Wrong Train
Naruto stared out the window, holding the grip of his Double-Edged Sword tightly. He was worried about what they would find when they reached their destination. He was also worried about what Hinata thought of him now that he had snapped in front of her. After nearly three hours of travel, they finally stopped for a potty break before traveling into a tunnel.
"Our hideout is just beyond this cave," one of Sandayu's subordinate's stated.
Sandayu had explained about Yukie's, or rather, Princess Koyuki's, past as well as the fact that he was a part of a resistance again Doto, the usurper who had killed Koyuki's father to take power. He had also apparently tried to kill Koyuki but Kakashi had saved her. Naruto finished and turned toward the trucks just as Lee sprinted out from between two of the trucks and over to him.
"Koyuki ran off," Lee stated.
"I got her. Have someone send a flare into the air in fifteen minutes." Naruto ordered before teleporting to the seal on Koyuki's shoulder.
He appeared directly over her, Koyuki being passed out in the snow. He knelt and felt her pulse then sighed.
"Why do you keep running away?" Naruto questioned. "Where would you have gone?"
"Shut up," Koyuki growled. "Why do you even care?"
"Honestly?" Naruto grinned. "I'm not sure. I guess just because what Doto did was beyond wrong and he has to pay. And his three subordinates have to pay for threatening my friends."
"Your loyalty to your friends will be the death of you," Koyuki stated. "Some day, one of your friends will be in danger, and you're going to go to your death, trying to save them."
"That's great," Naruto stated kneeling in front of her so he could give her a piggy back ride. "But for now, we have to get back."
Koyuki climbed onto his back and he stood, looking up just as a flare shot into the air. Then, he sprinted toward it. After about fifteen minutes, they reached the cave and saw tracks leading into the cave, proving that they had moved through the cave.
"Hang on," Naruto ordered sprinting forward and into the tunnel.
After a couple of minutes, he stopped as the rails that supposedly ran through the tunnel began to thaw from under the ice. A moment later, a train horn sounded. Naruto looked behind him and his eyes widened. There was a train shooting toward them along the tracks, taking up the entire tunnel and smashing through ice pillar after ice pillar.
"Run!" Koyuki shouted snapping Naruto back to the present.
Naruto turned and darted forward, at first seeming to keep pace with the train but it soon began to catch up. Naruto grit his teeth and sped up, his entire body burning with the effort. Finally he reached the end of the tunnel and threw himself out of the way less than a second before the train shot past. It screeched to a stop in front of the others and a man with long black hair with two locks framing his face, a broad face, a broad build, and a cloak stepped out onto a balcony on the back of the train.
"It's been a long time, Koyuki," Doto spoke into a microphone, his voice echoing across the area. "Be a good girl and give me your hex crystal."
Naruto stood, drawing his sword under his own cloak just as snow and logs crashed into the train, burying two cars. Doto looked where they had come from and found Sandayu and fifty other men, all dressed as Samurai without the armor.
"Doto!" Sandayu shouted. "Today you meet you end! Because Sandayu Asama and fifty loyal men stand before you! Ready and willing to give our lives to protect Princess Koyuki!"
"Sandayu don't even think about it," Naruto growled. "You idiot!"
Sandayu and the samurai began charging down the hill at the train just as a snow ninja rose from the opening on the top of each car, minus the two buried ones. Each had a large box in front of them with several rows of openings and a crank handle on the side. Then, the sides of the cars facing the samurai opened revealing yet more opening. Naruto couldn't count how many there were on each car but didn't need to. A moment after he began to try, thousands of kunai began shooting out of the holes, far too fast to keep up with. Less than a second later, the kunai began tearing through the samurai leveling them. After another second, the kunai stopped leaving only Sandayu standing. There were kunai sticking out of him at random places.
Naruto could see the others sprinting toward Sandayu just as one of the cars fired one last wave. Sandayu watched the kunai approaching calmly but just as they were about to hit him, a large shuriken shot down in front of him, knocking the kunai out of the air. Then, Tenten and Lee landed in front of him. Just then, the mountain above the train exploded, beginning to bury the train. Doto and the others walked calmly into the door and a few seconds later, the train disconnected at the first car not buried and began to pull away, crossing an old train bridge. The bridge exploded just as the train was fully on it and the front two cars disconnected, pulling away while the rest of the train fell off the bridge and vanished from sight.
