Chapter 19: Unexpected Guest
Renesmee
Two weeks had flown since the 'Laura leaving to Oxford' incident and I can honestly say we're at a good place right now. It was a little rocky at the beginning when Laura told her parents she wasn't leaving to Oxford. To say her parents were quite pissed was an understatement, but they understood they were being quite selfish for practically forcing her into something she doesn't want to do. I think her mom was more understanding about her decision rather than her father.
Things seemed to have gotten smoother with Jason and Laura, I think they're more in love than they've ever been –if that was even possible– after what happened two weeks ago. To be honest, I was kind of happy Laura stayed, I mean I know I would've coped without her but I was sure going to miss her a lot and I wouldn't want to spend four years with my brother moping everyday!
Carrying on to other situations involving our lives, well I haven't seen Nahuel for a very long time –probably spending all his time with Leah– and Jennifer is really getting into the family. I kind of like her you know, but in Laura's perception of her…not so much.
I haven't seen Derek since the time we told him about him being hunted by werewolf hunters –Laura's parents– but I have heard from him. He tells me how his coping here in Forks again and how he found an apartment down Seattle so he can at least have a roof over his shoulder, being a Parker meant he had endless money. He knows his family love him so much that he even forgot he was adopted, he knows how hurt his family are that he just disappeared but he had to so that they could be protected. I'd do that if I were him.
It was great seeing Derek after so many years. I didn't see him as my neighbour anymore or my ex-boyfriend. I saw him as my old childhood bud that I always went to the park with. And seeing how adulthood hit us hard, I was totally surprised when I saw him. He wasn't that scrawny freckled face kid anymore. He was a grown man and I was sure he broke a couple of hearts along his way.
Graduation was only four days ago and to say how happy I was, was an understatement. Alice of course being Alice threw this huge graduation party last Saturday, she invited all my friends and the wolves and honestly, we had quite a good time. Drama of course speculated when Embry imprinted on one of my friend Emma. It was actually kind of expected because they were so alike in so many ways. I'm pretty sure he had a lot of explaining to do, one that he was a shape-shifter that turned into a large wolf and second, that there was this strong connection that gravitationally pulls them together and compiled them together as one and why he becomes unconditionally bound to her for the rest of his life. Wow! Is an imprint that strong?!
Laura, Cathy, Carmen, Alice and I were sitting on my bed, just trying on all the bridesmaid dresses for the wedding which was in less than two weeks. Alice has been driving us all crazy, well that's probably ironic seen as she is crazy but that isn't the case. She's getting all stressed out because she's worried that she wouldn't get everything ready on time –and being Alice you'd know she always has everything on time.
"Alice, I think she fits perfect in that." I said motioning to Carmen who was the first to try out her dress. She looked beautiful in that beautiful dress. It was a short/mini knee length pale blue one shoulder sleeveless dress. She looked quite beautiful in it.
"I don't know. It seems a little loose you know." Alice said rubbing her chin and moving towards Carmen to adjust her strap. "Maybe it's too short." She whispered to herself. I rolled my eyes at my Aunt.
"Aunt Alice I think it's perfect, and you know how I'm such a sucker in anything dealing with dresses?" Cathy said.
"That's true." Laura replied. Alice sighed.
"Yeah Aunt Alice, I feel comfortable in it and it's kinda wavy for me." Carmen said twirling around a little. Alice's eyes widened.
"Don't twirl around! Or else you'll fall onto that nightstand, rip the dress into shreds and the whole wedding will be ruined for me!" Alice shouted in frustration with her hands in the air. "I mean Renesmee."
"Shish crazy-pants okay fine I won't twirl. I wouldn't want you to have a heart attack." Carmen said seeming a bit frightened as she moved away from any kind of danger.
"Alice you're acting like me right now." I remarked.
"Yeah I know. I'm sorry. I'm just a little stressed out right now. I don't know if you have noticed but Jasper says I tend to go a little crazy when it comes to planning things," She replied, with a light chuckle.
"Oh we know!" Cathy murmured. I smiled at my cousin.
"Okay, now. Cary I'll make a few adjustments to the dress. How do you want it? Short or longer?" she asked. Carmen shrugged.
"Does it matter?" Cary asked.
"Yes it damn does!" We heard Emmett's voice echo from downstairs. Carmen huffed. "I heard that Cary!"
"Yep!" exclaimed Alice. "I think I'll make it a little longer so we won't give poor daddy bear a heart attack."
"Thank you my pixie of a sister!" We all chuckled as Emmett said that whilst Alice just rolled her eyes.
"Anywho… since that's sorted, all that I need to handle are the guest lists, the rest of the invitations and the boys tuxedos should be here in the next six days or so." Alice said with a casual smile. I frowned at her.
