CHAPTER 15

SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT

Okay, Beast Boy would have to admit he was sick of coming home with injuries. He couldn't hide them. He felt as if the wind had been knocked out of him, and he had this protruding-ly sore bruise on his back that would take quite a long time to heal.

Slade hadn't stayed long enough to watch his minions deal with Beast Boy and his teammates.

Beast Boy was grateful that they managed to escape from the minions, but not without injury. Not only was his back badly bruised but a second degree burn was edged around his rib cage and was beginning to throb much to his great degree of fatigue. Thus taking off his holo-ring as he made his way towards the tower. He did try to make his way through the front door of the T-tower as discreetly as possible. Almost there he wsoul his soul not seen, but...

"Beast Boy where have you been?"

Robin.

-/-/-

"Do we have to go through this again, Beast Boy?"

The green Titan shrugged. He could've really cared less about Robin's lecture now that he was in the tower's op-room, he realized he was one step away towards his comfortable worry-free bed. He couldn't help but smile at the thought as he imagined sleeping under his comfortable covers.

"Beast Boy, are you listening?"

"Wh—"

The leader sighed and Beast Boy was sure he saw him roll his eyes under his unveiled mask.

"Tell us where you were." Robin demanded sternly.

Beast Boy looked around the room. His other three teammates were standing around him with their worried looks he had became accustomed to. Starfire with her dopey jade bottled eyes, looking like pools of saddened green goop. Cyborg having his forehead wrinkled and eyebrows furrowed in concern. And Raven, he saw, didn't even glance at him, if all, he could've just mistaken her as having one of her "leave me alone" days. Thus Beast Boy couldn't help but feel miserable for causing his friends to worry, except for Robin and Raven whom he knew didn't care about him.

Gripping his hands, he stared up at Robin with defiance. He then stood up from his chair and attempted to walk away from the boy wonder until Cyborg—trying to cheer things up—wrapped his arm around the changeling's shoulder and patted him on the back saying, "what up Green Bean? Got your tidy widy's in a twist?"

Beast Boy was cautious and realized his back was beginning to hurt 10x worst, and what made matters worst was–Starfire in her worried state–tried cheering him up with giving him one of her bone crushing hugs. "It's okay Beast Boy. if you're having a bad day, I hope it can be brightened by a hug." Nonetheless, the green boy soon began to realize his body was in excruciating pain to the point he was pretty sure he was going to throw up.

After Starfire released him from her hug he feigned a smile and continued his way towards the exit of the ops-room, but before he was successfully out of the room Raven teleported in front of his way.

"Beast Boy, you have to stay here and tell us where you've been."

The green boy grimaced. He couldn't decide if it was for the pain that was soaring through his body, or the sight of his forbidden crush he didn't feel like dealing with right now...but both things weren't doing him any good.

"Well Raven, I don't feel like doing that right now. So please move so I can leave."

"You're not going to leave Beast Boy, you're going to stay here and tell us what's been causing you to act this way." Her face still held the unemotional mask, but with a twitch of her eyebrow Beast Boy could tell she was worrying too. However he didn't want to believe it.

"I'm not acting any way. And if I am, it's me growing a back bone and me actually having a life," he said with a slight edge, staring intimidatingly at Raven and Robin. "Also I'm not the first one to keep secrets around here." Trying another attempt at leaving, Robin stopped him this time. His face was contorted into anger from what he could tell, considering he did wear a mask.

"Beast Boy, first, you're going to apologize to Raven and second, you're going to stay here regardless if you like it or not."

The changeling sighed in aggravation. "Could you guys leave me alone?!" He boomed, his teammates stared at him in disbelief. Although this wasn't the first time he had let go, they were most definitely not used to his letting go. "I mean when Raven wants to be left alone, she's left alone. When you Robin wanna be away from us for a while, we stay away. Now, if you could move, I'm telling you I wanna be left alone."

And before he left the room, his stunned silenced teammates staring at him in shock and disbelief, he gave them one last look and said, "and me apologizing to Raven would have been something I would've done, but seeing clearly she doesn't accept any of my apologies anyway. I doubt she'll accept my begotten feelings for her, too."

