A/N: Final battle with the Archangels! Good thing too because I am so ready to get this story moving. In other news school ate my life, I had no idea this many months had passed and just when I thought I was free my parents decided it was a wonderful time for three trips back-to-back.

Stretching, I heard a few joints pop and sighed as I prepared myself for another day. It was the last day of my quest and I must admit that I am curious at what the Archangels will do today, the training has been great but I doubt that Holy Type digimon were anywhere near Sayo at this moment. What we really need is some training for Dark types, they are extremely dangerous and don't fight fair like the Holy kind. Probably perfectly describes the digimon hanging around Sayo right this moment.
Grabbing my digivice I called for the digimon before we got going.
This time we found Ophanimon waiting for us in a large open area with a wide open pool of water off to the side, it was almost like being at a lake. There were a few pillars spread about but not much else other than a warp pad.
"This is our last battle. Let us both do our best! You are all indeed strong." she was smiling in an almost gentle way. "We've learned a lot from you all and are prepared to show you what we've learned in this final battle."
"Last one indeed! Good luck!" I smiled back and readied myself. From either side came Cherubimon and Seraphimon, obviously ready for a fight. Seraphimon and Ophanimon attacked together and damn, it was enough to push me back quite a few meters. Cherubimon was flying all over the place and it was impossible to take him down. For such a large digimon he was hard as hell to land a hit on.
"Sparkle Shoot!" ShineGreymon fired rapidly at the skies to try and land a hit on Cherubimon who was expertly dodging with little effort. Summoning up a giant thundercloud Cherubimon dropped thunderbolts down on our battle field, it almost seemed like he was try to taking everyone out-even his teammates! ShineGreymon took a little damage but everyone else else was more or less unscathed.
"Sefirot Crystal." the all too familiar formation formed and without a moment's hesitation Ophanimon fired them all at my digimon. Ducking behind Seraphimon she disappeared, this left me on edge.
"Shit, battle 101 Koh. Keep an eye out for enemies. If they disappear on you, you risk running the chances of taking a critical hit." I muttered lowly, scanning for any sighting of Ophanimon. Damn, the green tiles in the Highlight Haven sure as hell weren't helping me find her, they matched almost perfectly with her armour and if she flew fast enough she would be practically invisible.
"Eden's Javelin!" damn! Too late, she struck Apollomon from above and from the looks of it, he took some pretty heavy damage. But before she could fly off again his fist connected with her body and sent her a good ways back and into a pillar.
"Guys! Opanimon, now!" I yelled out, they didn't need full sentences to react to a command, it's something we've been working on and hopefully they've gotten used to this by now. ShineGreymon left his position trying to get Cherubimon to land and readied another attack in tandem with Apollomon, Angemon however couldn't get away from Seraphimon. Didn't matter though, the other two should be able to at least deal some heavy damage without him.
"Sol Blaster!"
"Glorious Burst!"
Duel orbs of light from opposite directions collided in the middle and as soon as the lights faded Ophanimon was sent plummeting down, hitting the ground with a loud crash. I highly doubted that she would be getting up anytime soon. However one of Cherubimon's orbs of lighting crashed against ShineGreymon flinging him toward and eventually crashing into Apollomon. Before either could retaliate Angemon was also thrown into the pile of digimon by Seraphimon.
"Strike of the Seven Stars!"
"Omni Typhoon!" Angemon had redirected the spheres with the typhoon sending the majority of them off in scattered directions but a couple found themselves being sent back to the original attacker. Regrettably however it didn't do much in terms of damage. At least by now my digimon were up on their feet again.
"Urg. I did not see that one coming." said ShineGreymon getting back into his fighting stance.
I took a quick scan of the damaged battlefield before responding. "None of us did. Is it me or did they get stronger?"
"Either that or they've been holding back some." Apollomon muttered.
"No, it doesn't seem like it. Maybe this is their strategy for the day. I didn't really pick up on an obvious one today, so maybe this is it."