"Alice, do you really think you can get everything ready in the next week?" Laura asked.
"Yeah I mean, you're doing a lot and you can't entirely do this alone?" I said to her sounding a little worried. She gave me a small chuckle.
"Sweetheart," She said patting my shoulder. "I planned your mother's wedding in over a month, all by myself thank you! I think I can handle yours just fine." She replied. I sniggered and shrugged.
"If you say so!" I replied. She smiled at all of us and was on her way to the door. "Hey Alice!" I called out.
"Yes Ness?" She asked.
"Do you know where the honeymoon would be?" I asked. I was really nervous about this wedding and I was also pretty nervous about the honeymoon. She gave me one brilliant smirk.
"Thinking you'd ask me that, my lips are sealed missy!" Alice said. I sighed as she left the room.
"Well now all the worst of Alice is over." Cathy began.
"Let's talk about the bachelorette party!" Carmen exclaimed. I shook my head.
"No, no! I'm good! I don't want a gay stripper at my bachelorette party! So no party!" I concluded. Both Cathy and Carmen groaned.
"Ah come on! How come Jacob gets to have one?" Carmen whined as she crossed her arms. I shrugged.
"I'm sure he feels the same way. A bachelorette party is a night to spend your last day as a single woman but I was never single. I've had Jacob for my whole life so I think I'm okay."
"Yeah of course you'd say that since you're 'imprinted' on each other. Seriously, if I were ever imprinted on I'd die!" Carmen said.
"I think I agree with Nessie over here. I don't think it's a good idea. And I didn't know vampires had bachelor parties?" Laura asked.
"Honey," Carmen began. "Just because we're immortals doesn't mean we can't have a little bit of fun!" Carmen said shrugging as she gave herself a manicure. I stared at the now 14 year old. It was almost unbelievable that she was the petite Cary anymore. Her hair grew longer, her height, her hazel-blue eyes have just gotten more beautiful when they glisten in the sun, her skin tone changed into almost how a vampire's would be but seen as her mom was pale herself you'd expect it. She reminded me so much of Christie that it was scary.
Laura still doesn't know the real reason why her sister Christie died and how the girl she's sitting right in front of is her niece. It was always hard bringing up Christie's name in front of her because I always felt bad for keeping it a secret from my best friend for three years.
"Well I never said you don't have fun seen as you guys are but I didn't quite expect you guys as party animals. Well except for Emmett. And maybe the wolves," Laura said.
"No need in second guessing my dad's crazy party animal side." Cary replied. We all chuckled at how true that statement was.
"I know you girls mean well about the whole party thing but I feel like I need to just relax a bit. The wedding is what only matters right?" I said. They all agreed.
"May we at least have a bridal shower for you then?" Cathy asked. I contemplated for a second. "Now party involving it whatsoever."
"When did you become so interested in these things?" I asked, with a light chuckle. Cathy was just like my mother when it came to things like these.
"Well let's just say something made me see the light." She smiled.
"She's lying." Carmen confirmed. "She's only in it because there'll be cake involved."
"I have you know missy! Cake it one of the most delightful things in the world! Cookie dough and red velvet oh especially red velvet,"
"With a hint of deer blood," I said and Cathy, Cary and I hummed in delight. Laura stared at us like we were sick.
"You guys are sick." She said scrunching her nose. I chuckled. "Hey, Alice told me Jacob wanted Jason and Seth as half his best man. How does that work?"
"Well it could always mean that he wanted them in half a tuxedo?" Carmen said rhetorically. I rolled my eyes.
"Don't be silly Cary, it means Jake's indecisive on who he loves more and has to choice between the two. But he can't so he gives them both roses." Cathy replied.
"Did you get that from the Bachelor?" Laura asked. I chuckled.
"You guys are truly the craziest girls in my life. I love you so much." I said pulling them all into a hug. I didn't know what I'd do without them in my life. My life would've probably been sucky just being the only child in the house.
"Whoa there Ness, are you sure you aren't having the wedding hormones?" Cathy asked. I rolled my eyes. I checked my watch and realized it was 13:15.
"Oh! The family meeting is about to start!" I said getting up from the bed and heading downstairs. You might be thinking I was crazy for being excited for a family meeting but I'm not because I got to see my Jacob!
When I got downstairs, I could see everyone congregating into the living room. I smiled when I saw Jacob sitting on his favorite couch. I immediately jumped into his lap.
"Hey Ness," He said with his brilliant smile that I loved so much. I missed Jacob so much. He has been patrolling way too much lately.
"Hey," I said leaning in to give him a kiss on the lips, my lips. The kiss soon deepened and I felt his hand move up to stroke my long bronze hair.