-/-/-

Raven gobsmacked, had nothing grantable of her knowledge on what to do in this situation. Things were happening so quickly. The whole team was staring at her, excluding Beast Boy who was currently mad at her and miserable alone in his bedroom, she knew she had to scram. Her emotions she knew were acting up, it being Happy and Amour most definitely.

—He loves us, he loves us. Ooh he loves us!

Shut up!

—Wow, I love him too.

—Amour, were not even sure of our feelings for him.

—Ooh but he loves us!

Happy, Wisdom, and Love. Be quiet!

Gripping her head in irritation, Raven left the main room and retreated to her bedroom. She knew she needed to have some time alone to medicate and figure out what was wrong with Beast Boy. He wasn't acting himself and sure hadn't been around enough lately for her to figure this all out. Thus as she sat down on the floor, her legs folded lotus style, she then started to meditate. Repeating her mantra until her emotions were intact. However she doubted that even mediating would be the answer to all her problems.

(In the Watchtower)

"Today team we'll be evaluating a member of the Teen Titans," Batman announced. Each member of the JLA was in the room and to their utter vexation it was a matter revolving around a Titan's member. "The member goes by the superhero aliases Beast Boy."

The whole room then filled with laughter. Even though each superhero in the room took the meetings seriously, the meetings usually involved subjects on matters such as super villains or someone particularly evil. Not a superhero, and yet not a superhero that was known in the superhero society for being carefree, laid-back, and happy-go-lucky.

"Wow Batman," said the Flash aka Barry Allen, his voice retched with laughter. "What could be wrong with that kid, he's a good guy, I think Steve's taught that boy fine. I mean he was trained by one of the most respected superhero fighting groups of all time."

Batman frowned. "I'm aware of that, Flash. However I'm to say he hasn't been loyal to his team. Or as it seems here, he's been doing other things his teammates are not aware of." He motioned to the screen that was before everyone. It showed the changeling sneaking out of the tower and walking with three figures. None of them were wearing holo-rings.

Black Canary chuckled and crossed her arms. "Ya know, the leader has done that. Didn't Robin do that when he was trying to be an apprentice to Slade, or was that another thing...?"

Martian Manhunter tilted his head to the side and raised his eyebrows in agreement, others did that as well. "She does have a point," he added.

Batman didn't say anything. Superman stepped in. "Yes, but, Beast Boy is another case. Robin redeemed himself when the aftermath of his unjustly actions were in suit. Beast Boy has been doing this for months or perhaps weeks it seems like. Believe it are not, we as adults need to lend these Teens a helping hand."

"He wouldn't like that," Batman said.

"Are you referring to yourself in third person?" Someone remarked.

"Who said that?" Asked Batman immediately, his voice showed hints of frustration yet he held a calm exterior. "No, Robin wouldnt like this. The idea of JLA coming to the tower he resides in with his team, and others as well. He is an adult. He leads his own team. They don't need a helping hand. Yet, he does need to be forewarned–"

"Not forewarned. Warned, is the word. He needs to be warned," Diana interjected in his speech. "Go on."

The bat looked even more the irritated, yet he continued to speak. "Robin needs to be let in on Beast Boy's whereabouts. But I don't think it's smart to parade into his accomadations and say, one of your team members have been going behind your back without your acknowledgment leading a vigilante group."

"Batman," John Stewart said. "Maybe we should let the teens handle that stuff. Right now we need to speak of other things, like Lex Luthor. Superman has he been running rampant in Metropolis?"

Barry stood up. "Wait, I can let Wally know about this. He can tell Robin. That okay?"

Batman furrowed his eyebrows and looked directly at the scarlet speedster. "What is it you would tell Kid Flash? That, that Beast Boy is going behind your team leader's back doing churlish things?"

Flash frowned and shook his head. "No, that would be stretching the truth, I would say,Wally, you know that teammate of yours who is green and shapeshifts? He would say, 'yes, Uncle Bear. I sure do. It's Beast Boy.' And I would then say, well, he's leading this team and they show vigilantism. The members are of a pink haired girl who can change into crystal-form—and I know the two other ones names, Thunder and Lightning. They are–"

"Thunder and Lightning," Superman said with disdain. "Those two fickle boys. Those brothers. They should have their powers taken away. Those clowns..." He trailed off mumbling to himself, crossing his arms. "Those storm twins..."

