Hey there! :)
Oh, do take note that You're The Best Thing I Never Knew I Needed and A Blonde Sidekick Among Monsters will be updated this week. Just wait! ^_^
March 10, 2013.
On that day, I was nervous as hell. I've been reading lots of fan-fictions for at least two years. At first, I was enjoying a lot, but as time goes by, my thirst for good stories was gradually growing. Though I have read many great quality fan-fics, I felt that it's not enough. And when I realized that most of the stories I'm currently reading weren't enough, I finally decided to make a move. So, for that afternoon, I quickly wrote a short prologue to a story that didn't even have a defined plot. It was so hastily made that I feared that most people would flame me.
But unknown to me, this was the start of a beautiful journey.
And a year after that, I can definitely say that I'm very thankful for taking the initiative. Although I've been saying this one all the time, I will never be tired of thanking for everyone who enjoyed everything I've written. Because of you guys, I kept myself from abandoning writing forever.
I would like to give my thanks to those people who Reviewed, Followed, and put this story in their Favoritelist: Granholm, AngelicInkLing, Beckman, Outlaw Knight, Xde009, Ben Blader, justheree, Animogx, chinas, RJay Fame, squirtle46, xavierp, crash2663, SonOfLucifer, pattie03, cruel vamp, zafnak, YungProdaG, cyber dragoness master, NaruHarem4ever, and Satsujinki Nanaya.
Anyways, let's get this party started, shall we? My name's kmtdiccion and welcome to the revival of the story...

Chapter 1
"The Past, The Present, and The Future"
The sun was shining up above the skies of Middleton as rays of bright light caused the blonde boy to wake up. Sparrows glide through the air, chirping morning heralds about the upcoming new day. There were few cars passing by the street and joggers on the sidewalks. One can say that it is a picturesque view worthy on a canvass. And indeed, it was such a sight to behold. It was so beautiful that even Ron decided to sleep again, not wanting to disrupt the scenery.
But then, his alarm clock rang a sickeningly loud and painfully continuous alarm. That made his eyes to shot wide. Groaning, Ron pressed the top button, hoping to end the noise. But unfortunately, it didn't. Instead, the sound grew louder. He tried pushing the buttons again but it was still no use. Ron's eyes were now seeing red, he gripped the cord and pulled the plug with force. But to no avail, the clock was still ringing. He then realized something:
"Oh... My... THIS DEMONIC THING HAS BATTERIES! MAKE IT STOP! Gahh!" Ron thought as he pulls his hair out.
When he looks at the clock again, he could really swear it was grinning at him. Having enough of this madness, he took the clock, and pound it to pieces. His anger took over his body as he continues to break the thing that destroyed his morning. Unconsciously, blue fiery aura was starting to appear around him. If anyone could see him at that moment, they would be shocked or scared. Good thing no one really saw him using the power right?
You guessed it wrong.
"Honey, what are you doing inside t- OH MY GOD!" Mrs. Stoppable opened the door, curious and exasperated about the loud banging on the floor, and gasped at the sight of her son, her very kind and soft son, pulverizing the clock into millions of pieces, with a bluish glow energy that was shaping like a monkey.
And what is the best reaction of a forty-something year old woman seeing her son enveloped in energy, destroying a thing as trivial as an alarm clock?
The answer is simple: She fainted.
Ron, noticing his unconscious mother lying on the ground. He quickly stood up, unknowingly dissipating the energy he released earlier, and helped his mother to sit on his bed. Ron rushed towards the bathroom, soaking the cloth with water. To make a long story short, The Stoppable family was having their 'normal' morning as usual.
After all the ruckus, everyone settled with a smirking father, a triumphant grin coming from the mother, and a bruised and muttering Ronald Dean Stoppable, they proceeded with eating their breakfast. In Ron's plate were three stacked pieces of pancakes with dripping honey and a cube of butter on top. He also has two pieces of toasted bread and a mug of hot chocolate. Ron downed all of that in just over a minute. Ron sighed happily as he savor the sweet flavor his food tasted.
When the Stoppable family were finished with their meals, the patriarch was set out to his work office in downtown Middleton. His mother, meanwhile, will be attending a small reunion of sorts with her friends. That leaves the freckled teen alone inside the household.