"Stop scarring us!" I heard my annoying brother's echo into the room. I giggled as I pulled away from Jacob whilst he just sighed.
"So what were you up to today?" Jake asked.
"Well. The girls and I were trying on the bridesmaid dresses with Alice."
"I don't even have to ask what happened." Jacob replied. I giggled.
"Yeah, well. She says that you wanted Jason and Seth as half your best man?" I asked him.
"Yeah, they were both bugging me on who I should choose as my best man and to save the arguments, I just decided to choose them both."
"That's really sweet of you Jake" I smiled at him. Jacob was such a great person. He was the great everything, a great friend, a great brother and definitely an amazing boyfriend/fiancé/future-husband. I was quite sure he'd be a perfect dad to our children.
"Ness?" I heard Jake's distant voice which pulled me away from my transited state.
"Hmm," I hummed.
"So are you up for it?" He asked. I frowned in confusion.
"Up for what?" I questioned dumbfounded.
"I'm going over to see Sam, so I was wondering since you've wanted to see the new baby then you'd come with?" He asked.
"Oh that would be really great Jake. Sure," I smiled giddily.
"Okay. So why don't we get this meeting since we're all here-" Grandpa began but was cut off by Carmen.
"Hi. Sorry to interrupt you're beautiful introduction grandpa but I was wondering…how long will this take because I have a very important meeting to attend too?" She asked. I raised my eyebrow at her.
"And where will this meeting be held young lady?" Rosalie questioned as she crossed her arms.
"At Jamie's house mom," Carmen replied with her squeaky laugh. Oh my god! She's lying. She only made that laugh when she was lying! She's going to see Brody.
"You're not going anywhere until you tell me what you'll be doing there." Rosalie said with her eye raised. Carmen's facial expression turned to surprised.
"Mom, Jamie is like one of my BFF's, can't you trust me?"
"I've been a teenager once missy. I don't want you making bad decisions and making mistakes that you'd regret-"
"Okay mom, I get it. I mean of course I know that mom! But come on. Look at this face." Carmen said pointing to herself. I suppressed a laugh. Rosalie sighed.
"We'll talk about it later. Carlisle you may continue." Rosalie insisted. Carmen smiled.
"Thank you Rosalie. Can we agree to leave all parenting aside?" He asked and Rosalie nodded in understanding.
"Well well babe. I like this mad side of you, totally sexy." Emmett commented as he kissed her neck. Rosalie giggled.
"Mom!" exclaimed Cathy.
"Daddy no!" whined Carmen as she covered her face in shame.
"Your family gets crazier by the minute." Jacob whispered to me. I smiled. Well he wasn't wrong.
"Now since I was expecting that family drama to cease, it has come to my understanding that we're relocating from Forks is it?" Carlisle asked and we all nodded. "Well Edward, Jasper and I were thinking that since we've all been living in one roof that we should go our separate ways." He said. Everyone's eyes widened.
"You mean like. Leave to different places?" Jason asked in complete shock.
"But we can't be apart from each other, that wouldn't be right!" Diego said in dreadfulness.
"I don't even know why we're leaving anyway. It seems like we all like it here in Forks. Why leave?"
"Humans are starting to notice our non-existing aging. And you kids all know that we have to be on the move when everyone notices less change in us." Jasper said.
"Jasper's right. When people believe we're not aging. Then they're going to question it. We need to leave," Edward said where he was sat by the piano with mom.
"Okay, we get it but…We can't be away from each other." Jason said and squeezed Laura's hand.
"Children, you're getting way over your heads. We're not going to be relocating far away from each other. We're just going to be living in different venues so we have our own privacy however we'll still keep close by okay?" Carlisle concluded. Well that was good.
"I guess."
"So when are we doing this thing?" Jason asked with kind of lack in interest. I knew how much he loved Forks Washington and leaving isn't what he expected to come along yet. It also meant leaving Laura as well.
"Probably after Renesmee's wedding and after the whole-" Alice stated but was cut off by my dad who glared at her. I raised my eyebrow. What did that exchange mean?
"So is that it?" Carmen asked. Carlisle chuckled and nodded.
"Well I for one am quite excited for this big move! Means I get to finally have my own room!" Cathy exclaimed. "I do get to have my own room right?"
"Of course sweetheart," Esme smiled warmly. I turned my head to see my mother and father having their own connection telepathy with each other. I gave a frown when I saw mother's saddened and worried face. Okay what the hell is that?
"I'll be preparing lunch for you all so you children may go back to your previous inactions." Esme said.
"Come on Car, I've gotta show you something." Diego said grabbing her hand in his. Cary rolled her eyes but soon agreed.
