Chapter 21

Carol's POV

First, I lost my sweet little Sophia to the woods. And now, Cara is on the verge pf dying due to a bullet. I don't know how much more I can take, before I lose myself. How did my life become so complicated? Before the end of the World, all I had to worry about was Ed and his violence towards us. Now, I have to worry about Walkers attacking the group and killing us all.

I was sitting on the porch swing, when Carl and Rick walked out. Carl was in tears, clinging to his father. "How is she?" I ask, my voice breaking.

Rick sat Carl down on the steps. "She is fighting, but she is losing a lot of blood. Hershel doesn't know if she'll make it with the supplies Otis and Shane went to get."

A sob left my throat as he talked. I stood up and ran off the porch, not being able stand what I was hearing.

Daryl's POV

I slammed my fist in the side of a broken-down car. Why did this have to happen to Cara? Why couldn't have been me? She doesn't deserve this shit! She's been through hell and back, living with that lowlife father of hers.

"Ah!" I scream, throwing my hands up. I felt the need to beat the shit outa something or kill a bunch of walkers.

I heard footsteps behind me and swung my body around. Glenn was standing there with his hands up, like I was gonna shoot him. "What do ya want?" I grunted.

I watched him visibly gulp. "Um… T-dog and I are gonna go up to the farm. I was wonderin' if you'd like to come to check on Cara. I know how close you two are."

I glared at him. "Nah, I think I will stay here for the night. Look for Sophia. That's what Cara would want."

Glenn nodded. "If you change your mind, the farm is two miles back the way we came. It says Greene on the mailbox."

I nodded, walking into the forest to be alone.

Glenn's POV

I sighed, turning away from Daryl's empty spot. I walked back towards the groups, only to see Dale helping T-dog into the Jeep. T-dog was mumbling to himself, looking disgruntled and frustrated.

"Oh, shut up. You are being a big baby." Dale says, helping T get settled into the Jeep.

T rolled his eyes. "I don't need ya help, Dale."

I snickered, watching them bicker back and forth. "Okay, that is enough. I think that it is time to go." I put up my hands to stop them from talking.

Dale handed me a couple of bags to throw into the back of the car. "I am guessing that Daryl isn't going to make it."

I shook my head, slamming the trunk. "Said that Cara would want him to look for Sophia."

Dale nodded in understanding as I got into the car. I waved goodbye to him and Andrea as I started to drive away. I sighed as T closed his eyes to relax for a few minutes.

I am coming, Cara. Stay strong.
