Ray Tanaka: Hey, everyone! Yeah, it didn't take me over a year to get to the next chapter! I'll try to get this done on a monthly basis at best so that I could keep this going. Wish me luck. Also, if you get the movie reference I made, you get an internet point.
The Celt
(A bearded man with a brown cape and pants with blue paint on his body swings around a sword while standing in front of a black background.)
The savage barbarian who dominated Europe and helped usher in the Iron Age.
(A Celt armed with a Long Sword runs to a Roman soldier and quickly knocks the soldier back with his shield before slashing him across the face.)
The Egyptian Soldier
(A man wearing a white skirt and a white cloth helmet stands in front of a black background as he thrusts a spear forward towards the camera.)
The trained soldiers who helped expand the Pharaoh's kingdom pass the Nile.
(An Egyptian Soldier armed with a Spear runs alongside a chariot before stopping in front of an enemy before thrusting his spear through his chest.)
WHO IS DEADLIEST?
To find out, our world class fighters are testing history's most lethal weapons. Using twenty-first century science, we'll see what happens when the two warriors go toe-to-toe.
No rules, No safety, No mercy: It's a duel to the death to decide who is...
The Deadliest Warrior
In the Fight Club outside Los Angeles, California, four men are practicing with weapons that seem like they span from different ages. Two men who appear muscular are wielding a sword and a spear while two other men with one wearing a fez have a bronze mace and bow while getting ready for the tests.
Welcome to the Fight Club, where a team of combat experts, scientists, and doctors who have gathered to see who would win between two warriors from the ancient world.
The Celt: The war loving barbarians who dominated Europe with their ferocity and raw fighting skills.
Vs...
The Egyptian Soldier: Trained warriors from the Nile who fought their enemies in the name of the Pharaoh.
Celt:
Height: 6'
Weight: 180 lbs.
Armor: Leather
Year: 400 BC
Egyptian Soldier:
Height: 5'3
Weight: 125 lbs.
Armor: Cowhide Shield
Year: 1500 BC
A man with brown hair wearing a green jacket over a white shirt with brown pants and a lightsaber on his belt is holding onto a bow and pulls the string back without an arrow.
Lead biomedical scientist and Jedi Knight, Marcus Jennir, will use equipment to help test the killing power of these weapons.
"These two warriors are bringing some interesting weapons," Marcus comments, "These weapons come from the Bronze and Iron Age, so it'd be interesting to see how things play out.
A woman with brown hair in a doctor's surgical uniform and a lab coat takes an arrow out of a foam torso before examining the wound.
Forensic scientist and surgeon, Hope Woods, will provide medical knowledge to the injures that the weapons can deliver.
"These warriors are lightly armored and rely on shields for defense," Hope says, "Meaning that these weapons are going to just as lethal as they normally would."
A man with cybernetic gear on the left side of his face, with a red light acting as his left eye and a trench coat covering his body, is typing on a computer some test data into a software program.
Former Cybernetic Police enforcer and computer whiz, Dexter "Hacker" Reed, will impute the weapon's data into a simulation developed by Slytherine Studios to determine a winner.
"For this battle, we'll be factoring in chariots," Dexter states, "This means that the weapons will cause more damage and have a greater force behind them."
Due to the addition of chariots, both warriors will be in teams of three with a driver along with a passenger and a defender to protect the chariot. The simulation will run a thousand battles between the Celtic chariot team and the Egyptian chariot team. The winner will be the Deadliest Warrior.
A man with black hair in an overcoat and a red sash around his waist wields a short spear and thrusts it into an foam torso.
Renator Arellano, an expert on Egyptian tactics and weaponry, will lead the Egyptian Soldiers into battle.
"The Egyptian soldiers were some of the best warriors in the Bronze Age," Renator states with pride, "I have no doubt that we'll emerge victorious."
At a table, an old man wearing a red fez and grey Egyptian robes with a white collar picks up a curved sword and looks over it.
Ardath Bey, an expert in the history of Egyptian culture, will help in testing the weapons of Egypt's ancient army.
"The kingdoms of Ancient Egypt had produced many great warriors," Ardath says to the camera, "And those of the New Kingdom was when they were at their prime."
After Ahmose I succeeded in the campaign of expelling the Hyksos rulers, he found the Eighteenth Dynasty and marked the beginning of the New Kingdom of Egypt. Using many of the technical innovations brought by the Hyksos, the Egyptian military began to use the bow as the principal weapon and the use of war chariots to combat other major powers of the Middle East. This also lead to the creation of a firm organization of professional soldiers as they conquered foreign territories such as Nubia. With these new innovations, they would engage other powerful Near Eastern kingdoms in battle, such as the Mitanni and the Hittite.
"The Egyptians took what they learned and forged a new army to combat their enemies," Ardath says, "It was through this that the New Kingdom became a formidable foe."
The Egyptian experts are confident in the soldiers of the New Kingdom. However, the experts of the Celts are just as confident in their warrior.
A man with long brown hair and wearing a green tunic and brown pants wields a club as he smacks a punching bag with it.
