Gods and Demons
A massive column of blood red chakra exploded off of Naruto, shooting into the sky.
"Yes, know pain," Pein sneered as he watched the chakra. "Do you hate me now?"
Two glowing red eyes appeared, glaring at Pein before a mouth opened below them and a terrible roar rang out. Naruto's skin began to peel off and disintegrate. The column fell to a sphere and Naruto grit his teeth growling.
"The power of the Nine-tails," Pein muttered. "Rage summons him forth."
Naruto began to push himself up, the metal rods snapping and shattering. Then, he pushed himself up completely and his body exploded into a mass of red chakra before it condensed into Naruto's Nine-tails Cloak, four tails sprouting behind him. His left shoulder bulged before several bodies grew out of it, one of them spinning and sending a tornado at Pein. Pein blocked the attack and the chakra retracted into Naruto before he held his arms at his sides and roared, the ground in front of him beginning to rise, massive roots still clinging to the bottoms of it. Each chunk of ground had a massive chakra hand lifting it and soon Pein stepped forward as the hands returned to Naruto as a slab of stone landed between them like a wall. Naruto began spinning, his hands smashing into the wall and launching massive pieces at Pein. Pein began spinning past them, using his power to cut two before holding his arms in front of himself as three crashed into his barrier. As the dust settled, a massive chunk of stone smashed into Pein, but he had managed to sustain his ability just long enough for the chunk to shatter. The moment it was out of the way, Naruto's fist crashed into his face and launched him away. However, he landed in a series of backward handsprings before leaping to the top of one of the massive pieces of stone. Just as he landed, one of Naruto's tails smashed the chunk he was on and Naruto's two massive hands caught half of it as Pein landed, moving to run sideways. As he took his third step, Naruto began smashing the chunk of stone down on him, beating him into the ground like a nail.
"Do you hate me now?" Pein questioned as Naruto through the chunk of stone into the air then clapped, crushing it into dust.
Pein rose out of the ground, jumping to the top of a boulder.
"Do you still believe people can ever truly understand each other?" Pein questioned.
"Something is resisting my efforts to progress," Kurama informed Naruto. "I set something up to deal with it. It should happen right about...now."
Just then, a sphere of blood red chakra fell from the sky, hitting Naruto as more chakra appeared around them, solidifying into bones quickly forming a fox's skeleton. Then, two of the tails split in two, making six tails. Then, the skull that had appeared around his head dropped open and Pein noticed his mouth moving.
I'm going to fucking kill you!
Chakra began to pour out of Naruto's mouth as the two combatants glared at each other.
"Then as you wish," Pein muttered. "But know this. My pain, is still far greater than YOURS!"
He punched the ground and a moment later, a geyser of water exploded up from the point of impact before more began exploding out of the massive chunks Naruto had torn up from the ground. A massive wave swept across the ground, hitting Naruto hard but he remained still. Pein, who stood on top of the water, watched Naruto carefully.
"Let's go," Pein shouted sprinting forward.
There was steam blocking his view, so he didn't see the chakra hands flying at him until they were almost on him. He leapt over them and more flew at him. He rolled out of the way, still airborne. He landed and began jumping and running along the water as the chakra hands tried to hit him or crush him. After a few seconds, he slipped between two massive chunks of ground, skating across the water while dodging the chakra arms. Suddenly, one came into view in front of him and he only barely managed to leap over it, landing on the arm itself before jumping off. He landed in a roll, stopping on his stomach and holding his hands out. Sure enough, several dozen blasts of red chakra shot out of the mist and crashed into the barrier Pein had erected around himself. After a moment, it ended. Pein released his barrier, having run out of time.
"Is that all you've got?" Pein scoffed just as a massive sphere shot out, breaking up into well over three dozen.
The blasts began raining down around Pein, blasting him and sending him flying away. He landed on his rear and held his hand out, ready for any attack that may or may not be coming.
"Not bad," Pein mumbled as the mist cleared enough for him to see Naruto.
Pein leapt into the air, flipping upside down and spinning, sending out a blast that severed the roots holding up the chunk of rubble Naruto now stood under. It fell instantly, crashing down on top of Naruto. A moment later, the broke up through the top, tangled in the roots that were inside the stone. He began trying to break free as Pein hurled a rod the size of a javelin at him. After a moment, the chakra in Naruto's Nine-tails Cloak spiked, shattering Pein's makeshift javelin as a massive bonfire erupted to life, burning the roots. Naruto roared in rage as he ripped the roots out of the stone, scattering burning pieces of them throughout the water. Just then, the necklace responsible for resisting Kurama's attempts to increase the number of tails he had in his shroud began to glow. Green chakra shot out of the necklace, wrapping around him and restraining him.
"Can't...move!" Kurama, who had been in control growled.
Naruto took limited control, grabbing the necklace and ripping it off. Then, he crushed it. The chakra instantly faded and Kurama retook control, floating down to the water, growling at Pein. Then, he blurred into motion, shooting across the water and vanishing behind a massive wave of water that put out the fires on the root pieces before moving toward Pein. Pein looked around and saw Naruto shooting across the water toward him and jumped onto a nearby boulder as the water began to swell and roll, the boulder floating unsteadily. Less than a second later, two chakra hands shot out of a wall of water in front of him. He blocked two punches just as one of Naruto's tails smashed the stone below him. He landed on his feet and growled in frustration.
"Almighty Push!" Pein shouted forcing the water and stone away from himself in a massive circle.