"Hmm..." Ron thought to himself while rubbing his chin as he thinks what he will be doing for the day.
"Wait a minute... I think I'm missing something important... But what?..." He stared at nothingness until his sight winded up with the calendar pinned on the wall. There was a big red circle drawn at the date today with red bold letters written 'Ron Night!' His eyes went wide when he suddenly remembered the importance this night will be.
But...
His face went south when he quickly remembered his current circumstance: Kim wouldn't be there.
The two were inseparable from the moment they met each other inside the confines of the pre-school classroom. Kim saved him from the bullies and went on playing with a big red ball. From strangers, two children quickly became the best of friends a week later. The bond the two shared gets stronger as they overcome every trial together. And by the time they reached high school, they were having a special connection unlike anything one could ever dream of.
But it was during this time things got complicated. Like any adolescent undergoing puberty, the redhead girl started having physical, emotional, and intellectual changes. And what made things worse, the ways of society is starting to get between the two. Ever since Kim joined the cheerleader's team, which she passed with flying colors, her social status shot up to the cream of the crop. Her excellent performance during tests and her beautiful face added more to her fame.
Unfortunately, Ron wasn't blessed like her. From the point where he takes initiative of saving her from the bullies, which sort of worked, his growth plateaued. And what's worse is that he's starting to slack off when the two started entering high school. His average grades slipped down to barely passing D's. He always come off to students as awkward and very weird. It wasn't that the blond started shrinking, but rather he stopped growing, making him smaller than the rest of his peers.
But despite that, it didn't stop him from developing a new found feeling buried deep inside his heart.
He was starting to fall in love with her. Ron bitterly admitted this to himself as he went back to his bed. The blonde can't believe how untimely this happened. Apparently, his best friend is happy and in love with her new hottie boyfriend: Eric Matthews.
Ron never liked that guy but he had to admit that he's really nice. Though many girls swoon with his slick looks and tantalizing stares, he was far different from those 'usual' popular boy types. Eric is an athlete but he never brag about it. He also excel in his studies but he would be glad to give Ron some tutorials on how to solve problems, though the freckled teen always decline. He has proven to Kim and everyone that he's actually after knowing her better than just looks or fame. Ron sees how great he is that Ron started to feel bitter against him.
"Pff... He's great but I just can't stand it! Why did he have to come here and steal KP?" He asked to himself as he continued to stare randomly on his room.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
The phone beside him began to ring, forcing Ron out of his mind. He grabbed the headset of the phone and greeted "Hello, this is Ron speaking."
"Ron! I've missed you so much." The feminine voice spoke giddily on the other line.
"Oh, really? I'm sorry, T. I guess I've been slacking off more than usual." Ron replied while rubbing his neck with embarrassment.
Tara King, or simply T like what Ron likes to call her, was one of the silent girls of the popular Middleton Cheering Squad. Most students can recall Kim or Bonnie, but there's few who can remember her name. To the whole student body, she's a cheerleader and she's up in the food chain but doesn't care what her identity is. She was always seen as a timid girl who was very bashful and a bit clumsy, in cheering standards. But for Ron, he thinks that she's a diamond buried underneath.
It was quite coincidental how the two started talking. Ron was watching them practice when he realized that the platinum blonde was about to fall. With his mad running-away skills, he barely caught her in his arms, making her avoid a big blow to her back. When he helped her to stand up, the blonde, together with his pet mole rat, were focused on making sure if she's okay. Tara just smiled and told him she's okay. Though it may sound cliche, but at that moment, he never thought that a great friendship was born.
"... Are you in your pity fiesta again, huh Ron? I told you to stop doing that." Tara scolded him with a stern tone.
"What? No... Psh... I was just... Uh... I was just... studying. Yeah..."
"Oh, really?"
"W-Well..." He said weakly when he heard her sigh.
"Anyways, I needed to talk to you. Can you meet me in the park thirty minutes from now?" Ron noticed the change of emotion she was feeling based on her voice. It sounded like she was saddened. Feeling the seriousness on whatever she wanted to say, Ron responded:
"Sure thing, T. I'll be there."
"I... Thank you, Ron... Thank you."
"No big!"