Edmund Grant, a Scottish expert on his Celtic ancestry, will help represent his ancestors and lead them into the fight.
"To the Celts, war was a sport," Edmund states, "They had no rules of engagement and did whatever they needed to do to get the job done."
Another man with brown hair and beard wearing a red long sleeve shirt and blue jeans takes a sword from a table and examines it.
Darien Logan, an expert in the history of Celtic culture, will also represent the Celts and help test their weapons.
"Celts are well known for taking the heads of their opponents," Darien comments, "They would preserve them and then hang them around their houses or on their chariots."
As one of the first iron works in Europe, the Celts helped usher in the Iron Age and would use the new iron weapons to conquer much of the continent by 500 BC. However, they weren't united by a single empire and instead set up many tribes across the land similar to the Native Americans. Though the majority of these warriors were levies, they still proved themselves to be worthy adversaries despite their lack of training or discipline. During a time known as the Le Tene era, many tribes went on to sack Rome in 386 BC before being repealed. While they those on the continent were eventually conquered by the Romans, the Celtic tribes in Britain would cause the Romans to halt their advance further inland.
"Even the Romans had a hard time in taking out the Celts," Darien adds, "And their culture actually had many elements that are still seen today."
Both teams are certain that their warrior would win, but do our experts feel the same?
"I'd have to side with the Egyptians on this one," Dexter states, "They are professional trained and would be able to take out more barbaric warriors."
"I'm going to have to say the Celts on this one," Hope says, "They are centuries ahead of the Egyptians and they're using iron weapons instead of bronze."
The Celts are willing to show this advantage off with their choice for medium range.
Edmund picks up a spear with a wavy spear head from a table and proceeds to take it to the experts.
The Lancea: A deadly spear that was highly effective in battle and could be used as a javelin to take out another target.
Lancea
Length: 84 inches
Weight: 4.72 lbs.
Substance: Iron and wood
"This is the Lancea spear," Edmund tells the experts while showing off the Lancea, "This spear can easily be used as a javelin when needed and even the Romans used this weapon."
"I like the spear head," Marcus comments, "Any reason why its wavy like that?"
"It reduces the friction and allows for deeper penetration," Darien replies, "Which also means it causes more trauma."
"Well, we have something to test that out," Hope says as the experts lead the Celt experts to a test.
To test the Lancea, a ballistics foam torso will be used and an accelerometer will be strapped to measure the impact of the thrust.
In front of a ballistics foam torso, Edmund is hold the Lancea while Marcus straps the accelerometer to the shaft.
"That'll do it," Marcus says as he finishes.
"I don't even feel it," Edmund says with a smirk before Marcus walks back to where other experts are.
"Edmund, are you ready?"
"Ready," Edmund replies as he preps himself.
"On three," Dexter counts down, "Two, one, go!"
Edmund quickly thrusts the Lancea into the center of the chest of the foam torso before pulling it back and allowing blood to pour out of it. Taking a step back for a second, he performs a second thrust that makes its mark into the target's neck. Edmund takes the Lancea out and raises it up as the experts walk up to look at the damage.
"Okay, I can safely say that both are kill shots," Hope says as she explains the injuries, "Your first hit the heart and you can tell from the blood pouring out that it caused major damage. The second hit would hit the spine and break it, which also causes a kill."
"It seems like a traditional blood bath for a barbarian," Ardath says as he looks at the target, "But perhaps a waste considering the length. Perhaps a shorter weapon would do the job better."
"Perhaps I'd like to see that done," Edmund replies, almost like accepting a challenge.
Our Egyptian experts believe that their weapon the better weapon to use.
Renator grabs a spear with a regular spear head and takes it from the table with Egyptian weapons.
The Egyptian Spear: A short spear that is used by the regular soldiers as their main weapon to protect the chariot.
Spear
Length: 60 inches
Weight: 3.15 lbs.
Substance: Bronze and wood
"This is the typical spear of the Egyptian Soldier," Renator says while holding the Spear, "Considering how important the chariot is, the defenders used this spear to protect them from attackers on foot."
"Why would the Egyptians use a short spear?" Dexter asks.
"These weren't just used by the regular soldiers," Ardath remarks, "The archers in the chariots were known to have a few in case they ran out of arrows."
"Well, shall we test it out?" Marcus inquires.
"Of course," Renator answers before following the experts to the test.
Much like the Lancea, a ballistics foam torso will be used for the test with an accelerometer attached to the Spear.
Marcus finishes setting up the accelerometer on the Spear before Renator nods and the expert gets out of the way.
"Renator, are you ready?"
"Yes!"
"On three," Marcus counts down, "Two, one, go!"
Not wasting a second, Renator thrusts the spear into the stomach of the foam torso on the right side of the target. Pulling the Spear out and taking a step back, he performs a second thrust that hits the center of the chest. Once again pulling it out, Renator lifts the spear up as blood pours from the second wound and the experts walk over to examine it.
"Your second strike is a definite kill shot," Hope tells them as she explains the wounds, "However, your first strike probably hit some of the internal organs and, more importantly, the large intestine. This would cause bodily waste to get into the body and basically kill this guy soon."
