I do not own Naruto Shippuden or any of the characters. This chapter is mostly from Naruto's POV so it is the version of the timeline after Shion changes history to save Naruto.

Moryo

Naruto dragged himself out of the water. Shion was calm. Hinata was calm. He, was not. Shion was sitting under a tree beside the river they had landed in at the base of the cliff they had leapt off of. Naruto's clone had been destroyed during the jump. Naruto had prayed it would last and shield Hinata because he was forced to shield Shion so that she could stop Moryo after they got back to the shrine. As a result, Shion was fine but Hinata had hit the water harder than Naruto. She would be fine if that was all that had happened. But after that, she slammed her head on the bottom of the river and was knocked out. Naruto had her out of the water now, but she wasn't breathing.

"CPR, now!" Kurama ordered.

Naruto instantly blushed and was thankful that it was night so that Shion couldn't see it.

"Hinata," Naruto muttered feeling for a pulse. "If you can hear me you had better wake up right fucking now."

No response, no pulse.

"That's what I was afraid you would say," Naruto sighed.

He placed the heal of his hand in the center of her chest and began pressing down following Kurama's instructions to the letter. After pressing on her chest thirty times, Naruto tilted her head back, lifting her chin and pinched her throat. His blush darkened so much that he was sure his face was glowing. He covered her mouth with his and blew then turned his head both to take another breath and listen for her own breathing. When he heard nothing, he covered her mouth again and blew. Again nothing. He sat up, returning to chest compressions and after another thirty, readjusted her head taking a breath. Sure enough, she wasn't breathing. He continued. One breath. Nothing. Two breaths. Nothing. Thirty chest compressions. Nothing.

Shion walked over and tried to pull him away from Hinata, seeing that she was dead, and he couldn't do anything but he shook her off.

"No," Naruto growled before covering Hinata's mouth with his own yet again. "You are not dying on me!"

Another breath. Still nothing. Thirty chest compressions, all the while ignoring Shion. Another breath. Nothing. Another. Naruto froze for half a second. He could swear that he had felt a breath, not quite enough to hear.

"Don't stop until she wakes up!" Kurama snapped.

Thirty compressions. No response. One breath. Again just barely able to feel her breath, then nothing. Another breath. He sat up as fast as he could, Hinata finally sitting up and beginning to cough up water. Naruto sighed in relief, holding Hinata up so she didn't fall into the vomit and holding her hair out of the way. After about a minute she finally stopped vomiting and leaned against Naruto, breathing shallowly, barely conscious.

"Are you okay?" Naruto questioned finally.

"Yes," Hinata muttered, voice weak. "What happened?"

"You almost drowned," Naruto stated, blushing again as Hinata's own face turned so red that he could actually see it.

After a few seconds, Naruto helped Hinata up and over to the water so she could rinse the taste of vomit out of her mouth then helped her over to the tree so she could rest.

"Go," Hinata muttered after she was seated. "I'll stay here. You two have to stop Moryo."

Naruto looked at her worriedly for a moment before looking up at the top of the cliff and finally to Shion.

"We have to go," Shion stated. "She'll be fine if you leave a clone."

Naruto hesitated then nodded and stood, creating a clone who sent a pulse of chakra through his right hand, destroying itself but healing Hinata. She smiled and stood, fully recovered and Shion rolled her eyes.

"Cheater," Shion stated. "Why not do that to start with?"

"It doesn't work on the dead," Naruto stated kneeling and creating another clone for Hinata. "Shall we go kick fate, I mean Moryo's ass?"

"Alright," Shion smiled climbing onto his back. "Naruto?"

"Yeah?" Naruto questioned.

"Be careful, you must live," Shion requested.

"I usually don't do careful," Naruto grinned. "But given my newest opponent, I think I might just watch my clones on this one."

Hinata and Shion both smiled in relief as Naruto and his clone sprinted up the side of the cliff to the waiting army. Naruto created three clones who formed two Rasengans each. The three clones leapt over the edge of the cliff. The first clone blasting a section of the ghost army with his first Rasengan then dashing forward as Naruto and his forth clone landed with the could-be-twins and followed. The clone that had already used a Rasengan blasted another section then the next clone landed basting the next group and darting forward and the cycle repeated with him and the last clone until they had formed a path to the entrance to the temple. Naruto and his clone ran to it before Naruto's clone disappeared and Naruto set Shion down before sending a flood of clones at the army to hold them back.

"Go Shion, Hinata go with her," Naruto ordered. "I'll handle things here and catch up when I finish."

Shion nodded and left and Hinata followed a moment later, unhappy about Naruto fighting the Ghost Army alone.

