Ned sliced a piece of watermelon and got lost in thoughts. He couldn't seem to get Mac's screams out of his mind. He felt sorry for the kid. Suddenly Jack's face popped infront of him and Ned felt a sharp pang of guilt. He had betrayed his best friend. But what choice did he have. He had to do this or else...

The door bell again and again and Ned frowned. He washed his hands getting irritated at the sound "I'm coming!" he yelled and walked out from his kitchen to open the door. On seeing the visitor's face, Ned's eyes shot up, his heart thumped widly and the hair behind his neck rose up in fear. There on the doorstep stood none other than Jack with a deadly cold expression on his face

"Hello Nedson McKenzie" Jack called his friend with full name which meant his visit was strictly business. He could also see few officers standing behind him. All the colour drained from Ned's face and he wiped the beads of sweat from his forehead. He tried his best to remain calm "J..Jack what a surprise. Didn't know you had my address..not that I'm complaining" he chuckled nervously avoiding eye contact with the man

Jack followed the same outward calm and asked "Where is he Nedson?"

Ned very well knew Jack was asking for the kid but he screwed his face in confusion "Who Jack?" The agent shared a look with Matty and took a step forward, eyes blazing with anger "I asked you a question. Where is he?"

Ned swallowed hard "I really have no idea what are you talking about" Jack finally lost all the self control and grabbed Ned by his collars. He pinned him to the nearest wall. Bozer and Cage came forward to refrain Jack from his voilent act but one look from the older man made them froze in their spots. Even Matty was shocked at the sudden outburst but she knew how Jack was feeling betrayed right now. He needed to know why Ned lied to him and where was he hiding Mac

"Nedson McKenzie you listen to me and you listen to me carefully. I'm going to ask you one last time" Jack added pressure on Ned's throat who nodded nervously "Where is he?"

Ned finally gave up knowing it was useless pretending "I'm so sorry Jack! Please you've to understand...I didn't want to hurt the kid but...I was helpless...please believe me. I did kidnap him but...I had no choice...please believe me"

Jack was furious with his friend wanting nothing more but to strangle the man to his death "Believe you?" he shook Ned roughly by his collar "You kidnapped my friend! You lied to my face and you expect me to believe you? I trusted you Ned...I thought you were my friend"

Tears fell from Ned's eyes "I had no choice Jack...please believe me" Jack ignored his pleas " I don't want to hear any excuses. They mean nothing to me. Where is Mac now? Is he alright?"

Ned nodded in defeat. He knew this was over. If he told Jack where Mac was held then he might loose someone close to him forever. But he also couldn't let Mac suffer because of him. The kid didn't deserve this. Ned sighed sadly. Atleast one kid will get to live "I'll take you there" he spoke in a low voice and Jack let go of his collar. He pulled Ned by his arm "Boss let's go get Mac back" Matty nodded and the team followed Ned and Jack.

FAR AWAY FROM THE CITY

Mac slowly regained consciousness and then everything hurt. His mouth felt dry and each breathe he took shot pain through his chest. His leg throbbed as if being poked by pins and needles. He slowly opened his eyes and was confused on seeing a new place. How did he end up here? Oh yeah it was Harold's doing. Damn I hate him so much, Mac huffed out a breath. The agent then heard footsteps coming closer to him and he closed his eyes fearing it was the bully again

A hand to his shoulder and Mac tensed "Are you alright?" he heard a soft voice and Mac knew the voice didn't belong to the bully. He slowly opened his eyes and saw a boy not more than fifteen or sixteen years was standing next to him. What was he doing in a place like this. The boy gently squeezed his shoulder "I said are you alright?"

Mac slowly nodded "Who...who are you?" The boy had tears shone in his eyes "They kidnapped me too" Mac kinda guessed it but still he was shocked "Why?"

"I don't know...but I think they want something from my father" said the boy. Mac slowly sat upright with some help from the boy "Who's your father? What do they want from him?"

"My name is Joe McKenzie and..."

Mac's eyes widened "McKenzie?" Joe nodded so Mac continued "Wait so ...are you Ned McKenzie's son?" Joe nodded again with a lost look on his face. Mac now could easily slove half of the puzzle. Ned kidnapped him because someone had kidnapped his son. That's why he was always lenient towards him. The man did what any father would do if a son's life was at risk. He regretted talking back to the man when he brought smoothie for him "Don't worry we'll..."

The door pushed open and in walked Harold with a smug look "Move back" he ordered Joe and the boy literally ran back to the corner of the room. Mac glared at the bully for scaring the boy. Harold came forward and grabbed Mac by his arm "Let's go. He wants to meet you"

This time when Mac was made to stand on his feet, Harold gave him a stick for support "Grab this and try not to fall" he then dragged Mac viciously out of the room ignoring the painful yelps and gasps coming from the younger man. Mac kept losing his footing and he stumbled couple of times but Harold's hard grip on his arm stopped him from falling.

They walked for few minutes and finally reached to a room. Mac saw a two set of couch, coffee table and a fireplace in the room. Harold then dumped Mac on one of the couch who cried out in pain and tried to adjust a position that was less painful

"Here he comes kid" said Harold and moved away from Mac's view

No! No...this is not possible. Is it really him or was he hallucinating. Why would he kidnap him? How could he do this? Mac's mind was swirling in confusion and doubts. This is not happening. He had to be dreaming. This is so not real. The person spoke and Mac's heart stopped "Hello son"

"D...Dad?"

I choose Mac's dad as the bad guy because we haven't met him in the show yet so we aren't sure if he is the same good guy from Mac's childhood. I hope this slight character change didn't disappoint you guys and hope you stay with me for rest of the story. Do review please...I need to know if you still want more :-)))