"A nasty way to go," Darien remarks, "But you could have gotten a better strike in to kill an opponent."
"Perhaps you're right," Ardath says calmly, "But I doubt this would determine which is better."
"You'll be right in that," Dexter states, "There's one more thing we need to test."
Since both warriors use their spears like javelins should it be necessary, the second test will be used to determine their use when thrown.
Both Edmund and Renator stand next to small stands with two Lancea and two Spears respective as they looks down to see two pigs hanging from the ceiling.
Both experts will throw their weapons at pig corpses as an analog for a human. They will only have two throws to prove the weapon's effectiveness.
"Okay, Renator, you're up first," Marcus says before said expert takes a Spear from the stand and gets ready to throw it. Taking a second to prep himself, Renator throws the Spear at the pig but only manages to just graze it, leaving a shallow wound on it. Getting the second Spear and getting back into position, he throws it and the Spear goes through the pig with half of the spear head sticking out of the back.
Now it's time for Edmund to throw the Lancea.
Taking a Lancea from the stand, Edmund gets into position to throw the spear before throwing it at the unharmed pig. The Lancea glances it and leaves a deep wound that causes it to tumble to the ground as the pig starts to bleed. Quickly taking the second spear, he gets into position again and throws the Lancea, which hits the target and goes through with a third of the weapon sticking out of the back.
"Well, the spears sticking out of the bodies are kills," Hope explains as she looks at Renator's target, "So we'll skip over those. The graze on your target is shallow, so it won't kill. However, it would take someone down if this happened to someone's leg."
Renator nods while Hope continues as she goes over Edmund's target, "Now, this first wound would take someone down the same way. In addition, a wound this deep could cause them to bleed out if left untreated."
"Alright," Marcus says, "So, both weapons delivered a killing strike and a glancing wound. Good job on both sides."
Both weapons are certainly lethal, but which weapon gets the edge?
"I'd have to give this one to the Lancea," Hope tells Dexter, "It's better for both melee combat and as a ranged weapon."
"I'd have to agree," Dexter says, "Plus, the wave pattern it has makes it more deadly and it's got a longer reach."
For medium range, the Celts get the edge thanks to the Lancea.
The experts are getting ready for more tests to determine a victor between two warriors who made use of chariots. However, there is one element from each warrior that must be considered: an X-Factor.
For the Celts, their working with iron allowed for a variety of weapons and armor to use.
"Celts didn't just have sword and spears," Darien states, "Each tribe used a variety of weapons including dagger, bows and axes along with having scale armor and chainmail."
On the other hand, the Soldiers of the New Kingdom had adopted new techniques for battle.
"The soldiers of the New Kingdom would fight alongside their Pharaohs," Ardath says to the camera, "And the innovations taken in by the Egyptians allowed them to emerge victorious in several battles."
One of these innovations from the New Kingdom has now become an icon of Ancient Egypt.
"This weapon wasn't in use before the New Kingdom," Ardath says as he picks up a Khopesh, "But it became one of the soldier's primary weapons after its introduction."
The Khopesh: A deadly sickle sword that allowed the Egyptians to carve up their opponents.
Khopesh
Blade Length: 17.5 inches
Length: 24.19 inches
Weight: 2.12 lbs.
Substance: Bronze and wood
"This is the famous Egyptian sickle sword or Khopesh," Ardath tells the experts while holding the Khopesh, "Many cultures have had swords based off the gardening sickle, but the more well known examples have come from the New Kingdom."
"Seems small for a sword," Marcus says with slight curiosity.
"Bronze weapons couldn't be made too big," Ardath explains, "Besides, the curved nature of the blade allowed the user to rid an opponent of their weapon if needed."
"Well, I'd like to see how it performs," Dexter says.
"I knew you would," Ardath says with a calm smile.
To test the killing power of the Khopesh, the weapon will be tested on a ballistics gel torso, simulating human flesh and bone.
Ardath looks at a ballistics gel torso while holding the Khopesh and nods at it before grasping the weapon with both hands.
"Ardath, are you ready?"
"Ready, sir."
"On three," Marcus counts down, "Two, one, go!"
Ardath swings the Khopesh at the neck of the ballistics gel torso and the blade embeds itself half way into it. Taking it out, he quickly performs a diagonal slash across the torso's chest before redirecting the Khopesh for a slash across the stomach of the ballistics gel torso. This causes blood to splash towards the left of the testing.
"I believe that will do." Ardath says as he takes a breath.
"Okay, let's work backwards on this," Hope states as she starts to explain the wounds, "The slash to the stomach would cause the victim to bleed out and would cut open the digestion track. So, again, the bodily waste would get into the body. The slash to the chest would be even worse thank to the curvature of the blade. It will kill, but if it's not right then they may still live."
"What about the first strike?" Renator arrogantly asks.
"That's definitely a kill blow," Hope says as she gently moves the head to reveal the extent of the cut, "You managed to nearly cut the spine in half, so this would make it a beheading strike."
Despite the damage, the Celt experts aren't fazed by the test.