"So, it's settled then," Green Arrow concluded, ignoring Superman. "Barry and I tell Roy and Wally that they have a team member who is a fake."

Everyone agreed.

-/-/

Kole drunk a lot of water. So much, her stomach began to hurt at the twentieth cup. She told Jericho just about everything, yet she left out the part about the fake dating and jealously, that was a no-no thing to bring up. Also, the whole Slade thing. Really, she made up a story "...and you see now. That is why I appear as this. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Jericho stared at Kole in disbelief. It hurt that she was lying to him. Why was she lying to HIM? Kole, please be honest. You were not trying to rescue people out of a burning building. If you had been, you wouldn't be lying.

Her eyes darted around his humble abode. It was relaxing, yet nerve-wracking too. She wanted to run to Beast Boy and see if he was alright, she wanted to pamper Thunder and Lightning, and see if they were okay. She felt so sick and lazy just resting. she needed to meet them. Why did she have to black out? Oh, why oh why, did she have to do such thing? Jericho could see right through her lies. "Will you tell Robin about this?" Kole decided to ask him first, before telling the truth. She touched his hands, her face showed desperation and urgency.

Jericho blushed at the fact that she was touching his hands, and had forced himself to forget that kiss, he was now only remembering it. Taking her hands away from his, he signed his answer.

She still didn't tell him the whole truth. She didn't mention the stuff that she vowed for herself not to mention, and she put some new scenarios in her story.

Dr Light did this to you? Jericho signed in perplexity.

"Yep!" She said rather enthusiastically. "But, he's now in jail, a-and he won't do harm no more!"

She still hadn't gotten the story, straight. Yet, it looked as if Jericho believed her. But deep down inside, she knew he still didn't believe her. Before she could do further explaining, and before Jericho could ask her another question her communicator sounded from her shoe. Awkwardly, she unzipped her boot and took out the device, who was ringing her was Beast Boy. She looked up at Jericho, who seemed rather curious on who could be ringing her, she didn't pay no mind to that. "I have to take this."

She walked out into the great horizon. She answered the call. "Kole, Kole! Kole, do you know where Thunder and Lightning are?!" Beast Boy looked distressed, and frantic. "Remember, when you and I fought off Slade's henchmen, and we managed to jump out the window? Thunder and lightning were still in there. They were still fighting off...his henchmen."

The only thing Kole could remember was blacking out. She didn't remember fighting off robots, and Thunder and Lightning not escaping from Slade's grasp.

"Beast Boy, I don't know. I'm still trying to remember things, you have to remember I blacked out." She held the bridge of her nose, trying not cry. A wave of emotions suddenly came over her. "Beast Boy, is our ruse up? Where are you? Please tell me you're alright."

He sighed. "I think I'm gonna leave this team for good. Call it quits. Maybe we should team up and find the Storm Bros. together. Sound good?" He had bags under his eyes, and there was tear crust all over his face.

"Beast Boy have you been crying?" Kole asked coyly. "Did something bad bad happen to you last night, not involving Thunder and Lightning and me? Where are you?"

Beast Boy smiled, yet there was sadness in his eyes. Melancholy seemed evident in his voice when he replied to her questions. "I'm at the Titans West tower; I am home...I haven't been out my room all day since I sort of did proclaim my love for Raven..." He looked away at his communicator bashfully.

Kole's eyes lit up. "Does she return your feelings, Beast Boy? Does she?"

Beast Boy abruptly signed out, and just then did she feel a tap on her shoulder. She turned around and looked to see Jericho staring at her with that same look. Curses, she shouldn't have looked into his eyes. Or more so, he shouldn't have looked into her eyes: They shouldn't have even made eye contact. Because Jericho had an advantage.

-/-/-/

"This is all my freakin' fault!" Beast Boy paced in his room. Despite there being bandages on his arms, and the pain he still felt. He wanted to think about the brothers. The thought of them being dead only made him crazy. "Thunder and Lightning are gone!"

Beast Boy tried again to alert their communicator, but nothing would do! The screen still buffered, and after buffering would only read: OUT OF SERVICE.

"This is all my fault! This is all my fault!"