"Um, I think I'll skip lunch since Jake and I will be at the Uley's."
"For what?" my father asked.
"I've got something to discuss with Sam and Renesmee here wants to meet Kameryn." Jacob replied. My mom then got up and walked up to me and took me by both hands and raised me up from the couch to stare deep into my eyes. I didn't know why but the way she stared at me was filled with pain but love for me.
"Okay, well I really hope you be careful on the road or whichever way you'd be using transportation. I love you so much Renesmee and all I want is for you to be safe. Promise me you'll take care of yourself." She cried out. I must have shed a tear because I felt warm water fall onto my bare arm. I nodded and then she pulled me into a hug.
"Okay. Why don't you get ready?" She suggested. I smiled back at her and nodded.
"Want to come and help me?" I asked her.
"I have to prepare lunch for you animals." She said with a light laugh.
"Hey! We're not animals." Cathy exclaimed.
"I was referring to the wolves." My mother joked. "I'll be there soon sweetheart." Bella added with a stroke of assurance on my arm.
"I'll wait up for you." Jake told me. I gave him a slight nod and walked to my bedroom. Something was up. And the entire family were in on it. I really wanted to know why my parents have been so pained for the past month and why they've been distant, why my mom was so emotional lately. The family was hiding something from me and I was determined to find out what.
I was currently preparing for today when I heard a low knock on my door. It was so low that I thought a human couldn't have heard it.
"Who is it?" I called out. It must have been my mom. But I was wrong when I saw Laura's face enter the room. "Oh hey,"
"Hey," Laura said, "Need help?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Sure but I'm sure I can dress myself." I laughed. She smiled back. "Didn't you think that was weird back there?" I asked as I slipped on my top.
"You mean the moment between your mom and you?" She asked. I nodded slightly.
"Yeah, I mean why did she do that?"
"She loves you." Laura confirmed.
"Yeah I know that but it's weird how she reacted. Something behind what she said affected me so hard. I've been getting weird vibes in this house and I've noticed my family have been hiding something from me. I'm trying to figure out what," I said. Laura gave me her 'Laurevous' smile like Jason always calls it. She's hiding something.
"I'm sure it's not that bad."
"My mom has been having raging emotions and my dad…well he's been more protective then he's ever been. I wish that they would just try stopping the worst of embarrassment and just tell me what's going on," I sighed as I began clearing up all the magazines we used for today.
"You know, it would be worse if they didn't try at all." She replied as she helped me. I turned my head to look at her. Maybe she had a point. Maybe all of this being an emotional wreck and being an over-protective parent meant that they weren't ready to say goodbye to their only daughter.
"Yeah, you're probably right." I muttered. "So uh…did you regret doing it?" I asked.
"Leaving? Oh no, I mean I did know what I was doing would leave lots of people hurt but Jason is my life and I couldn't stand to be away from him." She replied. "And of course you!" she added as she nudged my arm. I chuckled.
"I wasn't talking about that." I said. She frowned in confusion. "When you and Jason…uh…you know…had-" I began awkwardly. It was hard talking about my brother's sex life let alone my brother and my best friend.
"Sex?" she finished. I nodded slightly. "I don't know. It just happened and I think what's done is done. But I wouldn't change it even if I had the chance." She answered truthfully. I smiled.
"So…was it good?" I asked nervously. She blushed.
"Oh I get it. You're afraid aren't you?" She questioned. I gave a nervous grin and a shrug.
"Is it that believable?" I asked. She giggled. "I mean I knew the time would come but…I can't help but have this frightened feeling inside of me."
"I get it." She nodded in understanding. "Let me give you this, when the moment comes. You'll know the feeling. Just let the current guide you."
"You know Laur, you should definitely be a guidance councillor." I said.
"Be a weird lady with shitty glasses? No thank you." She dismissed with a light laugh. I smiled.
"Laura may I talk to you?" We heard a voice coming from my bedroom door. Laura and I turned to see my mother. Laura gave me a quick look before turning back to my mom.
"Um sure." She replied and walked out of the door. I gave my mom a small smile but she didn't return it. I guess she heard our conversation and kinda hates me now. I sighed and grabbed my bubblegum packet from my nightstand and left the room.
When I was walking past most of the rooms, I saw my cousin Carmen standing in front of her mirror using her curling iron and listening to One Direction's new album. I smiled as I entered her room.
"Hey there Carpet." I greeted and she gasped.
"Gosh Ness, you should knock before barging in, you never know who could be naked. That would be totally repugnant." She said. I frowned as I stared at her body. She was wearing a long short sundress and a jean jacket with a belt around her waist.
"You're not naked." I said.
