My my my... Is it bad to say I was excited writing this chapter? Eeeeehhhh... I don't care. I have nothing to say other than this; Here comes the kits!
Cherry and Whitethunder arrived three days before the Gathering. They had minor wounds but they were back and satisfied with their victory. What shocked the clan though, was that Thornclaw walked through the entrance with them, beaten and tired.
Bramblestar ran over to them, thunder clear in his eyes. "Why did you bring him here?!" He yowled.
Whitethunder sat and scratched his ear. "You want proof of his death, do you not? Besides, when he dies he will go to the Dark Forest."
Thornclaw looked up at him with wide eyes. "Die? What do you mean?"
Cherry ignored him. "I believe that a public execution would put the clan at ease. This is the cat that plays a huge role in the clan's destruction anyway."
Bramblestar narrowed his eyes. "I told you, we do not operate like your clans."
"We didn't only bring him here for that. He has told us some rather interesting things," Cherry purred.
The cats started gathering, glaring and hissing at the exiled tom. Thornclaw spat at them. "Weak, WEAK!"
"Shut up!" Whitethunder snarled and raised his paw. Thornclaw flinched, but he didn't stop glaring. "Now, tell them exactly what you told us," the deputy ordered. Thornclaw clamped his mouth shut stubbornly. Cherry hissed and pounced on him, sinking her claws into the back of his neck slowly.
Thornclaw whimpered. "Alright get off me!" Cherry hummed in satisfaction and slowly climbed off him. Thornclaw got up and stretched, wincing. "I really don't know how you found out about my plans this far," he started with a growl, "but you are too late." He grinned smugly. "I've already reached and talked to the foreign clan cats."
Gasps were heard, followed by angry growls. Thornclaw continued.
"I told them of your location, so as soon as they find a place for all of them to settle down they will come here to kill you all!"
"You ingrate!" Whitewing hissed.
Thornclaw sneered at her. "You would've been a great follower."
"There has to be some reason other than the fact that Thunderclan has changed that you are doing this to us!" Brackenfur wailed.
"There is! He was listening to Ashfur's lies!"
Thornclaw looked stricken. Whitethunder and Cherry did not tell him they knew of his alliance with the Dark Forest. "No matter, I am still alive. I was promise to live."
Bramblestar sneered. "For what reason could you poss-"
Bramblestar was cut off by a piercing wail. Leafpool ran to the nursery. "It's real this time!" She yowled. Mousewhisker was lying on his side when his mate yowled and was now pacing by the nursery with bristled fur.
Thornclaw watched with distaste. "More Thunderclan scum," he growled. Whitethunder knocked him down and pinned him to the floor. The golden tom snarled but didn't make any move to get up.
After a while Foxe was quiet. Leafpool came out with troubled eyes. "Three kits, a tom and two she cats..."
"Three?!" Mousewhisker yowled happily.
Leafpool stepped to him. "Mousewhisker, you shouldn't go in there..."
Mousewhisker ignored her and rushed in. When he entered he froze. Foxe was lying on her sided, panting harshly. That's not what attracted his attention though. The kits were all huddled around her belly. All three kits.
All three golden furred kits.
"C-Cinderheart?" He stammered.
The queen looked up at him with cold but regretful eyes. "Now you call me by my warrior name?" She hissed. Mousewhisker shook his head and backed away.
Beside him Thornclaw walked inside. "As I was saying, I was promised to live to see my kits." He observed the kits. "Our kits look wonderful," he purred.
Everything crashed down on Mousewhisker. Blood pounded in his ears. Thornclaw said 'our' kits, not 'your' kits. That meant the kits were not his, but Thornclaw's. It also meant that she lied to him.
"T-they aren't mine..." He whispered, his eyes wide and distant.
Thornclaw turned and sneered at him. "No, they are mine."
"Mousewhisker?" Sakura asked.
But Mousewhisker didn't register Sakura's voice. Nothing mattered. And then he snapped. The next thing he knew he was over Thornclaw, fighting him in the nursery. Foxe was screaming and there were claws digging into his fur, trying to pull him off. He felt none of that. All that matter was Thornclaw being dead dead dead. Someone smashed into his side, sending him crashing into the nursery wall. Lionblaze was pinning him down.
"Mousewhisker stop!" He hissed. Mousewhisker looked at him with wild blue eyes, his pupils barely visible. Lionblaze was glaring down at him, anger and sympathy in his eyes. Mousewhisker kept looking in his eyes until his breathing slowed.
Behind Lionblaze Thornclaw lay limp, moaning in pain. Foxe was trying to calm squealing kits. Mousewhisker squirmed and Lionblaze let him up. The grey and white tom slowly rose. He looked at Thornclaw's beaten form, then to Foxe and the kits. One of the kits had grey flecks on its fur and a white underbelly. One was golden like Thornclaw and one was a golden tabby. All of their eyes were, abnormally, open. They all had amber eyes, and they were fixed on him.
Anger rose again and he turned stomped over to her. Lionblaze feared he would hurt her, but Dovewing walked in front of him and shook her head. She looked him dead in the eye, silently telling him to let it happen. If that didn't convince him, the raw anger in her gaze did.
"How could?!" Mousewhisker yowled brokenly.