"This is boiled leather," Darien says as he presents a cuirass made of leather, "I want to see if your blade is able to cut through this."
"I won't mind doing that test," Ardath replies calmly.
A new test is quickly set up: a ballistics foam torso with a leather cuirass.
Ardath grasps the Khopesh with both hands as he stands in front of the ballistics foam torso wearing the cuirass.
"Ardath, whenever you're ready," Marcus tells him.
Performing a diagonal slash to the torso, the blade manages to cut through the leather cuirass only to stop upon hitting the shoulder.
"Well, let's get that destroyed armor off him," Marcus says after he and the other experts walk over to the set up and quickly takes off the leather cuirass. The ballistics foam torso only has a small slash wound on its shoulder.
"The armor did it's job," Hope says as she looks at the wound, "This would harm the victim, but they'll survive thanks to the armor."
Even with their armor, the Celts are prepared to unleash their own killer close range weapon.
"This happens to be one of our most uniformed weapons," Darien tells the audience as he picks up a Celtic sword, "After all, a Celt wouldn't be a headhunter without something to lop heads with."
The Long Sword: A blade of iron that gave the Celts a devastating weapon in close quarters combat.
Long Sword
Blade Length: 27.25 inches
Length: 34.25 inches
Weight: 2.56 lbs.
Substance: Iron and wood
"This is the Celtic Long Sword," Darien tells the experts while holding the Long Sword in his hand, "This blade would later on inspire many swords that will eventually evolve into the Spatha and the Viking Sword."
"So, this is considered your warrior's main weapon?" Dexter asks.
"Of course," Darien replies, "Considering that they're iron workers, it would make sense that they would be capable of using a blade of iron."
"Perhaps we should test it," Hope suggests.
"I would be more than happy to perform some tests," Darien says as the experts walk over to the testing area.
Much like with the Khopesh, a ballistics gel torso has been set up to show the killing power of the Long Sword.
Darien looks at the ballistics gel torso set up while holding the Long Sword before bringing his arm up as if ready to take a swing.
"Darien, are you ready?"
"Yes!"
"On three," Marcus counts down, "Two, one, go!"
Performing the swing he was prep for, Darien slashes through most of the neck of ballistics gel torso before violently ripping the blade out. He quickly goes lower and slashes the stomach of the target open before going up to cut through the left shoulder and only stopping because of the collar bone. Stepping back, Darien looks at the torso before performing one last swing that fully cuts off the head and makes it fall to the ground.
"Done!"
"Well," Hope remarks before picking up the decapitated head, "I can safely say that you proved that your powerful enough to be a headhunter."
"Great," Darien smirkingly says.
"Now, moving from this decapitation," Hope says as she explains the rest of the wounds, "Your strike to the shoulder would sever and it seems like the collar bone is broken. Your final wound would basically cut the internal organs and basically be a delayed kill."
Even with the similar results, the Egyptian experts aren't fazed by the brutal kill.
"We don't have much in terms of armor," Renator says with confidence, "But we'd be able to take you out before you'd be capable of killing us."
"Perhaps," Darien says, "But I believe the Celts have a way of delivering a kill without having to reach you."
"I'd like to see that," Marcus replies with a smile.
Much like many other chariot based warriors, the Celts were capable of using weapons from the back of their chariots.
Outside the Fight Club, Darien gets onto a reproduction of a Celtic chariot while holding a Long Sword before the chariot driver prepares to get them moving. A hundred feet ahead, a ballistics gel torso on a stand is at the ready with Marcus with the other experts armed with a radar gun.
As a final test, Darien will perform a single strike to a ballistics gel torso while on the back of a chariot.
"Sir, whenever you're ready," Marcus tells the chariot drive, "Charge!"
Almost immediately, the chariot gets under away with it gaining speed as it makes its way to the target. Darien prepares himself as the chariot closes in as it continues to gain speed before the target's in reach and he performs a slashing attack. The attack slashes through the nose of the target and quickly cuts through two thirds of the head before the blade leaves the skull as the chariot moves past it.
"Great job!"
"Well, this would be very quick," Hope says after the experts come over to the ballistics gel torso and the chariot is pulled back to them as the horses slow down, "You've basically made this guy into Pac Man."
"Nice," Edmund replies as Hope shows this by moving the top of the head up.
"You've cut through the nose and through most of the skull into the brain," Hope continues, "Which means that this would result in instant death. Just a little lower, you would have taken this guys head."
"A very graphic kill," Ardath says, "A perfect way to kill for a barbarian."
"You'd be right there," Darien replies with a smirk.
Both experts have proven that the blades of these warriors are just as deadly as their spears. However, which one would give an edge to their user?
"Both of these blades are primarily slashing weapons," Marcus say, "But the Long Sword is the better weapon as it has more length and thus, more surface area to deliver killing power as shown."
For close range, the Celt gets the edge with the Long Sword.
Coming up, the Celt continue their assault with a weapon that can bash heads in, and the Egyptian Soldier counters with a deadly weapon to take their opponent out in ranged combat.
The Celt or the Egyptian Soldier: who will be the Deadliest Warrior?