"Yeah but my face is!" She exclaimed as she pointed to her perfect face as if it were obvious.
"I'm feeling kind of stupid here for not getting the point?" I replied. She groaned.
"Well for starters if you haven't noticed. I haven't applied makeup and my hair looks like a freaking railway station!" She cried out. I smiled. She's so much like Rosalie…and a little like Liv on the show Liv and Maddie.
"Look Cary. We love you. Even if your hair looks like a freaking railway station." I assured her. She laughed at the last part.
"Easy for you to say little Ms. Perfect bronze haired. But you're still sweet." She said. I rolled my eyes. "I still don't get why you don't want a bachelorette party?"
"It's like I said. I don't need to celebrate my last night of singularity because I never was." I smiled. She gave me a shrug.
"Your loss," She said turning back to her mirror and where she left off with her. I rolled my eyes. I was at awe at how Carmen grew so fast. My train of thought was pulled away by the vibration of a phone. I looked to see Carmen's phone ringing and the Caller ID as Rafael. I frowned. Who was that?
"Hey Cary, who's Rafael?" I asked as I showed her the phone. Carmen moved her eyes forward before shrugging.
"Have no idea. Must've been a wrong number," She said and going back to her phase. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"That doesn't make any sense." I murmured lowly. Don't caller ID's usually have an 'Unknown number' written on it, so if Carmen didn't know about this Rafael then how did she get his number?
This is totally weird…

Bella
My daughter Renesmee knew something was up with the way our family was acting. I mean it's pretty obvious. I never considered myself as bad actress even though I've been made fun of by my best friend Jake and my brother Emmett. I didn't know that until now.
I couldn't stand every waking day of every moment just pretending that everything is alright. I just found out that I had a daughter that I never knew of for almost eight years! And now I have to sit down and pretend my life is already perfect?!
All I wanted to do was waltz all the way to Russia and demand to know the truth! But I guess I couldn't do that yet now could I.
And on the other hand, I have my two kids well I wouldn't consider them as kids anymore seen as they've taken next steps in adulthood. Renesmee and the wedding have also been stressing me out. It was bad enough that I watched her graduated and now I have to watch her walk down the aisle and that always meant leaving the nest. Don't get me uncorrected, of course I'm happy for both my best friend and daughter but it was just going to be hard to say goodbye to her.
And when I thought things wouldn't get any worse. My other child Jason has taken the next step in his and Laura's relationship. I only found out a day later that he and Laura finally gave in to each other. I know I shouldn't be furious and all because Edward and I did give them the key and I was the one to initiate it at first. But I never thought it would've been this soon.
That was beside the point. I was afraid of what Laura might have felt when I was in my honeymoon and the moment I heard her talk to Renesmee in her room, I knew I needed to step in and be the mom I should be.
"And that's what happened." I told Laura everything what happened from my wedding day to the end. Her eyes were widened.
"Wow. I can't imagine what you had to go through. God I should've thought about it!" She groaned with her face in her hands. I comforted her with a light rub on the back.
"No Laura no, It's not your fault. You seem to forget that I was too also the same age at that time. I was a teenager, just because I waited until marriage doesn't mean you should. I'm just being a mom here."
"You're an incredible mother Mrs. Cullen. I don't know how you do what you do." She said. I smiled at her.
"It comes from within. Oh and by the way, call me Bella because Mrs. Cullen makes me sound old and royal and I'm none of the above." I said to her. She chuckled.
"You were born to be a mother Be-Bella. I wonder how hard it must've been for you to tell me all of this."
"You're the only one that I've confided in with what happened. I haven't even talked to Nessie about this." I chuckled. Her hazel eyes widened.
"Then you definitely shouldn't have told me." She said quickly. I shushed her.
"Hey, it's okay. You've got a roll to play in this family. And you're part of it," I replied. Laura was just an amazing person. I knew she would be perfect for this family and perfect for Jason. She reminded me a lot of myself as a teenager too.
Her eyes glistened in honor. "Thank you so much Bella. For everything" She said giving me a slight hug. I smiled and returned it graciously.
"You're welcome sweetie."
"And I really hope everything will be okay with the whole situation. I have complete faith that you'll be happy in the end." She said giving me a small smile. I gave her one back. I was really hoping…
After our discussion, I told her that she could go back to Renesmee and that if she needed me that I would be downstairs. It was great to finally get it out of my chest and tell Laura.
Getting off the last staircase, I tuned in to the sound of the piano playing from the living room. I walked in to see my dashing husband by the piano, playing my lullaby. I took a seat beside him and rested my head on his shoulder.
"How are you holding up?" He asked. I shrugged.