Naruto and Koyuki rushed over to the others and knelt as they set Sandayu on a board as an impromptu stretcher.
"My...princess," Sandayu struggled to say. "I...apologize...I never...should have gotten you...involved in all of this...It's just...that every single one of us here...was able to keep believing in spite of everything because...we knew, you were alive...When you were little...and even now...you have always been...just as I...your loyal Sandayu believed...so too must you believe in yourself...You have always been our purest hope Princess...Please...do not waste...your tears...on me."
Then, his head fell to the side, and he was still.
"You are such a fool, Sandayu," Koyuki muttered. "I can't cry. You have my eye drops."
They all remained silent for a moment.
"Are you all satisfied now?" Koyuki questioned standing. "Let's go back. If you stay here, your lives will be in jeopardy! Let's go home already."
"Go home to where?" Naruto questioned as Koyuki walked away. "I thought this was your home! Wasn't it? What the heck do you have to go back to, we're already here! No shut the fuck up while we kill Doto so you can put your house back in order!"
"You know absolutely nothing," Koyuki spat looking back at him. "Spring doesn't come to this country. Our tears have frozen over, and our hearts hardened with the cold."
"But...aren't you the only one with the power to change that?" Sakura questioned.
"Sakura is right," Lee piped up. "You can save your people if you just trust us."
"I've had enough of this nonsense," Koyuki growled after a moment and began walking away again.
"Hey, hold on a minute!" Tenten shouted catching Koyuki's arm only to have her wrench it away.
"Leave me alone already!" Koyuki shouted earning a glare.
Just then, a massive balloon attached to the second car of the train rose from behind the cliff, Mizore standing in the doorway. Naruto darted forward with Lee just as Mizore's robotic hand shot forward and latched onto Koyuki's back. Naruto drew his sword slashing at the wire attached to the hand but Mizore whipped his hand sideways and the hand followed suit, whipping the wire ad Koyuki away from the two ninja. Then, the hand retracted and Mizore pulled Koyuki into the car. Naruto tried to teleport to the seal on Koyuki's shoulder but she was already out of range. Naruto threw a kunai then sent it to the train car using his Double-Edged Sword. The kunai hit the back and Lee instantly grabbed Naruto's arm and spun hurling him after the train car. The moment Naruto was in range, he teleported to the kunai, missing the car by a millimeter but catching the railing and pulling himself onto the train car, retrieving his kunai. Then, he kicked the door open, drawing his sword and extending his Garian blade. He quickly killed the snow ninja in the room and turned to leave just as Nadare and Mizore both caught him with a length of metal wire before electrocuting him, leaving him barely conscious. Then they dragged him to the front of the car where Doto was waiting.
"Who is this kid?" Doto questioned.
"He's one of the Leaf ninja assigned to protect Koyuki," Nadare stated then indicated the corpses visible through the open doorway. "As you can see, he was quite a handful."
"I don't know who he is but his level of chakra's nothing to sniff at," Mizore stated, wounded arm in a sling and protective cast.
"Maybe we should try that contraption out on him," Nadare suggested.
"Excellent idea," Doto smiled. "Get it will you?"
Nadare opened a hidden hatch in the wall and pulled out a device with a blue and red Yin-Yang symbol in the center. Nadare twisted the device, separating it from its back then swung it at Naruto's stomach as Mizore held him up. Just as it neared him, Naruto teleported to Koyuki and the device hit Mizore's stomach instead, six wires extending from it and driving themselves into his body before the device electrocuted him, drawing the chakra out of him and into itself where it was sealed. After a moment, Mizore collapsed and Nadare stared at him in shock for a moment before looking around for Naruto, who was now free of the wire.
"Nice try," Naruto grinned. "But you'll have to try a lot harder than-"
He stopped as Doto slammed a second device into his stomach. Electricity shot through Naruto's body taking his chakra instantly pouring out of his body and into the , he collapsed as it finished and Doto turned to Mizore.
"Help," Mizore groaned.
"Remove it," Doto ordered Nadare. "I have no use for a soldier who cannot fight."
Nadare nodded and pulled the device off, all the while electricity shot through Mizore. Finally the wires pulled free of him and retracted into the device. Nadare put it away and tied Naruto up, careful to relieve him of his Double-Edged Sword and Garian Sword.