Back at the Fight Club, we're one step closer to reveal which of these two chariot warriors would emerge as the deadliest. So far, the Celts have managed to gain a sizable advantage with their weapons.
However, our Egyptian experts are ready to cut their advantage down to size.
"The Egyptians didn't just have the Khopesh for fighting up close," Ardath tells the camera as he takes an Axe from the table, "We'll see if the Celts can handle this."
The Axe: A tool of survival that the Egyptian Soldiers used as a weapon of war.
Axe
Length: 18 inches
Weight: 2.5 lbs.
Substance: Bronze and wood
"This is the Axe," Ardath says to the experts while showing the weapon, "This weapon was used as a replacement of the mace from the older kingdoms."
"So, you guys traded out a mace for the axe?" Marcus asks with some curiosity.
"As our enemies evolved," Ardath answers, "So too did our weapons."
The Celts have their own weapon to answer the Axe.
"This isn't anything fancy," Edmund states confidently while holding a Burda Club, "But it gets the job done."
The Burda Club: A hardened club with metal bands that can make quick work of an opponent.
Burda
Length: 24 inches
Weight: 4 lbs.
Substance: Ash wood, iron, and beeswax
"This is the Burda club," Edmund tells the experts while showing the Burda Club, "This weapon was more commonly used by the poorer Celts."
"I noticed that you have bands on it," Dexter comments, "I'm guessing that's to deliver more trauma?"
"Of course," Edmund replies, "Adds strength to the weapon."
To test both melee weapons, two ballistics gel torsos have been set up for the experts to take aim at.
"Okay, so here's what we want," Marcus tells both Ardath and Edmund, "You both will have a torso and will need to deliver at least two kill strikes to the target."
"Sounds simple enough," Edmund says confidently.
"I would manage that," Ardath states with a calm tone to his voice.
"Ardath, you're up first," Dexter states.
Ardath will have three strikes to prove the effectiveness of the Axe.
Ardath stands in front of the first ballistics gel torso grasps the handle of the Axe with both hands as he prepares himself.
"Ardath, are you ready?"
"Ready, sir," Ardath replies calmly.
"On three," Marcus counts down, "Two, one, hack it up!"
With the first strike, Ardath quickly performs a strike that causes the head of the Axe to be embedded into the chest. Pulling the axe back and freeing it from the torso, he next aims for the neck and manages to cut through half of the neck with almost ease. Taking the blade out of the neck, he quickly performs a final swing that cuts through the rest of the neck and causes the head to fall to the ground.
"That will do," Ardath says as he breaths deeply and steps away from the torso, blood quickly flowing out of both wounds.
"Okay, I believe we can easily skip the decapitation," Hope says with a slight chuckle as she uses her gloved hands to pull the chest wound open a bit, "Now, for your first strike, the blade has broken one of the ribs. This would result in an instant kill even if the weapon was kept in there."
"Great job," Darien tells Ardath, "That would kill an unprepared Celt."
"Considering the armor you have," Ardath replies, "I doubt it would protect you from the strike."
Now, it's Edmund's turn to show the lethality of the Burda club.
Edmund takes a breath as he stands in front of the second ballistics gel torso before preparing himself with the Burda in his right hand.
"Edmund, are you ready?"
"Ready."
"On three," Marcus counts down, "Two, one, go!"
Edmund immediately performs an overhead strike that causes the Burda to strike the top of the head. The strike quickly breaks open the top of the head and causes the skull to cave from the strike before he quickly delivering a strike to the right shoulder that breaks the collar bone. Stepping back, Edmund does a final strike to the chest of the torso and causes two of the ribs to crack.
"Done!"
"Okay, I can already tell what happened," Hope says as she looks over the ballistics gel torso, "Your first strike has broken in the skull and basically killed this guy. Your second strike has taken taken one of his arms out, and the final one has cracked the ribs. This won't kill, but a more powerful strike may end up causing a more lethal wound."
"The Egyptians may not have helmets to protect themselves," Renator smirkingly tells the Celt experts, "But we have experience with using blunt weapons, so we'd know how to counter it."
"Perhaps," Edmund replies, "But it only takes a single strike to break your arm."
Both teams of experts are confident that their warrior has the better weapon, but what do our experts think?
"I'd have to give this one to the Axe," Marcus tells Hope and Dexter, "The blade allows the user to cause more damage."
"For me, the Burda club has this," Hope replies, "The power behind it and the wounds that it can cause is simply more than the Egyptian can handle."
"Well, this one is simple for me," Dexter informs the other two, "The Burda may be capable of killing with a single strike, but the Axe can do the same and the Egyptians had it replace a blunt weapon that they used."
In a two to one vote, the Egyptian Soldiers get the edge in special weapons with the Axe.
With only one more round of testing to go, we're one step closer to determine the victor in a battle between the Celts and the Egyptian Soldiers.
As a way of taking out a foe at long range, the Celts have a light weapon that can kill with ease.
"We may not have the Celtic Bow for this," Darien tells the audience, "But the Sling is always available when needed."
The Sling: An ancient weapon used by many armies of the ancient world and has survived to the modern day.