Then, a hole opened in front of him and a chakra hand shot out, gripping his head. Naruto's tails shot out of the ground around Pein as Naruto gripped his head with his other hand as well, beginning to pull himself through the hole, barely able to resist Pein's power. Pein smacked Naruto's hands off of his head then punched Naruto but Naruto stayed put. After a moment, Naruto began to move forward and Pein's attempts to repel Naruto backfired, launching him backward into the water then up to the surface, bouncing along the surface for over a mile, before reaching the edge of the water and bouncing along the ground. He smashed through two boulders before finally slamming head first into a cliff. His body went rigid, twitching and extending straight out from the cliff before falling limp seconds before the cliff collapsed on him. Naruto landed on the surface, moving slowly toward Pein as the dust began to settle. Finally, Naruto stopped as the edge of the water, beginning to form a Tailed Beast Ball. Just as he did, Pein's hands shot out of the ground clapping as a massive section of cliff exploded free and rose into the air.
"Universal Pull!" Pein shouted sitting up from underground, the cliff floating over Naruto before falling.
It crashed down on his unfinished Tailed Beast Ball and a moment later, a massive explosion shook the ground as a massive dome of red chakra shot up around him, forming a massive crater. Smoke shot into the air, glowing red from the explosion. After a few minutes, the smoke cleared and Pein stood from the rubble, the left side of his cloak's torso gone along with his sleeve and forehead protector. Seconds later, Naruto's tails began to wrap around the piece of cliff Pein had dropped on him and he began to crawl out from under it, growling.
"The Nine-tails' power," Pein mused. "It's magnificent."
Pein turned and fled just as Naruto smashed the piece of cliff, water instantly surging after him. Pein began to dash through the forest and looked to the left to see Naruto dashing alongside him, keeping pace with ease. After a moment, Naruto darted toward him, ripping up several trees as he went, attacking Pein as fast as he could but still Pein managed to jump off the cliff to his right, escaping harm. He landed lightly and jumped from one rock to another before flying forward as Naruto arrived and followed. Finally, Pein stopped on a fallen tree in a swampy area and looked around. Then, he slipped inside a hollow tree, placing his hands together.
"Planetary Devastation," Pein growled spreading his hands as a tiny black ball of chakra formed between them.
He closed his right hand around it, holding it out of the tree and let go. The sphere flew away and up into the air as two blasts of chakra shot out of the trees demolishing the one Pein was hidden in. He leap tout of the way, his hands together again as he did a back flip and landed on his feet.
"Planetary Devastation!" Pein said again as the sphere began to glow.
The ground around them began to break apart and rise into the air, as Pein spread his hands and held them over his head. Naruto sprinted forward as larger and larger chunks of the ground shot into the air toward the sphere. Pein held his hand out and blasted Naruto back as stones wrapped around him, encasing him in a ball of pure stone. A second later, a beam of chakra shot out, carving through several pieces of stone before reaching Pein who blocked it with a metal rod. After a second, the blast was reflected and hit Naruto, blasting him out of the ball of stone. Just as he landed, the chunk of stone he was on broke free and shot into the air and a moment later, the mountains around Pein followed suit. Naruto fired a blast of chakra at Pein. The rising mountain blocked it so Naruto fired several more that began raining down around Pein. He dropped to one knee, walls of stone shooting up around him just as a blast hit them.
Naruto looked back up at the sphere and realized it was now almost a sphere of stone, only a few places missing. He began rapid firing chakra blasts at it, demolishing the stone around the sphere in massive craters. Then, the stone he was standing on broke apart and he slammed into the sphere of stone, several tons of rock crashing into him as he tried to push himself up. Finally it stopped, the last of the stones that were still airborne falling away. Pein watched the sphere and grinned. The smile faded as eight tails exploded out of the sphere followed by the Nine-tails minus its fur and flesh.
"I can't believe it's this strong," Pein muttered.
The Nine-tails roared, flames shooting out of its mouth and in a massive stream. The result sent flaming boulders raining down at Pein but he deflected them all.
Then, Naruto was inside of his mind. The seal on his stomach was present and the spiral had opened into a circle, a black substance pouring out of it into the water that made up the floor, turning it black.
"I'm at eight tails," Kurama stated. "Nine comes when you remove the seal from the gate but that will kill you and free me. For now, just watch."
A screen appeared and Naruto saw The Nine-tails looking around for Pein. Just as soon as the screen appeared, so did an older man with a pointed brown beard, a black bodysuit with mesh over his shins and forearms, silver pauldrons, gauntlets, and a splinted helmet covered by his bandanna style forehead protector. Naruto recognized him from several pictures and the Hokage Monument.
"You," Kurama growled.
"Lord Hiruzen," Naruto gasped. "How are you-"
He was cut off by Hiruzen driving his hand into Naruto's abdomen and twisting, closing the seal again.
"I did not die just for you to give up control willingly," Hiruzen growled.
"I did no such thing!" Naruto snapped.
"The boy and I came to an agreement," Kurama growled. "I would be allowed to go as far as Eight Tails, if I killed Pein, leader of the Akatsuki."
"I was not talking to you, DEMON!" Hiruzen spat earning a punch to the stomach from Naruto.
"Be nice," Naruto growled. "Tailed Beast or not, Kurama has saved my life more times than anyone. You will not disrespect him inside of my mind."
"You stupid child," Hiruzen growled. "He means to free himself. He will always mean to free himself. He will use you any you will fall victim to it. Do not make the mistake of thinking that he is your friend."
"Shut up and get out of my head," Naruto ordered. "I've had enough of you already."
"Very well," Hiruzen sighed. "I will not be closing that seal again. Do try not to make any more deals with this demon."
And with that, Hiruzen was gone.
"Asshole," Naruto growled. "I'll handle Pein from here Kurama. And thank you."