"So what? Use Ophanimon at bait and then try to take us out in one go?" questioned ShineGreymon.
"Yep, and we took the bait. But for now she is down and it's three against two. Take 'em down."
"You got it!"
"Whatever you say."
"Let's go!"
xXx Sayo xXx
I awoke when I heard the door opening and closing, in my semi-conscious state I could hear soft footsteps making their way about the room and a tray was placed on the coffee table. I snuggled a little deeper into my bed and pillows and for a moment I was able to fall back into the dream world. At least until I felt a hand on my shoulder, gently bringing me back from unconsciousness.
"Sayo." the voice called, male.
"Hmmmm?" I barely answered trying to burrow myself back under the cover.
"It is time for you to get up."
"Just a little longer?"
"I've already brought your breakfast to you almost two hours late. I do believe you have to get up now."
Sighing I rolled over and opened my eyes, thank goodness the curtains weren't drawn. My eyes could adjust well enough with the decent amount of light through the curtains. Slowly getting up I stretched and as soon as I made it to the bathroom Wizardmon pulled open the curtains and began taking things of the trays.
"I've already drawn you a bath and I'll bring you new clothes in a moment."
"Thank you Wizardmon." closing the door I stripped and left the clothing on the tiled floor before slowly sinking into the extra warm water. The door opened and Wizardmon placed my new clothing on the counter and turned to me.
"Breakfast has been set out for you and I've made the bed."
"Thank you Wizardmon." I smiled and before he left he picked up the clothes on the floor and closed the door.
As soon as I was clean and dressed I ate breakfast at a leisurely pace while I waited for Wizardmon to return. I wonder why I'm still so tired. This is so unlike me to still be tired after a pretty good night's sleep. Sighing I put my cup of tea down and laid down on the bed.
Maybe a short nap while I wait will be good.
My eyes drooped and I didn't bother fighting the feeling, instead I relaxed and allowed the sinking feeling to take over and before I knew it I was in a deep sleep.

"Phoebus Blow!" Apollomon's attack sent Cherubimon flying and by the looks of it the bunny-like digimon was not going to be getting back up. To my right ShineGreymon and Angemon were able to subdue Seraphimon with a furious double attack. Though beat up all my digimon were still standing, more or less.
After helping the Archangels stand Ophanimon was the first one to speak, "Thank you very much Koh. Sadly this concludes all of the battles and the training. However it was very beneficial to us and hopefully yourself as well."
"Myself?"
"Yes, have you realised something after these battles?" she looked at me kind of expectantly, as if she knew the entire outcome of these battles.
Thinking hard the pieces in my brain finally connected. These battles, regardless of the fact that we were against Holy types, have been preparing me and bridging the gap in my skills so I could go and find Sayo!
"This training was meant to aid you as well as us. You should now be stronger and have a better understanding of how to effectively battle. Good luck to you in the near future." with that the three digimon took to the skies and flew off with their final good-byes.
"What was that about?" Coronamon asked, having reverted back down to his rookie form. Smiling I shook my head and pointed toward the warp pad.
"We can talk about that later, for now let's head back and finish the quest."
"Alrighty. But you mind carrying us in the digivice?" he asked looking at the other two.
"Eh?"
"We're beat, those angels did not hold back a single bit." letting out a small laugh I nodded and returned them to the digivice.
"I'll take you guys home right after so you have a chance to fully heal." heading toward the warp pad and stepping on I relaxed at the feeling of the data swirling around me and in a blink of an eye we were at Shine Terminal again. "Alright, time to go and meet up with Slash Angemon." finding him in Shine Plaza I ran over and relayed the success of the quest.
"Ah! Koh! They've already told me that they learned a lot from their battles with you and they hope you learned something as well. Although I have no idea what that could be. Thank you though! For taking on this quest your reward is waiting at Shine Center!" he smiled and waved as I ran off to the other side of Sun Shine.
