"You're ridiculous," I stated.

"I'm ridiculous," Dick parroted monotonously. "Why am I ridiculous?"

I shrugged. "Iono," I responded. "I just felt like saying it." And with that, I threw my legs onto his lap and continued to read my book.

I could tell Dick rolled his eyes, but continued playing his video game on his very large television screen. The room was silent, sans Dick's furious button-pushing and the games cries, as we enjoyed an afternoon off.

We had gotten out from school an hour ago, and chose to just have a lazy day after finishing all our homework, hence my relaxing with a book in my hands and feet on Dick's lap as he played video games in his room.

I reached to turn the page in my book, when I realized the clacking of Dick's controller and the game's sounds had stopped.

I peered over the top of my book and was met with an icy-blue gaze. I cocked an eyebrow, looking at my companion. "Something wrong?"

"A guy can't stare at a pretty girl?" Dick smirked, his eyes twinkling mischievously at me.

I ignored the flush that filled my cheeks, not used to Dick being quite… affectionate. Yeah, he flirted around… but with other girls. Not me. Occasionally he'll give me a compliment here and there, but not so suddenly…

"Is there something you want from me?" I inquired, my eyebrow still raised.

Dick shook his head. "Just keep reading. I'm just enjoying the view."

I looked at him questioningly, but nodded, nonetheless, returning back to my book. Now where was I…?

I furrowed my brow, trying to remember where I was. Then I realized I still had to turn the page, but Dick was completely distracting me.

I reread the sentence of the new page ten times…

I am nothing if not resilient, but usually I can handle only about one humongous life-shaking situation per hour.

What did I just read?

I am nothing if not resilient…

I am nothing if…

Goddammit, stop looking at me, Dick.

I frowned, and pulled my book away from me. "I can't concentrate with you staring at me like that."

Dick simply smiled at me before turning back to his video game.

"You're ridiculous," I said.

"I'm ridiculous," Dick repeated, now focused on his game.

A/N: Before anyone asks, the line Verena was reading comes from James Patterson's FANG: A Maximum Ride Novel. It was the first book I saw when I turned around to pick a line from. Also, I've created a Facebook like page so I can interact with you guys more, so be sure to like it! :) The link's on my profile, and if you haven't seen it already, there's also a sketch of Dick and Verena. ;) Review/request, loves~
