Hi everyone! Thanks for all the reviews on the last chapter. I really appreciated them. This was a tough chapter because there was almost no Finchel, but I did my best to add stuff in based on the episode and on recent episodes. Hope you guys enjoy the second part of the 100th episode tomorrow. And of course, enjoy this chapter and leave a review if you want me to keep going!

Chapter 30: The Substitute

Finn heard a knock on his bedroom door. He deepened his kiss with Rachel, not wanting anyone to interrupt. The knock on the door got harder, and Finn just deepened the kiss more. Then he heard the door open as he and Rachel were forced to pull apart. He looked up and saw who it was.

"Kurt, what are you doing here?" Finn asked.

"My dad and I are having dinner here tonight, remember?" Kurt asked. Then Finn noticed someone else standing next to Kurt - someone he hadn't seen before.

"Are you having dinner with us too?" Finn asked. Could this be Kurt's boyfriend? He had to admit, it would be nice if Kurt got a boyfriend.

"Yeah," Kurt said. "He is. Rachel joins us for our family dinners all the time, so I figured I'd invite an extra guest, too, just as a friend."

"Hi, I'm Finn," Finn said, holding out his hand. "My mom's dating Kurt's dad."

"I know who you are," the boy said. "I've read about you and the New Directions on show choir blogs. You're talented, I have to admit. I'm Blaine, I'm the lead singer of the Warblers. Kurt and I met when he came to visit Dalton."

"Oh, yeah, I've heard about you," Finn said. So this was the famous Blaine. Finn pointed at Rachel. "This is Rachel, my girlfriend."

"I know who she is, too," Blaine said.

"I know who you are," Rachel said. "I've read about you and seen videos of you on show choir blogs too. You're very talented, Blaine. You're like the most talented high school show choir member I've heard, except of course for me and Finn."

Blaine smiled. "Thank you, Rachel." He turned to Kurt. "Kurt, are you sure this is the same loud, solo demanding Rachel you told me about? She seems so sweet!"

"When you're not competing against her for a solo!" Kurt said.

"Kurt, don't," Finn said.

"So, you're the quarterback, too, right?" Blaine asked Finn.

"Yeah," Finn said. "We've actually been doing pretty well this year."

"I thought about trying out for my school's team, but I'm too small," Blaine said.

"Okay, Finn, please don't start on football with Blaine," Kurt said. He took Blaine's arm. "Come on, Blaine. I want to show you my playbill collection."

"So that's Blaine," Finn said.

"He seems nice," Rachel said. She looked down. "I just wish Kurt hadn't made that comment about me and solos. Maybe what I said earlier wasn't such a great idea..."

Finn thought back to glee practice today. Rachel had asked the group what songs she should sing at Sectionals, and Santana had started yelling at Rachel in Spanish. "Yeah, maybe not."

"Sorry," Rachel said. "I just want to sing at Sectionals."

"I'm sure you'll get to," Finn said.

"I hope we can do a duet together," Rachel said. "I was so disappointed when our duet lost Sectionals last year."

"We should have won," Finn said. "Not those soulless automotons."

Rachel giggled. "That's true. How long do you think Mr. Schue will be gone?"

"I hope not too long," Finn said. "Sectionals is coming soon."

The next day, Rachel was on her way to the choir room when she heard talking inside the room. "Dude, what are you doing?" she heard Finn say.

"Kurt got us a substitute, so I'm buttering the floor," Rachel heard Puck say.

"But sectionals is, like, two weeks from now," Finn protested. Rachel agreed with Finn. What if the substitute didn't know anything about running a glee club?

It didn't sound like anyone else was concerned. "Hey, Gigantor. We're all gonna swap names, yo," Rachel heard Artie say.

Rachel started going into the choir room. "Um, did I hear something about a substitute?" she asked before she slipped.

"Yes! It works!" Puck cheered.

Rachel stood up. "Well, at least I didn't fall and break my talent. I'm fine."

"Oh, what the hell?" Artie grumbled.

A blond woman slid on the floor as she came in. Maybe this was the substitute. "Hola, clase," the woman said. "Nothing says bienvenidos quite like a buttered floor. Let's start with some introductions. My name is Holly Holliday." She pointed at Puck. "What's yours? Go."