He sat down on his bed, and rocked back and fourth. "What's wrong with me?! What is wrong with YOU Beast Boy? No! You are Gar Logan! You can't make a decent leader, someone is always gonna die because of you—no, me. I'm dumb and stupid. I am so dumb it hurts for me to think! Raven is right. She's right about a lot of things. She knows me better than I know myself." Beast Boy was borderline on a breakdown. He hugged himself. "No! You don't need her! You don't need anyone! You need Kole you really love Kole! You love her! You love Kole. You like her purple hair, and curvy figure. You love how serene and pretty she looks when she is mediating, and reciting that mantra. You love Kole doncha BB! Stop it! Stop it! Why are you saying such things out loud?! Stop it?!" He got up from his bed and walked out into the hallway. It was nearing the evening time. He needed to go out for peace. He needed to look at his reflection in the lake. He needed to smile.

Heading towards the wrong direction, he rounded the corner and he saw Raven. Beautiful beautiful Raven. Why, she was a pearl. A soft gem; amethyst.

He needed a hug, he hugged her. He was hugging her. It felt good to finally return a hug. He stopped hugging Raven, and he had to look at her face.

Was she smiling! Was she beautifully smiling?! "Raven, you are beautiful...and you are a person I think about."

She asked, what was that supposed to mean?

"It means Raven, that I love you," he said sincerely. "Here, I'll show you." He leaned in, cupped her face and kissed her. Beast Boy may've been having a breakdown, but in the kiss he sure didn't show it. To him kissing Raven was like birds singing, a Starling bird flying, a white winged dove dabbling in magic...it was his happy place right now.

He let go from the kiss just when Raven did because she had returned the kiss. Her hands were still on his shoulder. She looked into his jade eyes and said, "you are to forget this kiss."

He touched his lips and smiled hazily. "I don't want to forget the kiss."

"You know Beast Boy, I know a spell that will help you forget it," her face expression was stoic yet the degree of her face warm and flushed. "You will forget this kiss."

"Well, I'm going to remember it if I kiss you again." He cupped her face quickly and kissed her again.

Raven's legs went wobbly. Despite that though, she managed to still stand up straight and kiss Beast Boy back. It was a nice kiss. Their lips mingled, and mingled, until finally breaking off for air. "Beast Boy you will definitely forget both of these kisses," Raven said, but Beast Boy kissed her again.

"You'll forget this one too." He kissed her once more, her kissing back.

"You're still going to forget these kisses." He kissed her on the lips again. She kissed back.

This continued on for thirty minutes until his communicator beeped. Beast Boy opened his eyes, away from the haze and was looking at a blushing and dreamy eyed Raven. Her cloak was even a few shades lighter.

Beast Boy didn't know what happened, but he walked back to his bedroom and answered his communicator. It was Kole. He was glad to hear from Kole. He needed to focus.

Kole answered. "Hello, Beast Boy!" She was smiley and still looked ditzy. There was something different about her though...hmm...

"We have to go back to that place tonight," he said quickly, trying to not think of the kisses. "We have to go where we were jumped and captured by Slade."

Her eyes widened. "Slade?!"

"Yeah. Slade." Beast Boy frowned. "You're acting like this is the first time you've heard his name."

"Sorry, I'm still at Jericho's, I need to leave–"

Beast Boy's door burst open. It was Roy Harper aka Speedy, and Kid Flash. They seemed to be in a haste. "You're coming with us!" Is all they said before they took him away. The shapeshifter couldn't even ask questions. They avoided going out into the hall, Roy and Wally took Beast Boy by the arms, and then jumped out the window that was located left of Beast Boy's bunk bed.

"Beast Boy we're taking you somewhere safe," Roy said quickly as they jumped into a car driven by Jinx. "You're supposedly wanted for doing vigilante stuff, and you went against your superhero duties–"

"All we know is, you are wanted, and Robin wants to bring you to jury. Because you will be relieved of being a superhero." Wally countered in. "We're doing this because we realize you're in more trouble than you think."

Jinx looked in the rearview mirror, and winked at Beast Boy. "Hey, lover boy. How're things with you and Raven. You liked my potion?" She held up a see-through glass bottle that contained a red liquidy substance. "Is Raven a good kisser?"

