Chapter 15
Ashley was so happy to be done with cheerleading practice, mostly because it meant she could head over to Spencer's, but also because she needed to get away from Madison. All through practice Madison had been doing and saying anything she could think of to get under the brunette's skin. A lot of that involved her bringing up Aiden's name whenever she could. If only Madison knew how little Ashley cared when she did that. She was too focused on a certain girl who gave her butterflies, to be bothered about references to her ex-boyfriend.
"You looked sloppy out there," Madison said while Ashley was gathering up her stuff. "Better watch yourself, Ash."
The brunette looked at Madison's sneering face. She knew she was being goaded into reacting and was going to do her best not to let the other girl get the better of her. "You and Aiden seem to be getting along well."
It was a comment meant to cause a distraction and it worked.
"About that…" Madison started, her demeanor completely changing. Gone was harshness in her tone. It was replaced by such sweetness it seemed fake. "He was talking to me today…" she kept pausing as she spoke trying to gauge what kind of reaction she was getting. "Anyway, apparently Aiden's had a crush on me for a long time…"
Ashley wanted to roll her eyes. She had to fight to give into that instinct. Aiden had mentioned Madison to her numerous times when they were together. Most of those times his comments had been less than flattering. If there was a change in his attitude towards her, Ashley suspected it had more to do with what Madison was willing to do with her ex. That thought disturbed her greatly because she didn't want to think about them together.
Madison was studying Ashley intently hoping to see some jealousy on her part. When she wasn't getting that, she assumed it was because her friend was in shock. "So the things is, he kind of asked me out for this weekend and seeing as you're the one who broke up with him…"
When Madison let the sentence unfinished again, Ashley decided to see if she could speed things along. "Are you looking for my permission to date Aiden?"
"Well, when you say it like that, it sounds kind of crass," Madison let out a very enthusiastic laugh.
"You can do whatever you want," Ashley said, meaning every word that was coming out of her mouth. "If you want to go out with Aiden, you don't need to worry about my feelings. I'm fine."
Madison put her hand on Ashley's shoulder, "You don't have to put on a brave front for me. I'm here for you, you know. And if you don't want me to go out with Aiden, I won't."
"I'm fine," Ashley repeated already bored with this conversation. "But I've got to go. We can talk about this tomorrow if you really want."
With her eyes narrowed, Madison watched Ashley dart out of the change room. It was driving her mad that Ashley had seemingly pulled away from her and was clearly distracted with something else. She wasn't going to let this go until she figured out what was going on.
She messaged Aiden to let him know that he could come and pick her up now that practice was over. Even if Ashley was driving her crazy, that didn't mean she couldn't have a good time.
Ashley felt relieved when she pulled into Spencer's driveway, but soon enough that feeling was replaced with nerves. She told herself that it was something she would have to get used to, as it seemed Spencer brought that out in her. She had just gotten out of the car when she noticed that someone was looking at her.
Spencer felt like the world's biggest dork standing there with the door open. She had heard the brunette's car pull up and raced to open the front door before she could stop herself. The blonde wasn't sure if she liked this change in her behavior, but she seemed powerless to fight it. On the plus side, she was pleasantly surprised to see that Ashley was still in her cheerleading uniform. And, she seemed just as happy to see Spencer as she was to see Ashley.
"I didn't have a chance to change at school," Ashley said when had walked up to meet Spencer at the door.
"Don't apologize," Spencer replied. Her pulse immediately picked up when the brunette walked past her to get inside. She took an appreciate look up and down Ashley's body not really caring if she got caught. "You have nothing to be sorry for."
"Spencer!" Ashley exclaimed slightly embarrassed. When Aiden had made comments about her body it had turned her off. But when Spencer did the same thing it gave her a thrill. "What I was going to ask is if you mind if I shower here."
"Is that an invitation to join you?" Spencer asked with a huge smile and a waggle of her eyebrows. "Because let me tell you my answer is a very enthusiastic yes!"
"Spencer! Stop!" Ashley could feel her red her face must be. It felt like it was on fire.
"I'm just teasing, you know," Spencer said, worried that she had crossed a line. She definitely wouldn't mind seeing Ashley naked in a shower. That much was obvious. But she really wasn't going to try and rush things, and not just because the brunette wanted to wait. There was still uncertainty that hung in the air and fast forwarding to sex wasn't going to get rid of it.
Ashley smiled at how Spencer was furrowing her brow. The last thing she felt was pressure from the other girl. "I know," she leaned and brushed her lips across Spencer's very soft ones. "Hi, by the way."
"Uh, hi," Spencer took that kiss to mean she wasn't in trouble. "You can shower upstairs and I promise not to spy on you," she grabbed the brunette's hand and that made her stomach jolt, "that much."
"You are terrible," Ashley tried to look serious but soon enough she was laughing at how cheeky Spencer was being. Regardless of the comments she was receiving, Ashley felt one hundred percent safe. She wasn't sure if she trusted Spencer so much because of their shared past but she suspected that had a lot to do with it.
