Hello everyone. Here is chapter 14. I hope that you will enjoy it. :)
Albert and Alfred were left speechless at the fact that their right flank had broken rank with their comrades and charged after the enemy only to be slaughtered by the enemy once they had reached the bottom of the hill and they had no idea that it was going to get worse.
This turn of events gave Haredi an idea as he used the same tactic twice to lure more of Albert and Alfred's men from the protection of their shield-wall into the awaiting swords or spears of the horsemen that waited below the hill as blood spilled onto the ground as the casualties mounted.
The battle lasted well into the afternoon and the sky was slowly getting dark, though, this meant that Albert and Alfred still have a chance to get reinforcements while Haredi knew that he needs to quickly break his enemy's shield-wall if he is to have any chance of winning.
Haredi knew that the enemy shield-wall has shortened and he went back to using his archers to fire at the enemy shield-wall with Albert as well as Alfred's respective armies using their shield for protection against the hail of arrows that rained down on them.
But what Albert and Alfred didn't know was the fact that Haredi has also got crossbowmen, who he has sent to the sides of the hill where the forest blocked the sides to the hill as they used that position to fire at their enemy while their shields were still up to protect them from the archers arrows.
This tactic worked as soldiers from both Albert and Alfred's respective armies were shot in their now-unprotected chest as many of them fell down to the ground no matter if they were injured or dead as the arrows kept flying from all sides, which led to a big and decisive moment.
One of the arrows managed to hit Alfred in the eye and this caused a major injury for the King as he knew that his chances of survival are now very slim while Albert was pulled out of the shield-wall by Leofric as well as many of Alfred's men, knowing that Albert needed to live to fight another day.
Just as Albert had been pulled from out of the shield-wall, Haredi had sent his infantry against the now weakened shield-wall and it still took some effort until Haredi's infantrymen finally broke through and they began slaughtering many soldiers that stood in their way.
Albert and Leofric had managed to escape the carnage as they were now hiding in a nearby bush while they watched as Alfred was hacked down by a gang of Haredi's horsemen, who had forcefully taken off Alfred's helmet beforehand and they were now butchering the defenceless King.
Alfred's loyal soldiers stood their ground as they tried to avenge the death of their King, though, their attempts were futile as they were cut down while the remaining soldiers of the dead King's army began routing as they attempt to get away from what they knew was certain death.
Despite their routing, Haredi's horsemen charged after them and the poor soldiers were cut down one-by-one as Haredi manages to secure his victory while Albert, along with Leofric, silently escaped in hopes of the chance of getting payback on what Haredi has done to their allies.
By the end of the day, thousand of corpses filled the slope as well as the top of the hill with Haredi eating his food amongst the dead or the dying while he took the time to smile at his victory, knowing that he has won a great victory and he already has his sights set on Albert's castle.
The next morning, he marched his army towards the castle and he began killing innocent civilians to show that it was no use resisting against him as he continued to make his way to the castle while other civilians started to panic as Haredi and his men made their presence known.
He forced the remains of Albert's army to surrender due to being greatly outnumbered and he also forced the nobles to have him crowned King while ousting Banderas in the process as well as sidelining Queen Maria as Haredi wanted to start a new dynasty that will rule the land for years to come.
Luckily, many people escaped Haredi and one of the ladies-in-waiting managed to get Both of Albert's children out of the castle alive before Haredi could find and kill them with this being the last thing that Albert would have wanted to happen to either of his two children as they are his future.
Albert and Leofric, who are in hiding, were forced to watch as their kingdom was now being ruled by Haredi with the sight reminding the former King of his failure to protect his kingdom from his rival and he could do nothing, but, walk away in shame of what has happened to his kingdom.
