Bella's Point of View
I arrived at home and stopped in my tracks at the receiving hall when Renée shouted my name.
"Don't you dare walk away from me, young lady." She warned as she caught up to me. "This isn't something to joke about. Pregnancy is serious for someone at your age and I'm not kidding."
I turned to face her. "I know this is serious and you don't have to tell me. Mom, now it isn't all about me. It's about the baby too, and if you can't accept that, I will gladly leave this house for New York so that I can go back, tell Edward he's going to be a father, and finally live in peace. I don't need any interference from you from now on, but if you want, you can give me some space for me to breathe because I feel like I'm choking every single time you try to talk to me. Whenever you do, it's always about what I can't do and any pressing matter that always seem to have to be about me. Honestly, if you keep thinking I'm such a problem, why didn't you just leave me in New York instead? We all could have been happier than we now are." I snapped.
She glared at me and her hand dug into her handbag. "You leave me no choice but to call your father. Now that my peace has been broken because of what your whirlwind romance with that criminal has caused, I will have to decide on what I should do with you."
"Call Dad, then!" I sarcastically shouted at her. "Call Dad and tell him to fetch me when I reach back in NY! We'd be so much happier without you in our lives! The fact that you didn't let Dad appeal for custody over me is now hanging over you while you bathe in regret, isn't it? It's because I am such a horrible daughter who stirs trouble up! I date the wrong guys and fell in love with a mob boss! I'm knocked up with his kid and I'm sixteen! All you're thinking about is what people will think of you, aren't you? A mother who didn't bother to keep in touch with her daughter for four years straight while she was growing up and now her daughter's making all the wrong decisions that some time in her life she'll find herself on the road to ruins! How nice of a story that would be in the society pages of this fancy little town. The women at the country club would now have something else to gossip about during teatime." I sneered.
She was breathing heavily as she dialed my father's number and managed to get through. This was the first contact she has ever made to anyone back in New York for the past few months.
"Charlie?" She said as she continued to look at me with such intensity and fury. "Your daughter is four months pregnant with that man's baby."
I took that time to go up to my bedroom and throw a week's worth of clothes inside my suitcase. Tears were running down my face, but it felt so good to finally let everything out. My heart felt a little more lighter than it had been. Now I just needed some space to clear my head and not even Renée wasn't going to stop me.
I pulled my bags down the grand marble staircase and found her still there on the phone with my father. She seemed to be in a heated conversation with him, but she took a good look at me and her eyes widened when she saw my suitcase.
"Where do you think you're going?" She asked.
"I'm going to London for a few days." I muttered without even casting at her a glance. "Don't worry, you don't need to see me while you settle the problems I've made."
I grabbed the keys to the black Range Rover on the side table and got into the car that was already at the porch. She didn't need to worry since there was the same car in white at the garage to use. As I drove down to London, I booked a suite at a hotel for a week before I arrived. When I arrived in the heart of the city, I stopped to make a call at the public telephone booths that were provided.
"Bella, is that you?" Rosalie immediately asked.
"Rose, it's me." I nodded.
"Oh my god." Her breath hitched. "You stupid bitch, everyone here has been trying to look for you for months. I can't believe you're pregnant. Why didn't you try to contact us when you found out?"
"News got to you fast, huh?"
"Alice got a call from your father and now we're all getting ready to take a flight to London. Where are you?"
"I'm staying at a hotel for now." I said, then told her all the details. "How has everyone been?"
"That fucking stunt you pulled months ago was not cool. Edward's been going crazy trying to find you. Now that I know where we're going to find you, you've just lightened the stress I'm in."
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
"That's okay. How did you get to London without Renée knowing?"
"Renée knows, but I guess she's just allowing me to have some time to myself. I'll be here for a week." I told her. "I'll just see you guys at the airport— how about that?"
"I've never been more enthusiastic to see you again. See you later." She told me.
"Yeah, see you." I said before hanging up.
I felt the adrenaline run through my veins as I stood in my heels, waiting for any announcement for the flight Rosalie said they boarded. I contemplated on what I would do if I saw all of them, including Edward.
The moment I heard an announcement that the flight had already landed was when I felt my lips turn up into a big smile and my heart thudded faster. I didn't know how long I had waited.
I first saw Alice's recognizable black pixie haircut as she dragged her suitcase. She was wearing a dark glittery crop top with a blazer and a pair of dress pants with her heels. Covering her face was a big pair of sunglasses.
She lifted her sunglasses up and her eyes widened. I walked big strides towards her and hugged her tightly. "Oh my god, I've missed you so much." I said as she hugged me back.
"I hate you so much! Don't ever pull that on us again." She replied, her voice muffled. She pulled away and placed her hand on my stomach. I knew what was her question when she looked at me with curious eyes.
"Yes, I'm really pregnant." I answered her silent question.
"But aren't you worried?" She pursed her lips.
"I do get worried sometimes, but I'm fine. I want this." I held her hand in mine and looked her in the eye. "I promise."
"Where's the pregnant lady?!" I heard Emmett's recognizable voice and we both looked up. I laughed when I saw him dressed in a black turtleneck shirt and jeans, approaching us swiftly and he grabbed me, lifting me off the ground and hugging me. "Bella, long time no see! How's the kid?"
"Doing fine, but not born yet. It's awesome to see you again, Em. Where's Rose?" I asked when he put me down again.
"I'm here, you bitch. Come here!" Rosalie hugged me tightly out of nowhere. She was in skinny jeans and a red sweater with Uggs. "Can I punch you in the face?"
"No, and if you do, I'll buy you a ticket out of London immediately." I warned playfully.
She nudged me in the shoulder. "As if. Come on, where's your ex now?" She looked behind her shoulder.
I grimaced. I nearly forgot that I was the one who left him. I wasn't sure if he wanted to see me again after that phonecall.
"Oh wait, there he is. He's taking his bags now." She said, pointing through the glass that showed the passengers that just arrived in the country.
Edward was taking his bags from the conveyor belt and passing through security. I almost forgot how breathtakingly good-looking he was with his fiery bronze hair, intense green eyes, high & sharp cheekbone, his straight nose and his full soft shell-pink lips. He wore a gray Stanford University sweater and jeans, reminding me of our very first date when we wore our college tops accidentally. He was glancing around the area as he carried his bags past the security.
"Does he know I'm here?" I asked Rosalie.
"I didn't want to tell him anyways, so I decided to keep it as a surprise." She shrugged.
As he came closer to us, I felt the need to restrain myself from running to him. My breaths were turning shallow as I could see the nearly-invisible scar from his ear down to his jaw. He was so close after so many months of not seeing his face. Emmett, Rosalie & Alice went silent when he was near us, and I think he realized that because he looked around to find the source of what made them quiet.
His green eyes had me in his invisible grasp when he looked at me.
Okay, so a pretty early update since my brain was on caffeine last night because I was busy watching the American Music Awards. I'm always into awards' season and it's that time when my eye bags get heavier and I get much less sleep. Sigh.
Now I'm just looking for breakfast now and I'll be back next Monday for another update!
xx