Naruto turned back to his clones, the back row of which knelt and spread seals then stood and formed Rasengans. They leapt over the other clones who all back off the army allowing the back row to obliterate a massive number of the statues. The new back row copied the last and this continued until the clones were all gone except for three that had neglected to go. There was still at least four thousand statues left and Naruto teleported out of this clones and they all prepared their weapons. One of the clones formed two Rasengans that he would replace as needed, one drew his Double-Edged Swords, one extended his Garian Blades, and Naruto himself drew Temujin's sword, channeling chakra into it.

"Shall we boys?" Naruto questioned and the clones all cheered as the statues surrounded them. "Rasengans, you can teleport. The rest of you are not allowed."

With that said, the statues all began walking forward. The Narutos waited a moment before laughing at an unspoken joke or another and darting forward, with the exception of the clone with the Garian Sword. Naruto began obliterating groups of statues with each explosive swing, the clone with the Rasengans doing more damage and instantly reforming his Rasengans after using them. The clone with the Double-Edged Swords was alternating between cutting straight through statues and simply blasting them with Wind-Style Jutsus. The Naruto with the Garian Swords had them in their serpentine forms and was using them to smash statues into each other and restrain them when they tried to attack one of the other Narutos. He was also occasionally throwing them off the cliff and all of the Narutos were spamming Air Bullets which they were so used to using that they no longer required hand seals to use and which now rivaled his own Vacuum Spheres in raw power.

After a couple of minutes, the Naruto with the Rasengans ran out of chakra and disappeared and a moment later, the one with the Garian Swords was destroyed while one of his blades was throwing a statue and the other was stopping an attack on the one with the Double-Edged Swords. That one instantly spun and sent out a sphere of wind around himself clearing a space and Naruto instantly appeared beside him. standing back to back.

"This is taking longer than I thought," Naruto stated.

"I know," the clone stated. "I'm you. We've got what, three thousand destroyed, right? More must have arrived while we fought."

"I agree," Naruto stated. "We can't keep this up for much longer."

Just the, sand shot up from a point in the distance, catching a dozen statues and reducing them to dust then catching more and destroying them too, all the time growing from the remains of the statues. They looked up and saw Gaara standing on a cliff to their right and he smiled and nodded to them. Kakashi landed a ways a away a moment later and destroyed a dozen clones with his Chidori before creating a clone and their Chidoris connected with a stream of lightning that they pulled through several statues, bisecting them. Lee, Guy, Neji, Sakura, and the rest of the Konoha 11 arrived a moment later and began destroying statues and Naruto and his clone grinned, Naruto releasing the clone. Then, chains made out of golden chakra shot out of the ground restraining a group of clones before Minato smashed a Rasengan into the group, obliterating them.

"We'll handle things up here," Minato stated. "Go help Shion. And Naruto, good job."

Naruto nodded and ran into the temple smiling giddily before recreating his three clones as he felt what was below. As they reached the main chamber far under the mountain the temple had been carved into, they froze. The room was massive, easily a mile across with a floor made up of winding pathways with a section of ground extending out from the wall about an eighth of the way to the middle. In the center, Shion was on her knees and Hinata was standing between her and a sarcophagus that likely held Moryo's body. Naruto sprinted forward but just as he did, several dozen massive glowing purple dragon heads exploded out of the ground around Shion and Hinata. Hinata tried to get to Shion but the ground below the Priestess collapsed and Hinata leapt away from the dragon heads before the rest of the ground at the large circle of ground they had been standing on collapsed revealing a void filled with black chakra. The heads were a dark purple with a light purple aura surrounding them, glowing red eyes, light blue tongues, and the rest of the inside of their mouths glowing a dark blue. Among the heads, there were also several tentacles that ended in sharp points and Naruto had a good feeling that it was one of these that was supposed to kill him.

"Where's Shion?" Naruto questioned when Hinata reached him.

"She fell into the void in the center of the room," Hinata stated holding out her Sword of the Thunder God. "His body is ninety percent chakra."

Naruto nodded and took the sword then looked at his three clones and they all grinned and nodded readying their weapons, the one with the Garian Swords keeping one as a blade.

"Use the snake head as a ranged weapon and pepper the heads you catch with Air Bullets," Naruto ordered and he nodded.

Naruto held Hinata's sword in his left hand and Temujin's in his right, green chakra rolling off of it. The four Narutos leapt into the air and Naruto created several dozen more who all copied one of the original four and leapt at Moryo. They didn't bother with teleporting, the room was too big to. They began tearing into Moryo's body, shredding his tentacles, making him roar in pain and anger before smashing the Narutos backward. As he stood, several Rasengan clones arrived at the floor at the base of the tentacles and blasted the floor. The tentacles faded and lava covered the spots they had been and they exploded up from elsewhere.

"We can't fight it," Naruto growled. "It just regrows. Where's its...Shion."

He leapt into the air, slashing several tentacles and driving Temujin's sword into one of the dragon heads killing it but letting it pull him into the air before he pushed off taking the swords and looking sideways to see a glowing spot on the floor.

