard next. Jayfeather had stepped dappled she cat's neck.

Ashfur and Berrynose pounced on Jayfeather then and attacked him more ferociously. Sakura took her chances and ignored her pain as she slid under one of them and clawed at their belly. Ashfur hissed and jumped back. He was panting heavily. "Fall back!" He snarled. Berrynose backed away too, then together they ran down the tunnel.

Sakura lay there for a moment to make sure they were gone. After a moment Jayfeather staggered over her. "Are you OK?" He panted. Sakura nodded dumbly, trembling in shock. Dead cats had attacked them, how was that possible?

"We are almost there," he muttered Sakura stood and together they limped to their destination.

Sakura gazed up at the ceiling once they reached the area. The waning moon stared down at them. She took the time to get a look at her surroundings, a large cave with a stream running through it. Sakura led Jayfeather to the patch of grass in a dark corner and searched for herbs. All she found were cobwebs and the leaf she believed to be chervil, it was where she found the plant. She walked to the pond, drenched half of the cobwebs in water and ran back to him, then cleaned and dressed his wounds. She followed his instructions closely when preparing the chervil, smearing over his wounds.

After that was done she went back and caught two measly fish. They ate it and curled up close for warmth. Sakura stayed up and kept watch.
