8 and a half months pregnant. It's safe to say I was miserable as I walked around our apartment. I couldn't even see my toes and I still had about a week left of this. I didn't know how I was going to survive it.
"What are you thinking about, Roza?" Dimitri asked and I turned to him.
"The fact that I still have a week left to deal with this. I will be so happy when I pop this thing out." he glared at me for a moment before getting up.
He wrapped an arm around me and put a hand on top of our baby. "I know but it won't be long my love." I laid my head against his chest and sighed.
"I know but is it so bad for me to want it to hurry up and be over?" I asked and he laughed but didn't say anything. he continued to hold me until there was a knock on the door.
A few months ago, I wouldn't have gone to the door without a gun but since we hadn't heard anything out of Tasha or Robert, we'd all relaxed a little.
I was finally allowed to go out on my own again for instance. It was a small freedom but you don't realize how much you miss it until you lose it.
I put my hand on my stomach and sat back down as Lissa came in with a car seat and Christian was holding a long rectangular box. "What the hell you guys?" I asked and Lissa smiled and sat down the car seat. It was a plain black car seat with a little bit of gray. Gender neutral of course.
"I bought my niece or nephew a car seat and crib. Just know that when we have our babies, I want you to remember this and not complain when we ask you to babysit." We laughed at the thought and I got up to look at the crib.
"Well, we aren't nice enough to help you put it together. And I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing." Christian said and I laughed.
"You think I do?" I asked and Dimitri rolled his eyes.
"I do. I had to help with Vika's crib. It's not as bad as you think." He said and I smiled.
"I knew there was a reason I fell in love with you." He got on his knees and pulled out all the parts and grabbed the instructions. I leaned forward and kissed him.
"While you're looking over those, I'm going to go shopping. I'm hungry and am in the mood for something Italian." He laughed and Lissa looked from Christian to me.
"Do you want me to go with you?" she asked and I shook my head.
"Nah, I'm fine. I'll be back in about fifteen minutes." Christian took her hand and smiled.
"Not to mention the fact that you have to go primp your tiara because we have a banquet to attend." I laughed at her horrified expression.
"At least Christian's going with you. If you say something wrong pull all the attention to him." I smirked and left the room but Lissa was right behind me, her jade green eyes filled with worry.
"Can I go with you? Just to calm my nerves. I need an outfit anyway." I smiled before leading her down to the car.
"What kind of banquet is it? Celebration? Politics? Funeral?" I asked as we drove toward Missoula for her clothes and my spaghetti.
"Celebration. Tatianna's birthday is today." Her eyes dropped and a small tear slid down her cheeks.
"She wouldn't want you to mourn. You're an amazing queen and have accomplish some of the things she wanted." I squeezed her hand for a moment before putting it back on the wheel.
"I know but I just can't believe that she's really been gone a year. It's insane. Adrian is…" she trailed off and I felt a pain in my heart that I hadn't felt in a long time.
His aunt had been murdered and I'd cheated on him. He had someone else now. Sydney loved him with everything in her heart and that was something I would never have been able to give. My heart belonged to Dimitri and when your heart belongs to someone, you can only give yourself the illusion of loving someone else.
"Rose?" she pulled me out of my memories and when I turned she had a smile on her face.
"What?" I asked and she started laughing.
"You realize we just drove past the mall right?"
"For fuck's sake!" I yelled and turned around.
She was still laughing as we got out of the car and headed into the mall. "Ok, I'm really out of it."
"I'll say." I walked into the fashion section with her and looked around for about five minutes before I turned to her.
"OK I have got to get something to eat. I'm going to grab my wallet out of the car then we'll go get something to eat." I told her and she nodded as she disappeared into one of the dressing rooms.
I walked to the car and unlocked the door. After scrounging around for about five minutes I found it under the seat.
"It's about damn time." I murmured to myself and closed the door. I leaned against the door for a second and looked through my phone. Pictures of me and Dimitri, of Dimitri, of Lissa and Christian, and of Adrian and Sydney covered my albums. I smiled as I found on of Dimitri's hand over my stomach, smiling as the baby kicked his hand.
A kick at my ribs pulled me back to the present and I smiled happily. I couldn't wait for him or her to get here. To hold him or her would be a wonderful thing and every time I thought of what our baby would look like, I got that much more impatient.
I began to walk back to the mall and could already smell the spaghetti. I felt my phone vibrate as a text appeared. I was about to open it when someone covered my mouth.
"You scream it'll be the last thing you ever hear." I felt turns run down my face as the man lowered his hand down to my stomach and my baby kicked lightly.
I'd assumed I was safe too quick. Robert led me to the car and slammed the door behind him. Tasha grabbed my phone, my lifeline at this point and threw it out the window. It hit the asphalt and broke into a million pieces.