At the counter I received 200 Tamer Points and 16190 bits. After having it all downloaded into my digivice I made good on my promise and took my digimon back home where they could heal properly and fully. My plan for the rest of the day was to relax and enjoy the fact that I really did get some important information and training out of these three battles. Not to mention it killed sometime so I have to wait around a little less before our planned "assault".
But, with all this free time I wonder if Sayo is doing alright.
xXx Sayo xXx
Laughter.
It was the first sound I heard when I opened my eyes, standing in front of me was a boy with blue eyes and silver hair. He smiled before offering me and hand and helping me sit up. But before I could think of saying anything my body responded. "Kai?"
"Have a good nap?" he asked, picking me up to hold in his arms. Realising that I was no longer my actual size I tried to struggle but it was as if I had no control over my body. I could only nod in my groggy state and lay my head on his shoulder. I could feel each step he took as we made our way out of my room and into the hall way.
Memories.
This was a memory.
Which meant that I had no control over myself and every single thought would be my feelings at this time.
"Who is laughing?" I asked trying not to yawn. He smiled and took me to the living room.
"Ah, Sayo you're awake!" my papa came up and took my from him and I gladly raised my arms to hold onto his neck. I hugged him close as I watched Kai move into the kitchen and papa sat down and set me in his lap.
"Sayo sweetie," mama called and looking up she gave a big and warm smile, "there are people I want you to meet." her hand was extended toward the man and woman sitting in front of us. "This is Julia." the woman smiled and waved.
"Hi there little one."
"Hello." I waved back tiredly.
"And this is Glare." the man got up and walked in front of me.
"Hi there beautiful." he held out his hand toward me and I was amazed at how big it was! Grasping his hand in both of mine I started to hold it and play with it. "Well aren't you a cutie?" he laughed and let me continue to play with his hand.
"She seems to like you Glare. Normally she's quite shy with new people." papa's voice rumbled and I could feel it vibrating from his chest.
"Well I guess I'm just that kind of person. I can bring anyone out of their shell." the man-Glare-commented. The woman across from me shorted and stifled a small laugh. A juice box was held in front of me and looking up I could see that Kai had gotten it and also had a plate of snacks in his other hand. I made a noise of joy because I was starting to feel a little hungry. I took the box and eagerly began drinking up the juice. Everyone around me laughed happily and watched me drink.
"Snack time I suppose." papa mentioned before handing me off to Kai. He placed the plate of snacks down on the small table and set me down in front of them. The lady-Julia-was staring at me while mama, papa and Glare talked. Looking at the plate I saw a crescent shaped cookie. It looked like the clip in her hair. Picking up the cookie and standing I made my way to her and held out the snack.
"Hmm?" she looked confused and I didn't say anything. I pointed at her hair. It looked like she got what I was trying to say and she smiled. "Oh. You mean my hairpin?" I nodded quickly and held out the cookie again. She smiled and laughed a little. "I see now. How about a trade? My hairpin for that cookie?" by now everyone was watching us as she took out the decorative clip and placed it in my short hair before taking the cookie. She fondly patted my head before taking a bite. "Thank you very much, Sayo."
Flushing slightly I smiled the widest I could before going back to finish eating the cookies. The hair clip was a nice sort of weight on my head, I liked the way it felt and mama kept looking at me and smiling, when it started to slide out of my hair she put it back and made sure the clip stayed in the correct spot. I think she liked it too. I took my last bite of the cookies and it then that I noticed there was no more talking.
Everything had gone silent.
The living room started to blur away and before long it was nothing but darkness again. The scenery began to change and this time I stood in front of a large building, I immediately recognized it as the laboratory that papa worked at. Tugging at the hand holding mine I pulled Kai toward the entrance. Walking up to the counter the woman behind it smiled and greeted us. She gave Kai a pass with a clip on it.