Sling
Length: 60 inches
Weight: 8 oz.
Substance: Braided cord and leather
"Ah, the Sling returns," Marcus says with a smile as Darien approaches the experts while holding the Celtic Sling.
"Well, guess I don't need to explain much," Darien replies, "This particular Sling is much longer than normal slings to give us more range."
"That would help you greatly," Hope tells him, "Since we already have a test ready for you."
"Let's do this," Darien replies with confidence before following the experts.
To test out the Celtic Sling, a test with three ballistics foam torsos have been set up fifteen feet a part. However, another element will be used in this test.
Outside the Fight Club, Darien greets the driver of the Celtic chariot before getting on it and starts to put a rock into the pouch while the chariot is two hundred feet away from the first target.
Darien will have to send as many rocks as possible from the back of the chariot in a single pass.
"Sir, whenever you're ready," Marcus tells the chariot driver, "Charge!"
Instantly, the chariot starts moving forward as it gains speed easily from the horses pulls it to the targets. As it moves, Darien swings it above his head several times while the chariot seems to maintain the stability. On the fifth swing and nearly fifty feet away, he sends the rock towards the first target only to miss it by an inch. Quickly loading another rock in the pouch, Darien quickly swings it over his head again as the chariot passes the first target. On the third swing, he lets the rock loose and scores a hit on the head of the last target with the rock seemingly deflects as the chariot passes the final target.
Despite only one target being it, the Sling still proves its lethality.
The experts walk over to the final ballistics foam torso as the chariot pulls up with the horses coming to a stop.
"Alright, so this is actually worst than I first thought," Hope says as she looks at the crack in the head with a bit of blood coming out, "Your strike would have broken the skull and can send a piece of it into this guys brain. If he doesn't die from this immediately, he would eventually die from the injury."
Despite the deadly blow, our Egyptian experts are less than convinced.
"Why use a Sling when it doesn't have much accuracy," Renator says with a smirk, "However, we incorporated the bow into our arsenal once the New Kingdom was established."
The Hyksos Bow: The principal weapon that was adopted by the Egyptian Soldiers from the Hyksos Rule.
Hyksos Bow
Bow Length: 50 inches
Arrow Length: 28 inches
Weight: 1.65 lbs.
Substance: Horn, wood, and bowstring
"This is the Hyksos Bow," Renator tells the experts while holding the Hyksos Bow, "A weapon adopted along with the chariot from the Hyksos Rule over Egypt."
"So you guys will be bringing a composite bow to the fight," Hope comments with interest.
"Of course," Ardath replies with a calm smile, "The New Kingdom made it an important weapon with the passenger of the chariots mostly being archers."
"Well, how about we test it?" Dexter asks.
"Lead the way," Renator replies before following the experts outside.
Much like with Darien, Renator will be riding on the back of a reproduction of an Egyptian chariot to take out three ballistics foam torsos while passing.
Renator greets the driver of the Egyptian Chariot while holding the Hyksos Bow and five arrows with the chariot being two hundred feet away from the first target. He places the five arrows into the quiver on the chariot before taking one and knocking it on his bow.
Unlike the test with the Sling, the final target has a leather cuirass to see if the arrow can penetrate the armor.
"Sir, whenever you're ready," Dexter tells the chariot driver, "Charge!"
Almost immediately, the chariot starts making its way towards the targets with it gaining speed as the horses pull the chariot. Renator stay calm and keeps his bow down as the chariot continues to go forward. Once the chariot reaches seventy-five feet away from the first target, Renator brings the Hyksos Bow up and pulls the string up before firing the arrow. The arrow strikes the first target in the neck before Renator knocks a second arrow and draws the bow before shooting it just as the horses passes the first target.
The second arrow quickly goes into the left eye of the second target while Renator draws the bow again with a third arrow on the string. Releasing it as the chariot is about to pass the second target, he lets the arrow loose and it quickly strikes in the stomach of the third target before the chariot passes the final target.
"Great job!"
"Alright," Hope says as the experts reach the first target and the Egyptian chariot comes to a stop before Renator gets off, "So, your first arrow struck this guy in the neck and will kill him very quickly. Now, from looking at your second guy, I can see that it's a kill shot. It went into the eye socket and it may continue on, going into the brain and taking him down."
"Well, that's where I was aiming," Renator smirkingly replies as they walk over to the final target.
"Okay, so let's see," Hope says before pulling the arrow out and seeing blood on the first two inches, "Alright, so the cuirass did at least stop some of the force. However, it still went in and went into this guy's stomach. It won't kill him, but it will still hurt and leave him open to attack."
"So, you guys left a target alive," Edmund says almost mockingly, "Which gives us enough time to take you out."
"Perhaps," Ardath replies calmly, "But you left two targets alive during your test. At the very least, we halved the number of enemies we'll deal with."
Both weapons have been proven to be deadly, but which one gives their user the edge?
"This one is pure and simple," Hope states, "The Hyksos Bow has the greater killing power and is better to use when on a chariot."
For long range, the Egyptian Soldier gets the edge with the Hyksos Bow.