"I'm Finn Hudson. I'm quarterback of the football team," Puck said.

"I'm Rachel Berry, his loud mouthed girlfriend," Santana said.

Brittany made a motion with her fingers. "I'm Mike Chang."

Holly didn't look impressed. "Those aren't your names. You know why I know that?"

"You're psychic?" Brittany asked.

"I know this because I recently watched a video of you guys performing at regionals, where you came in last," Holly said. "Maybe it's because the songs were about 30 years old, but..."

Rachel didn't like the sound of that. She and Finn had done an amazing job with those songs! "Those songs are classics," Finn protested.

"Those songs are amazing," Holly agreed. "But they sounded like somebody else's favorite songs. Not yours. Just sayin'."

"She speaks the truth," Brittany said.

"I'm not your average, run-of-the-mill substitute teacher," Holly said. "I want you guys to do things that you want to do. I want you to have fun in our fabulous but fleeting time together. What do you say we have class outside today?"

"It's raining outside," Mercedes pointed out.

"Well, then let's take a field trip to taco bell," said Holly.

"Oh, yeah!" Brittany cheered.

"Should we toke up some medical-grade marijuana? I wish," Holly said.

Marijuana? Now Rachel was even less impressed. They had to be practicing for Sectionals.

"It's really hard not to like this woman," Finn said.

Now even Finn was falling for her. "Okay, no. We can't just goof off all day. We have to write a set list for sectionals."

Holly looked at Rachel. "You're right. What songs would you like to do? Oh. Don't get asked that question much, do we?"

"Ms. Holliday is right. Mr. Schuester's set list sometimes seems like he hasn't listened to the radio since the '80s," Kurt said.

"He never listens to what I have to say," Puck said. "I want to do Forget You."

"Cee-Lo!" Holly exclaimed. "That's what I'm talking about."

"Snap!" Santana said. "Okay, excuse me? What would you know about Cee-Lo? 'Cause you're like, 40."

"Top 40, sweet cheeks." Holly turned to Brad. "Hit it!" Brad began playing the piano, and Holly began singing.

Holly: I see you driving 'round town
With the guy I love, and I'm like "forget you!"
New Directions: Ooh, ooh, ooh
Holly: I guess the change in my pocket
Wasn't enough
I'm like, "forget you!"
New Directions: Ooh, ooh, ooh
Holly: And yeah, I'm sorry
I can't afford a Ferrari
But that don't mean I can't get you there
I guess she's an Xbox
And I'm more an atari
Mmm, but the way you play your game ain't fair
I pity the fool
That falls in love with you
New Directions: Ooh, she's a gold digger
Holly: Well...
New Directions: Just thought you should know
Holly: Ooh, ooh, ooh
I got some news for you
Yeah, go run and tell your little girlfriend
I see you driving 'round town with the guy I love
And I'm like, "forget you!"
New Directions: Ooh, ooh, ooh
Holly: I guess the change in my pocket wasn't enough
I'm like, "forget yo
I'd still be with ya
Huh, now ain't that some shhhh?
New Directions: Ain't that some shhhh?
Holly: Although this pain's in my chest
I still wish you the best with a "forget you!"
Unholy Trinity: Ooh, ooh, ooh
Mercedes & Artie: Now, baby, baby, baby
Why'd you wanna wanna hurt me so bad
New Directions: So bad, so bad, so bad
Mercedes & Artie: I tried to tell my mama
But she told me, "this is one for your dad"
New Directions: Your dad
Mercedes: Yes, she did
Artie: Yes, she did
New Directions: Uhh...
Holly: Why
New Directions: Uhh...
Holly: Why
New Directions: Uhh...
Holly: Why, baby, baby
Unholy Trinity: Uhh..
Holly: I love you
I still love you
I see you driving 'round town with the guy I love
And I'm like, "forget you!"
Santana: Forget you, yeah
Holly: I guess the change in my pocket wasn't enough
I'm like, "forget you, and forget him, too!"
I said, if I was richer
I'd still be with ya
Oh, now ain't that some shhhh?
Although there's pain in my chest
I still wish you the best
Santana: Wish you the best
Holly: With a "forget you!"