"Hi there darling! Haven't seen you around here in a while." she bent down placed a pass around my neck. "Your dad is in the lab right now, he should be done in a little bit. Do you remember what you have to do?"
I nodded quickly and recited the safety instructions papa told me about. "When they're working I need to stay on one side of the window. When the light goes off I can go in and see papa. But if not I have to stay on the other side, no matter what." she smiled and placed a hand on my head.
"That's a good girl. You two can go ahead and I'll let them know you're here." Kai started to lead us down a hallway toward the lab where papa worked.
"Kai?"
"What is it Sayo?"
"What does papa do here?"
"Hmm?" he turned to look at me while we waited for the elevator.
"I know it's important but he never says anything about it. Mama says that I'm too young to know about it." the ding alerted us of the doors opening, we waited for a small group of people to come out before we went in.
"Well it won't make much sense to you now, but he is working on a very special project."
"A project?"
"Yes, it's a project that lets you go to a magical place."
"Where do you go?"
"It's known as the Digital World."
"Di-gi-tal World?"
"Yes, it's a very special and amazing place. Your mama and papa are just waiting until you're a little more grown up before they can take you there."
"Really?!" the elevator dinged and the bright numbers showed that we were on the 9th floor. Kai took my hand again before we started walking. "How much more grown up before I can go?"
"Well, how old are you now?"
"I'm five!" I held up my hand to show him on my fingers.
"Well maybe in a year or two, so hurry and grow up really quickly okay? The Digital World is a amazing place, because no matter how much time you spend there almost no time ever passes here."
"How can that be?" I furrowed my brows, it can't work like that.
"No one knows. That's why your papa is working on the project. He's trying to make it so that the time is a little closer to ours, so you can spend time in both world and still grow up the same. He is trying to bridge a gap no one really knows is there."
"Papa is really amazing right?"
Kai chuckled and smiled at me. "Of course he is. He is your papa after all." I smiled at him and across from us the doors opened and papa came out to greet us.
"Ah! There you two are, we've been waiting." papa kneeled down and picked me up before taking us inside the bright room.
Everything faded again and I was once again standing in the darkness. But now I was back to my correct size and age. Before anything else could happen a bright light blinded me and when I opened my eyes again I was staring at the canopy of my bed, back in the palace in the Digital World. Wizardmon withdrew his hand from my shoulder and I sat up shaking the rest of the sleep from my body.
"Did something happen?" he asked concerned as I felt something wet fall on my hand.
"Huh?" looking up I found his hand on my cheek wiping away stray tears. "No, it was nothing. The dream was just really sweet is all. Sometimes happy things can make you cry too."
"Ah. I've made more tea, would you like some?" he asked in a soft voice eyeing me as nodded. He placed the tray on the bed before pouring me a cup and handing it carefully to me. "Even though you cried, you look very happy Sayo."
"Even if getting everything back is kind of slow. I'm glad I was able to remember a happier time, back when I saw the world a lot differently. My, time does change people."
"Time is a mysterious thing, never had a beginning or end. Never stops or starts. It's just there."
"Trying to bridge a gap in worlds huh?" I said lowly thinking back to the vivid conversation with him. Taking a sip I continued to replay the memories again and again.
"Is something the matter?"
"No. Nothing is wrong, just some thoughtless comments of mine."
"Of a different life?"
"No, of a...different time. Shall we go to the study Wizardmon?"
"As you wish."
A/N: Such a short update by hey, at least I got something up! I'm not sure about anyone else but I am so looking forward to the rest of the story since the real action will be taking place in a little bit. I will hopefully make up for my absence and chapters that I feel like should've been uploaded during the school year. Hope everyone sticks around that long!
Also, I'm working on another possible short story/one shot if anyone wants to wait for something else while I take my sweet time updating this story, I've been playing around with the idea of a wedding story for Koh and Sayo. Any suggestions of what to put in it?
Love,
Dragon