"I'm okay it's just. I'm tired." I replied. Knowing being a vampire meant that it was impossible to have anything a human does. So it was impossible to be tired. But I am emotionally.
"Everything's going to be okay love."
"What if it won't Edward?" I questioned. "What if nothing will ever be okay? We've watched our children grow up way to fast and there isn't any way we can replace that. They graduated from High School, and Renesmee's getting married. Why is everything moving way in a fast pace?"
"As you said before, our lives will never be normal. There are things that we wish we could take back and there's a lot!" He stated. I giggled. "But we have forever to cherish the moments we have now, and you never know. There are always other times we can replay those moments." He replied. I knew what he meant. He was also worried about the situation we were faced.
"Edward?" I began. He turned to face me but never stopped playing. "What happens when we find out that it's not actually true? What will we do then?"
"Then we just pick up where we left off in our lives," He said. I took a deep breath.
"I just can't afford to think like that." I murmured.
"Me, too, love."
"So what should we do with Renesmee? If she finds out she'll probably die and we don't want add more stress over her."
"After the wedding Bella, we just have to make sure she has a clear head." Edward reminded me. I sighed but nodded.
"Why does Renesmee need to have a clear head?"

Jacob
Renesmee and I were now on our way to the Uley residents to have some meeting of some sort. Nobody would tell me what it was for and nobody knew about it but I guess Sam initiated it.
Renesmee and I got to the Uley residents to see a few cars lined up their front yard. Wow! Meeting buzz was definitely not a joke.
Renesmee got out of the car and onto their porch and knocked on their door. A radiant Emily greeted us.
"It's so good to see you two finally made it."
"Sorry we're a little late, we had a little meeting ourselves back at home." Renesmee said with a chuckle. Emily shook her head.
"Oh no problem, actually you're not even late at all." She said and invited us in. Entering the house was kind of an atoll moment because I remembered that it opened right into their kitchen so I remembered how the gang and I use to always eat Emily's amazing food and muffin baking.
My train of thought was pulled away when I heard a high pitch scream coming towards me.
"Uncle Jakers!" Little Dove greeted me as she came running to my feet. I chuckled and picked her up.
"Hey there little princess, long time no see!" I said.
"Yep!" she exclaimed. "I'll be six soon!" She said. Little Dove was full of energy, just like her mother Emily.
"You're a very big girl aren't you now!" I gasped and began tickling her stomach. She giggled delightfully.
"She wants a giant Castle like Repunzal's and a huge water slide for her birthday." Emily said.
"I'm thinking Samy boy has something to say to that." I chuckled. I knew how protective fathers could get and a wolf father is even worse!
"You bet I did!" Sam exclaimed as he entered the kitchen. We all chuckled.
"Good to see you Sam." I greeted him. I've noticed he has gotten almost an inch shorter than he use to be. It was either my alpha side was excelling or he's just naturally shorter than me…Definitely my Alpha side. He greeted us back.
"How have you been Renesmee?" Emily asked.
"Oh I've been great, no complaints."
"And you're family?" Sam asked with no hint of sarcasm now. Things have changed in Forks Washington. The wolves were more excepting of the Cullen's because they truly realized that they weren't threats to the town or the tribe.
"They're okay I guess." She said with the best convincing smile that she could muster but I think both she and I knew that things weren't going…smoothly.
"I heard the wedding is only two weeks away guys. You must be excited!" Emily said with a wide smile.
"Well we're a little nervous! Well I am." Renesmee blushed.
"But I'm sure everything will be just fine." I said pulling Renesmee to my side and gave her a small kiss on the cheek. I heard 'awws' coming from the door of the kitchen. I chuckled when I saw Kim and my sister Rachel.
"Oh that was such a cute moment. Why didn't I bring my camera?" Rachel ranted as she came up to us with the Kim right behind.
"Hey Rach," I said.
"I've missed you guys so much! Where have you been hiding?"
"In a vampire mote." I joked. Nessie, Kim and Rach slapped the back of my head. Well Ow!
"I've tried that before and it didn't end well." Sam said. I stuck my tongue out at him.
"Okay, let's all get into the living room because the energy in stuffing the kitchen." Emily joked. "And Sam if you dare touch that chicken I'll kill you." She warned.
"Sorry man but you are predictable."
"I wasn't going to do anything!" Sam shouted as he had his hands up in defence.
We then walked into the living room where we heard loud noise echoing the house.
"Dude you have to embrace the moment!" I heard none other than my loud friend Quil exclaim.
"Yeah, take it. You like him and you're rolling in the sheets with him!"
"I don't guys. He's just a bloodsucker like anyone we know. Why would I be screw-" Leah said but was cut off by Emily.
