Ameyuri and Omoi
Omoi and his squad was in full retreat. They had found Ameyuri Ringo, the wielder of the Thunderswords, Kiba, but she had proved to be more than a match for them even outside of the mist.
"Come on, stop hiding all of you!" Ameyuri shouted as she darted from tree to tree after Omoi and his squad. "Isn't there one of you who can make my heart skip a beat?"
After a moment she crossed her sword blades in front of her grinning as lightning began shooting off of them.
"Lightning Style, Lightning Fang!" Ameyuri shouted.
The lightning shot out in front of her and the charged field it sent out hit several shinobi, electrifying them and killing them. A Leaf shinobi stepped out to fight her but fell to a cross-slash from Ameyuri's swords.
"Cowards aren't my type!" Ameyuri stated as another fled from his hiding spot and fell to a slash across the back.
The next fell to one up the torso and face, followed by two Kumo Nin in a similar style.
"Where are the reinforcements?" Yurui, growled as he ducked behind a tree before Ameyuri could see him.
Ameyuri drove her swords into the ground, tired of toying around and annoyed that no one had the balls to fight her.
"For your cowardice, I'll burn you all to a crisp," Ameyuri growled. "Lightning Style, Thunder Gate!"
Lightning shot up her swords and around the area before shooting into the sky, blasting the area. A moment later, several more bolts of lightning struck, blasting the area and killing dozens of shinobi. Omoi and Nurui, both of whom had escaped the blast, barely, returned to the crater left b the jutsu to find Yurui lying on the ground, barely alive.
"Yurui," Nurui spoke. "Yurui! Get up!"
"It's too late," Yurui breathed barely able to make a sound. "It's already...getting dark."
"Hang on," Nurui pleaded. "The reinforcements will be here any minute."
"Nurui," Yurui breathed. "I'll leave...the rest...to you."
Then, he closed his eyes and fell still.
"Damnit!" Omoi growled. "I'm sick of this! How many people have already died?"
"Gather the others," Nurui instructed. "Anyone you can find."
Omoi nodded and left, a few minutes later returning with three others.
"So this is it huh?" Nurui sighed.
"It would seem so," Omoi confirmed.
"From here on, I'll be in charge because I'm the eldest out of us," Nurui stated.
"Ameyuri Ringo went off in another direction, chasing another platoon," one of the survivors stated. "But she'll be back for us. We need to hurry and decide what to do next."
"I've already decided to retreat," Nurui stated.
"We're running away!?" Omoi demanded. "It's only one of the Ninja Swordsmen!"
"Are you trying to say we should try to fight Ameyuri?" Nurui scoffed.
"Well..." Omoi trailed off, knowing it would just get them killed if they did.
"That's not like you Omoi," Nurui stated. "I thought you were supposed to be the cautious type, like me. War isn't the place for vengeance. Besides, there's no way we'd survive. To them, we're simply ants."
"Then why are we here?" Omoi demanded.
"Don't be a fool Omoi," Nurui scolded. "Are you trying to be a hero?"
Omoi fell silent.
"In any case, I'm the commanding officer," Nurui stated. "We'll create a diversion for Ameyuri Ringo then retreat."
Naruto and Hinata landed at the edge of the trees. Just ahead of them everything was scorched and dead.
"Damn," Naruto whistled. "She's strong."
"Kakashi and Guy are heading this way," Sai stated looking at a scroll that had been tied to one of his ink birds. "Mangetsu and Suigetsu too. Ameyuri is the last one."
"Then let's get going," Naruto stated and the three of them got onto a massive ink bird Sai created and they took off, looking for any sign of where Ameyuri was.
Damnit, Omoi growled. At this rate, we'll end up on a round-the-world trip. Going from one place to another while we forget our reasons for fighting. We'll keep going until we're dead. I'd rather...
"Captain, do you intend to keep running?" Omoi called over his shoulder.
"If we keep going, reinforcements will be able to catch up," Nurui stated. "I'm hoping for that Uzumaki kid from the Leaf."
Nurui hurled several trip-wire kunai into the trees leaving traps as they ran.
"What are you doing?" Omoi questioned. "That's not going to stop her."
"We have to make it look like we put up a fight," Nurui explained. "God only knows what they'd say if we didn't."
You've got to be kidding, Omoi thought looking back at the traps. All just for show? And with traps that obvious, he'll only lead the enemy right to us. This isn't going to end well if we keep following this guy.
He continued after Nurui and the others but felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end from an electrical charge.
"Who is Ameyuri Ringo?" Omoi questioned. "When she was alive, I mean."
"She was a genius Lightning Style user but died young from an incurable disease," one of the survivors spoke up. "She's better known for never letting her targets escape."
"Cut the chatter Kayui," Nurui snapped.
"You know about this?" Omoi demanded.
Omoi felt the electrical charge again but this time when he looked back, he saw electricity flashing behind them.
"She's here!" Kayui shouted.
"Damn she's fast," Nurui growled.
She'll catch up with us, soon, Omoi thought.
