Chapter 5

"Ms. Summers." Jane greeted as she sat down across from the young woman.

"Yes. You must be Jane Rizzoli." Buffy replied as they shook hands.

"I honestly never thought that I would ever meet you. I'm going to be straight with you, I blame you and your friends for what's happened to Faith. I know that she made bad choices, but that's because of how she was treated.

If you hadn't of visited her that first time, Faith would be back home with her family by now. In 9 months Faith will be released, and she will go back to Boston with me. She'll stay with us for at least a year, after that what she does is up to her." Jane explained to the slayer.

"I didn't know that you existed until a couple of months ago. Who do you think you are, judging me and mine?" Buffy asked slighted.

"I'm the only person in this room that gives a damn about Faith. I never should have let her come out here by herself, but she didn't want any of us to get hurt. I should have come the first time she called me sounding sad. Hindsight is always 20/20." Jane told the blonde.

"You have a point, hindsight is 20/20. I wish I had known that she had you to count on, I would have tracked you down for help." Buffy acknowledged.

"She's going to tell you the worst part of her past. Faith doesn't like pity, so don't. She's going to tell you why being Chosen is such a big deal. It's not at burden to her the way it is to you. My biggest regret is that I couldn't get her out of her situation sooner." The homicide detective explained.

"Why does she have to go back to Boston? She could come back to Sunnydale with me." Buffy asked.

"Faith still needs to work through some things, and deal with everything that's happened. It'll be easier and better if she's surrounded by people who love and care about her. In Boston she's got me, ma, and pop, Frankie, Tommy, Korsack, Frost, and Maura to be there for her. She goes to Sunnydale, and all she has is maybe you. We know Faith best. We know how to take care of her." Jane answered. Buffy nodded in understanding.

"Lehane, Faith. Visitors for Lehane." The guard called out.