With the testing complete, Dexter will now load the results into the simulation program that will determine the winner.
Coming up, the final battle begins. The Celt versus the Egyptian Soldier, who will be crowned the Deadliest Warrior?
The final showdown has arrived; it's time to find out just who would in a chariot battle between the Celts and the Egyptian Soldiers.
For the Celts, we tested four weapons that they created and had available: the Burda club, the Lancea, the Sling, and the Long Sword.
For the Egyptian Soldiers, we tested four of the weapons they used in the New Kingdom: the Axe, the Egyptian Spear, the Hyksos Bow, and the Khopesh.
For special weapons, the Celt's Burda went up against the Egyptian Soldier's Axe.
"The Axe was used as a way of replacing the Mace used," Dexter says to the camera, "And the Axe was capable of delivering more damage than the Burda Club."
Edge: Egyptian Soldier
For medium range, the Celt's Lancea clashed with the Egyptian Soldier's Spear.
"This one is rather simple," Marcus states, "Both can be used in close combat and at range, but the wavy pattern of the Lancea spear head makes it deadlier and it has a reach advantage."
Edge: Celt
For long range, the Egyptian Soldier's Hyksos Bow butted heads with the Celt's Sling.
"This is a bow against a sling," Hope comments, "It's pretty obvious which one gets the edge here."
Edge: Egyptian Soldier
Finally, for close range, the Egyptian Soldier's Khopesh fought it out with the Celt's Long Sword.
"The Long Sword has a greater surface area to slash into a target," Dexter says, "And its longer than the Khopesh which gives the Celt more reach."
Edge: Celt
With the testing complete, Dexter loads the data into a program that will simulate a thousand battles between a Celtic chariot team and an Egyptian chariot team.
It'd be a battle of opposites.
War loving barbarians...
(A Celt runs shirtless to a Roman soldier with a Burda in hand before knocking the soldier to the ground and beats the soldier with the Burda.)
Vs. Trained soldiers
(An Egyptian Soldier on the back of a chariot draws his Hyksos Bow back before firing the arrow into a Mitanni invader's eye.)
Iron workers...
(A Celt wearing a cape and leather cuirass runs towards a Roman Soldier before blocking the soldier's sword with his shield before using his Long Sword to decapitate the Roman.)
Vs. Bronze warriors
(An Egyptian Soldier engages with a Hittite Soldier in melee combat before stepping back to dodge a swing from his opponent's sword and thrusts his Spear into the Hittite.)
Dexter presses some keys on the keyboard and starts the simulations.
-Fight-Start-
In a grassy field on the European continent, an Egyptian chariot is going through a field with the driver wearing two broad bands of leather across his torso holding the reins of the horses. Next to him in the chariot is an Axe within a spot to put spears and another man who is armed with the Hyksos Bow. As the chariot continues, a third man armed with a Spear in his right hand, a cowhide shield in his left, and a Khopesh strapped to his belt walks alongside it.
These men, in order of appearance, are Menes, Iahmesu, and Seti. They are Egyptian Soldiers sent ahead of the army to scout out for possible enemies.

About a hundred feet away, a Celtic chariot comes into the same field with the driver, who is wearing a leather cuirass and has a Long Sword on his belt, directs the horses with the reins. Next to him on the chariot is another man who is shirtless with tribal markings on it while having a Sling in his hands and Long Sword on his belt. A third man, who is armed with a Lancea and a wooden shield along with a Burda strapped to his belt, walks alongside the chariot as they continue into the field.
These men, in order of appearance, are Eógan, Feidlimid, and Cadeyrn. They are Celtic warriors haven arrived to investigate rumors of a foreign army coming to their land.

Looking around, Iahmesu spots the Celtic chariot and takes an arrow from the quiver on the chariot before nocking it onto the bowstring.
"(Seti, to arms!)" Iahmesu says to the soldier out of the chariot before turning to Menes, "(Menes turn the chariot towards them.)"
Menes nods before using the reins to turn the horses towards their seemingly unexpected foe. Only for Cadeyrn to quickly spot them.
"(Enemy spotted!)" Cadeyrn shouts to get the attention of the chariot driver and the slinger.
"(Feidlimid, get ready to attack!)" Eógan tells him as he has the horses turn while Feidlimid gets a rock from a small pouch on his belt and loads it into the pouch of the sling.
Upon the chariot being even with their foe, Menes flicks his wrists to get the horses going and the Egyptian chariot starts to move forward with Seti running after it. At the same time, Eógan does the same and the Celtic chariot slowly gains speed with Cadeyrn running with it. As the Egyptian chariot keeps going, Iahmesu takes aim with his Hyksos Bow and fires the arrow at Cadeyrn.
However, the Celtic warrior lifts his wooden shield up and blocks the arrow with it as he continues running and Feidlimid spins the Sling above his head. The Egyptian archer quickly takes another arrow from the quiver and nocks it before the Celtic slinger lets the rock loose and it strikes the archer in the forehead. This causes Iahmesu gets stunned from the rock and nearly falls out of the chariot as his Celtic counterpart throws the sling away and draws his Long Sword out.