Suddenly, the shinobi at the back of the group was hit with a bolt of lightning and shouted in pain and dismay as he fell. A moment later the next fell. Omoi was at the back now and just as he jumped of of the next branch, lightning blasted it.
"We can't escape!" Omoi shouted. "We have to fight!"
"No way!" Nurui responded.
"Then how long do we keep running!?" Omoi demanded. "We can't outrun her!"
"I know!" Nurui shouted just as a lightning bolt flashed past Omoi's head and blasted a tree beside him.
"Our lives depend on you you now!" Omoi shouted.
"That's why we're running!" Nurui shouted.
"Have you ever thought about our fallen comrades?" Omoi shouted.
"Omoi," Kayui spoke up. "You don't understand Nurui. That goes for you too Nurui. Why don't you-"
"Shut up Kayui!" Nurui shouted.
"I'm done running!" Omoi shouted. "Go! I'll cover you!"
He landed on the next branch and spun around, readying himself for Ameyuri. A moment later, the trees lit up with lightning and it shot forward, impacting around Omoi but not enough to explode. He drew his sword and charged.
"Oh, there is one," Ameyuri grinned as she saw Omoi charging toward her. "You're the man I've been looking for."
"I will avenge Yurui!" Omoi shouted as he slashed at Ameyuri only for her to block it.
Lightning flashed along her swords for a moment but didn't hurt Omoi. A moment later, Ameyuri shoved Omoi away, following quickly. Omoi, turned, fleeing through the trees and Ameyuri followed.
"What, you gonna run away again?" Ameyuri questioned as she followed.
After a moment, she caught up with Omoi, slashing him down the back.
"Seems like you're no good after a-" she stopped when smoke enveloped him and two halves of a section of tree fell out.
"Gotcha!" Omoi shouted leaping at her from the other side of the cloud of smoke. "Cloud Style, Deception Slice!"
Ameyuri blocked it, smiling both smugly and with a bit of an impressed look.
"Trying to trick me huh?" Ameyuri shouted. "Lightning Blade Jutsu, Thunderbolt!"
Lightning shot out of the sky, hitting the blades before shooting out of the forward prong and blasted Omoi, throwing him away. He landed on his feet and fell to one knee as Ameyuri landed on a branch above him.
She's strong, Omoi thought. I'll have to use what B sensei taught me. I hope this works. Hidden Mist Slice!
He put his sword away and leapt at her.
"You coming at me again?" Ameyuri grinned. "Looks like you've got some backbone after all."
Omoi drew his sword and slashed at her. She leaned back out of the way and Omoi raised his sword over head head for a second attack just as two clones appeared around her. All three slashed and Ameyuri leapt into the air and over the trees, grinning.
"Dodge this!" Omoi's voice rang out from above.
Ameyuri's head snapped up and her mouth fell open as Omoi himself fell at her sword first.
"All of them were decoys!?" Ameyuri gasped.
"Gotcha!" Omoi shouted as Ameyuri grinned.
"Lightning Style, Depth Charge!" Ameyuri shouted.
Lightning covered her for a moment before shooting to the metal of Omoi's sword and blasting him down to the ground, his sword sticking into it a short distance away.
"Not bad," Ameyuri commended placing her blade to his throat. "Not bad. If you were a normal person you'd be dead by now. Sorry for being so ridiculously strong. But that was still pretty fun."
Omoi looked up at her, mind still fuzzy from exhaustion.
"Omoi!" a voice suddenly shouted.
Both Omoi and Ameyuri looked and saw Nurui and Kayui sprinting toward them and Ameyuri grinned.
"I won't kill you yet," Ameyuri grinned down at Omoi. "I'm the type that likes to save the best for last."
"Stay away!" Omoi shouted. "Nurui! Kayui!"
Just as his words registered to them, lightning shot from the sky and blasted them both. Omoi forced himself up and ran to the site of the blast, spotting Nurui lying on the ground.
"Nurui!" Omoi gasped dropping to his knees beside him. "Are you okay? Nurui!"
"Why did you do something so reckless?" Nurui questioned. "You ruined everything."
"Ruined?" Omoi questioned.
"Listen carefully," Nurui growled. pulling Omoi lower so he could whisper.
"Found you," Ameyuri suddenly sneered from above as she jumped down from the cliff.
Omoi turned and fled and Ameyuri snorted in amusement chasing him.
"I won't let you escape you know," Ameyuri called after him.
As he fled, lightning continuously shot past him. He pushed himself to run faster but Ameyuri continued to gain on him. Just as he jumped into a clearing, Ameyuri hit him directly in the back, blasting him into the ground in a circle of dark grey dirt surrounded by a ring of grass.
"So, have you prepared yourself?" Ameyuri questioned landing behind him as he tried to push himself up.
"I get it," Omoi grunted turning toward her. "If you want to kill me, go ahead."
He gripped his sword as she smiled again slightly less mocking this time.
"I'll acknowledge your effort," Ameyuri spoke up after a moment.
"I...no, we have to defeat you no matter what," Omoi growled. "Nurui, Yurui."