Foxe fixed him a glare. "There are kits in here lower your voice!" She hissed. Mousewhisker only got louder.
"NO! HOW COULD YOU?! YOU LIED TO ME!" Foxe flinched and flattened her ears. Her eyes widened as he advanced on her, her tail curling protectively over her kits. "You are a liar, a conniving cat, a user. You care for nothing or no one but yourself. You are lower that what your new name entitles, you mange, cur! I..."
Mousewhisker closed his eyes and shook his head. It felt like it was filled with cobwebs. "I loved you, I-I did everything for you." He turned and paced. "I followed Thornclaw, tormented Leafpool, scorned Squirrelflight; I even lost faith in my clan thinking them to be for the worst! The reason I betrayed the clan was for you! And you lied to me, YOU LIED!"
Foxe froze as Mousewhisker turned and advanced on her again, until he came nose to nose with her. "You aren't a cat, you are a worm. You disgust me."
"Mousewhisker-"
"SHUT UP!" He snarled.
Foxe cowered away from him, her eyes going down to his claws. They were flexing, clawing the ground. She could tell he wanted to hurt her, or something. When she looked back at him he was walking away, towards Thornclaw. Her eyes widened.
"What are you doing?" She whispered. Mousewhisker ignored her and grabbed Thornclaw by his scruff, then dragged him until he was in front of his kits. "Mousewhisker? Mousewhisker stop!"
Thornclaw groaned and looked at her. "Cinderheart," he coughed.
Foxe whimpered. "Thornclaw..."
"You love, you loved him this whole time didn't you," Mousewhisker growled.
Foxe snarled. "Yes!"
Mousewhisker's face fell, but it quickly morphed into a sneer. He looked at the kits, pain in his eyes. He couldn't believe it, they weren't his. The tom looked away and instead glared down at Thornclaw.
Leafpool stepped forward. "I've seen enough."
Cherry stepped in front of her. "He won't hurt the kits, Mousewhisker knows better." She glanced at the tom. "Let this play out."
Leafpool looked doubtful. When she looked around the others were gathered, horrified and curious. Bramblestar didn't look like he wanted to interfere either. The ginger sighed and stepped back.
Mousewhisker's ears twitched. He heard the two in the back ground. No one was going to interfere. His claws scrapped the ground eagerly. What would he do? 'I got it!' He looked at the kits again. Yes, that would be perfect. That would be absolutely perfect.
Foxe saw him look at the kits and hissed. "Don't you dare! Get away from them!" She lashed out with her claws and he danced away from her. The tom then came and quickly snatched up one of her kits, the golden tabby. Foxe tried to follow but her body was too weak. He sat the kit on Thornclaw, the backed the way. He then pounced on Foxe, held her down and grabbed the remaining two and also sat them on Thornclaw.
Brackenfur twitched in the back ground. He wanted to help, but no one was moving. Poppyfrost and Sorreltail tensed, growling lowly in their throats. They had been mothers, so what Mousewhisker was doing made them want to tear off his pelt. Sorreltail was especially angry, being Foxe's mother.
Jayfeather leaned over to them from where he sat. "Are their clouds gathering in the sky?"
"Why would there be?" Poppyfrost snapped tersely.
Jayfeather hummed. "If a storm isn't coming, then they won't interfere." Both queens looked puzzled. What they didn't know though was that Firestar, Cinderpelt, and Willowpelt were there, watching sadly. Willowpelt was especially sad; her granddaughter had really messed up.
Foxe wailed and looked around for help. Not even the sky showed any signs of a storm. 'Starclan won't help me!' she thought fearfully. No one was helping her. She looked at her kits. They were staring at Mousewhisker. He made a show of lengthening his claws, then putting them on Thornclaw's throat.
"Deathkit," he addressed the golden tom with grey flecks, "Tigerkit," he addressed the other golden she kit with the tabby stripes, "and Hawkkit," he addressed the golden she kit, hate and malice in his voice. "The first thing you will learn in your life is killing."
He then brought his paw down on Thornclaw's neck. The tom wailed in pain, his eyes wide as he choked on his blood. The kits watched with wide, clueless eyes. Blood coated their fuzzy fur. Mousewhisker turned and walked away afterwards.
Leafpool was horrified, as well as Lionblaze. Whitethunder looked disgusted but pleased with what happened.
Bramblestar looked away. "Deathkit, Tigerkit and Hawkkit have been born into the clan." He announced. He then walked away. Everyone left the nursery.
Foxe wanted to get her kits, but they all were lying on her dead mate's body. How was supposed to get them, they were coated in his blood. "Thornclaw," she whimpered. The kits wailed pitifully in hunger. Foxe gulped and hesitantly grabbed the kits and cleaned them. The blood tastes foul.
Cats came in and removed the body later on that day, not giving her the chance to mourn. "Deathkit, Tigerkit, Hawkkit, all of them named after murderers," She heard Poppyfrost whisper to Squirrelflight.
"Well, on Mousewhisker's behalf it was a vile thing to do, but then again she deserves it. She's caused too much damage," Squirrelflight answered. "The kits will not be treated differently though, Bramblestar has told us that and we will follow it."
Foxe was numb. For the rest of the day she was numb, and when she slept she dreamed of nothing but her kits drenched in her mate's blood.