"Leah! Children!" she reminded. Dove looked absolutely oblivious as she fiddled with the necklace Renesmee made for me for our two year anniversary.
"Oh hey there Em, we were just talking about you!" Quil exclaimed.
"Oh I'm sure you were." Sam growled at him. "Hey Dove, why don't you head into your room with Kameryn and I'll play mermaid land with you," He said. She nodded and I set her onto the ground and I watched her run fast as her little six year old legs could take her.
"Don't run to fast Dovey!" Em exclaimed. Renesmee and I took our seat on the only open one-armed couch available where she was sat on my lap.
"Emma!" Renesmee shouted. I titled my head to see Renesmee staring at the blonde girl sitting beside Embry.
"Wow! Small world, good to see you Ness," She answered as they got up to give each other hugs.
"How did you-" She questioned.
"She demanded to know what was going on so I decided to tell her about me." Embry answered as he smiled at his imprint.
"So you know about them?" Renesmee asked. Emma nodded.
"Yeah, I really didn't expect to know that you turn into actual wolves and not like an ape. And I found out that you're a vampire. Again! Not what I expected!" She exclaimed and everyone laughed.
"Um, just to clarify on your previous statement but there is other wolves that turn into-" Seth began but we cut him off.
"That would be explained later." Sam answered and stared at me. I knew what he meant. Emma needed to be explained by the Cullen's themselves because they know more about the Children of the Moon more than us.
"Good day everyone!" I heard my father's voice echoing the room. I smiled when I saw my old man walking into the room with Charlie wheeling him from behind and Sue by his side. I got up to greet him in a hug.
"Hey pops." I said.
"How are you son?" He asked with the smile that I hear is identical to mine. The sources would be: Bella and Renesmee.
"I'm great I guess, it's good to see you again." I replied. He smiled back. I then greeted Charlie and Sue and the whole meeting started after that.
"So I guess you're all wondering why I brought together this meeting."
"Ugh, finally, was wondering when you were going to start." Leah said.
"Well the reason behind all of this is…" Sam began trailing off as he stared back at Emily who gave him a reassuring squeeze of the hand. "You've all noticed I haven't been phasing lately and that's courtesy the reason why I have to stop."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that I've decided to descend from my role as Alpha male." He said. Everyone gasped.
"You're joking right?" Paul asked.
"Of course he isn't. Same goes to when I 'let' eat my enter fridge." My father teased.
"I said I was sorry!" Paul replied.
"You guys have to understand that it was expected right?" Sam said. We all nodded in agreement. We were all bound to stop phasing soon enough so that we could live and die together with the people we loved that were not supernatural.
"We're going to miss you man," Jared said sadly as he gave Sam a handshake.
"You were a good leader." Paul said without any sarcasm this time.
"So who are you handing your role down to?" Charlie asked. Charlie has understood a lot about the supernatural for the past eight years.
"I was thinking Seth since he's the only person willing to live forever right behind Jake." He said. "That's if you're both okay with it?" He questioned as he stared at Seth and I. I gave Seth a shrug.
"Well I guess I'm the new Alpha?" He replied and the enter house screamed in happiness.
After all the cheers and congratulations to Seth being the new Alpha. We all decided to dig into the lunch. Since Paul was the Beta for Sam's pack you'd think he'd be jealous that he wasn't Alpha but surprisingly he wasn't. Since he knocked my sister up he knew he had responsibilities of his own. Yes! My sister's pregnant with angry Paul's kid. Much to my dad's 'pretend' angriness, I knew he was completely happy he was going to be a grandfather.
Speaking of babies, it seemed like everyone was completely in awe at how cute Kameryn was. Everyone just fell in love with him and the moment he threw his toy at Jared, we knew how mischievous he'd be.
Our lunch ended and all the girls were gathered in the living room talking about well girl stuff and mush-ing up on Kameryn whilst the us the 'guys' were outside the backyard relaxing on our drinks and talking about each other's lives and whatnot.
"I can't believe you got my sister knocked up Paul." I growled playfully.
"Hey, who said she mustn't be so good in bed?" He shrugged and everyone sniggered. This angered my dad very much that he wheeled forward and stepped on Paul's foot. "Ow!"
"That's for finishing my food!" My dad smirked. I chuckled.
"Hey I'm just going to get a refill." I told them and walked back into the house to get another drink. I stopped when I caught my Nessie sitting by the couch with Dove by her side and Emily and Rach talking to her.
"You're very pretty!" Dove exclaimed. "How did you become so pretty?" She asked.
"Honey that's no way to ask a question like that,"
"No it's okay Em" Renesmee said her and then faced Dove. "Okay, I'm pretty because I have lots of people in my life. And you know what else makes me pretty?"