Even though Spencer would have loved to keep teasing Ashley, she decided to cut the brunette a break. After giving her a spare towel, she went back to her room to wait for Ashley to be done. As she lay on her bed, Spencer tried really hard not to focus on the fact that Ashley was naked just down the hall from where she was. That would prove to be quite a difficult feat.
Ashley finished her shower as quick as she could. After she got dressed in yoga pants and a t-shirt she tied her hair up in a loose ponytail. When she had looked herself over in the mirror a few times, and was sufficiently happy with her results, she made her way to the blonde's room. She could already feel the anticipation of what was going to happen next.
"Took you long enough," Spencer joked when she heard Ashley coming down the hall. "I mean exactly how long…" she stopped talking when Ashley made an appearance in the door frame. Spencer felt like some out of control hormonal teenage boy with the less than innocent thoughts that came rushing into her brain. It wasn't her fault though. It was Ashley's fault for looking so damn good.
Ashley dropped her bag on the floor on her way over to Spencer's bed. Putting up with Madison's crap was always going to be worth it if the reward she got was having the blonde to come over to. She had barely gotten her knee on the mattress before she was yanked forward by a very eager Spencer.
Soon enough Spencer had Ashley beneath her. No more words were exchanged because their mouths were busy doing something else a lot more pleasurable.
"Fuck," Spencer groaned after she had rolled off a panting Ashley. She had no desire to stop what her and the brunette had been doing but she needed a breather if she was going to control herself. "You are really good at that."
Ashley got an immense sense of pride after hearing that. It certainly helped quell the insecurity she had from Spencer being much more experienced than she was. "You're not so bad yourself."
Spencer rolled back on her side, her head propped up by her hand. She loved seeing how out of breath the brunette was. Her eyes fell upon Ashley's exposed midriff. It proved to be too much of a temptation. Her free hand was soon touching the skin she could see. Her touch wasn't that hard but it was enough to cause Ashley's muscles to constrict.
She let out a soft moan and her eyes immediately closed. Spencer's fingers were lightly grazing her abs and it was causing the blood in Ashley's body to head south. It felt amazing.
With fascination, Spencer watched the way the brunette reacted to what she was doing. In all her previous encounters she'd never gotten so much pleasure from touching any of those girls. It had been more of a selfish venture to get what she could before she moved on. Being with Ashley was so different. When she was done teasing Ashley, Spencer leaned over to place a soft kiss where her fingers had just been.
Ashley's eyes opened back up. She was a little disappointed that the blonde had stopped touching her but she appreciated that she was holding back. It was so nice to be with someone who didn't make her feel bad all the time.
"How was cheerleading practice?" Spencer asked.
Ashley laughed. "You really care about that?"
"Well, you clearly do so I was trying to be polite," Spencer replied. Her once biting tongue was now being sarcastic without being cruel. "I can be nice."
"I'm not saying you can't be," Ashley hesitated unsure if she should tell Spencer what happened. She figured that the blonde had asked and holding things back wasn't the best way to keep what they had going. "Well, Madison yelled at me pretty much the whole time, so that was fun. Then, when we had finished, she cornered me to ask my permission to go out with Aiden."
Spencer's mouth fell open. "She what?"
"You heard me correctly." Ashley shook her head. Saying it out loud made it sound so much worse.
"What the hell? I can't understand what-" Spencer stopped herself before she went on a rant. "Are you OK?"
"I am more than fine, honest," Ashley said meaning every word. That fact that she was not feeling jealous at all about Madison wanting to date Aiden confirmed yet again that breaking up with him was the right decision. "If Aiden wants to take on Madison and all the drama she comes with, then that's his problem."
Spencer could feel her temper rising. "That girl is such a bitch. I don't understand why she has any friends let alone being someone people fall all over themselves to get on her good side." The words were barely out of her mouth before the blonde regretted that she often lacked a filter when it came to speaking her mind. It wasn't that she was wrong, but Spencer realized that being right and being kind were two different things. "Sorry, Ash, I should really watch-"
"You have nothing to apologize for, you're absolutely right," Ashley agreed. "I've been an absolute idiot."
"A hot idiot," Spencer joked trying to keep things light.
Ashley chuckled. "I won't disagree with that."
"And modest too!" Spencer exclaimed with an eye roll. "Maybe I better stop giving you compliments so I can keep that ego of yours in check."
"I don't suggest you do that," Ashley warned, her eyes darkening. "You never know what things I might want to stop doing if your compliments dry up."
Spencer recognized a challenge. She moved back on top of Ashley, her smirk firmly intact. "Is that right?" She quirked her eyebrow and then thrust herself into the brunette. "You really want to try out that theory."
Ashley's eyes rolled back in her head. "No, I uh, no, I would uh want…"
"That's what I thought," Spencer rested her whole body weight on Ashley. Then she pinned the other girls' arms above her head. She loved hearing the moan that came as a result of having Ashley at her mercy.