Beast Boy blushed and asked Wally and Roy who sat on opposite sides of him. "Will we get Kole? Will we find and rescue Thunder and Lightning?"

Wally: What do you think? Of course we will.

Roy: Yeah, yeah, Beastie Boy.

Jinx giggled and then asked, "Wally, when your uncle wakes up, will he kill you?"

The speedster shrugged. "I don't know... Roy when Green Arrow gets done fixing his arrows, and unties the ropes we tied him up with, will he come out of nowhere and shoot us with arrows?"

Roy: I won't let him.

Suddenly, a figure phased into the car, now inside.

It was Raven. "You forgot someone," she chastised with a smirk sitting up in them passengers seat. The Mage then looked at Beast Boy, and just stared at him.

"Yoo hoo, Raven," Jinx chirped. "I wanna know, is Beast Boy a good kisser?"

Raven frowned. "How should I know?"

"Aw, Lucky, don't pester them with all that," Kidflash said. "Let's focus on the mission, okay?"

Jinx focused her eyes on the road.

-/-

Three days would pass when Kole (Jericho) and Beast Boy would finally know where the Storm Bros were and they'd rescue them, perhaps with the help of others.

(Days later... or, Meanwhile...)

Thunder and Lightning had been locked up for what felt like a century. Three damn days. Three stupid days of being handed gruel, and thrown water. This wasn't what there fate would be all their life.

Communicators had been confiscated, their outfits had been confiscated in exchange for cell-life garb, and they were hardly offered showers. Slade's robotic minions even confiscated the holo-rings.

Thunder finished up his gruel and stared out the little window; their only clock. He could tell the time of 4:00am. That was one of the perks about his powers and meta-ness. Telling time was easy, it was a sixth sense. "Brother, do you think Little Green One and Diamond Girl would know where we are?" His voice sounded hopeless and sad. The blue fella even lost weight due to low nutrition. It had only been a couple day "They have to come, they just have to. Will they Brother, Tavis?"

Lightning looked up at his brother. He sat on the bed looking down at the ground. He had been in deep thought. "I don't know. Look at this power shield they have about us – he motioned around the cell – what does the Slade son-of-a-wench want with us anyway? Last time he took advantage of our powers, but this time, will our powers be of any use? What will be our terrible fate, brother?!"

Thunder and Lightning could only hope.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: the JLA is coming into this...and Jericho used his powers on Kole. A-and BBRae, they kissed. I know Raven was ooc. But I don't know. One of her emotions was controlling her! And surprisingly nothing broke. At least, I don't think so. More things will be explained next chapter. Thunder and Lightning will be rescued. Hopefully they'll be rescued unscathed. Also, did you get that reference with Supes and the Storm twins? Superman doesn't care for Thunder and Lightning. I know the storm twins were evil in another universe. But, 'ey! It will be funny!

JasonVUK: Thanks for reviewing like always. Maybe this chapter wasn't what you expected! Perhaps, BB ranted not enough, yet he will still be distant towards Raven. I don't know! But stay tuned. And Raven is being mean, but perhaps she'll be friendlier.

dj25taz: you're confused. I didn't mean to confuse anyone. Um, it wasn't a dream. It was a dream-esque flashback Kole was having. She blacked out and when escaping w from Slade there was a lot of adrenaline rush, and she fought off Slade's henchmen with Beast Boy, luckily, they both managed to escape. But T and L didn't, sadly...:) thanks for your input.

AStudyinEsmeWho: BB and Kole managed to skedaddle, but the brothers didn't. And I don't know what Slade wants with them. Or maybe I do. Just keep reading, and Jericho is going to be saving Kole more times than you think. He is using his power. Thanks for reviewing and stuff. That's really cool of you.

Slytherin- Hunter Of Artemis: Thank you for those reviews. You are particularly right on all of your assumptions. Kole did have a flashback, but she doesn't really remember what went down with Slade and her teammates. And if you still aren't clear on things. I'll make sure to clear things up. Seriously. :)

Anyway, if I didn't answer your questions I really tried with an effort to answer your questions. Thanks for reviewing, following, and favoriting.

Reed, out.

btw, I have been into astrology for awhile now. Anyone wanna tell me their zodiac sign?