"What?" Dove asked in anticipation.
"Birds, because you're the most beautiful bird I've ever seen." She said poking her stomach lightly. Dove giggled in delight. I smiled at the scene. I noticed Renesmee also had a sleeping Kameryn in her arms.
"You're so good with kids Ness. Ever thought of having your own?" Rachel asked. Damn it Rachel! What is that about?
"Um…when the time comes I guess."
"I'm sure both you and Jake would make wonderful parents."
"You think so?" Renesmee asked.
"Oh we know so!" Rachel and Emily said in unison. They all giggled. I glanced over at Nessie rocking the baby in her arms. I had to admit, I agreed with the girls. She looked so beautiful holding a baby. I thought a lot about having a family with Ness someday. I looked forward to it like I looked forward to every day I'd spend with her. I envisioned our future family the same way. I could see myself being woken up in the morning by the sounds of our children begging us to wake up on Christmas day. I could envision us sitting at a dinner table together, talking about how each of our days was. And saying goodnight to three little bronze haired children and reading them bedtime stories and getting to kiss each forehead and finally be in bed with my wife. Someday I wished I'd have that.
"Jake may I talk to you?" I heard my father call from behind me. I nodded and followed him as he walked into the nearby room.
"What's up?" I asked. He sighed.
"I know what you're feeling and thinking about." He said. I frowned.
"How would you say that?"
"You're thinking about your future with Nessie." He stated. My dad did know me well. "Look, I know how much you want to have a perfect future with your imprint and of course you can have that. But I feel like isn't it a little early? She's only 7!" He said.
"Actually she's turning 8 in two months." I reminded him. He chuckled.
"That doesn't make it any reason that she's still a child Jacob. I get that you love each other and having some urges…"
"Look dad, if this is the sex talk again then I have to remind you that I'm 27! I know all about it."
"I get that but there are situations where you'd have to make in the future and that are exactly what I'm trying to tell you about. I know how it's like to be a father, and being a father means not wanting to let go of a rope that should be wrapped around you. You'll understand one day when you have kids with Renesmee but I think you should discuss this with Ness before taking the next step in your little chapter."
"I get it dad. I'm sure Nessie and I wouldn't want to be parents just yet since we both have a lot of growing up to do." I joked. "Plus we're not even thinking about that right now. I'm not even ready to be a dad."
"No man is ready to be a dad but you'll know that it's your time when it happens." He said. I nodded. "Come here," He insisted. I smiled and gave my daddy a hug.
Our little meeting turned to a party at the Uley house ended when everyone began leaving back to their homes. It was getting late and I knew how Eddie was when his children come home past their curfew even if they're adults.
"Well today was amazing!" Renesmee said as we stepped into the house. I smiled.
"It sure was," I chuckled. I'm still surprised that Seth just became an Alpha. The hyperactive 15 year old I once knew is an Alpha of a pack.
"Hey, I'm just going to talk to my mom for a little bit I'll meet you back in a few okay?" She said. I nodded and gave her one small peck on the lips before walking into the living room where the Cullen guys were.
I couldn't help but think about what my dad and I talked about with the whole children thing. I did see myself as a father of my children and Ness as their mother in the future. But I didn't know when that would be.
"Jacob, I need to talk to you outside." Edward said. Damn it! Mind-reader again, I guess I'm going to get a punch in the face…again.
When I reached the backyard where Edward was standing on the back porch, I half expected him to launch himself on me for even thinking about having kids with his daughter.
"I'm not going to attack you Jacob." He said as he read my mind. Well that's a first. "I know how much you love Renesmee and I know you wouldn't let anything happen to her, I can also see the path you're both heading at with the children phase."
"But?" I said realizing a 'but' was on its way out of his mouth. He sighed.
"Jacob you do realize the outcome of this all right?" He questioned. I frowned not getting what he meant by that. "You're both two different supernatural beings, and your relationship could actually be forbidden. Think about your future off-springs? I've watched my wife in pain that I couldn't be able to bear, imagine what could happen to my daughter?" He said with a sad expression. My eyes widened. Why didn't I think of that?
"The outcome of her…dying." I said in pain. The word almost sounded rotten coming out of my mouth as I said it. Renesmee could die because of carrying my own child?
"Jacob, I have faith we can work it out but…"
"I get it." I muttered. I really didn't feel like talking about how I could possibly kill my own future wife.
"I'm sorry-" He began but trailed off as he smelled the air. He frowned and began walking into the house. I followed him after wanting to know what was going on.
When he walked to the door, he was stopped by Bella. She opened the door and then I heard a voice I wasn't quite familiar of but it sounded similar to Bella's but a more mature tune.
"Surprise!"