"Let's go get some tacos!" Holly said.

"Yeah!" the New Directions cheered.

"Yes!" Holly agreed.

Rachel had to admit, this had been fun, but she didn't think it prepared them any more for Sectionals. And if they lost Sectionals, what would happen with glee for the rest of the year? She had to go to Nationals in New York! She just had to.

The next day wasn't very good at preparing the glee club for Sectionals either. Rachel hoped the third day of Holly Holliday as glee club director would prepare them better, but she didn't know. Just when Rachel was thinking about it, Holly approached her at her locker. "Hey, Rachel."

"Hello, Miss Holliday," Rachel said. "I'd like you to know that I have a very severe bruise on my right buttocks from your game of gangsta rap musical chairs. I'll be going on record with the school nurse later today."

"Rachel, you suck!" Holly shouted. "Oh, my God, you're like a total drag. Has anyone ever told you that?"

"I have!" Puck declared as he passed.

Holly reached into her pocket and handed Puck some papers. "Oh, Puckerman, here are the answers to the pop quiz I'll be giving in Spanish class later. It is so boring in there."

"Thanks, Miss H," Puck said as he walked away.

"Righteous," Holly said.

"You know what?" Rachel thought out loud. "Maybe I should be more like you. All fun, and just forget about the consequences."

"Well, frankly, yes, you should," Holly agreed. "I mean, at least sometimes. When was the last time that you did something just because you thought it would be a blast? Take Glee Club. I mean, you have all these great ideas. When is the last time you actually did one of them?"

Rachel realized Holly had a point. She did have a list of songs she wanted to do, but was afraid to ask. "Mr. Schue can be a little tight-fisted with song selection, but I would like to do something a little bit more upbeat and glamorous with a good dance beat."

"Sounds reasonable to me. Have you asked?" Holly asked.

"The week before you came, I told him I wanted to do an upbeat song with a glamorous dance beat, but Mr. Schue said no," Rachel remembered.

Holly sighed. "Rachel, I used to be just like you, trying to get everything so right, hanging on so tight."

"What happened?" Rachel asked.

"I got punched in the face," Holly said. "Anyway, why don't you let me know the name of this upbeat, glamorous song with the nice dance beat, because, hot stuff, you are doing it in Glee Club."

"I kind of need a partner to do the song I wanted," Rachel admitted.

"I thought you'd never ask," Holly said. "That's kind of my catch phrase."

Rachel smiled to herself. "The closing number to Chicago." It was a two person number, and she'd need a female partner. She didn't think any of the other girls would say yes to doing it with her.

"I love that movie!" Holly said. "How about we dress up like they do for that number?"

Rachel would have loved that idea. "I like that idea, but I don't know if we can put together those costumes."

"Oh, I have them!" Holly said. "I always have things on hold for substitute teaching."

"That's awesome!" Rachel said. "So you know the song?"

"And the dance!" Holly added.

"Can we do it tomorrow?" Rachel asked.

"I thought you'd never ask!" Holly said.

The next day, Holly had brought in the costumes and they'd gone to the auditorium so the glee club could see them do the song Rachel wanted to do. Rachel was so excited to be wearing the costumes that looked like the ones from the movie, and as she and Holly performed, she was surprised by how well her substitute teacher knew the dances.

Rachel and Holly: You can like the life you're living
You can live the life you like
You can even marry Harry, but mess around with Ike
And that's good
Isn't it? Grand
Isn't it? Great
Isn't it? Swell
Isn't it? Fun
Isn't it? But nothing stays
In fifty years or so
It's gonna change, you know
But, oh, it's heaven
Nowadays
And all that
Jazz!

At the end of the number, the glee club members cheered, and Rachel and Holly ran up to each other and hugged. Then Rachel went to Finn in the auditorium. "So, what did you think?"

"I could never do those dance moves!" Finn said.

Rachel laughed and kissed her boyfriend. "Miss Holliday told me that I need to loosen up more."

"Well, there's nothing wrong with wanting to win, but glee club shouldn't just be about winning," Finn said. "It's about fun, too."

"I agree," Rachel said. "And it has been a lot of fun."
