A/N: There is an EQUEL! Lol, I do not know what else to call it, as it is not a sequel or a prequel to this story. It is this story, only told through Sesshoumaru's perspective. It is called Endlessly Bound (the reverse of this story's name). If you would like to know what is going on in Sesshoumaru's head during this story, feel free to hop on over to that story and find out! As always, thank you for reading and reviewing and sticking with me! Hugs & Kisses, Frenchflutter.

Chapter 102: Stay

Kagome woke in the middle of the night to the sound of a crackling fire. Blinking against the harsh light, she jolted up and started moving backwards. Something was wrong, it was too close. The fire was mere feet from where she was sleeping. Fire? How could there be a fire?

"Stay, Miko. You are safe."

"Sess... Sesshoumaru..." Kagome choked out in her panic, quickly looking around to find him. He was seated in the exact spot he had been in before when she had fallen asleep. In her haste to move away from the fire, she had nearly backed into him. "How?"

"How what?"

"How is there a fire?"

"Wood burns, Miko."

Kagome huffed indignantly, "I know that, but all the wood was too wet to start a fire with."

"I started one."

"Why?! And with wet wood?"

Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes. She was speaking too much, asking too many questions, she was aware.

"The wood atop the mountains was dry."

"Oh! Still doesn't explain why you started a fire though. Were you cold?"

"This Sesshoumaru does not succumb to the weather, unlike humans."

Realization dawned on her. He had started the fire... for her.