At the same time, Cadeyrn stops short and throws his Lancea towards Seti who raises his shield up to block it. The spear head goes through it and Seti throws the shield over him that allows him to barely avoid being hit by it and he keeps going while Cadeyrn starts running again. Iahmesu shakes his head before trying to raise his bow up, but they chariots pass each other and Feidlimid swinging his Long Sword.
Once the two chariots pass, Iahmesu falls out of the chariot with his body rolling after his severed head.

Seeing his passenger being killed, Menes tries to have the horses turn to get Seti only for the chariot to hit a large rock and break the left wheel. As Menes has the horses slow down, Seti slows down as he and Cadeyrn meet each other before thrusting his Spear forward. However, the Celt blocks it with his shield as he takes his Burda in hand and swings the club at the Egyptian. Seti manages to jump back and tries for another thrust only for his foe to smack the head of the Spear down with the Burda.
At this time, Eógan has managed to have the Celtic chariot turn around and Feidlimid points his sword forward as Menes grabs the Axe from the chariot and runs towards Seti and Cadeyrn. Just as the Celtic chariot starts going, Seti sees his fellow soldier coming towards Cadeyrn before performing another thrust that makes the Celt block it with his shield. As he pushes the Spear back with his shield and prepares to swing the Burda again, the Celt hears Menes coming towards him and tries to turn to face him.
However, Seti thrusts his Spear under the shield and into the Celt's leg and causes Cadeyrn to scream in pain. Just as Seti pulls his spear from his foe's leg, Menes performs an overhead chop into the Celt's back and rips the Axe out of him.

As Cadeyrn falls to the ground, Seti turns to see the Celtic chariot bearing down on them and jumps out of the way as Feidlimid swings his sword. However, while Seti manages to get out of the way, Menes isn't able to reach fast enough and gets the front of his neck slashed open before falling down dead.

Getting back to his feet, Seti takes a step forward before throwing the Spear at the Celtic chariot to at least disable it. However, the Spear manages to strike Feidlimid in the back and causes him to scream before falling back out of the chariot. When the end of the spear hits the ground, it causes the spear to go further into the Celt before he rolls onto his chest and lays still.

Haven seen his friend being killed, Eógan slows the chariot down as Seti runs towards it with him taking the Khopesh from his belt. Once the chariot comes to a full stop, the Celt quickly turns and jumps off it before pulling out his Long Sword. The Egyptian slows down as the Celt runs forward towards him and swings his sword only for Seti to block it with his Khopesh.
Pushing the blade back, Seti performs his own slash that causes the Celt to jump back and the Khopesh makes a small cut into the leather cuirass. Taking a step forward, Eógan uses his left hand to throw a punch that connects with Seti's face. The soldier takes a step back in a daze before the Celt goes low and swings his Long Sword at his foe's left leg. Almost immediately, Seti cries out in pain as he falls backwards with his left leg now severed from his body.
Despite the pain, the Egyptian goes for another slash that ends up cutting through the Celt's pant leg and opens a wound on his right leg. Out of anger, Eógan uses his left leg to kick the Egyptian's arm back before kneeling down and grabbing his hand. Not wasting time, the Celt swings his Long Sword again and quickly takes off Seti's right hand. The soldier cries out in pain again while the Celt places his right leg on his left arm and takes off the Egyptian's helmet off.
Using the pommel of his sword, Eógan quickly smacks his foe in the head to stun the soldier before he brings his blade down in an overhead swing onto Seti's neck and severs it.

Grabbing the top of his foe's head, Eógan gets to his feet with Seti's head in his left hand before raising it into the air as he lets out a cry of victory.
-Fight-End-
"Out of a thousand battles, the Celts were able to win just over fifty-seven percent of the time," Dexter states as he explains the results, "This is because the Celts were able to close the distance and their armor was slightly better than the shields used by the Egyptians."
However, the Egyptian Soldiers didn't go down quietly. They claimed 428 kills with their Hyksos Bow and Spear being their best weapons.
Egyptian Soldier
Spear: 128
Khopesh: 98
Axe: 48
Hyksos Bow: 154
All-in-all: 428
The Celts ultimately claimed victory with 572 kills to their credit. This is thanks in large part to the killing power of their Lancea and Long Sword.
Celt
Lancea: 255
Long Sword: 201
Burda: 111
Sling: 5
All-in-all: 572
"It would make sense that the Celts won," Hope says with confidence, "Their iron weapons were better than the Egyptian's bronze weapons and they were able to deliver more lethal kills."
"The Egyptian's may have had range with their bow," Marcus states, "But the chariots closed that distance too quickly and gave the Celts a huge advantage."
"Perhaps the Celts can take out one of our chariot teams," Ardath comments with a calmness to his voice, "But that was simply one chariot. May be another battle could be done in the future."
"Of course the Celts would win," Darien happily says, "We had better weapons and we helped usher in a new edge of technology."
(Eógan drives his chariot back to his village with the head of Seti on it and his foe's Khopesh now strapped to his belt as a trophy.)