She placed the lightest kisses on Ashley's lips, resisting the urge to deepen any of the kisses. Ashley grunted in frustration but at the same time she was enjoying Spencer being in control. Eventually she needed to touch the other girl. With a lot of effort she wrenched her hands free.
Spencer was going to admonish Ashley for not letting her have any fun. That was until she felt the brunette's hands pull her shirt up. Ashley was all over Spencer's back, her touch burning into Spencer's skin. They weren't kissing at this point, but Spencer was looking down at Ashley, her eyes focused on the other girl.
Wanting to correct the serious lack of kissing, Ashley tried to bring Spencer's head down to meet hers, but the blonde wouldn't move. It was maddening but also made her body throb at the same time. Aiming to up the ante, Ashley's hands made their way to the Spencer's stomach and the sound that came from Spencer's lips when she did that, was more than satisfying.
Spencer felt Ashley move higher and higher up her shirt until the brunette was almost at her bra. She couldn't take it anymore. With a lot of reluctance, Spencer sat up so she was straddling Ashley. Although not a bad position to be in, what she really wanted was something else. Ashley practically whined at the lack of contact, it was of great importance that Spencer get back down to her. Spencer kept her eyes focused on the brown ones that were locked onto what she was doing. She grabbed the bottom of her own shirt, then with a nod asked for the other girl's permission.
Ashley nodded right away when she realized what Spencer wanted to do. She watched in amazement as the blonde lifted her shirt over her head. Her expression soon changed to something more lustful when she was gazing up at a shirtless Spencer. It was probably not polite to stare, but Ashley could not help herself. Seeing Spencer in just her bra was the best thing she had ever seen in her whole life.
The change in Ashley's expression sent tingles all over Spencer's body. As much as she appreciated getting ogled, there were other things that the blonde wanted to do. She lowered herself back on Ashley and then kissed her very hard.
"Thanks for dinner," Ashley said when she finished eating. Her growling stomach had put a temporary halt to what was an incredibly hot and satisfying make out session. She hadn't wanted to stop things but unfortunately the sound of hunger pains proved to be a mood killer.
"I made you a sandwich," Spencer replied dryly. "It's not something can you can write home about."
"It was a delicious sandwich," Ashley countered with a smile. She sort of hoped that Spencer might keep her shirt off while she ate but that hadn't been the case. "Maybe you can study to be a chef."
"So you do have a problem with me being a garbage collector?" Spencer teased hoping to get a rise out of the other girl. "I knew you were too stuck up for me."
"You enjoy giving me a hard time too much," Ashley pouted. It was really nice to be able to banter with Spencer without feeling personally attacked.
Spencer got up to take Ashley's plate to the sink. The other girl's pout was too much for her to resist so that earned Ashley a soft kiss on the forehead for her troubles.
Ashley's mouth quickly changed into a smile. It was ridiculous how happy she felt. "Do you really want to be a garbage collector?" she asked out of genuine curiosity. "Not that there's anything wrong with that."
"I have no idea what I want to do after school," Spencer admitted before she returned to the kitchen table. "I just said that to bother you."
"Yeah, I figured as much," Ashley went back to pouting. "Apparently teasing me is something of sport of you."
Spencer stood up and made her way over to where the brunette was sitting. She pulled Ashley chair away from the table and then climbed on top of the other girl's lap. "Do you have a problem with that?"
"Not at all!" Ashley said quickly. She would never complain if the teasing she received from Spencer resulted in her getting straddled by the blonde. A thought popped into Ashley's mind that resulted in her asking a question before she could stop herself. "Aren't you worried about your dad coming home and walking in on us?"
The reaction from Spencer was immediate. Her whole body stiffened and her smile vanished. This was a topic she never wanted to discuss, let alone a topic she felt comfortable bringing up with Ashley. She was too sensitive about it.
"Shit, sorry," Ashley apologized as soon as she saw and felt the reaction her question had caused. She wanted to kick herself for opening her big mouth. "I didn't mean to-"
"It's fine," Spencer was anything but fine and that much was obvious to both girls. There was a complete change in her demeanor. Suddenly being so close to Ashley felt claustrophobic, not amazing. "I'm fine."
It didn't take a genius to figure out Spencer was lying. Even without the chill in the blonde's tone, Ashley could read her body language and it was anything but inviting. She had no idea how to fix the mistake her words had caused.
Spencer got up from Ashley's lap. She need space to breathe. It was like the walls were closing in on her and she had nowhere to run. This couldn't be happening. Her dad had screwed up enough things in Spencer's life, how was it fair that he was ruining her time with Ashley. The blonde began to panic. "I need to go."
"Go where?" Ashley asked. She was starting to get really worried. "Spencer, just forget I said anything, OK? I'm not going to push you or-"
Spencer wasn't listening; she was too focused on getting away. Without another word to Ashley, she walked out the front door, slamming it behind her.
Ashley's head was spinning with how in an instant what had been a great time was now something out of control. She had no idea what to do.
Follow Spencer and risk getting yelled at, or let the blonde be?
Either way, Ashley was sure that her decision was not going to lead to good things.