"You, defeat me?" Ameyuri snorted. "Yeah, you just keep telling yourself that."
"I've been sucking on you all day," Omoi snarled. "Because today's lollipop is apple flavored."
Ameyuri could help but giggle at his lame joke playing on the fact that "Ame" could mean sweet or lollipop and "Yuri" meant apple. She was also laughing at the double meaning she found using his exact wording.
"Come at me," Omoi invited spitting out his lollipop. "With all the might of your techniques!"
The moment the lollipop hit the ground, Omoi sprinted forward.
"Too bad," Ameyuri sighed. "Just when I finally found a guy I liked."
She flipped her swords over and drove them into the ground as Omoi charged.
"Lightning Style, Thunder Gate!" Ameyuri shouted as her swords began to glow with lightning.
The moment they did, the ground began to break apart, however, large chunks shooting up around her as it did. The lightning disappeared from her swords and she gasped in surprise as Omoi lowered his hand, grinning. The quicksand they now stood on instantly began to swallow them and Ameyuri looked down then at Omoi in surprise.
"What the hell is this?" Ameyuri demanded. "You led me into a trap!"
"This used to be a bottomless swamp," Omoi stated. "Once you're in, you'll never get out."
"And you're coming with me?" Ameyuri grinned somewhere between thinking it funny and sweet. "What a gentleman."
"I had fun too," Omoi grinned. "It will be an honor to be with you in the end."
Ameyuri blinked in surprise as her cheeks urned pink before she grinned.
"You softy," Ameyuri grinned. "I can think of worse ways to end."
"Omoi!" Kakashi shouted as he and Guy suddenly dropped into the clearing.
"Just finishing up here," Omoi smiled back at them. "It's alright."
Just then, Sai's ink bird stopped over the clearing as a rope wrapped itself around Omoi's left arm, Sai beginning to pull him up.
"Aren't you coming with me?" Ameyuri questioned.
"I meant to," Omoi admitted. "Sorry. Maybe next time."
"Next time, if I'm ever reborn again, I'll take the best ones first," Ameyuri sighed.
"You won't be reborn again," Omoi promised pulling out a new lollipop and tossing it at her. "Here's a goodbye present from me."
"Thank you," Ameyuri smiled.
"Omoi," Omoi stated. "My name's Omoi."
"Omoi," Ameyuri smiled lifting her swords out of the mud and throwing them to him. "A fair well gift from me. I'll be waiting for you on the other side."
Just as she said this, she sank below the surface before Naruto landed at the edge of the circle of mud, extending chakra chains into the mud and lifting Ameyuri up out of it, much to everyone's surprise.
"What the hell are you doing?" Guy demanded.
"Ameyuri," Naruto spoke. "What would you do if you came back to life right now?"
"Back to..." Ameyuri trailed off before grinning and shrugging. "I don't know. I'd probably go after the guy that thought himself so important to control me."
"You seemed pretty happy to fight us before," Omoi stated.
"I like to fight," Ameyuri admitted. "But I like being in control of myself even more."
"Would you work with us?" Naruto questioned.
"Yes," Ameyuri nodded. "But even if you could revive me, my disease would just kill me again anyway."
"Not necessarily," Naruto grinned. "Not the way my Kekkei Genkai works."
Ameyuri stared at him in shock and he looked to Omoi.
"What do you say?" Naruto questioned. "You believe her?"
"I do," Omoi nodded. "I'll take responsibility for any negative consequences."
"We'll split it," Naruto grinned moving Ameyuri to solid ground before healing her and bringing her back to life.
He fell to one knee, groaning but pushed himself back up and smirked at Ameyuri.
"I'm...alive?" Ameyuri breathed. "I didn't think you could actually do it."
"I can always throw you back in if you would prefer," Naruto offered grinning and Ameyuri shared his grin.
"I'm good," Ameyuri laughed before catching her swords.
"My new teammate needs a weapon," Omoi stated as he landed beside her.
"Keep them," Ameyuri smiled handing them back. "I'll take yours instead."
"I'll take them," Suigetsu stated stepping out of the trees with his brother, both holding one of the other Ninja Swordsmen's blades with Mangetsu carrying Shibuki and Nuibari.
"No," Naruto said shaking his head. "You'll be making due with a different blade."
"Which one?" Suigetsu demanded.
Naruto tossed him the Sword of Kusanagi and it instantly reverted to its snake form.
"He's your new master," Naruto stated. "Either him or whoever he gives you to."
The snake stared at him for a moment before nodding and turning back into its sword form. Suigetsu stared at it for a moment before nodding and Naruto tossed him its sheath. Sai landed beside them and Hinata slid to the ground just as sand shot out of the trees and formed a teleportation seal. Naruto used his Byakugan to look and saw a trail of them, each about a mile apart leading toward where Gaara had gone to fight the Kage.
"Time to go," Naruto stated taking Hinata's hand. "You guys go to HQ so Omoi can explain about Ameyuri. I'm going to help Gaara and the forces he's aiding."
Omoi nodded and Naruto teleported to the next seal, taking Hinata with him.
