Chapter 3

"I saw your visitor log. Is J. Rizzoli your lawyer? He's been to see you twice a month for the last two months." Buffy asked Faith.

"Jane isn't my lawyer, just a friend." Lehane answered shortly.

"How do you know her? Is she in L.A.?" Summers asked suddenly curiously.

"I know her from Boston, and no she's still back home. She flies out here when she can. It might drop to once a month when her case load gets too heavy..." Faith explained.

"What does she do?" Buffy pressed wanting to learn more about Faith's friend.

"Jane's a Homicide Detective for BPD. She's actually the first female BPD Homicide Detective. It was a boy's only club for a while, but she changed that." Faith answered proudly. She adored Jane, and was disappointed in herself for not living up to Jane's example.

"It sounds like she means a lot to you, and vice versa. I mean she'd flying cross country twice a month, that's crazy. Did you two ever date?" Buffy questioned. Faith laughed at that.

"No. We never dated. She's like a mother to me. More than my mom ever was." Faith replied.

"Tell me about your mother, Faith? You've never told me about your life besides slaying." The blonde asked her counterpart.

"She wasn't good to me. Jane says that the only good thing my mother ever did was have me. I didn't have much of a life before I was Chosen. I survived. When I let Jane help me, she'd do everything that she could to make sure I was going to be okay." Faith let the blonde know what it was like for her in Boston.

"How bad was it?" Buffy asked shocked at what she had learned. Faith smiled sadly.

"That's all you get for now B. Our times up. Later B." Faith said as she got up to leave.
