"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss your bride."
Sesshomaru took Kagome into his arms, dipped her, and kissed her passionately as the crowd erupted into applause.
"Kagome, I love you." Sesshomaru muttered out between kisses.
"I love you too Sesshomaru." Kagome started giggling as she snuggled into his chest.
"What's so funny," Sesshomaru asked as he kissed her on the forehead, applause and cheering still going on in the background.
"I guess those tapes did work, it not only brought us back together but it's also given us something even more special," Kagome whispered as she squeezed him tighter and looked out into the foyer at all the smiling faces, happy for her and Sesshomaru and their long awaited union. He stared at her, unsure of what exactly she meant.
She removed one hand from Sesshomaru and placed it on her stomach and grinned from ear to ear. "Are you serious?" Sesshomaru exclaimed, shocked and ecstatic at the same time. She smiled, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks. He placed a hand on her stomach, where his future child was growing. A strong demon that was destined for greatness. He couldn't wait. This was the best day of his life.
3 years later
"Daddy's home," Kagome said as she opened her door. 2 little fur balls, a boy and a girl brushed past her and ran into the arms of their father, Sesshomaru. He picked them up and cuddled them as he was given sweet kisses.
If you would have told him 3 years ago that he would have been having twins, he wouldn't have believed you. It was a shock at first to both Sesshomaru and Kagome. He came home from work at a decent hour and dedicated more time to his family than what he did in the past. His father understood and was glad that his son finally understood how to balance his work and family life and was happy to retire, leaving the company permanently in Sesshomaru's hands.
He loved his life. He had children who admired him even with all of his shortcomings and a wife who stood by his side and loves him with all his flaws and gave him another shot when he didn't deserve one. He never thought he would ever be at a place in his life like this. He adored being a father. Being able to watch his children grow and learn was astonishing to him.
"Daddy, daddy look what we did," the twins said as they climbed down and led their father into the kitchen where they had made him a cake. He stared at the cake, unbelieving of what it said.
'Lets turn our family of 4 into 5,' that's what the cake said. His family was growing and he couldn't be given happier and he got an idea. Something that would make his memory forever on. Something that would make his children smile for the rest of their days and beyond.
20 years later
Sesshomaru and Kagome watched as their children packed up their bags to move our on their own. Kagome was silently trying to fight back the tears that threatened to fall because her babies were moving out even though they weren't quite babies anymore. Sesshomaru slid an arm around her shoulder and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead to try to ease the pain. He was so proud of his children, all 3 of them were moving on to continue their lives in another place. He guided Kagome away to give his children some privacy as he and Kagome went downstairs to the parlor to give them some privacy.
The children were all laughing as they cracked jokes on each other, smiled, and told old stories about their memories in the mansion. They were excited yet they were scared at the same time because this was the only home that they had ever known.
"Hey, what's this?" one of them asked. He was the youngest and looked most like his father with a red marking adorning each of his cheeks. He was holding a small square item. He shook it, unsure of what it could be.
"Looks like one of those old music thingies," their daughter said as she rolled her eyes and threw shoes into a box. She was the splitting image of Kagome except she had golden eyes like her father and adorable puppy ears on head.
"It's a cassette tape. People used to use them to record things and music used to be listened on them. Probably mom or dad's I bet. Possibly could even be grandpa's!" her twin exclaimed. He shook his head at both his brother and sister. "Idiots," he muttered under his breath as his twin threw a pillow at the back of head as she burst in fit of laughter.
"It's probably grandpa's, we shouldn't listen."
"Finders, keepers. Losers, weepers!"
"Let's listen to what's on the tape!"
The kids all went back and forth with each other until the youngest went over to the stereo and placed the tape inside and pressed play. He eyes his siblings with a mischievous grin and a familiar voice came through. One that they weren't expecting to hear.
Side A:
"Hello my children. This is your father Sesshomaru. I first want to let you guys know that I love you and that you guys mean the world to me and I wouldn't change that for the world. If you are listening to this, this means that you are old enough to understand. You're coming into an age where you won't need your Daddy forever. You're growing up, you're going to make mistakes, and you'll soon have a family of your own. I'm not perfect but I don't want any of you making the same mistakes that I did."
All 3 of them looked at each other. Not realizing that their dad had made the tapes for them. They all sat down around the stereo and listened intently to what was being said.
Number one: Love. Love hard and love with no fear in your heart. If you love someone, let them know. You don't want to miss out on your chance or opportunity that you might have. Go for it.
Number two: Make time for things that matter. Don't be so focused on yourself and what you have going on. If you love someone, let them know it and spend time with them. Don't put them on the backburner and just hope that they understand.
Number three: Never forget who you are, where you come from, and what truly matters. You are so special and no job position, no person, no degree, or anything for that matter can change that.
I know you guys think I'm perfect. That I can do no wrong in your eyes but one thing that you don't know is that I almost lost your mother… forever. I was selfish. I only thought about myself, and I hurt her in a way that I regret every single day but she stood by me because she loves me… and I love her and I love all 3 of you. Daddy will be right here whenever you need me. Mommy will be here too no matter what happens. If you ever need us, you came always come to us no matter what. I love you."
Fin.