"Shion," Naruto grinned. "Found you."

Just then, a spike shot up at him and he realized he wouldn't be able to avoid it. Just as it was about to hit him, a sphere appeared around him blocking the spike which bent around it and shot up above him. The sphere looked like a giant bell and after a second, the spike that had touched it exploded and didn't regrow. A couple dragon heads crashed into it in an attempt to catch him but they too exploded. They did however manage to smash him into the ground, the barrier not protecting him from that. Just as he stood, Hinata appeared beside him, taking her sword and slashing a dragon head as it tried to take a bit out of them.

"I've got to get to Shion," Naruto stated as the original four clones arrived, having survived being thrown by Moryo and waiting on the edge of the room. "They'll protect you while I do. You need to leave. Me and Shion will finish up here. Trust me."

Hinata nodded and left with Naruto's clones and Naruto leapt into the air, three spikes destroying themselves trying to get to him before he created a chain of clones, each with their own shield and he himself fell into the void where he could see Shion, glowing with her power as the Priestess and ready to die to kill Moryo.

"SHION!" Naruto shouted as he neared her and just like that, the light was gone and she looked up at him in shock.

"Naruto?" Shion questioned.

"Time to go!" Naruto shouted as he grabbed her arm and his clones hauled them up out of the void. "You okay?"

"Yes," Shion nodded.

"So how about it?" Naruto questioned. "Are we going to just fade away with this fucker? What do you want to do?"

"I-" Shion began voice barely audible as the clones hurled Naruto and her into the air.

"What's that?" Naruto grinned. "Can't here you."

"I want," Shion began again speaking up then grinning and screaming into his ear, "TO LIVE! ! !"

"Ow," Naruto grinned. "Alright then. Shall we?"

He held his hand out, the bell resting in his palm. Shion held her hand over his understanding and they both channeled as much chakra as they could into the Rasengan forming around the bell. It was blindingly white inside with chakra of every color around it like a cage. After a moment, they had to hold their hands up with the Rasengan above them until they had pumped all of their chakra into it. It was three times the size of them and Moryo was clearly not happy about the Rasengan. On the surface, the others had finished the statues and were retreating as the Naruto clones warned the others that their final plan would likely involve a massive explosion.

"If you don't like the hand fate dealt you," Naruto said to Shion. "Fight for a better one. Now, would you like to do the honors?"

"After you," Shion grinned.

She lowered her hand and held on to Naruto as he flipped them over and began to fall toward Moryo with the Rasengan. As they fell, the dragon heads moved out of their way, avoiding contact with the Rasengan. As they landed, the Rasengan shrunk to the size of a walnut then Naruto teleported to the seal on Hinata's hand just as the Rasengan back inside the temple where he had left it exploded into a massive column of blinding white chakra, obliterating Moryo and turning the mountain into an erupting volcano. Naruto landed on his feet beside Hinata setting Shion down just as the top of the mountain exploded and lava flew out. the others were there as well, all watching the eruption in silence.

"Well it could have played out a lot worse than this, I guess," Kakashi stated after a while.

"They ended up creating a new volcano huh?" Lee chuckled.

"That knucklehead," Shikamaru sighed.

"That's what you get for leaving it up to him," Temari stated.

"Guess this means your days as a Priestess are over huh?" Naruto questioned.

"No," Shion smiled. "Moryo was created from the darkness in people's hearts. One day, he will return. And there's a certain genin I'll need to watch out for. Plus I need to make sure my power is passed on to the next Priestess. How 'bout it Naruto? Want to help out with that?"

"Sorry," Naruto grinned. "I'm not to father type. Plus my heart lies elsewhere. Sorry."

"Is it Hinata?" Shion questioned grinning at Hinata who had been as red as Kushina's hair ever since Shion asked him to have a child with her and who now turned even redder, trying desperately not to look to excited.

"Do you want me to tell Taruho your request was really for him?" Naruto grinned slyly.

"You wouldn't dare!" Shion hissed.

"Try me," Naruto smirked.

"Fine," Shion sighed.

"Just tell him," Naruto grinned. "It'll turn out better than you think."

Shion stared at him for a moment then sighed and walked to Taruho who bowed and they left together, heading home.

"Time to head home," Minato stated.

Naruto nodded but watched the volcano for another minute while the others began to leave. Finally he turned and saw Hinata waiting for him and smiled. They began to head back to the village together, a hundred feet or so behind the others. Naruto's mind kept trying to return to Hinata's near death but he refused to let it.

"Thank you," Hinata finally spoke up. "For saving me."

"Of course," Naruto smiled making Hinata blush. "I can't very well let one of my best friends die can I?"

Hinata's blush grew but she smiled and Naruto did as well. After that, it was a quiet trip back.