Hanging the call up, The blonde quickly took a shower and readied a new set of clothes, which is basically his daily uniform that consists of his red hockey jersey, a black undershirt, and brown cargo pants. A few minutes after, he was all squeaky clean and ready to go out. He picked Rufus up from a table and let him go inside his pocket. He took his keys and locked the door. While walking, thoughts of his friend came popping up.
"Hmm... What happened to T? Is something wrong?" He mused as he walked past the road leading towards Middleton Park. When he realized he was too early for their supposed meeting time, he decided to visit one of the place only he and Kim knows.
You see, not far from their houses lies an open space for kids to play and have fun. And within that vacant lot is a tree with a small tree house. It was painted with white on the outside and light brown on the inside. There is a rope ladder hanging from the hole where one enters and exits. Ron smiled fondly when he remembered how scared he was for climbing it.
"Well... I guess I might as well be here until Tara arrives... Ooh! I can see her from there." Ron approached the oak tree and started climbing. He wanted to remember 'the old days' when they were both carefree from opinions. He wanted to reminisce their, his and Kim's, fun-filled days. He missed that Kim ever since high school started. And with that fervor, The freckled teen eagerly climbed the hanging roped ladder. While he was nearing the entrance, he could hear some voices coming inside it.
"Wait, who's up there? No one knows this place except me and... and..." Ron asked himself when he realized who may be up inside the tree house. His heart started to beat loudly while he silently uttered her name. "K-Kim?"
He was about to get inside when he heard her again "I'm so glad I'm up here with you, Eric."
"I'm so happy that I'm with you, period, Kim."
Ron was stunned when he realized who is the owner of the masculine voice. It was KP's boyfriend. The blonde didn't realize it but his grip on the ladder was very tight. Flashes of raging emotions started to flood his brain. How dare she bring him to one of the places he considered as sacred for only the two of them! Ron quickly hid under the floor, wanting to not blow up his cover.
"It's two months from now and I can't wait for graduation. Vacation's going to be long and we'll start our first year in Harvard!" Eric said with much enthusiasm.
"I can't wait to spend this summer with you there. You do have the tickets, right?" Kim asked Eric.
"What tickets? What's going on?" Ron asked himself as the story unfolds right in front of him. He was beginning to be more confused as the couple started giggling, unaware of his presence. Eric replied happily while cuddling with his girlfriend:
"Of course! We'll leave the day after our graduation. That way, we can still say goodbye to our friends and families."
"Yeah..." She sighed as she settled beside his arm.
"Is something bothering you?" Eric asked.
"Oh nothing... It's just... It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a guy's company." She sighed as Eric raised his eyebrows and Ron's to narrow.
"But what about Ron?"
"What about him?"
"I thought he's your best friend. You were close for years now."
"Yes! Best friends. He's my best friend since Pre-K. That's all he is to me. Sure, I had good times with him, but nothing compares it from what I feel with you, Eric. We're now moving into a new chapter in our lives. You're now the only guy that's important to me. And as far as I'm concerned, I would rather have you than be with Ron."
"Do you know how much I love you when you said that?" Eric smiled as he leaned for a kiss.
And at this point, Ron was left speechless. He unconsciously let go of the ladder and let himself fall softly on the grass. Amazingly, the couple didn't heard him. The mole rat went out of his pocket and shook him but to no avail, he didn't respond. The roaring pain was palpable to every cell in his body. The feeling of betrayal when he heard those cruel words made an impact far greater than everything that happened. He forgot that he needed to meet with Tara. He just lay there, with tears forming in his eyes, and tried to say her name
"K... K-K... P."

"Wake up!" One woman shook him out of his sleep. Ron groaned as he stepped out of the van and into the busy streets of Manila. The blonde looked at the watch and was shocked to learn that he spent four hours inside the van. When he looked at the avenues, he was completely speechless
"FOUR HOURS?! How the hell do they manage to stay sane in this type of traffic jam?" Ron asked in bewilderment.
Rufus was tugging his shirt, making him go inside the house where the one who woke him up went inside. The blonde teen followed her and goes inside a two-storey, moderately large house, in Manila standards, with a simple gate and a small front garden. The house was situated near the intersection of a small street and a busy boulevard that stretches from Quezon City to Manila. It was one in the afternoon and the boy and mole rat duo was feeling the heat.
"Phew, it really is hot here. Rufus, are you okay?" Ron asked when he brought out the naked rodent, who was furiously sweating.
"Oh, hello, Ronald. Here's a cool bath for your pet." An old, white-haired woman offered a small tub with cold water. Rufus happily jumped inside of it and sighed in contentment. That made the two laughed. Ron thanked her "Thanks, Grandma Ann!"
"Think nothing of it, dear. I am glad that I can be with my grandson for a long time here." The old woman named Ann just smiled as he pinched his cheek.
"Lola Ann! We have some problem po. It seems like our LPG tank is empty." One young boy wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts suddenly ran from the kitchen. Grandma Ann just shook her head and replied "Don't worry. Call the LPG dealer and order another one. Here's the money."
She handed the money, in which the boy said "Opo. Thank you po!"
Ron watched in amazement as the boy placed the back of his grandmother's hand on top of his forehead before going outside. Ron then asked "Why did he do that, Grandma? And what is po and opo mean?"
Ann just laughed at him, completely making him more confused, before answering "My dear, what he did is a custom here in this country that is called pagmamano. This basically means giving respect for your elders. The words 'po' and 'opo' are also words younger people use to give respects to someone older than you."
"Oh... It's like saying 'Please' and the likes back in Middleton, huh? Badical!" Ron grinned, making the old woman smiled at him. While Rufus was enjoying his bath, Ron and Ann went inside the living room and talked about his life back in the States. Ann eagerly listened as Ron talked about his story, including the recent ones. When he was finished, his head was hung low, feeling sad from the memories. He then felt a pat on his back. He looked back up and saw her face and said "Don't worry, my boy. Everything's going to be alright. You are a good boy and I know God has great plans for you."
Ron, in all of his years living, received little recognition. And to hear this to a person who you only met but have this sincerity like she knows you, Ron can't help but feel his eyes started to get watery. Ann just grinned at him and said "Don't go soft on me now, Ronald. Don't worry about that okay?"
Ron nodded happily.
"Now... Would you like to visit what school you're going to be studying? It's not that far but I believe you'll like it."
"Well, sure... po!" Ron said, adding the honoring word at the end of the sentence.
"Haha! I see your vocabulary is starting to expand. We'll go there after we eat lunch. I know food here is different from Middleton but if I may take a guess, I know you will love Filipino cuisine here. And what better way to start off than with... Adobo!"

A few hours later...
"That... was... SOOOO GOOOOOD!" Ron sighed in contentment as he arrived at the gates of the new university he will be soon studying. At first, he was anxious of trying the food since they mostly eat rice everyday. But the inviting aroma made him break his defense and tasted it. And the results are instantaneous. Ron and Rufus downed the food like there's no tomorrow. Ann smiled at the determination they had when it comes to food while the cook was starting to get worried on the amount of food he will need to cook in the near future.
After eating, Ron took a shower and went off to his next destination: Saint Thomas University. He took the exam a month before graduation and he was shocked to say he passed. This is one of the top prestigious universities in the country and to pass their entrance exam is miraculous to him. When the gates opened, what he saw astounded him. The main building was 400 years old and was still standing firm. The arch in front of it were heavily decorated with statues of angels. Between the two stands the statue of the patron saint of the school.
All around the main building are the other annexes that houses different departments ranging from Architecture to Medicine and Theater Arts to Theology. Ron and Rufus were amazed by the historic architecture the campus has.
"Wow... This place's huge! I mean, even Lowerton University has nothing compared to this." Ron stated as he continues to stare at the expanse of the school.
Everyone occupying the van smiled at his childish behavior. When the van parked inside the parking building, all of them went out and head towards the main archaic building. Tha plaza in front of the building was like the crossroad of all students. There were a girls and boys sitting on the benches while there's a class of the practicing their dance routines. Ron was amazed on how alive the campus feels and said "Wow, and to think I'm studying here... I can't wait!"
"Come here, Ronald. Let's get you enrolled now." Ann called before entering the building.
The boy was about to follow them when he heard a voice behind him.
"R-Ron?"
He turned around and saw the last person he would ever see.
"Tara?"
